Fully automated machine (with pics)

Archive: 19 posts

Just an easy level that you ride through. It has some neat ideas in it. You ride through a machine, and watch as it takes you through. I can do feedback on other levels, but I can only make very minor changes to this one. Also I think it's working about as good as it's gonna get, but if I hear about repeat problems
I'll take a look.

I loved this level. My feedback is about your thread. It obviously went overlooked because there's not much to your OP. Read the feedback and showcase tips and sell this level, because it's great fun to watch and deserves many more plays.2009-04-27 22:50:00

This is a beauty!! Loved it, especially the dark matter emitters at the end.
5 stars and a well deserved heart!!

+ Nice visuals
+ AWESOME mechanics
+ Original

Jaeyden is right though, perhaps you should have put a little more effort into your original post.
Pics or videos are always attractive. (I would be lying if I said I don't play levels from threads with pictures sooner than just plain text-ones)

Well done, Smasher!!

As the saying goes... Judge an LBP level by its cover

I'll check this level out when I next go on! Is your PSN the same as your username?

If you'd like to be on the safe side, follow some of the tips from How to Maximize Level Feedback (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10692). It has some general advice for making a Level Showcase thread - like Zwollie said, a description & screenshots are persuasive, and should be added if you can manage it.2009-04-28 00:47:00

It`s pretty cool. i do like the complicated machines, probably because I couldn`t do them in a million years.

Do you have the other rusty metal materials? I kept thinking that it would`ve looked a bit better if you`d varied up the material used.

Also, I fell out when the bubbles was moving down as I came off the ground and must`ve moved back a plane onto a cog behind me. Any chance of putting a glass backing onto the bubble to stop that happening?

thanks for the feedback. I didn't want to vary the looks of this level to much. I like to keep it simple. The bubble has a back on it through most of the level to prevent this very thing. Unfortunately I had to dissolve it right before the ride in the air walking car due to the cars wheel, it wouldn't allow the bubble to enter it. I might take a look at the pistons to see if their to low.
I thought I had them all high enough, but I may not. Thanks again.

Checked it out last night and it's really cool! The complexity and physics are fun to watch and I'm impressed by the sheer size of the the thing!

(The hamster wheel in the front is cute too)

OMG... That was just awesome... Have only just played it, and gotta say 5stars and a heart straight away... Nice work man...

I was wondering what was happen with the dark matter bit, I thought something was wrong... and than once I saw exactly what was happening, I thought that was soooo cool...

And like Morgana said, the size of the level looks massive... It looks as though you've used the whole canvas to showcase this masterpiece... Nice work man, I bet there was a hella of alot magkeys involved... LOL!

I feel like I'm on a really big hamster wheel! Nice job with the LED Lights btw. Now on to the machine! You need that crazy contraption music for this. You know what i'm talking about? From that episode of family guy where he buys the breakfast making machine that actually shoots him in the chest? That would be fun.

I died...? After the dark matter emitters, at some point, the glass ball i was in broke. Soon as I moved, i got squished... Going through it again. I love the fact that the level doesn't need to be reset to start over.

... OK, now the ball's just sitting there... Did I mess something up? Iunno, I'll try it again later. Give it 3 stars for now.

I tried it a LONG time ago, I STILL remember it, it was so great. Here's my feedback:

PROS: I enjoyed the amazing mechanics and the decoration was great. The LCD display was AMAZING! It must have taken FOREVER!!!! I also liked how you made great use of LBP physics. It was a great level, and I enjoyed watching it.

CONS: There is only one thing I found was annoying. This part (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=459&d=1240882979) was VERY long and it took FOREVER.

OVERALL: It was a GREAT level! I loved it! 5/5 and a heart.

F4F: Try the level in my sig.

Sorry if it messed up on you. Actually, you have to restart if you make it past the crane. oops, I never got around to making that part renew it's self. Maybe if I have some time I'll get to it. Right now I'm full steam on my new level. It's almost done, so it's hard to make time for old levels. When I built this level I tested the living **** out of it. It usually works great, but you know how lbp is right? It would work perfect 20-30 times and then mess up like twice in a row. I don't know why. Maybe it's that chaos factor.

Yeah, I do a lot of level creation, so I know how the editor can be. I had a whole series of headcrabs in my Ravenholm level all of a sudden become immune to DEATH. The switches were connected properly, they jjust didn't die when their paintinator drained. Had to completely replace them all.2009-05-07 02:25:00

Played this last night and enjoyed the ride! It worked perfectly for me the first time and it was very entertaining to sit back and watch my Sack Boy traverse the level in this contraption.

The only part I had a bit of trouble with was getting the machine started at the beginning in that big wheel, but eventually I got it to spin and start.

Other than that, it was a lot of fun to watch. Nice job!

Played this level twice already. Once as game and once to review.

I love the glinting metal, mix of textures, excellent technical aspect and being able to kick back and enjoy the ride.

I did get distracted by a few minor things:

The glass ring- I would have liked to seen it stickered in a metallic texture that is slightly highlighted. To me that would incorporate the glass ring blending it a little more into the machinary.

The dark matter on the piece that moves you across to the first score bubble. Again stickered as close as possible to a metal look to blend.

Visible piston on sponge (pet peeve of mine) I understand pistons are machinary but something about them bugs me.

Overall I would say that this is a fantastic level where actually you feel like you are part of the creation.

I played this a while ago and it was pretty awesome. Looked way better than the "Level that plays itself" and it was pretty flawless when I played it. I was kinda amazed by that, there was a lot of moving parts to it. Good job! I hearted it, rated 4 stars and tagged Complex.2009-06-02 04:08:00
