I'll probably finish the next quest "Frigid Grotto", add all the quest givers, add some houses to the village, then put it all on mediafire for a second beta test. (So this one will have 4 quests to do instead of just one.) So yeah, you'll be able to try it maybe sometime tomorrow of the next day.

How do you make "quest givers? O.o
Place a block of birch, put a block of cobblestone ontop of it and plop a button on that cobblestone. Then toss on a sign that tells you what .txt file to read and viola, you have a quest giver!

I, too, was involved. We cleaned up the mess from it and all. We really didn't want to do this, really.

I only got involved because I thought the cake itself was a huge grief from your old house. I honestly had no idea you built it until we were done cleaning up the mess.

All the griefing you and Inanimacy are doing, no one is liking it. No-one. While we were cleaning the ruins of your house, we were talking about if we should actually feel bad for you. At one point it even came up that the server was funner without you and Inanimacy there. When we finished cleaning the ruins of your house, we almost evacuated the whole city in fear that you would blow it all up! I think it's time to realize that the server isn't just for you, it's for everybody. Here's a list of changes I think will make it all better:

I didn't grief anything, the only griefing I did was with the obsidian and water, all which would take about a minute to fix, no destruction, just additions. And I only did that griefing because you flooded my house when I went to eat.

-De-op or even ban Inanimacy. People really want this, and they want it set in stone.

I'm not banning Inanimacy, get over it.

-Stop griefing. It's pretty obvious this amuses no one.

Never griefed with the exception of your house, which again would be easy to fix.

-Stop hiding TNT. People have died, and people don't find it funny.

I've yet to hide any TNT I have no idea what you can be talking about.

To be honest, I missed the post and thought it was Inan because of a sign that said "Love Inan c:" and the doors were obsidianed up and was flooded. I thought he built the cake and wrecked your home, so I thought it was ok that it was being burned, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one to assume that. Of course, joining in in the first place was a bad idea, but we all cleaned up the mess and admitted we did this all. If we were evil griefers, would we admit we did this all? I don't think so, so just let this drama about Whaaaaale's Baked Alaska alone and just move on. It's just a game, anyways, right?

In all seriousness, I dunno if Notch thought about it but there's a way of getting rid of ALL griefing with minimal coding effort (probably). He should add 1 little info about a block status: who placed it.
This way, we could have an option "griefing on/off" and when it's on, you can only break the stuff YOU placed. Griefing would then become harder because an account hack would be needed in order to do so.

I love it too, but when it comes to showing people your creations, the only option is to put up a download link.

Read up on griefers here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Griefer Mind that some things are from Classic mode so things like water floods don't happen anymore.

And classy griefers sound better than the common one.

Oh the school gave us the laptop, well we have to rent it for a retarded amount of money. I was using it as it was faster than the older computer I had which was like 10fps lol.

I built my house just a little far off from the city, it's not done yet. Please don't mess with it guys ._.

I don't really know why I used sand as the outer layer. I think its because I had no cobblestone at the moment of consruction.

Also cocoa beans can be obtained from dungeons apparently. As well as brown sheep that seem to spawn now. I heard pink sheep spawn too but I'm not too sure about that.

Yeah that's what I'm going to do, going to go on the forums and see what's up. Hopefully I didn't mess up with the backups and now can't even load our server. O_O

Server won't be updated until the admin updates MCAdmin guys. Don't know how long it'll take, hopefully not too long. But on the bright side, found the funniest conversation in a thread..

Alright so as of lately I have been thinking of switching from MCAdmin, our current server thingy, to CraftBukkit, or Bukkit. And I wanted to get everyones opinion on this. There is a lot of great stuff that Bukkit has that MCAdmin unfortunately probably will never have. So here we go...

CraftBukkit is essentially the new HMod. HMod was one of the best servers to use before the creator was tired of Minecraft and essentially stopped all work on HMod.

We will not be using WorldEdit, it will just be downloaded but permission will only be available to the Admin. And I will only be using it when we're griefed or an accident happens.

Server is now up with CraftBukkit. Lots of work to do so it's very bare right now. Matter of fact it's just like a Vanilla server except the fact that our names are in colors and there is a welcome message, motd, and rules.

There are restricted commands that I didn't touch, however every command seems to be restricted so no one other than OP and Admin can use them, will need to fix that later. There will be an economy, everyone starts with 500 dollars. One kit, diamond kit, however the diamond kit as of right now is free since I am not using it properly/or the plug in hasn't been updated.

There are protection signs, place one near a chest and the only person that will be open it is you, unless you want more people to open it, then you just add their name to the sign (very cool IMO.)

Lots of more signs like this, however none work as of right now since the plug in doesn't seem to be updated, or I'm doing something wrong but I don't think I am.

EDIT : Bukkit is VERY VERY hard to use, I'm learning so give it time guys, have already messed up the code twice already and basically destroyed every plugin, all because I put two spaces in a line instead of one. Much like coding something, spacing and capitalization is key, and I need to double check I put everything correctly everytime, so once again bare with me.

Update:

Me and SpiderJew cleared out the land for Residential Area III and have made 4 squares for four new houses, one has been taken by Joruto and one by Spider.

There's something wrong with my Minecraft!

After I log in, the Mojang logo comes up for about 5 seconds, then Minecraft just closes for no reason.
This has happened everytime I've tried to go on it today, and it was working fine yesterday!

Can anyone help/tell me what's wrong? Thanks a lot!

the new launcher has a force update option on the launcher as well. basically just re downloads the latest version. great for when you go and gimp up the jar.

So I started a new world in SSP.
I spawned near a snowy area, and all of a sudden I find a wolf but he was already tamed :o
I took him with me through the night to kill some skeletons and I got enough bones to tame another wolf

So right now I got 2 wolves with me >

I don't know how the first one was already tamed though.

Deleting bin. didn't work though, I'm trying to reinstall Java now.

EDIT: Reinstalling Java didn't work, but I deleted the .minecraft server (after backing up my saves of course!) then completely reinstalled Minecraft and it's working now!

Lol, I figured.

Whale probably shut the server down while you were trying to access your chests and Minecraft didn't boot you out of SMP.
So when you tried to reconnect, the server was already down.

Yeah, I'll probably make a [Free] chest for bones soon. You guys think we should turn mobs on? I think it'll be much more fun, and more challenging, and it won't lag on the new server. Bukkit has much less lag.

It's depending on the computer, and the requirements are pretty low. Even my PC with 2GB RAM and 2GHz single core CPU can run a server with mobs lag-free.

About the mobs: maybe you could use a plugin to make them spawn only outside the city.

We wouldn't need that as long as we light it up enough,
I think it might be a good idea to turn monsters on. Just as long as we get a good warning.

About the War plugin: if you install it, I'd make some good maps. I had this installed on my private server for quite some time already and made some.

Bukkit doesn't lag, unfortuantely it's your connection. You live in Brazil, the server is being hosted in USA. It might be because of that fact, or your computer. However I've had very very little lag compared to MCAdmin.

Reason why I've been thinking about turning mobs on is because of a plug-in called MonsterHunt.

Everynight the server would give an announcement that the Monster Hunt is about to begin, you sign up for it if you want to join. The Monster Hunt begins and you begin killing mobs, at the end of the MonsterHunt it tallies up the person with the most kills, announces the winner and rewards them with whatever I choose as the reward, be it diamonds or whatever.

And it'll only work if we have mobs on. That's all.

I'm...I'm not sure the city is going to work out as planned. Inanimacy is cheating for everything he does (thus ruining the point of building the city without cheats) and constantly ruining all my work (killing my dogs, blowing up my house, flooding my house, just plain out griefing it) and everyone just laughs at what he does, thinks he's being funny and when I call him out, they think I'm being immature and should just let him do it and say nothing. They'll probably come onto the thread claiming otherwise, but meh that's what they always do, can't tell you who to believe.
At this rate, all everyone really cares about is the mods and wolves anyways. The city really doesn't have a point it seems, it's just walls with things inside. So yeah, I'm going to be called out as usual for voicing my opinion but I don't care anymore.

Your plan was to build a city, and a city is being built. Let people do what they want, I can see were you are coming from with the whole griefing part, but just because someone is cheating for his own house doesn't mean the city isn't working. And to be honest you've cheated a couple of times too. The server is meant to be a place to have fun and if someone doesn't like chopping down trees, cooking cobblestone, etc, then so be it. You'll feel much more satisfied knowing you've built the things you have legitimately and that's all that should matter.

Clay, since you seem to love these rants so much I thought I'd give one a try....especially since in my more awake state I notice a few things you said yesterday that were completely down to lack of thinking :/

First of all I thought it was ironic that in the same minute you said I especially don't care about your stuff and should leave the server if I'm not going to have a contribution, when the only contribution I've had to the server thus far is repairing your shet :/ Your basement didn't rebuild itself when it got blown up and your house didn't de-obsidian and de-flood itself after the cake issues.

Also, you said I should be using my day doing something else with my life, which isn't taking timezones into consideration :/ My day's already over, what do you recommend I do differently at 10pm/11pm when I come on to act brain-dead for an hour rather than catch the end of a film on Film4 or (God forbid) finish some work.

I suppose with you still being quite young I can tolerate the odd whine about Inan, but like spider said, there's nothing really different about your house except for a dog door with no dog to use it :/ And don't bring the emotional stress + morals into this in future because you shouldn't be that worked up over a game :/

Singleplayer is fun, but Multiplayer is even more fun. You can PvP, build together, play spleef or just screw around with others by dropping cookies in front of their door and leave them wondering why the hell there were cookies on the ground.

Not sure, it might be because I had to redownload the plug-ins because we had outdated ones. I must've forgotten to add you back to the whitelist, your username is plasmavore right? If so, you're whitelisted.

It don't know about Essentials since I use CommandBook instead of it. But yes, you can set multiple regions, even with parents and the like.
So you would first use a wooden axe to make an enourmous area around the city, write //expand vert to make it stretch from bedrock to sky and then use /region city Whaale to set the region. The commands is /region [name] [owner1] [owner2] [...]
Now you can set various flags using /region flag [name] [flag] <allow/deny>. For example you could use /region flag city mob-damage deny and /region flag city creeper-explostion deny to make the city mob safe.
For specific houses you can use above command first, like /region house_suyo Whaale. Then add the plot owner as a member using /region addmember house_suyo TheSuperyoshi. This will allow them to build in there, but not to change region settings. Good flags are /region flag house_suyo tnt deny and /region flag house_suyo lighter deny. Also, for all regions the flag chest-access is denied so only owners can open chests (makes [Protection] signs obsolete).

Oh btw Whale, the sign protection thing has one major flaw. It does prevent direct borrowing of items but if someone wants to steal items then that is no problem since you can just destroy the block the sign is places on and use the chest after that.

My only concern with the plug in is that it might cause problems with other plugins, causing errors of the sort.

Also, when you say you use a wooden axe to make an area around the city, then use /region city Whaale how would WorldGuard know where the protection is needed? Or is it much like the War plugin (see the second video in that post for example) were you basically tell WorldGuard that this is one corner of the city, then you move to the opposite corner and it creates a square essentially.

Ah, thought so. So most of the Essentials would become useless after installing WG and WE? And also, what exactly did you use on your HMod server? Just incase I have to make a switch to prevent plug-ins from interfering with each other.

Slightly off topic : Who else is annoyed with the fact that after using multiquotes, the quotes are there everytime you reply, I have to delete the quotes everytime I post, even when I don't need the quotes.

Ah, thought so. So most of the Essentials would become useless after installing WG and WE? And also, what exactly did you use on your HMod server? Just incase I have to make a switch to prevent plug-ins from interfering with each other.

All of Essentials becomes useless after installing WG, WE and CommadBook.
On my server I use CB, WG, WE, War and some other random plugins like a plugin which lets you wear a block as hat : D

So, I get on Minecraft and first thing I notice is that my water is gone inside my house. I got to my "Whole New World" balcony...and I see this:

So, I have been told that there was an accident involving whaaaaale and Inan's house and lava. A command was suggested and used...but the result was not pleasant as all the water and cobblestone within a 100 block area was removed. The water and cobblestone you see is the reconstruction process in work.

I have been told, that upon request, Inan will take the blame.

Nah. Didn't download BigBrother, it all could've easily been prevented if I would've known /undo works, but by the time I found out I had closed the server once to look for backups, so the history was essentially erased.

It's all fixed now though, Clay's house and the Information Center are the only rooms left.

Oh man, I've been watching Minecraft vids on youtube for about 2 hours now, and, wel, I seriously want that geme, it looks extremely addicting, I think I got adicted to it by just watching the videos, and its something I'd most likely completly get into.

I love building/ creating, I love grinding (Yes, as in any game, grinding mobs or for items, I just do ok, it entertains me.

), and I love exploring open world games.
This has all...

My goodness, how can I get my hands on this marvelous game? xD
(SPECIALLY now since I may be able to get a laptop soon-ish.

I was playing singleplayer, I decided to go explore and take my wolves with me. I got a bit lost and eventually it was night. After a painful journey to find my way back home I saw my pyramid glowing in the dark. Right at that moment a zombie attacked and I hit it. Bad mistake. My wolves attacked the zombie and one of the wolves died

Well, I got back into my pyramid, left the other wolf in there (after feeding it) and went back out.
I found about 10 wolves in one place. I took out my stack of bones and tamed all of them. Then minecraft crashed. All the wolves are gone, even the one I left in my house.

I am now able to play (and currently am actually) Minecraft.

That is not to say I still aren't looking for a way to get an account of my own, in ccase RAWK decides he wants his acc back of course, so if someone can help me with that or get me some info about it, that's still appreciated.

Anywho, I've been most of the last hour or so, building and mining underground, was gonna build an underground place, but I ended up connecting to a cave, got one Iron Ore, tho dunno what that can help me with, and a ton of cobble stone, so much I don't know what to do with it, any ideas?

(Oh, and I've ran into a few Creepers...I see why people hate them.. xD
(Now that pic I posted a bit ago is about 20% funniner since I get it now.

First Warzone map is in the works.

Suyo basically used WE to completely change a grass map to a sand map, it was amazing to watch as the entire place took new shape with natural looking cliffs and stuff.

Suyo, Me, and Vin have started decorating the map. Still lots to be done in the aesthetics department but it's turning out to look nice.

I did put really big noticable landmarlks on both my main place, and wher I left my tunnel, then night happend, and somehow I went somewhere and BAM, landmark nowhrer to be seen!
I've climbed to the tallest trees and whatnot, but can't find a thing.

The more you explore, the more chunks (pieces of your minecraft world) are generated. You could be lost forever

Hey guys, I'm working on a little town in singleplayer called New Bridgevale, and I'm hoping to release it for download soon.

It's not an adventure map, (should I make it into one?

but it's still cool to hang out in and people can add to it or use it as their server map, I don't know. I'll post pictures soon!

They finally announced a set release date for the full version of Minecraft. The game is planned to be finished on 11/11/11.

Also, for the 1.5 update, not only will we be getting the Stats and Achievements system, but now we're also getting weather.

Rain and Snow(Snowy Areas).

Rain makes stuff wet and snow covers stuff with... you guessed it, Snow!
There's also going to be thunderstorms and lightning at some points.

I was lost, so I decided to go above the mountain, see if I could find where I was.

There should be a lava waterfall I made, around there.

You sure? It's highly unusual you would make a block tower out of normal stone, then stack dirt, then somehow get grass to grow on the top block... :tophat:

Ran out of cobblestone had a lot of extra dirt, the cloud kinda blocks the view, but the grass covered dirt "bridge" is part of the mountain, I didn't make that, I just connected my tower to it to get on the mountain.

Actually, Fortresscraft was planned and started production a year BEFORE Minecraft! They wanted it to be a big 3D First Person version of Dwarf Fortress, but I think along the way they were having trouble and decided to copy Minecraft's graphic system or something along those lines =/

Server's being a bit laggy for me.

I can walk around fine with no lag, but other people jsut stand still for me, my messages take AAAGGES to come up and it takes about 5 minutes after I click on a chest/crafting table for it to open.

Not blaming the server, my computer is rubbish >_<

Yeah smp is usually like that

It's probably partly your computer as well as your internet that is causing the lag/framerate issues. Perhaps get a new computer, it will most likely increase performance a lot.

Found out that I'm probably getting my new machine next week don't know how long it will take to assemble it but it's gonna be good

By my standards that is it's not like it's gonna be an extreme gaming pc but powerful enough. Not sure if I mentioned earlier or not but 1.5 will also feature automatic farming of crops although we can already do this through various water systems it does not drop seeds when we do it, now it will. You sir are wrong! I was around when the whole thing went crazy, and it was originally meant to be a Minecraft clone. Before it had a name, the guy called it a MineCraft clone. Then he added a bunch of features and claimed that because of those features, he couldn't have ripped MineCraft off.

ok I just set up a server for when Whaaaaale's server is down Alec tested it for me and it works!

Ask me for the ip and i'll pm it to you! :3

Oh and there are no plug-ins atm sorry :/

I've also started fiddling with a server, and I have to say its interesting to have admin powers. (Mwahahahaaaaa!) I'm really not sure how well my computer can handle it though. I suppose once i get the kinks worked out and learn how the thing works we could try and stress test it as a backup or something. I have every intention of running this thing with monsters active too, by the way.

Till then, What mods are good for a server to start with? I have iEconemy and Permissions, along with thier dependancies, but i don't know what else would be needed.
