| Time Heist was going so well until it **** the bed at the last minute with another closed-loop paradox. | 2014-09-21 22:03:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| I actually find it really weird how preciously good I find Time Heist to be. Is it because they just made an overall-good script or did something during the episode turn my brain to soup? https://31.media.tumblr.com/f784bd715fae960b4811f9b4e11fb5fa/tumblr_inline_n2pipuxSgy1rh838f.gif | 2014-09-23 20:11:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Kill The Moon seems interesting so far. It's as if the writer Peter Harness actually seems to give a crap about what he's putting on screen. http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/kill-the-moon-clip-67180.htm However... I sincerely hope that the "no fast movement" will not be the hook of the episode. Especially after "Don't breathe", "Don't look around" and "Dont think" that we have had just this series. Then it will just be: "Don't move" and I am not sure if I can get into that. If we're talking about the top 3 flaws of the show this series so far, it must be: 3) The stupid leaks and other spoilers. 2) The Next Time trailers and their use of dated soundtract (GO AWAY "I AM THE DOCTOR"!!!). 1) Murray Gold's unspectacular work. | 2014-09-27 12:47:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| 2) The Next Time trailers and their use of dated soundtract (GO AWAY "I AM THE DOCTOR"!!!). Weirdly to me this always felt better as the next time music than it ever did when it was used in the main show. | 2014-09-27 18:30:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| I quite liked that. Some of Clara's awkwardness was a bit forced, and the Skovox Blitzer was criminally underused, but other than that I thought it was alright. | 2014-09-28 09:09:00 Author: The11thWheatley Posts: 230 |
| Writer Peter Harness has teased his upcoming Series 8 episode Kill the Moon in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine (#478 (http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/dwm-478-dark-side-of-the-moon-66728.htm)). The mag hints at a life-changing dilemma for Clara and says that by the end of the episode things will never be the same again due to the Doctor’s actions. Harness says: “I still don’t know how people will take it. I’m in this kind of limbo now waiting for people to see it, and I’ve no idea, really I do not know how it is going to go down. “I’ve never seen the Doctor do something like this before…” http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/dwm-things-will-never-be-the-same-again-after-kill-the-moon-66800.htm Do we start taking bets on Danny or Courtney not making it through the episode (but being back before the end of the series.) | 2014-09-28 20:14:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| Danny will probably make it to the end of Kill the Moon. I wouldn't even bet on him being a major part, as in he doesn't fly away in the TARDIS. Or do we have footage of him in Sanctuary Base 6 costume? Courtney, on the other hand... Honestly, the most fascinating thing about "The Promised Land" arch has to do with the pattern that is there: there is no pattern. After the Half-face Man died in 'Deep Breath', people around were suspecting what the trick here is. After 'Into the Dalek', there was a pattern that was visible: both who died and went to the Promised Land died because of the Doctor. In 'The Caretaker', the random death actually nullified this theory. There is of course always room to theorize, but what we can take from the Promised Land thus far is that it is not a hoax. We will see, but this is actually a very well handled series-arch thus far. | 2014-09-28 22:05:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

Policeman definitly fits in with a death because of the Doctor, Scovox was only there because of the Artron energy from the Tardis landing in London so much. There was the self sacrifice for the Doctor theory that we were 50/50 on with half-face and was definite with the soldier that doesn't match up with policemans death. | 2014-09-29 11:45:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| Policeman definitly fits in with a death because of the Doctor, Scovox was only there because of the Artron energy from the Tardis landing in London so much. I didn't catch that bit on any of three times I've watched the episode. Silly me. Still, the thing is more or less that the policeman doesn't/didn't know the Doctor, so there's little to speculate on. I'd actually prefer if the overarching theme wasn't about the Doctor for once. It's kind of an annoyance in the Steven Moffat era thus far. | 2014-09-29 19:43:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| It's kind of an annoyance in the Steven Moffat era thus far. One of many. I Sort of wish they had gotten a new lead writer for Capaldi, honestly. | 2014-09-30 21:44:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
| Time Heist was kind of underwhelming. I was hoping for something more like "Doctor's Eleven Four" So the most secure bank in the universe just happens to have a network of huge air vents connecting every room? They're so big people don't even need to crawl to move through them; just a slight crouch will do. The vent covers aren't even bolted to the wall; the Doctor could pop them off easier than Batman in the Arkham games. And the boss lady was all like "how did you get in here?" How about the big-*** vent that even a child could open? It's ridiculous. The Caretaker I liked a bit more. Clara being adorkable is a plus in any episode. A whole episode centered around that? Awesome. | 2014-10-01 04:54:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
| Okay, while I'm really looking forward to this week's episode, Flatline's got me really interested as well. Because reasons. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) | 2014-10-01 21:43:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Kill the Moon. I liked it. I didn't love it, I don't think it was great, but then again, I don't dislike it. Closest comparison point would probably have to be Waters of Mars in a sense, but to clarify it isn't anywhere near as good (then again, nothing else since Waters of Mars has been that good either). The spiders were pretty and made a nice change of pace in terms of the villains this series, but they were just pushed aside too fast. The supporting cast were all dull, even though Hermione Norris did sell her performance. The idea of Earth deciding was a great one, but it was handled quite poorly (as in, only a fraction of the world got to decide, since we never saw Asia's or America's input) and the gravity thing was just flawed science (correct me if I'm wrong, but eggs don't actually increase in size or mass, do they?). The good stuff... I LOVED the fact that the Moon was an egg. Brilliant twist, didn't see it coming and Courtney's existence was great misdirection, even though the character could've done more. It's as if there once was a science fiction show out there that wasn't stranger to doing something with out-there, weird concepts like that one. Hmm. Peter Capaldi continues to impress, easily rising up to become a stand-out Doctor in the New Series altogether. Jenna Coleman gives easily her best performance to date, with actually heavy material to handle for once and his outburst at the end is a great moment in a series which has quite a few of those. The episode looks stellar and you can't discredit the series for the lack of diversity in the episodes. The creativity is astounding, but the execution could've been a lot better. What I think this show desperately needs is longer episodes and two-parters. Deep Breath could've been a great outing, had the extra time been used to actually flesh out the new Doctor and the plot, but it was used to give screen time to characters who fail to have changed at all during their time on the show. Kill The Moon could've used more time to spend on development of characters, the germ-spiders and, in my opinion, we could've seen the rest of the world decide as well. This would've been a lot better as a two-parter (just imagine, the decision being revealed and the Doctor leaving with the spiders approaching would've been AN AMAZING cliffhanger). Also, the ending was a bit of an anti-climax. I won't question magical moon-dragon biology related science with the new Moon being laid as soon as the baby was born, let alone how a dragon that size can lay an egg twice its own size, but whatever. I'm not a master in magical moon-dragon biology and neither are you. However, we never see any conclusion to the Moon shattering in Earth's atmosphere, the choice of the people being ignored and we could've really used more emphasis on the effects. It was a bit of an anti-climax. As I said, GREAT ideas, poor execution. Probably all I have to say, to be honest. Kill The Moon gets 6/10 from me. PS: I just hate how the next time trailer for Mummy on the Orient Express shows no Clara, as it could be an implication that she has just left, but the episode synopsis is dang blatant about Clara being in it. Then again, it could've ruined the ending of the episode totally if they included her there, so I guess the fault lies with the synopsis and not with the trailer. PSS: Seriously, this is the kind of creativity television hasn't seen since City of Death. I just wish it was better. | 2014-10-05 22:08:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| **SPOILERS** I liked Kill the Moon, didn't like the spider bacteria thing. The egg twist was brilliant. Lol at no posting pictures of me online! -hyper | 2014-10-05 22:16:00 Author: hyperdude95 Posts: 1793 |
| (Actually, I was wrong: eggs don't remain the same weight before hatching, they actually lose weight due to liquids coming out through the shell. It still makes no sense for the moon to gain weight, though.) | 2014-10-10 20:41:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| I had been waiting for Clara to call out the Doctor on his BS for some time now. This incarnation of him seems to have a lot less regard for the safety and feelings of his companions than the previous three, and to make it worse he even gets condescending at times. Eleven loved humans and always strived to see the best in them. Twelve not so much. Looking forward to see how this is going to pan out. | 2014-10-11 06:35:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
| Spoilers: Mummy on the Orient Express is the best episode of Doctor Who for years. Peter Capaldi ranks up as one of the greatest Doctors in the show's entire history, Clara actually is memorable and definitive as a companion, not to mention pretty awesome. The supporting cast has not one weak link, with Perkins being really great fun just like everyone else and even the minor quest appearances were a lot of fun (even though Foxes wasn't as much in it as she was shown to be), Murray Gold is back on track, the visual effects team is on their definitive top and it's one of the few episodes to work completely in its 45 minutes without ever feeling too short or ever feeling like there was more to be done that could've added to the story. Jamie Mathieson has written one of the most tense episodes in Doctor Who's entire history. I was breathing heavily every time the Foretold was killing someone, which is thanks to the combination of beautifully clever writing and awesome camerawork. Director Paul Wimhurst directs his first Doctor Who episode absolutely brilliantly, complimenting the minor details in the script while making something beautiful in its own right. The cinematography is just perfect for the style of the episode and the way the ending left its ultimate mastermind unrevealed was really creepy awesome. Also, that ending in the TARDIS... Holy frick this is just brilliant. This is exactly the kind of escapism Doctor Who does best. It's a tense, unique story and plot with fleshed out minor characters, defined and surprisingly well built-up world, great mastership in front of and behind the camera in every respect and the whole package comes with an awesome ribbon of imagination on top. Doctor Who has rarely ever been better! At least that's what I think as first impressions. Bring back Jamie Mathieson as soon as you can-- wait, he's back next week? WITH FLATLINE!? Kill the Moon was bad? Who cares! We have a consistently GREAT Doctor Who episode! This is the kind of television I want this to be. Mummy on the Orient Express is a blend of horror and comedy and sci-fi and fantasy. And it's dang near perfect. 10/10 | 2014-10-11 21:47:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| Hell yeah. That may have been one of my favorite Who episodes yet. No stupid plot holes or loose ends, no weird Deus Ex Machinas or concepts that are ridiculous in a bad way. Just awesome all around. I hope that Perkins isn't just a one-off sidekick and makes more appearances in the future. All those people trapped in the lab, were their appearances based on real life scientists? One of them looked like Darwin, and another like Einstein. Anyway, I have the feeling that once Capaldi's run is over, he'll be remembered as one of the best Doctors ever, perhaps the best. I haven't watched the old series, but I didn't get so attached to the previous three Doctors as quickly as I did to Twelve. | 2014-10-12 10:24:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |

Dat FlatLine. Reminds me of the jump from LBP2 to LBP3. -hyper | 2014-10-19 18:15:00 Author: hyperdude95 Posts: 1793 |
| I don't think Flatline is quite as good as Mummy on the Orient Express. That said, it is marvelous. Second best of the series this far. It's imaginative, fun, very interesting and inspired piece of television. It has some of the coolest old and new concepts of the show thus far, great monsters, awesome premise and instead of just stranding the story on modern day Earth because reasons, it actually justified what it did by making the plot something that could only ever happen on modern day Earth. It's not all sunshine and flowers, necessarily. The thing about the "wrong" people surviving in the end has been done before (and in my opinion, better) in Voyage of the ****ed, the bit about the man not seeing anything on psychic paper was funny, but it kind of made the fact that they actually shoehorned psychic paper into this story more apparent, especially since this is probably the first time it's used in this series. Also the bit with Missy was really jarring at the end and only took me out of the moment. The soundtrack was basically the Twelfth Doctor's theme on repeat, which is not too bad yet, since it hasn't been overdone for now. At the end of series 7 I had gone from "This is awesome!" and "This sucks!" to complete immunity to any effect brought by the Eleventh Doctor's theme and I do hope it doesn't happen again. Doesn't bother me yet but it just makes me worry that repeat viewings will not be too kind to this episode. Another thing to fall into that category is the amount of CG. The Boneless looked cool and scary, but I don't know if it will be so in ten or so years. Still, Mathieson is this series' best writer thus far. In the Forest of the Night doesn't look too special, let alone good, but I will try and stay optimistic. It has a new writer, so who knows? Also, Steven Moffat may surprise when Romana, Susan and Adric return in the series finale, Boom. | I freaking loved In the Forest of the Night! Yes, even though it had kids (one of my favourites ever has children in it too). I loved it becaue those kids were well written. They had different, definitive characters that were all notably children. Also, the conclusion with them writing the small speech was just small enough to be bigger in a sense. The forest was beautiful, the fairy tale elements were all charming and sweet and the animals were really cool for the short time they were on. If there is anything I didn't particularly like, it's the ending. I just don't like the Heaven suite and it's, to put it frankly, annoying. Also, the bush disappearing to reveal a character whose name we know, but who we don't really know know. I enjoyed the light heartedness. 10/10 from me, it's an awesome story, really special and correct for this spot in the series. I love, love, love this series at the moment. | The Animals really felt like they were only in there just so they could have something interesting to put in the episodes trailer. | 2014-10-26 16:21:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| This week's episode suffered from the same problem as Kill the Moon: if everyone had just stayed put and done nothing, everything would've still turned out alright. The plot resolved itself in a Deus Ex Machina-ish way. Edit: Also I'm starting to get bored of Danny. I liked him at the start of the season but it feels like the writers don't really know what to do with him. Either grant him full involvement in the adventures or just cut him loose entirely. His position as occasional sidekick is starting to get awkward. | 2014-10-27 04:05:00 Author: SnipySev Posts: 2452 |
| Danny and Clara are bad teachers, I know we need some exposition delivering on the girl but they really shouldn't be talking so loudly about her issues infront of the other kids. | 2014-10-28 01:26:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| I don't know. Yes, it's possible that if they had just all gone "nope" and stayed where they were everything would have been okay, but then again there were poisoning crews attempting to get rid of the trees, and they stopped that. Also, I like Danny how he is, but I think the whole 'companion couple' thing is too recent to do again. I like the idea that there's something grounding the companion. He knows what's up and is fine with it, but wants no part in it himself. He's seen some things he wishes he wouldn't have and doesn't want to go back into the maw of danger anytime soon. It might happen later, and that might be fine (they already hinted about it anyway) but for now I like that he stays behind. I like it for the same reason that Freema Agyeman is one of my favorite companions. When she realized that she had no future in that kind of life she walked away. It's that depth of character it takes not to just go shooting off into almost certain danger just because it would be cool to see something that I like about him. And coot, I agree. Back in school, it was shocking to see any hint of a life outside school in the teachers, and we liked it that way. The time I saw one teacher at the pool was super awkward and I went way out of my way to avoid being seen by her. It didn't work because my dad saw her and brought her over to talk a bit (he was shirtless and over 300 lbs. and she was in a bikini, which made it all the more awkward of course) *flashback intensifies* | 2014-10-28 07:04:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
| If there's a particular flaw that bugs me about In the Forest of the Night, it has to be the odd bit about the kid's medication. The kid's already knew about her having it, so that doesn't annoy me, but the thing when the Doctor tells not to give the child her medication is kind of "Uh, you know, she probably has that medication for a reason." That wasn't probably intentional, but it sticks out like a toothpick under your toe-nail. | 2014-10-28 11:05:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| Even when the kids have been informed to so extent about her medication/condition it still seems highly unprofessional for them to be talking about it like they were. The don't medicate kids thing they ended up with could've been alright with a few tweeks to move it into medication helps people with a lot of problems but we should also be making more of an effort to talk to people about things. | 2014-10-28 11:15:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg3kDeey_bo&feature=share Kind of a funny trailer leading up to the finale. I've had my money on Missy being the Black Guardian for some time now, though some of my friends are convinced she's the Rani. The Master seems too obvious a choice, but I'm keen to find out who she really is. | 2014-10-29 02:46:00 Author: Chazprime Posts: 587 |
| Best ones so far: Missy = The Female Master Missy = Miss C. = Miss Cyber/Miss Clara/Miss Clever Missy = The Black Guardian Worst ones so far (by EmergencyAwesome): Missy = Susan (because she would, no doubt, call her grandfather her boyfriend) Missy = The TARDIS (kind of embarrassing to think this, really) Ones I wish were true: Missy = Zagreus (though this will never, ever happen) Missy = The Meddling Monk I WILL JUST SAY THAT IF SHE IS THE BLACK GUARDIAN, THEN SHE BETTER DO HER VARIATION OF THIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljlBTj9TYog | 2014-10-29 16:03:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| Missy = Messy The plot surrounding her will become a horrible mess. | 2014-10-29 16:13:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| That's a shame. I'm actually disappointed about who Missy is. It could have been someone more surprising. Could have been someone people didn't think it was going to be. | 2014-11-02 01:35:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
| Good to see Danny killed off pity it probably isn't going to stick. Missy was guessed day one, would have been nice if they had gone for some other returning villain just to broaden the roster a little. Next week some BS like going into the Nethersphere recycle bin and restoring the emotions to kill the cybermen. | 2014-11-02 01:05:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| I think we are not giving enough credit for the fact that they've got Cybermen "right" for the first time ever in the new series. Yeah, funny joke, but all of it is true. The parallel universe Cybermen were a lot like what the real things were in their first two episodes, apart from the fact that they were shoe-horned into a parallel universe just to have the plot point checked on the check list. I didn't like the two-parter because it kind of also made them these murdering machines rather than actually scary humans inside metal bodies. Then we have Army of Ghosts, great surprise ending on both the Daleks and the Cybermen but Doomsday spat in the metallic face of the Cybermen by making them the least impressive thing about the episode because we just needed to have Daleks more impressive for reasons. I despise Doomsday, but the next outing for the Cybermen is almost just as bad. However, the thing with The Next Doctor is that it is apparent they didn't even try. They didn't care about the Cybermen in that story one bit and it showed. It's one of the worst episodes ever, but the lack of attention makes it more fascinating than something I actually hate. Glimmer of hope was The Pandorica Opens, but it wasn't really a Cybermen story so it doesn't strictly count. I know I like Closing Time quite a bit, but as far as the Cybermen were concerned... ugh, despicable. Nightmare in Silver was supposed to be good, it had Neil Gaiman and all. All of that writing talent wasted on the lack of knowledge about what actually makes the Cybermen scary and rather making them super-robots of death. Not impressed. Not. Impressed. Time of the Doctor could be my least favourite episode ever, so no more needs to be said about that. Dark Water? They actually grasped the concept correctly. They actually were humans who willingly gave up their emotions to "live" better. They made them actually somewhat disturbing. The twist ending was obvious, sadly, but it was nicely executed (apart from the snoggy part that only exists to show why female Doctor should happen, but shouldn't happen as long as Moffat is helming the series). I can kind of wait until next week, but I still have high expectations. Good job, people behind Doctor Who. Good job. You made the Cybermen actually interesting again for the first time since Earthshock. Maybe next time you could bring clarity to the fact that Time Lord is not a race, a misconception that has been really digging at the new series for... well, for it's whole run, really. Not to be unreasonable, but the amount of people who don't know that is just bafflingly high. It's even worse when wikipedia articles and other such sites actively tell that Time Lord is a race for some reason. Like, have you seen Invasion of Time? Anyway, gosh I'm messy today. I hope that Clara dies or at least leaves during this finale. Since Moffat is a fan of shocks, you could have her be converted into a Cyberman. Like, that'd be actually cool. Also, question: why was Doctor Chang, or whatever his name was, so surprised when the Doctor didn't know "the three words", since they were seemingly in present day? No thought went into that? At all? Okay, then. | 2014-11-02 07:43:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| It does feel like there's a shortage of ideas sometimes, its not that long since the last time the concept of uploading people and editing them in some way was an episodes major plot point. | 2014-11-02 10:39:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| I like Danny, and knew it wouldn't be forever as soon as they said he was dead. We already knew from before that he has descendants. Time traveling descendants. I see why some people don't like Danny, but there have been companions that people hated more that changed over time and that in the end people liked. Remember Mickey? Yeah, just because he isn't liked much yet doesn't mean it can't happen. Saying you like that he died is a bit harsh, don't you think? We barely know him. To me though, the most disappointing thing about this episode is that making The Master come back as a Time Lady means The Doctor can't do that, at least not for quite a while. Which means that they don't need to look for a writer capable of writing a female Doctor, which Moffat certainly isn't. That and she doesn't seem quite as crazy as The Master was last time we saw him. I don't know. I'll save final judgement until we see the end of this arc next week, but so far I'm not happy with it. | 2014-11-02 11:07:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
| Yeah. Danny's death was the highlight of the episode. It was just a surprising gut-punch that unsettled me so much that I didn't realize he'd be back until the opening titles were done and I remembered: "Oh, yeah, heaven." I have liked Danny, more than most, apparently, but I don't think he is anyhow particularly outstanding, at least yet. I mean, not just because he's exceptionally attractive, but he has charisma and is quite likable, even though there are a couple of elements about him that have been overlapped by the "Oh, he's like that because he's a soldier." Like, come on! People are more than their occupations!" --- Now that we have the premises of these episodes all clear, I think we can all say that as far as Moffat's venture to make series 8 "The biggest departure since 2005" is considered, he has failed spectacularly blandly and without even a whimper, other than Flatline and MAYBE, MAYBE In the Forest of the Night. This is just like series 7, except this one feels like a complete series and has actually given Clara a personality. She's not just a cardboard cut-out, so I suppose that's a departure a little bit? Also, this series doesn't have a spectacularly low point, kind of like series 3 didn't (shut up, the dalek two-parter is enjoyable because it TRIES). I mean, low points are there, but nothing takes a dive into the deep end, like "Father's Day", "Fear Her", "Doomsday", "The Next Doctor", "The Lodger", "Let's Kill Hitler", "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe", "Asylum of the Daleks", "The Time of the Doctor" and "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS" (worst episodes of New Who so far). | 2014-11-02 22:18:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| It does feel like there's a shortage of ideas sometimes, its not that long since the last time the concept of uploading people and editing them in some way was an episodes major plot point. I suspect the lion's share of Moffat's good ideas wind up in Sherlock. I really hope that he's on his way out; I feel as if just about everything from The Bells of Saint John until now has been mostly lackluster. Still, I liked this episode quite a bit...even though I don't really buy the idea of Time Lords changing sex, I think the actress playing Missy was fantastic. Also, question: why was Doctor Chang, or whatever his name was, so surprised when the Doctor didn't know "the three words", since they were seemingly in present day? No thought went into that? At all? Okay, then. Because if the Doctor were indeed there on some sort of company inspection as he claimed, he would probably know the three words that the company was founded upon. | 2014-11-02 22:43:00 Author: Chazprime Posts: 587 |

| There's a differance between a throwaway line and major plot point. Also if you really want to stretch it it is the end game of something started 15 years ago. Maybe we'll get the line about the sonic screwdriver having three settings thrown in too. | 2014-11-03 19:26:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

| Have to admit I loved Capaldi's facial expression the moment of the Master reveal... that look of horror. Still, I have to wonder what the Cybermen's overall goal is... they seemed to just be ignoring people in the street and apart from building their army up we learn little about why they formed an alliance with the Master/Mistress. | 2014-11-03 20:52:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
| I don't really buy the idea of Time Lords changing sex. Despite The Doctor's Wife? Oh... I see... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U3jrS-uhuo I wonder what that is. Especially around 3:31 mark. ALSO: My top Masters (not including comics, Big Finish or Screams of the Shalka, or Missy): 1. Anthony Ainley 2. Roger Caesar Marius Bernard de Delgado Torres Castillo Roberto 3. Derek Jacobi 4. Peter Pratt/Geoffrey Beevers (same incarnation, really) 5. Eric Roberts (I actually kind of like this one) 6. John Simm (not a fan of this one) I believe Michelle will end up quite high on that list, as long as they don't make the mistake of making her an antihero for some reason. She is greatly villanous, malevolent and knows exactly how to make the Doctor uncomfortable. Really interested in her plan, as well. | 2014-11-03 21:48:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| For real though, how are they letting Danny be dead? This is not possible. They interacted with the genetic future of his timeline, and thus ensured that it would exist. And now he's dead without kids. Which makes it not happen. That is one major plot hole right there. Super huge. But man, I had prepared for a particular feels truck to slam into me. That one went on by, and I got creamed by a totally different feels truck I didn't see coming. In a way, Missy being the Master lulled me into a false sense of ease, thinking that they hadn't gotten super out there creative in the story. I was wrong. ಠ_ಠ | 2014-11-08 23:26:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |

| Spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Wow. Rip Dan the Solider Man... not Dan the Cyber Man. I also do not think Missy was lying about gallafrey. She gave the doctor the right coordinates, but the catch was that it in a different universe. Different universe pocket, same location. But wow, the fact about clara and the doctor coming together because of missy is just crazy. I also love moffat for the bit where the Doctor was given an army, that was just brilliant. | FLYBERMEN! HEY MISSY YOU'RE SO FINE! DOCTOR SKYDIVING WITH KEY IN HAND TOWARDS THE TARDIS! HOW DOES ORSON EVEN EXIST LIKE I DON'T CARE. CYBER-BRIG! CYBER-BRIG! DOES WHATEVER CYBER-BRIG DOES! DOES HE KILL THE MASTER? YES HE DOES, HE'S THE BRIG! #WhoIsSanta The episode didn't disappoint. Also, the Doctor Clara gag was excellent, in-your-face example of how to react when people complain about the companion being too central in the show, as if they weren't the second main character. 8/10. Why are you looking at me like that, I'm completely serious! 3rd best story this series. I'd probably rank them something like: 1. Mummy on the Orient Express 2. Flatline 3. Dark Water/Death in Heaven 4. In the Forest of the Night 5. Time Heist 6. Robot of Sherwood 7. Into the Dalek 8. The Caretaker 9. Deep Breath 10. Kill the Moon (the only one I don't quite like) ('Listen' is not included because I still have no idea about whether that episode was good or bad.) Also, Hyperdude, the Master did lie, because she said that Gallifrey had returned to its original location, when it hadn't. | 2014-11-09 09:12:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| HOW DOES ORSON EVEN EXIST LIKE I DON'T CARE. At the beginning of Dark Water, one of the notes on Clara's wall mentions "Miniature Clara." There might also be one that says "3 months" or something, so yeah, she must be pregnant already. -Missy's motives were very interesting, although it doesn't make a whole lot of sense with her trying to kill the Doctor with the airplane exploding if the whole Cyberman army was there for the Doctor to end up controlling. (Unless her being "bananas" is a viable excuse.) - Still confused about the whole "The dead remain conscious" detail. This is still true, right? Missy used the deceased minds uploaded to 3W to create a Cyberman army for the Doctor, but that doesn't go against the fact that the dead still remain conscious... - That whole airplane scene was great. And why do so many people think that Kate didn't survive the fall, when it was clear that she was saved by "that" Cyberman? - The beginning part with Clara pretending to be the Doctor felt a bit unnecessary, but her discussion with the Doctor at the end was great. - Kind of an anticlimactic showdown, but I was more okay with it as this wasn't a "Take over the world" threat, but something personal from the Master (and it doesn't seem too unlikely for her return, especially considering how great Michelle Gomez was). - Still, the whole "power of love" bit was ehh, but ah well (possibly because the lack of buying Clara/Danny's love for each other). - I was hoping that there was something more to the dark water when the clouds came about, but from what it sounds like, they were just a tidbit added in to build up to the Cyberman reveal, which.. didn't amount to a whole lot with the Cyberman eye doors and the Cybermean reveal shown everywhere by the BBC. - Sad to see Osgood go, yet another person who would be great to travel with the Doctor.. now dead... sigh. - It was a bit odd to see them jump on a plane right after finding out about flying Cybermen. Also, who's the genius that decided for them not to confiscate Missy of her weapons. Aand they only had two guards watching her, neither of which bothered reacting to her moving to Osgood... sigh. - Santa busting into the Tardis at the end was awesome. | 2014-11-10 02:51:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
| Miniature Clara was probably a throwback to 'Into the Dalek'. And yes, Hyper. Upon telling the coordinates, she said: "Returned to it's original location, did you never think to look?" | Its the same one that Tennant had years ago, the next series plot is all about it. Actually, David Tennant had a satsuma in The Christmas Invasion. You need to know the difference between the ensemble of orange-like-but-not-quite-orange fruits: Clementines, kumquats, mandarins, minneolas, tangelos, satsuma, tangerines and uglis are different fruits. Actually, I think that you'll find a lot in common between your knowledge of fruits and the last of that ensemble. | 2014-12-17 19:09:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| I think the biggest sins were the repeats of things that they've already done in recent seasons. W've already had the Doctor hiding somwhere for a while, the Doctor is going to die soon and the things he does to delay that several times it just feels lazy bringing them up again so soon. | 2015-09-21 14:03:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
| The beginning two-parter sucked. "Under the Lake" had depth to it, however. It was haunting awesome. It doesn't only scratch the surface but it delves deep. The villains were scary. I'm being dead serious, they were. It feels a tad bit too watered down, but it's Doctor Who back to the base-ics. The message really sunk in for me. | Honestly I think Moffat needs to be replaced, but that said he does far better at long story arcs than individual episodes. I think this season seems like it could be okay but so far it's hard t tell any more than that it's slightly better than last season. Also, I don't like Clara. There was one incarnation of her where she was likeable but this one isn't her. (edit for clarity - I liked genius dalek clara, and given that he knows how to fix a dalek now he could totally go back and save her and make her human again and take that one with him because that's the best version of her imho) Side note - interesting how many companions in the new series have multiple incarnations of themselves. The only one I can think of that is only one version is Martha. I mean there's Rose/Bad Wolf/The Moment, Mickey/Rickey, Donna/TheDoctorDonna, Amy/the one that got abandoned for decades in that facility, Rory/plastic Rory, River/data ghost River, and Clara/Dalek Clara/infinite other Claras throughout the Doctors timeline. I'd kill for a companion that was just one person. Heck, there was even Danny Pink/Cyberman Danny. And he was never a companion. They need to stop that. | 2015-10-09 23:41:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
| I know it's kind of funny how everyone instantly jumps to say that whenever someone writes a good episode they should be the showrunner, but I'm just saying... Toby Whithouse should be the showrunner. I mean, he does have actual experience in heading a strong television show, as seen in BEING HUMAN. And he wrote a better story than Moffat has since... probably since series 5? Who knew? | 2015-10-13 01:08:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| My only nitpicks were that it went with oh noes dead Doctor again and its paradox thing has been happening too much recently too. Agreed. | I was kind of bored by the last two episodes, to be honest. Like, the first one does that thing where it slightly progresses the plot every ten minutes and then crams everything into the last five. The second one had actual plot progression, but the dialogue scenes felt kind of repetitive until the end. Not really a big fan of either, which is a shame. I really do love historical episodes, but they haven't been recently done well or at all. | 2015-10-25 20:23:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Okay, I need some place to ramble about what has been told about the final two episodes. There is no new information, but some pretty specific and scaleful story content is mentioned and if you only know the vague, basic descriptions, here is some pretty major stuff about the finale that I don't suggest reading. However, if you have read, then here is what I think. http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/bbc-confirms-extended-length-series-9-finale-78109.htm So, Heaven Sent is what I am really excited about. Doctor Who tends to be at its best when it is at its most experimental. I'm not the biggest fan of Blink, but I recognize that both it and its spiritual predecessor, Love & Monsters are both (yes, both) great individual episodes that completely define the traits of their writers. When we get to see experimental stories, we always learn more about the minds behind them. For those who know Big Finish, you probably know Scherzo, right? The infamous two-hander where the Doctor and his companion Charlie meat a flesh blob in hyperdimensional brightness and starts to steal their form, fusing them together and making them start cannibalizing one another while talking about their feelings, because that's all there is left for them. That is a story with a specific limitation telling the audience more about the mind behind the story than any of Robert Shearman's other stories (he wrote the TV-episode Dalek and most of the best BF stories). Found-footage gimmick was used in a new and experimental way last week, but while it didn't work on all technical terms, Sleep No More is my favourite story this season so far because it didn't only have the guts to go weird, but in doing so, it showed the audience its metaphorical guts. Not the best of Mark Gatiss's scripts, but one of them and it also tells us more about Mark than his other episodes, even more than Crimson Horror. So imagine what I think when I hear the the penultimate episode is a one-hander. The first in Doctor Who history. That will, at the very least, be interesting. And if it has any inspiration behind it, it should tell us something of Steven Moffat that we don't already know. Hell Bent sounds less interesting, as I fear it will be another "too epic for its boots" like Time of the Doctor. But, we'll see. Oh, more about Scherzo? Well, the Doctor and Charlie travel into a universe of anti-time, where the TARDIS is consumed by a deafening brightness. In that brightness, the flesh creature starts to steal their forms, making them fuse into an amalgamation that begins to eat itself while passing the salt to make itself tastier. Also, there is a cryptic story about a King who banned the music and eventually, once it was returned to the kingdom, the music got mad and killed everyone horribly. You know, the average, normal person kind of writing :-) As for the Zygon two-parter... loved it to bits. I had zero hopes for Peter Harness after Kill the Moon, but this was a great and its metaphor wasn't self-indulgent hypocrisy. Sleep No More is the most impressive and interesting episode probably since Waters of Mars. Not the best by any stretch, but the most interesting. | 2015-11-19 23:22:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
| Sleep No More is the most impressive and interesting episode probably since Waters of Mars. Not the best by any stretch, but the most interesting. | I liked Face the Raven. It not quite Mummy or Zygon two-parter, but it's more on the level of Flatline or Under the Lake/Before the Flood. Oh, by the way, Clara's probably back in the finale. I'm calling it right now, Yeah, it would've been better if Asylum of the Daleks, The Snowmen, Bells of Saint John, Journey to the Center of the Tardis and Name of the Doctor didn't happen. I mean, on one hand, I get that series 7B is very much thematically about the fandom's obsession with objectifying the companion characters as simple tools rather than people, but you don't need to fake-kill the character five times in her first series to drive that point home. Then the times she has almost left the team, aside from those moments... Time of the Doctor, Deep Breath, Kill the Moon, In the Forest of the Night, Death in Heaven and Last Christmas. That's a total of 11 times of calling the wolf, which I believe to be somewhat thematic, but inexcusable nonetheless. You can't just not almost make her leave 10 episodes in a row after that kind of mess and expect us to take it seriously when she does. But, as I said, I really liked Face the Raven. Series 9 is a lot like series 3 in that respect that the only two episodes of questionable quality are parts of the Dalek two-parter early in the series. The rest has ranged from "Alright" (The Girl Who Died) to "Pretty dang awesome" (The Zygon Inversion). Face the Raven is closer to the latter one, if I am asked. Now, please don't make me one of approximately 9 people who like the finale and have to defend it. I've had enough of that with The Last of the Time Lords. | 2015-11-22 10:02:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Okay, spoilers for Heaven Sent. Can I just say how satisfied I am that there is an episode of Doctor Who that can be described in this way? An episode with a magical castle that resets itself constantly. An episode with a monster that can only be stopped by confessions. An episode with the solution being punching a wall about 10 billion times. Honestly, it feels like something out of Big Finish. That is just amazing to think about. We really have come to the point where an episode like this can be properly made and then it bloody is. I mean, Heaven Sent is a mess in some aspects. It doesn't really make sense on the whole, it doesn't go as weird and as existential as it could and it does have some of the more annoying Moffat tropes in it that have stopped working half-way through series 7, but the episode is just so nuts it doesn't actually fall because of those flaws. It's like Sleep No More, but even more ambitious and alien. And that is spectacular. | 2015-11-29 18:00:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Poll: next big speech. I'm the Doctor, I'm two thousand years old. I'm the Doctor, I'm two billion years old. I'm the Doctor, I'm one day old. Well, he's not really two billion years old, since he kept resetting himself in a closed space for two billion years. Also, he has teleported before. While the science hasn't really ever been explained, we can only assume that all the teleports just create a new body out of the energy of the last body that disintegrated. SInce it hasn't been a factor before (and he has been teleported lots of times) I'm gonna go with the first one. | 2015-11-29 19:19:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Hell Bent sent me into a rampage of unchecked rage. While there are some good things in there, they're all covered in a crapstorm of a mess that cannibalizes every loose (or firm) bit of continuity it can to jerk a reaction from the viewers while ripping the show into messes. If the Doctor can just save anyone from a certain death ("Everybody lives!"), where's the tension of the show? So the Doctor is canonically 4,5 billion years old? Screw that. Apparently the end of the universe is 4,5 billion years into the future and not 100 trillion years like in Utopia. So the Time Lords placed the confession dial in the middle of the desert for no reason? Now there's another practically immortal TARDIS crew endlessly filling the universe with their own copies since they will literally never die. The Doctor has now killed a person dead to save another. Double standards. What was that bit about Fisher Kind denying the laws of life and death? Double standards at their WORST. Face the Raven is officially a bad episode now. Heaven Sent no longer has impact. Danny died for nothing while he could've been saved. What was Time of the Doctor supposed to be about if the Time Lords could just return whenever? Gallifrey is at the end of the universe, but apparently "only for the time being." Goodbye any relevance Time War ever had. Goodbye any relevance the Doctor's character ever had. Worst series arc resolution EVER that is only worse for ripping apart what made the Doctor an effective character to begin with. I am bloody furious. No amount of silly Time Lord hats, Rassilon shenanigans, silly looking blasters or progressiveness is going to save this show anymore. Doctor Who is canonically ruined. Steven Moffat really broke millions of hearts to heal his own ego. Not watching the show until he leaves I bloody swear. Series 9 was, before Hell Bent, one of my favourites. It's now my least favourite by miles. | 2015-12-07 15:31:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

| Nobody... a year... wut?! Anyone watching the new series? Last episode was pretty good. The companion is boring though. lame lesbian jokes and a hard to understand accent aren't interesting. | 2017-05-21 15:33:00 Author: jimydog000 Posts: 813 |
| Yeah.. not a huge fan of the new companion. Hate to say it, but she is a bit dense like Pinky is to The Brain in Pinky and the Brain. I do like the guy, Nardo. | 2017-05-21 16:05:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
| yeah, I'm not digging this new companion either. They need to do something different here. | 2017-05-21 17:19:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

| I have a feeling I'll like her more than the past two doctors. The last one was too old doctor who for me (before revival), and the one before that was a bit too whimsical for my liking (and the writing was inconsistent) | 2017-07-21 18:01:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |
