| Guys, if he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it, admittedly 2nd season started kinda weak, yes, but don't try to force it on other people either. @Aaron, I do recommend if possible to watch the first 3 episodes from season 1, the 1st 2 are more introductory more than actual episodes, and the 3rd is a bit more like the actual one (The series get a lot better as it goes tho.) so try to watch a few FULL episodes from season one (not quitting midway) if possible. Its an starter episode mainly for introduction tho, also remember that the series was all rushed as it was, and 2nd season was even more rushed than 1. Besides, they just needed to make a character to fight against, I don't really care if they give discord a backstory or not since we probably won't hear about him again. Its like getting mad for no backstory to Manticore, Sea Serpent,and or Dragons that appeared once. Do remember that they're on the clock and making a backstory takes time and effort and they have to pack all the main introductory stuff in 2 eps, go read the interview with Lauren Faust, It''ll probably help some.  Do keep in mind the "actual show" really starts until the 3rd episode. Besides, it was rushed and some parts were pretty bad yes, but you gotta admit there were also some pretty funny parts. xD Overall I say don't worry about it, I already expected it not to be a great episode considering I knew it was a 2 parter introductory one like in season 1 and it went better than expected. | 2011-09-19 03:33:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

| I don't think Aaron's being too serious, although you'll want to be careful with that, it's a pretty sensitive spot for the people who've been hanging in this thread. A while back we actually a had a few members just go off and accuse us of ruining the forums and liking the show simply because of it's memetic/troll value. Which, of course, is a bit tragic and ironic considering this is a website dedicated to an E-rated game in which we control little cotton dolls and fight a giant vacuum with cake. In any case, point is that it's not territory you'll want to be stepping in. We're not going to slam you or anything, but still. If you're not very enthused about the show, I wouldn't encourage posting here. | Look, as far as the whole "Pony Bashing" thing goes, I totally understand it. I too used to not understand and dislike what people saw in it. But, I kept it too myself. I saw no point in trying to entice an argument over something so trivial and pointless. I suggest you do the same. So some people like to watch this show, so what? Leave them alone! After a while of scepticism, I began to watch the show properly. Currently, i'm studying Media Production at University & the production value of MLP:FIM is substantial. The team behind it are really passionate about what they do & it shows in the results! The cultural phenomenon of a demographic way above the speculated age range is unheard of within the children's animation industry, except for a few die hard fans of particular shows. Does this not show off that there is something more than just a kids show that "nerds" look at? I know quality when I see it, and this show surpasses all of my expectations of what great animation, fun story telling & attention to detail should be. On top of that, there's the nostalgia factor of shows such as "The Powerpuff Girls" and "Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends" that many of us grew up on & were developed by the same people. (i.e. Faust.) You might be too young to understand now (which I envy) but some of us like to go back to a time when we had no responsibilities, no worries & enjoyed to watch cartoon shows just for the hell of watching them! Hell, the video game this website is based upon is probably deemed too "Immature" by most of the people you know, right? Why should this be any different? Like us, you can see past the cute image & appreciate true quality that is being produced. So, I ask you, please stop all the hate. It'll get you nowhere. We know that they're are a lot of people that won't ever understand why we enjoy the show, but that's ok with us. All we ask is that you keep it to yourself, that's all. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if you hate on us, go ahead, quote me in a "Quote Archive," see if I care. This is not a furious type fest of emotional reaction. I've been a brony since late November; I joined the Ponychan community since in April (I think; it was shortly after /co/ started banning us). There are a LOT of fandoms that do stupid things, and I don't criticize most of it. This is different. I have seen the great things this certain fandom did, and I will remember them; however, the community has gotten terrible. Majority of the people who aren't afraid of embracing their bronyism force this love and tolerance into their mind and are forcing it on everybody else. I actually gotten multiple bans from Ponychan (which is dead now) for flaming people who purposely trolled others with this "idea". The point: I used to like posting pony pics in pony threads and hang out with the brony community. Now, I avoid them. It's not worth it anymore, and the only people who do go around publicly showing off their bronyism are the ones trying to pis everybody off. Same with this, but unfortunately its internet popularity and the fact that it contains the words "My Little Pony" makes a lot of people think we only watch it for irony. And we don't. We genuinely enjoy it, believe it or not. Case closed. Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but I've been really impressed with season 2 so far. I honestly didn't expect the overall quality to be this much higher than season 1, animation, writing AND humor-wise. | New episode was Ok...tho it seems they're getting cheesier, one can guess what's gonna happen in the episode just from reading the description, in season one one could guess, but it was difficult to really know what would happen, season 2 has a lot of cliche stuff... | OHAI everyone. Today I wrote an essay with inspiration from MLP The task was to describe how a character can have a negative or positive effect on teenagers I believe... Here it is: How Ponies Can Improve your Values Have you ever heard of a certain show known as “My Little Pony; Friendship is magic?” I am not talking about the old series; the show is in its second season now and it is barely any older than a year and half. It is created by Lauren Faust, the same woman behind the cartoon “Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends”. Both series are innovative, creative and lovely in my opinion, especially My Little Pony. Yes, I am serious. The show is not only just well animated and detailed, the story is very charming as well! To keep it short, the plot is about the unicorn Twilight Sparkle who has been given a mission by princess Celestia, the ruler of Equestria which is the land they all live in. Twilight must search for the meaning of true friendship and is sent to the town of Ponyville to find out, together with the young dragon Spike who acts as her helper. In the town she meets 5 other ponies named Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash whom she becomes friends with and together they all discover important lessons of friendship together. Note that there are three different types of ponies, “earth ponies”, “pegasi” and “unicorns”. This may sound like a show aimed at younger girls, but a large part of its fan base actually consists of boys of my age and even older! The show is innocent, yet funny and charming, compared to so many other TV-series directed at kids today like “Hannah Montana” or “Shake it up”. The older generation grew up with more innocent series like Tom & Jerry or Looney Tunes and probably sees My Little Pony as something nostalgic and true to the values back then of good hearted fun or the simple good guy/bad guy template. All ponies have a distinct cutie mark, a symbolic picture on one of their flanks which reflects their talents and personality. That does not mean they are all simple archetypes or simpleminded characters though! They have deep personalities with sets of weaknesses and strengths and they are more human-like than you would think. Though the show is only a little older than a year I believe it already has given a positive effect on whoever has been watching it. Let me explain my point with the character Twilight Sparkle. Twilight Sparkle is a unicorn who carries a cutie mark similar to something like a star cluster or stellar constellation, a more abstract representation of her magical skills, knowledge and willingness to learn. Punctuality is one of the things she treasures the most, as well as order. Her home in Ponyville lies inside a grand hollow with almost all the walls covered with bookcases filled to the brim with books on just about everything. Her house is more like one giant library combined with a study room, which fits her well. At first Twilight was a character that only cared about studying and being the best student there is. She never had any time for friends, nor did she really care either, until she met the other ponies from Ponyville. They were all very different from each other, but they all came to respect and like everyone else for who they are. I think it is something that can inspire other people who are not as social to try and make friends, while putting differences aside. You learn about the value of real friends and they may teach you something new as well! I think that Twilight’s behavior as a hard worker while giving her all could also have a positive effect on people who normally do not do much. She could make them take the initiative to work hard themselves and try to achieve things they otherwise would never have. In a particular episode, the lesson Twilight learns is to accept her own talents, while not becoming arrogant and conceited in your own skills, which can motivate people to not be afraid of their skills and be proud of them, while not letting it go to their heads. It is not Twilight alone though who learns the lessons, all her friends learn their fair share of as their adventures start and stop. Applejack is an earth pony that works hard and does not mind getting dirty, literally of course, this IS a children’s show. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are two very different pegasi, Rainbow dash is somewhat tomboyish and likes to be in the center of attention, while Fluttershy has an exceptional talent for taking care of animals while being very shy around others. Rarity is a unicorn who designs clothes and while she acts very snobby she is also a loving and generous pony. Pinkie Pie is another earth pony who loves to hold wild parties and brings in a certain element of good-hearted randomness to the series. Together they complete each other well and make a strong team. You could argue whether or not the show could have a negative effect and make people accept traits that actually are weaknesses, but there is also the importance of being a good friend and help your friend in need so he or she can become a better person, which is different to accepting them for who they are. The morals even each other out the way I see it, there is a balance between what to accept and what to help with. In my opinion I think everyone would be better of watching the episodes, because you learn valuable lessons for later use in life and the world would also be a better place in my opinion if people understood the lessons you can learn from this very show. I looked around, and it says ep.11 is supposed to be released on the 17th, but I can't find any streaming links. I've also been avoiding dA and tumblr because I've seen posts mentioning the episode, and I don't want to spoil it.
