LBPC Level Pack! Story/Theme Voting!
Archive: 75 posts
Winner: 5)Time Travel Themed Stages by Silverleon [I]1. You are an immortal (just age immortal, but still can be killed) sackboy/girl who goes through the world, trying to survive all the hardships of each era, you start of course in the Pre-historic era where there will ve obstacles like Dinasaurs, Natural traps, and other stuff related to the era . Each level is a different era which will of course be made in chronological order. Pre-historic - Ice Age - Egypsians - Romans - Aztecs - Modern - Futuristic. (and/or other eraas i missed). 2. Another storiy for this could be A sackboy/girl who created a time machine but it messed up and got stuck in the past each time he time-travels he appears in a different place than that of the time-machineand the point is to find the time machine located at the end of the level of course, this which will take him to a different time. This can be done in chronological order and making him/her go to the pre-historic era, then keep advancing in time, or it can be done randomly where the time machine will take him to random eras. the last in both being "the present" where (s)he either stays there or decides to be a time-traveler forever. 3. The Third way is just by being the sack people of that era, each level featuring a different on. This differs in the first story since its not supposed to be the same sack person, but rather a random one for each era. | 2009-03-31 21:33:00 Author: Killian ![]() Posts: 2575 |

I think the last one is the best. | 2009-03-31 22:00:00 Author: olit123 ![]() Posts: 1341 |
My favourite would have to be Silverleon's. I think it allows for a different style with each level, so we wouldn't have to many problems keepin it consistent. Also I love the idea that we'd have different scenery/environments for each one. This is apart from my own though ![]() | 2009-03-31 22:12:00 Author: Pitcard ![]() Posts: 779 |
I voted for my sci fi one :O | 2009-03-31 22:15:00 Author: RockSauron ![]() Posts: 10882 |
I voted for my sci fi one :O I like that one. ![]() | 2009-03-31 22:22:00 Author: Killian ![]() Posts: 2575 |
i have to say this was a tough decision. i voted for rocksauron's sci-fi. i think it has the best chance for a good consistent story. great work to everyone who posted a concept though!![]() | 2009-03-31 22:24:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
I like that one. ![]() Well it's currently winning >:O ... Yeah :/ Though, if we do do the god one... please don't ruin the concept :/. The God trapped in the prison IS God, THE ONLY god. Thus, the people you play as are just religious fanatics trying to resurrect god because he's god- which is kinda an insult to religion in a way, so that may not be too good :/ ... Yeah, I like stories that are SERIOUS. Or similar, I always try to do my best to make a story that semi makes people think... though that probably never works >_< | 2009-03-31 22:25:00 Author: RockSauron ![]() Posts: 10882 |

Haha, i'm guessing voting for one's own story is out of the question huh? ![]() Well, my favorites are Pitcard's alien them and RockSauron's Sci-Fi theme, well favorites next to mine of course ![]() | 2009-03-31 22:34:00 Author: Silverleon ![]() Posts: 6707 |
Jaysus don't be saying that Philip... I'm no Michelangelo *wink* I'm not really interested in something that takes itself too seriously. I think we can still learn from things that are humorous/bizarre/offbeat! Just take Mother 3 for example. Full of REAL characters with REAL emotions and a very heartfelt story... but it's probably one of the most wacky, surreal and humorous games out there. | 2009-03-31 22:35:00 Author: Pitcard ![]() Posts: 779 |

God this is like watching a horse race! Comeon Shermzor, I've got my kids meals for the next two weeks and the rent that's already overdue riding on ya! | 2009-03-31 22:40:00 Author: Shermzor ![]() Posts: 1330 |
It was my understanding that we were voting for the basic concept of the levels. No doubt the original author's will influence it but I think that the final product will be a combonation of everyones' ideas for that original concept. So things like wackyness and atmosphere aren't necessarily set in stone. | 2009-03-31 22:43:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
God this is like watching a horse race! Comeon Shermzor, I've got my kids meals for the next two weeks and the rent that's already overdue riding on ya! HAHAHA I'd bet on any horse called Shermzor! Also I'd say tone and theme come as one with the story/concept. But you're right, if I was working on a sci-fi level with said story, I'd probably create my own atmosphere and dialogue as long as it wasn't too far from the rest of the levels. | 2009-03-31 22:43:00 Author: Pitcard ![]() Posts: 779 |

Sorry, I didn't realise you were going to edit it. I just skimmed through the thread and picked the topic. Hmm.. voted for Pirate Theme. Although, Aliens sounds good too. Cool Btw Killian, the mythology part was really an elaboration of the pirate theme. You could merge those two together if you want (so I win! lol). EDIT: I'd also like to add that we need to be careful here. Try to find ideas that have potential for many different environments and levels. Imo the levels should be like the story: 1-2 speech bubbles an area. Also, we don't want to play 6 levels set in the same area, 1-2 at most. | 2009-04-01 05:09:00 Author: dkjestrup ![]() Posts: 672 |
Ah I'm awake! Woke up early because I thought I was ringing someone up on the phone but it turns out I was still dreaming ![]() Well anywhoo seems the polls have changed somewhat. I think that the Norse idea should win if not my (amazing) idea. It would be really fun to design the Norse statues and plus we'd have to have a Kraken or two. This vid actually have some great inspirational pictures for things we could do. YouTube - Legend Rises (Kraken vs Leviathan) | 2009-04-01 07:53:00 Author: Shermzor ![]() Posts: 1330 |

From pillaging towns, to wading through frozen forests in the north, to boss battles on the seas. The story doesnt need to be complex, if we are going for a level pack, the focus should be on the gameplay. Most games (not including MGS) have a good story, but then leave you to go and play it. I couldn't stand making a level where everything is constantly broken up by story. AArgh!! ![]() | 2009-04-01 08:06:00 Author: dkjestrup ![]() Posts: 672 |

What do you think is better? Norse mythology or Greek mythology? well i know more about greek so i would say greek but for all i know norse could be the best thing in the world. id assume that both are pretty cool but greek is definately my favorite out of all the ones i know | 2009-04-01 19:22:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
Aaaaaaw I've just had a super idea for a story. How about an adventure that has elements of both Norse and Greek mythology? It could be where the two worlds clash for some reason to form one world where a war between the Greek gods and the Norse gods is raging. But it's probably too late now. Ah well. | 2009-04-01 19:27:00 Author: olit123 ![]() Posts: 1341 |

Rock's Sci-fi one was looking brilliant until the ending... LBP was made for happy endings xD not the player causing mass genocide =xD Change the ending to the player breaking free from his job with a free mind, so he decides to free the humans, by destroying all his fellow protectors? Mythology has too many restrictions imo = Btw, that player-created extra is pretty stupid xD If you planned on doing it why the hell would you comment afterwards to show who it was!? haha.. Grr, I'm getting frustrated. To be honest I wouldn't mind voting for the mythology one instead (so it would win) if it means that we actually get something done rather than fumbling around waiting for another person to vote. | 2009-04-01 22:06:00 Author: Shermzor ![]() Posts: 1330 |
meh, I wanted mythology one but ah well this could be cool. since its time travel it could still involve mythology like you go to ancient greece or maybe even a post apocalyptic far future hmm? if its this close i think we should discard the ones that were in last and re-vote with th most popular ones | 2009-04-01 22:17:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
Hahahahaha.... that was too slick! Register, vote, log out. Honestly I'm happy enough with time travel. I really hate mythology/fantasy levels (or at least generic ones) There's a lot we can work with on the Time Travel theme. It gives us the opportunity to create lots of different environments, different styles, and a host of memorable characters. One thing that'd definitely have to be consistent between the levels would be the time traveling device. Also Silverleon's written 3 different stories. We easily develop one of these or write new ones based on the same theme. So its up to you guys if we'll settle on Time travel or not, but I hope you consider what lies ahead of us when we start out on a project like this. | 2009-04-01 22:20:00 Author: Pitcard ![]() Posts: 779 |

Well do we all agree that we do the time travel one, and possibly create a mythology level if you want to? If there are any objections, I'll wait. I put forward the motion we do the time travel but include a bonus mythology level + a survival challenge as a prize for one of the time travel levels in the era. | 2009-04-01 22:37:00 Author: Shermzor ![]() Posts: 1330 |
i have no objections, though we will have to carefull decide what time/place each level will be in so as to not have overlap. using this concept we could make some of the other ideas as places you go to so people who really wanted a certain one to win can still do it. are we going to have more suggestions and another pole to decide on the individual levels or is that up to the writers? | 2009-04-01 22:40:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
Okay. I suppose we have our winner then. ![]() I'll PM each member the link to the temporary project forum that olit123 created as organising a level pack in one or two threads will not work. I'll ask a mod to lock this now. | 2009-04-01 22:47:00 Author: Killian ![]() Posts: 2575 |
