RESIZE Checkpoint Glitch!
Archive: 19 posts
This will allow you to make any object (including tools and one-size objects such as checkpoints) literally as big or small as you want, even to the point of invisibility or filling the entire map. 1.) To do this, first save the object you wish to be resized into your personal creations. For example, if you want to resize a checkpoint or a scoreboard, place one in your level, and save it with the "Capture Object" tool. 2.) Now, create an emitter and set the object lifetime to infinite so the object will be permanent after it is captured. 3.) Select the object you wish to be resized as your emitted object and you will be required to place it somewhere. During this time, you can resize the object a certain set amount, regardless of the object's normal size limitations. Choose a size and place it. 4.) Once the object is emitted, capture it again to your objects. For more drastic size changes, repeat step 3 with you newly saved object. This works for entire creations as well as singular objects. In theory, you could fit an entire level into a small grid square, although that would probably fill your thermometer ten times over. Keep in mind that items like pistons and springs, instead of changing in size, only change in length. Bolts don't resize either, but this is only a problem of aesthetics ---Note--- I'm a moderator on another forum and that is what they are discussing there today. Haven't tried it myself and don't know if it has already been mentioned on LBPC. | 2009-03-31 18:44:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |
COOL - I've always wondered how people got the checkpoints and scoreboards so tiny. | 2009-03-31 18:46:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
SawronZXZ mentioned it to me once... I was going to use it... And I might still on my level... It is a really good idea. | 2009-03-31 18:52:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
Ye I had seen it a few times in levels.. soo I experimented a bit and got it to work pretty quickly. There are a good few problems with small scoreboards and checkpoints though. Although I haven't tried it myself, I heard that if the checkpoint is too small.. You will keep getting crushed right as you spawn. A problem with tiny scoreboards is that to finish the level, everyone has to be within the sensor range of the scoreboard at the same time. Also... I think there're problems with the spawning capabilities of the scoreboard when its too small... This way you won't be able to complete it if ONE player is dead, because the scoreboard isn't able to spawn anymore. I'm not completely sure about this as it could be the case when you break the base off of the scoreboard. :S My fix for the no-spawn scoreboard was to mount a little checkpoint onto it hehe | 2009-03-31 18:55:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |

This was mentioned before. I used this trick to make a jetpack much smaller so I could fit it more neatly onto the mech I was designing. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7554 | 2009-03-31 20:00:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I've seen this in xkappax's level 'The Crystal Cave in Autumn'. It was attatched to a vehicle so that it could fit. There was a video of this in one of the level spotlight threads. It's also a very fun level to play. | 2009-03-31 20:03:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
O.o me too. Anyways I already knew this but I'm gonna make a tutorial soon. (After my Tech demo ^_^) | 2009-03-31 21:24:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |
Small checkpoints also seem to be buggy (probably falls in "undefined behaviour"). A sackboy can run buy one without it triggering. Also, if they are not at foot level, they will never trigger (I've never been able to get one to trigger). Frankly, I wish we could have more customized version of the checkpoints... | 2009-04-01 01:09:00 Author: feloneouscat Posts: 89 |
Well you can sticker it or build some things around it like in "Eartmusic and Agni" from Earthmusic. I am not so happy with this scaling thing. The tiny ones do not activate correctly. | 2009-04-01 06:59:00 Author: Fjonan Posts: 359 |
They activate fine for me. (Releasing a Tech Demo soon ) | 2009-04-01 12:12:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |
I'll have a look at it. It would give a nice possibility to create new Portal designs. | 2009-04-01 12:39:00 Author: Fjonan Posts: 359 |

There has been a wave of these tiny objects >< I say I was first; knew about it months ago; royalties pl0x | 2009-04-02 20:56:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
I knew about tiny tiny buttons and switches long ago, but not this. For the small switches though it is much easier... just angle your switch or button diagonally and then scale it down... the game will let you do this and they function just like any other size switch or button. | 2009-04-02 21:47:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |
Done! I published it. Thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10162) | 2009-04-03 23:32:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |
