Downloading now I think it just came out being that it was just talked about on their blog Here (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/04/01/ps3-firmware-v270-update/) | 2009-04-02 04:06:00 Author: OverWork Posts: 873 |
What is it suppose to do? EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see the link. | 2009-04-02 04:25:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Downloading as well. Doesn't appear to bring a lot to the table in terms of what I'm looking for, but it's all just icing on the cake at this point. | 2009-04-02 04:30:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |

Darn, you beat me to this, i was about to make a thread like this. Tho i gotta say, the new copy/paste feature should come in pretty handy don't you think? And the in-game/browser text chat should help as well. | 2009-04-02 05:08:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
You can see what the new firmware includes when you're about to download it... I like the chat thing... That was actually the they should've first implemented :/ | 2009-04-02 05:30:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |

That was actually the they should've first implemented :/ But there are waves of copyright that Sony have to go through; Microsoft has copyrighted silly things that make something as simple as text chat harder. Or they could be lazy | 2009-04-02 10:37:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
I am afraid until they can out in voice chat which you can use across different games like xbox lives private chat, the online on the ps3 doesnt bother me much.... I can play a lot of the games on the xbxo, but i can always be talking to smoeone regardless of what we are doing. And seeing as the main reason i bought a PS3 was F1, which is now coming out on 360... meh.... and also, in game text chat? how will that work if you are playing, for eample call of duty.... won't have much time to type as fa as i can tell | 2009-04-02 10:51:00 Author: Unknown User |
I think you can use voice chat now, at least that's what I understood from the little film on the ps-blog. | 2009-04-02 12:49:00 Author: Wonko the Sane Posts: 109 |
I think you can use voice chat now, at least that's what I understood from the little film on the ps-blog. It's the "while playing a game" part that is understand. It's been a very long time that we have voice chat, its just that we couldn't start a voice chart while playing a game and now we can. . | 2009-04-02 17:49:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

So "cross-game chat" is or isn't a reality now? They should just bring Skype to the PS3 and be done with it... | 2009-04-02 17:59:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |
This is kind of lame - The online tool they really need along these lines has already been invented and implemented very well. They need to have a way of gathering friends and going online together. Even in that video from the blog, all he is able to do is text his friend while in game as to what map or server he will be playing on. They need to use what LBP already has, like your pod. So friends can get together - possibly even before starting a game, in the XMB still - and then join any number of games that would support this TOGETHER, so you don't have to find each other. LBP is awesome for its vision... sony should take notes. | 2009-04-02 18:04:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you though... | 2009-04-02 18:16:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |
No, I realize that home was supposed to do something like this - but it doesn't yet. It's like hey let's play this game together, and then the game starts. Oh wait, all it did was start the game and possibly keep a line of communication open. It doesn't jump into game lobby where all the same people are waiting to join an FPS, or a motorstorm race. But yeah, home is hope - the pod is pretty much perfect now. My point is, it doesn't have to be as pretty as HOME, it could just be a text box simply stating "join party leader?" you know? They made it pretty before they made it work. | 2009-04-02 18:38:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |

I think it's Home or break at this point though as Sony very rarely ditches complex ideas for simpler means. EDIT: "Cross-game chat" or not? | 2009-04-02 18:56:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |
basically. We want xbl. because, regardless of whether you are a PS3 fanboy or not, you HAVE to recognise that, online at least, the 360 dominates. | 2009-04-02 20:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
Not that interesting.. And it's in the UK too | 2009-04-02 21:20:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |

It may dominate the realm of online, but that simply doesn't matter to some people including myself. I bought a PS3 for all that it did offer, not for what it might offer down the line... | 2009-04-02 21:26:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |

Yeah and "domination" is subjective until we define it proper. The only way a console dominates in the general market is by sales and if we go by this, it would be the 360 but the Wii. And by a large margin. Anyways, yes it's cross-game chat. . | 2009-04-03 15:21:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

FINALLY! I've been waiting for this for a long time. | 2009-04-04 15:54:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
yeah the text chat is fun but i wish the character limit would be longer. | 2009-04-04 16:40:00 Author: OverWork Posts: 873 |
The text chat is also too over censored. Apparently, you can't even say 'Peter' | 2009-04-06 21:27:00 Author: Entity Posts: 274 |
No problems with the chat myself, it was great during zombies since my friend has a broken headset and mine is falling apart (don't know how but one morning the inside was shaking about). Then my blu ray reader stopped working ... again... I would say XBL is very good if it weren't for the fact it then spilled over to PC gaming and created the devilspawn that has corrupted most releases on the way. | 2009-04-06 21:43:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
