@ShadowCrazy
Nice costume! I've never been very creative with making my own original designs.

@Vinicius
Nice job on coloring that, looks really great!

I got back a couple hours ago, but mum was using the tiny computer and the charger, so...We went to Epcot, but I won't elaborate too much because that would be going off topic. I wore my brand new LittleBIGPlanet T-shirt from Hot Topic yesterday, and my ALGEBRAIC Adventure Time shirt today, and this one group ran up to me and went AAAAADVENTURE TIME!
Yesterday we went to Harry Potter again, no wait whatsoever for anything. Got myself a butterbeer again, man, that stuff is good.
OK let's not make too much conversation about this, don't want to go off topic. As long as you have something on-topic in your post, it's alright. But no spam.
I didn't even draw anything on the way there or back, except for a few Mr. Pricklepants doodles (Toy Story 3).

Yes, I do use the textures in the Fansite kit. First, I color in the skin some random color, then I paste the texture onto a new layer and check the "Clipping Group" box so it only shows up on the parts of the skin I colored. If that made any sense.2010-08-31 19:56:00

I've been making some sackgirl drawings lately... (only girls so far)
So far I've made two, I can only show the other one, you'll see the other one soon enough.
I'm a little afraid to make a new thread for my own ones... there are too many better artists out there in the wild world...
So I decided to post this here first, what do you think?

But umm yeah, here is a late birthday present for sackgirl4ever

Paint Tool SAI, maybe 5 hours? I'm not sure.

Just to clear something up after being harassed by my mom about a "boyfriend", no, the sackgirl is not me, because I would never in my life wear a dress resembling that. Or a dress at all, for the most part.

@Joruto
The chair looks odd because it's viewed straight on. If you look at the drawing long enough everything viewed straight on starts to look odd. Or maybe that's just me.

It is a very cute picture Zim. Very fitting for a couple of sacks

Amazing picture (when are yours not?), the only flaw I see is also the ocean. It seems to cut off suddenly and it looks sorta like grass on a dark night if you look at it for long enough. Other than that, its perfect!2010-09-01 14:53:00

Zim : Another piece of awesomeness from you. Also, Shadowcrazy's comment was full of lolz, so I think it really was meant to be lighthearted. And also, would you mind telling me something? It has been on my mind. What is it that you're wearing in that avatar?
Shadowcrazy : Adding lolz to your comment can still come off as angry because this form of communication doesn't convey sarcasm very well.
SR20DETDOG : You're right about the chair, it seems as if it is a cardbard cutout or something, but then again, sackboy loves those. And, no it isn't weird that your favorite part is the moon, it is awesome.

I believe the water adds a sort of calm romantic feel to the overall piece. Things as chaotic as waves would imo ruin the piece as a whole.
My only complaint is that the moon's reflection is very bright and maybe that's why Shadow felt it looked more like a skating rink.

Zim seems to do alot of pictures without a background.

Wow! The new drawing is great! The moon reflections and everything is perfect! The only thing that doesn't kinda match is how calm the water is when it dissapears. Maybe you could do something to make the water kind of fade out or something? I'm not sure, haven't tried drawing water myself. Great job though!2010-09-01 22:50:00

Thanks for all of the critique. I've only done water once before, so I didn't expect it to be perfect. And the chairs look 2D because I realized I'd forgotten to shade them.

I'm not sure if I'll get anything done tonight. Mum took the charger to work all day, so I'm only just starting my schoolwork, and I'll finish really late. I've also come down with a cold. Maybe tomorrow.

Look, no arguing. I just thought it came off just a little rude, but sarcasm/joking around doesn't translate well over the internet. Let's just drop it here and be done with it.

I've finished my schoolwork for today, but now my sister needs to do her schoolwork. It'll be quite a few hours until I can get the chance to draw anything. I got the Marvel pack today so at least I can build some more costumes for the Ahi and the Golden Gauntlet. Know what, let's just abbreviate it as AatGG.

Sorry, Zim. I didn't mean to start anything. Sorry Shadowcrazy, the words you used appeared to either be sarcasm, and thusly funny, or genuine anger, which would've been weird, given the situation. I just meant to point out that either way, this form of communication doesn't translate tone well. I guess the same goes for what I said, so I apologize.
EDIT : Oh, yeah, and the shoes?
Also, I am going to make my avatar animated, if I can. If you don't mind, is there any way you could send me some other frames to make it so the cape is waving? I know it is probably ridiculous to ask, but anyway I thought you, as the original artist would be able to help it turn out better. Thanks and apologies if it isn't something you can do.

I think what he is asking is, if you can draw around 3 of the capes (as a seperate drawing) so he can make it animated - by giving the illusion its 'blowing'

Not bad. The only thing I would add was theziminvader's signature. I have a thread about this and Rhyfelwr says :

I'm not sure this would be too tricky...
25 frames per second - so 25 frames...
The cape could be cut out as a separate layer and then use liquid filter to play with it for each frame... 15 minute job I reckon.
Or do it in Flash and tween the image between two points and then save as gif.
Rhy

So, there's that option, too. Anyway, no pressure for time, as I am taking a break from the site for at least a week. My older brother is getting married, so it's crazy around my house. If you could find the time, zim, that would be the best. Not to lessen the awesomeness of tommy's, though. It's really awesome, for only having one frame as a reference point.

Oh, and vinicious, isn't it weird that you sometimes have to tell people about the thanks button?! And good drawing, man.

Compare them to Midnight Heist's pictures on his thread about the Super Monkey X mod. Mine art more blurred, less crisp, and pretty squashed-looking.
I made a new mod today, Sparkster from the original Rocket Knight. He's really fun to race with. I tried making Axle Gear in his original design, but...Didn't turn out too well.

If I have time. That looks pretty impossible.

I would have added more detail if Sparkster had some. His old design is surprisingly simple!

I wanted to do the classic style, but I was also planning to do the new design too, since I like that one also.
As for "what's next", I can only do these when I have spare time and if I feel like it. It depends on if I'm in the mood. I mean, it's not like I have time to do all-out requests for them. That'd be ridiculous. I'm kind of out if it right now, forgive me if what I'm writing doesn't make any sense...

Of course he did mean that. The Mask was too powerful in his presence it temporarily paralyzed a specific part of his mind that caused him to go into a small trance that momentarily erased a small portion of his memory of what the Majora's Mask was. Yes, it was that awesome.

Last two post was off topic, guys.

mini moderation doesn't really help none...especially when you're bumping the thread with "useless" posts aswell...in the end you're making off-topic posts to point out off topic posts instead of trying to steer the conversation away to something more on topic...so yeah if anything you should just stop pointing it out and just post something on topic. i already figured this out long ago which is why i barely do it anymore but i thought id let you and the rest of the thread know since publicly posting mini-mod posts doesn't really help as much as do the exact same thing you're trying to prevent.

so yeah this is my last "point out off topic post" post and i'll be getting back on topic now

so the new Ahi photo is done, and can't wait to see it...question is now what's next? as far as im concerned you're on your long deserved break so what happens now?

Yes, I am aware that his helmet is smaller than his head, but that's only because if I did it the right size, it would look colossal compared to himself, and he wouldn't be the focus of the picture anymore. And as for the goggles, or eyeholes if that's what you meant, that helmet is more of a show-off piece and not the real thing; if I would have added the eyeholes, it wouldn't have looked too well. And I also noticed that the shine on each of the gems aren't in the right place, but everybody makes mistakes and I accept that's it's not perfect.2010-09-08 00:08:00

Hm...No, why? I've never seen or heard of Vincent before (I'm not really into FF), and the only Cloud I know of with a gauntlet is the one from the first KH, of which I have an action figure sitting on my desk. There are a lot of gauntlets that look like that though.
Ahi's color scheme is basically brown and gold, so I thought I'd go with that for the gauntlet.

he's a king? didn't really notice tbh (sorry) since he doesn't don a crown of any sort or a scepter...maybe make another drawing of him with his king outfit on so people can know the king has a battle ready mode

EDIT: maybe make your own crown...love the LBP crown (want one badly) but to be honest it doesn't really look like a "king" crown...idk how to explain it but it looks like a crown used for a champion or something liek that

Well, more of a prince at the moment. Although no designs are final at this point, do all kings really have to have crowns, furry robes, and scepters? Ahi's ancestors were descendants of dragons, and the horns are a symbol of the royal family. Of course, I've barely explained anything about the story yet, so of course no one would know that.
Okay, so...You all could tell Haze was the antagonist, right? Ahi is the protagonist, of course...I'll probably explain everything this weekend, when I have more time, or when I have most of it sorted out. Or, it could all be explained in the level - I mean game.

Also, I can't stop listening to this song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAkCHNjK8JE)

yes PLEASE explain....because i thought haze was an anti-hero...but not evil...and i thought the king was just a king who would lend aid to the protagonist when in need...and no i dont mean the stereotype for the king (altho crowns and scepters in my last post did point to that...but the horns could be a sort of "crown") but i meant like how in dragon age the king had a special golden type of armor that let you know "hey biznitches im the king "

but yeah hope you explain this more...cuz im confused enough as it is

Okay, I'll explain some of it now. Let's start from the beginning...

Ahi and Haze were born into a royal family; they're brothers, a couple of months apart, Ahi being the youngest. The son/daughter of the current king or queen would become the next king/queen of the kingdom. (What exactly the kingdom is like will be explained some other time.) If there are two sons/daughters however, whichever child begins to grow golden horns the earliest, or at all, would be destined to become the next ruler of the kingdom; the gauntlet would be inherited from their parent, and this is what gives them power. A golden helmet for the new king would be forged by the most skilled blacksmiths in the area.

Both Ahi and Haze were good children, they were well-behaved and got along with each other like two peas in a pod. Ahi was the responsible one, calm in every situation and very polite. Haze was mischievous, but had a strong will and could do anything he set his mind to. He loved to tinker with things, take them apart to see how they worked, and build his own small contraptions. Both brothers were intelligent.

When they were very young, they were blissfully unaware they were competing to become the next king. Their father was a very good king, righteous and fair, and he knew how to handle every situation that befell him. He had one fatal flaw, though; while all kings are supposed to tell their children about the inheritance of the throne as early as possible, he put it off, fearing it would be too much for his two sons, that they would turn against each other, desperate to be the next king. He was over-protective of the the two, and was hesitant to break the ice. So he didn't.

Years passed, Haze and Ahi's father still refused to tell his sons. Both of them were twelve by this time, and their father had told them of the gauntlet and its importance, but not of the power it would give anyone who wore it. Their father was growing old, and if he didn't tell them about the inheritance soon, then no one ever would, and the council of the kingdom would take matters into their own hands (this usually meant trouble, which was why the family had always avoided them by any means necessary). A few months after Ahi's 15th birthday, the king passed away. The entire kingdom was devastated. The queen didn't say a word, staying locked up in her bedroom for days on end. Because of this event, no one seemed to notice that Ahi had begun to grow golden horns; not even Ahi himself.

About a week after the funeral, and a mere day before the council was going to visit, Haze found a chest in his father's room, hidden under his desk. Curious, he opened it. Inside the chest was a tattered piece of parchment and a variety of other knick-knacks and objects. Haze skimmed through the writing on the parchment, and discovered this was his father's will. The contents of the will had every piece of information about their ancestors and the process of choosing the next king, everything his father had not told him about. At the end of the will, Haze found this particular sentence;
"In the case that I pass on, and my two dearest sons are still unaware of the inheritance of the throne, I leave the gauntlet - and the kingdom - to Ahi, of which has shown signs of fairness, responsibility, and leadership. I know that he will be a fine leader one day."

Enraged, Haze tore up the piece of parchment, not wanting a single soul to know about it. Upon kicking the side of the chest in anger, he heard a metallic clunk from inside. Rummaging through the junk in that trunk (lol), he pulled out the royal gauntlet. Glancing around the room to see if anyone was watching, he slipped it on. Anyone not destined to wear the gauntlet would go mad from the power, not knowing how to handle it. And that's exactly what happened.

Haze was astonished by the the gauntlet, but he soon heard the sound of footsteps coming from the hallway. He hastily slammed the trunk shut and pushed it back under the desk. He was hungry for more power; slipping the gauntlet into his back pocket with a grim smirk. Ahi peeked through the door, just as Haze hurriedly stood up and rushed out of the room. As anyone would be, Ahi was suspicious.

The next day, Haze told his brother he was going for a walk. His real plan was to find a secrete location where he could figure out his plans to seize control of the throne, now that he had the fate of the kingdom in his back pocket. Haze bounded down the steps of the castle courtyard, Ahi at the doors behind him. As he hopped down the last step, he froze, hearing the clank of something metal hitting the pavement. The knights guarding the doors, the caretakers of the gardens, and his brother Ahi all gasped in shock as they saw the royal gauntlet fall right out of Haze's pocket; by the look on Haze's face, they all knew he was attempting to steal it. The guards' expressions of surprise soon turned into anger; matters like these were not taken lightly. Haze was surrounded by the castle's protectors in an instant, all with looks of questioning on their faces. That's when he ran for it, leaving everything behind; the castle, the gauntlet, and his brother.

6 years passed. Being old enough (21), Ahi became the successor to the throne, and he turned out to be as great of a king as his father. Haze had fled outside the kingdom, and within a year built a colossal watchtower on a distant hill; the kingdom's citizens looked upon that craggy hill as a dangerous place to venture out to. There was an immense, dark forest below the hill that was rumored to swallow any travelers who entered it. Not one villager went near it. In the watchtower Haze resided for those 5 years, watching what was happening in the kingdom from afar, growing angry with jealousy and envious of his brother's success. He plotted. Built contraptions and artificial intelligence in the hopes that one day he would steal back the gauntlet and gain control over the entire kingdom. During one of his many failed attempts, he was locked in a battle with his brother Ahi, and suffered a critical injury to the left half of his face, which is why he wears the eyepiece constructed by himself in order to see.

If the gauntlet ever left the hands of the one destined to wear it, they would be cursed, and if they didn't get the gauntlet back soon enough, the curse would be permanent. This was the result of an event that took place hundreds of years ago, a curse placed by a member of the family not unlike Haze. The gauntlet is the only force that can keep the family curse at bay. Ahi was completely unaware of the curse, and Haze used this to his advantage.

And that's where the climax of the level series picks up...Most of this story above is expressed in cutscenes, but you will be able to play parts of Ahi's earlier life in the castle. Haze has successfully stolen the gauntlet (how that happened will be explained in the level series), and Ahi has been cursed into that robot form. Haze is then in charge of the entire kingdom, and it becomes all wastle-landish and bad and stuff. You have to travel allll the way to that tower to face off with Haze so you can get the kingdom back and stuff. Apologies for the poor writing, it's very late and I spent like two hours on it.

Remember I'm still sorting out the story and everything, so none of this is concrete.

it should be concrete right now and just keep adding onto it...i loved the story...nothing i could ever think up...which is very impressive

i hope to see much MUCH more soon

the only thing that kinda has me thinking is the "robot" curse...which is weird as how would anything with meat and bones in their body suddenly turn into a robot?

maybe have a suit of robotic armor to TRAP Ahi in there...but as for a robot curse....meh im not so sure...but thats just a quick thought...so its not something that i find much problem with...but thought id point it out to see what you thought about it

Well, yes, that's exactly it. I was too tired last night, so I forgot. It is armor. Thanks for reminding me, and for your input.
There are probably lots of plotholes at the moment, but I've got two and a half months to figure those out, so it's okay.

The story is looking good so far!
But, you will wait for LBP2 to come with all the cutscene, music, and other fancy stuff to build it, or you will attempt to begin it in LBP1?
Because, with so many cutscenes to do, a cutscene tool would come in handy. The music tool too, even if you don't have a musical mind you can always try putting some random notes that make a music. (like I do in the piano sometimes )

I didn't have time to draw one for Rhys, though, when it was his birthday. And comphermc? I'm forever in his debt, the least I could do for him is a drawing.2010-09-09 05:39:00

Anything's possible in LBP!

I surprised her with it, of course. If she had asked for one, I would have been a bit more hesitant to draw something for her, but it's not like she'd ask anyway, she's too polite to ask when my requests are closed. When requests are closed, I like to draw people stuff when they don't ask or hint at it.

A lot of people did spinoffs of Grey's mouse costume; White ones, brown ones, blue ones...I for one did a red one with a poet hat, ruffle, shakespeare doublet, and those red flowery buttons as ears underneath the hat. Try making your own color mouse based on the decorations and, well, creativity you have available.2010-09-09 07:17:00

Wait..? You're IN the beta? Like you're playing it? Or were you just accepted?

I'm confused because the beta hasn't started in NA yet, and don't you live in Florida?

(If you have been accepted into the beta, add me on PSN, we can betorzz together. )

Also, AMAZING work on GreyMRP's, that one is definitely my favorite...

And @eagerneph You are making great progress! The only thing you need to improve on is the anatomy and size/shape of Sackboy. Once you get that you're golden.

What? I'm just asking, she looks like "OMGZ I NEEDZ TO DO OVER 9000 DRAWINGZ PER DAY OR THEY WILL COEM AFTER MEEH!!"
Well, not that much... I guess she just likes drawing... Idk, I can't think too much when I'm tired...

Hahaha I didn't mean to sound insulting or anything.

Well, somewhat...I know you guys are just going to say "of course you don't have to" and "draw whenever you want to" and all that, but I just like making you guys happy, since you guys make me happy and give me so much support. I want to treat others how I want to be treated; sometimes I really really look forward to seeing more work from an artist I like, but then they don't upload anything for quite a while, and it makes me sad. I don't want you guys to feel that way, so I try to draw any chance I have; I need to start drawing more often now that I'm so hooked on video games.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to put off buying that second controller I've been wanting, and I may not have many digital drawings for the time being, because this tablet pen is started to get uncomfortable. Just five minutes drawing with it makes my thumb sore, and if I hold it a comfortable way, it gets all jumpy. I'm hoping I can get enough money for a Wacom Bamboo. And if I save up long enough, maybe I can even get a Wacom Intuos! Those are SUPER expensive though...

Heh, if you need inspiration, just stick around in October. I'm sure you'll find inspiration then.

Just relax and soak in the excitement, Zim. LBP2 is 'round the corner, Halloween's coming up, the whole "I WANTZ BETA" rave is kickin' and screamin', LBPC: The Game can come out any moment- everything is just bursting with anticipation and fangirlish giddyness!

Zim, in a matter of months, you've not only gained the love and adoration of practically the whole LBPC community, but you've earned a crown, a beta key, a raging fanbase, the now numerous and several artists buzzing around claiming inspiration from you, and the trust and love of several new friends. You've literally taken one of the most abandoned threads on this site and hand-crafted it into one of the most coolest and aspiring threads I've seen on ANY gaming forum. You're a hero... of sorts.

And I swear, if I weren't limited to Paint and my PS3's browser, I'd be trying my hand at LBP art right now- all because you've inspired me to.

*sniff*

I don't mean to sound sappy, but...That made me really happy. My eyes were close to watering, you almost got me there. In case you didn't know, in very, very few instances I cry at all.

(Wow, I type slow on the PS3)

Geez, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but it's worth mentioning over and over again- you have an awesome talent, and if you wanna start drawing again (or take a break or whatever), go ahead, no-one's stopping you!

I just wanna say, on behalf of LBPC and anyone else affected by your work, thank you. You deserve everything and more.

(Oi, I feel like freakin' Paula Abdul right now... but in a good way )

That reminded me how important the LBPC family is to me. Thank you all, for making me feel so at home here and giving me so much support, friendliness, and all of that good stuff.

Enough of this sappy stuff...It's time for a new event.

a QUICKTIME DRAWING SESSION

A new event that would take place several times a week.
I pick a random subject, and you guys (including me) do a quick doodle/sketch of said subject. Then, you show everyone your picture here, and we tell everyone what we think of each other's drawings. If you get feedback, then you have to give feedback to the person who gave you feedback. If you're not exactly the drawing type, you can still participate by leaving feedback for other participants' drawings.

By doing this, we can all have some fun, discover some great artists who were too shy to show the world their talent, and receive some feedback and opinions to help us improve! You'll be better at drawing in just a week if we take critiques into account and try our best, and if we can keep this running long enough.

What do you all think? Yay or nay?
If you all like the idea, then tonight's subject would be LBP2.

Just trying to spice things up.

No, not just the "talented artists". For budding artists too, and just for anyone that wants to participate. It doesn't matter if you're "good" or "bad", it's just for fun and can help anyone that's serious with their art, also.

Also, from now on, I'll be accepting any and all friend requests. I feel that I've been too harsh about that lately. I mean, how am I supposed to "get to know someone" (which I used to say was the criteria of accepting friend requests) if I don't get in contact with them? Send away.

The "Everyone Drawing" session is a cool idea, you can count me in!

Btw, when I was still a guest and when I entered the community, you seemed to be limited to this thread, but now, I see you posting on more places and being on more often.
