From over at littlebigplanetoid, Dear Planeteers As the headlines suggests, we have some good news and some bad news. First of all, let?s go for the bad: I?m afraid the news is true, we are closing the site, and ceasing updates of news articles, features and LBP tidbits, which we have been bringing to you since the start of November last year. It will remain as an archive of news and features, and the comments will remain open for a time, and eventually all expire so that the site is a static archive of information, forever floating in space. Do not fear however! We are not leaving the community, the opposite of that is the truth, for we are broadcasting to you now from the offices of Media Molecule, in our new jobs as Community Managers. You heard us right - after a long period of proving ourselves worthy, we have been hired by the creators of LittleBigPlanet! Whilst we join you in the mourning for this site, we hope you can join us in celebrating our new positions. Everything you love here, we will bring to you again in some form, although what form that will be is yet to be decided, but with the backing of Mm and Sony, we promise to bring you something something bigger, better, badder and sexier that the Planetoid could ever become. Thanks to everyone for sending us news, reading the site, and taking part in the community, and basically helping to make this site so great - you shall not be forgotten, we?ll see you on the other side?.. They did a great job with maintaining news and they obviously have some web design skills, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got picked up by Media Molecule.

Methinks it's an April fools joke. They've been building it up for weeks with all the articles about Little Big Planetoid predicted for doom, Little Big Planet crashing into LBP e.t.c. If it is true though it doesn't bother me too much. I never use the site much.

However, seeing as Mm doesn't have anything on their site mirroring this news, and the fact that today is April 1st, I wouldn't make any judgements about it's validity just yet.

Then that sounds about right - LittleBigPlanetoid is run by two guys, so they might have actually scored jobs. Good for them, especially in this climate. I'm glad I won't be fighting for a job for a couple of years.

Why? If they're actually getting jobs at Media molecule, that's a good thing. However, seeing as Mm doesn't have anything on their site mirroring this news, and the fact that today is April 1st, I wouldn't make any judgements about it's validity just yet. Yeah I know but then they won't be able to reveal all the awesome rumours and leaks etc... They'll only be allowed to tell us limited information about things. Little Big Planetoid is my no 1. source for LBP news. I go there every hour or so.

I don't understand how anyone can think this is an April's Fools joke, why would that be funny?? Over the last week they've had this ongoing story about the planetoid crashing into the LittleBigPlanet, and the first of April was just the day they decided to make the announcement. As wexfordian said, MM mentioned on the podcast that they've hired two people as community managers, plus on March 31 the MM_Sackgirl twitter feed said they had new staff arriving soon. Personally I loved Little Big Planetoid, but I'm really excited about the prospect of new, dedicated staff members coming onboard to deal exclusively with community related issues, instead of having random people from MM being put in charge of those things. These guys definitely know what they're doing and I think from now on the communication between MM and the community is going to improve by leaps and bounds.

So it was true then! As I said before I didn't use Little Big Planetoid much, but I'm sure the site will be missed by many members of the LBP community. At least they have a job at Mm now, so I'm sure they'll carry on doing a good stuff for LBP.
