Something BIG is coming: Kindred

Those symbols are keypad numbers...

Alt + 5, then let go of Alt, what are the numbers?

☺ ☻ ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ • ◘ ○
Left to right: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

This is what I got: 575547

Alt + 5 doesn't work for me.

What did you use?

(And yes, it's right behind you. )

You hold Alt, then push a number on the far right of the keyboard, which is the keypad, don't use the row of numbers above all the letters. When you push a number, let go of Alt.

EDIT: Also be sure to turn on number lock.

I pressed Alt + 7, but it took me to my home page!

Do I need to use the Number Lock? The numbers on the right don't work unless it's on. :/

I edited this threads URL with the code to fit into a post.
Example:

http: //www. lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?32119-Something-BIG-is-coming...&p=612499&viewfull=1#post612499

Take the two last lines of numbers and replace it with the code. I also put spaces in there so the forum doesn't think it's a link.

He means the post count. (Which TOTALLY intrests The Hoarder )

Back on topic, I'm curious to know how our assumptions on this project turned out to be so accurate. Considering we were just told the same thing like 20 times in different ways and that all we got was an SOS, two posters, and a picture of the tribal characters, I'm kind of wondering if the group implemented some (or all considering that the name of the levels is Kindred) of our ideas into the levels. Either that or they purposely told someone so subconciously slip the idea into our heads unnoticed so you guys were really telling us more about the project then we even realised.... if so then you guys are true media mongrels,

Doesn't matter though I'm still playing this anyway .

You know I'm starting to regret dropping out of French class...

@Silver39 PSHH I can count to a million .

If you guys explored the "grid.file" level, you will see that there's a decoder just a bit to the right of the level.

The level's description said, "Pick Up....Place" So I copied the level to "My Moon", went to edit, and then dragged and place the decoder over the code. What I got was - Page 44

Which means someone edited their post on that page of the thread with new info!!

EDIT: I'm on my PSP right now, so if someone could check Pg. 44 out if I was right, that'd be great.

Still, I'm getting annoyed by his constant PMs telling me how "clever" his hunt was and how "I should be more obidient like Jeff". I was okay with the bragging, but mentioning jeff was too far!

So... how about this: first one to get it wins 200XP. No tricks. All I need from you guys is the final message Hoarder has hidden.

Alright, sorry for the double post here, but it seems as though the Hoarder keeps on using "Your World of Text" as the platform for his ciphers.
**** That stupid mediafire link opened a popup site; "H---yMatches.com" Nice job, Hoarder! >_>

Anyway, I couldn't find anything in the jpg image version of the mediafire link. Photoshop didn't recognize it as a proper jpeg file, so I saved it as a png, and got it to open. No luck. Only one layer and nothing else, behind or in front of the image. No decompression allowed as it's just a single file.
Argh. CyberSora, please tell me whether it was supposed to be the your world of text image, or the puzzling one.

Anyway, I have my suspicions, and I shall investigate them... later...

As Cybersora seems to be keen for us to see both pictures, here is my conclusion. It's steganography. For those who don't know what that is, here's an explanation.

The digital steganography used by the Russians relies on subtly changing a photograph to hide the message. The process to achieve that is ingenious. Computers assign each pixel of a photograph a numeric value based on the amount of red. green and blue it needs to show. The message, a piece of text, would also be represented by figures in a computer. Steganography software tweaks the numbers in the original picture so the numbers of the message are encoded in a specific way. If the message recipient has the same software, they can recover the message's numbers- and therefore the message itself. The crucial thing, to avoid detection, is that the brightness and colouration of the pixels in the original photograph are so subtle that they cannot be seen by the naked eye.

I know the Hoarder has been using codes, and I am the master of the ciphers. If someone has that software, maybe we could solve it. It may be a lot simpler than that, and I'm afraid of downloading the software as I am not using my own computer.

Secondly, you may notice that both sackboys have the same left eye, but different right eyes, odd, ey?

I've transferred looking at both images in quick succession, but then you say it is too subtle, I'll look at the color tints really quick. Also while I did this I saw nothing changing with the eyes.

EDIT: I've looked, nothing interesting.

Okay, I'm going to give you guys a major clue. One that'll finally debunk all your current theories:

The picture is the final stage of the hunt.

In other words, there is no other clues, codes, nor anything like wise. It doesn't involve me, my avatar, any other edited post, nor LBPC itself. With that said, I suggest you start messing around with that file until you get something out of it.

If trying to figure this out gets my Vaio infected with a virus, I'm blaming it on the Hoarder!
Blame it on the H-h-h-h-h-h-Hoarder!

You know what I think? We're trying to figure out some clue or message that doesn't exist!
So we're working hard for nothing! Nothing!
This is just to buy The Hoarder some time...

No. It's only in the Puzzling picture (the JPEG version). Everything else is not apart of the final stage.

Fine, I'll spill it...
If you look at the image size, it is about 800kb in size, but I captured the image and re-saved another version, the same file type, and a name with one letter different. I found this: The image that is supposedly the same is only 200kb. The original image has 600kb more data than the plain image file. Conclusion? The image has some kind of compressed file inside of it, but I don't know how to get it out, I even googled it, I didn't see one solution. So anyone care to try?

The images original size was about 800kb

While not having a PSP, I've still been very intrigued by the Hoarder's little games. Definitely got a very artistic motif to him; You can see it a bit better when the image is enhanced as the other two were. Leaving this here for anyone interested, hidden in spoilers for anyone who's not. (Or, since I can't make IMG tags work in a spoiler, will just leave a link.)

Probably my favorite of them all so far, but I've always had a soft spot for French inspired things... now if only I could figure out that french message that was posted so far back that as far as I can tell still hasn't been made sense of.

Well right now they're going in the order presented in the Prologue, so next is Medieval Writers.

Futuristic Logic Men scare me...

Ahem. Back on topic, I think the Medieval Writers are the tribe specialising in epic story lines and series. I wonder if each minion creates has his own tribe which he creates for, perhaps in the type of gameplay he specialises in, or will are they all working on each together?

I knew one of you PS3ers would get it.

I was actually amazed to see everyone struggle. I mean, I was making this and though "Surely they'll figure it out in a couple of hours, so why not make it longer?" But after consulting myself, I thought a medium difficulty hunt was good enough. I never would have guessed that this was going to take 2 days to solve!

Anyways, as promised, you win 200XP. No questions asked. I am a man of my word, and I feel like you deserve it considering that you had to witness the others struggle before you decided to come in and help.

Hey all,

The Hoarder wanted me to let you all know that he has finally gone around to updating the opening post. I bugged him a lot while he was getting a massage at a spa, and I have the lash scars to prove it. Please don't let my pain be for nothing: go check it out! We are in charge of updating it as the project progresses, so be sure to look once in a while for updates and opportunities to take part in this project.

For those smarty pants who figured out CyberSora's torturous puzzle, congratulations! I don't think I could've figured that out. Hehe.

And everyone please remember to stay on topic. I am still an active CHIMP hungry for spam. We have already stated that everyone in the community will be given the opportunity to take part in the create process, so begging is unnecessary. I'll let it go this one time, but the next beggar will be reported. That is all folks. Please continue speculating...

Awesome sauce jeffcu! I knew we can count on you!

You know, I used to think of you as Hoarder's "Kiss Butt Pet", but after that brutal lashing I think you're alright. Who knows, maybe this can be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Anyways, I updated The Recap with both the hunt's 3 day history and with the OP's announcement (with a bit of warning of course).

Peace

I have one question. All Hoarder's images have name like Platformeranianteasernewlogo.png. Only the one image in the thread to the Kindred: Prologue has name 9a7120cb.png. What do you think it does mean?

P.S: A tried to write this code in address and I found this: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=9a7120cb
An old thread from year 2007.

Now that my friend is a weird coincidence!

So there will be contests for who gets to make some objects for this project?

Also, check my last post.

As it's no more a "secret",
I just wanted to finally make a little post here
and thanks the people who left kind comments about the teaser pictures..!

As this project is gonna be awesome, I tried my best to represent it, and this, of course, with the help and creativity of all the creators involved, who came up with great ideas and original characters!

So... thanks!

I think they well to their best to keep us involved, it would be great to do a little creating though.

We had better not bug the minions about it though. We don't want to get the Hoarder annoyed...

Hey everyone,

Thank you so much for showing interest in this project. We are all very excited to see your enthusiasm and can't wait to see what you all come up with when our slew of contests will surface.

With that said, we do NOT need Easter Island statues or purple rocks. We will tell you all what the project needs when the time comes, but until then, please refrain from posting random pictures. Thanks for listening and your support.

The date Fastbro gave is accurate.

Our master has been whipping us mercilessly as we toil around the clock, which is why we haven't posted here that much recently. In fact, the only reason I was able to escape the sweatshop collaborative working area is because he's exhausted from all the beatings he's been handing out. (On a side note, we've finally discovered how to get a lunch break.)

I'm overdue for my late-mid-morning flogging, so I need to run, but I can tell you this: "Stuff is on the way."

One never knows what form the beatings will take.

Today it was skateboards soaked in turpentine and set ablaze. Tomorrow it may be lengths of frozen hot links reinforced with bull kelp, but the popular choice lately has been bronze cherub statues chained together like disturbing winged-infant nunchucks. For the holidays it has been promised that we will have frozen turkeys fired at us with a trebuchet.

This costume totally fits the tribe, it gives a lot more away seeing it in colour! Not sure what stickers you used though... Here is a quick Costume Analysation:

-Helmet- For safety, it seems Platformeranians don't always stay on their platforms.

-Plasters- See above

-Pillow- See above again

-Wings- I think these are of no actual use, but are a symbol of their 'jumping' speciality

-Green ominous fizzy stuff- Not sure, but the Platformeranians may not want to be destracted by futile things such as thirst in those perfectly timed leaps

-Bandages- See top

Well guys, I just came back from living with the Platformeranians!
They sure are energetic people!

I will now do everyone a favor and break down everything in the picture.
I have learned a lot from living with them, and their culture is very diverse.

The Wing Bucket (Helmet): Safety first! That's one of their major priorities. Why you ask? Well, their homes and bridges are DEFINITELY NOT stable! Trust me, I fell off a few times and nearly stained my pants each time.

The Antennae: They told me that it was to make their helmet look more epic than it already is.

The Warning Sign (Helmet): Again, to make their helmets look more epic.

Wings: They are NOT used for flying! The reason they put that there is - A) Used for "drag" when running and then stopping and B) To make their helmets look more epic.

Bandages: They basically risk their lives running at top speed! I nearly crashed into one of them while walking through the forest! They get tattered and ripped by tree branches, and other pointed objects.

Safety Cushion: They don't like it when you call it a "pillow". Seriously, DON'T call it a pillow. I tried asking them why they have it, and they grabbed me and threw me off a cliff! Just because I called it a, "pillow". Don't worry, I didn't get injured. They bungee jumped down and caught me in mid-air O_O

And last but not least! What everyone's been wanting to know....
The Drink!

It's actually-

Cyber Sora. Without a doubt.

His wisecracks are great for comic relief in our sweat shop studio, but can only go so far with the boss.

I will admit, his disobedience has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the team, and we are now primed and ready for a good old fashioned mutiny.

Who am I kidding? ...... that would never happen. Could it?

What's the Hoarder going to do to B3?2010-10-23 02:57:00

We don't know. My guess is that he's going to rip out his intestines stuffing and make a pillow with it to sleep on his new problem: finding a new pillow because B3 is too lumpy.

Any want to take a guess? Anyone?

so does this mean B3 is banned because mods are in on this and didnt want to scare us with tales of the hoarder. So i think they felt his lack of posting could be forgotten because of the ban.

On topic: Its been a while, I hope you minions have all been kept busy creating. I cannot wait for more news, my detectors can gain no more information from the pictures. Btw: Oh, has anyone checked for anymore suspicious unnamed levels?

Sorry guys, but I don't want to bring people excited and end up having a buzz kill.

I'm here to clarify my response...

When I said soon meaning 30 days, I was like "uh oh". Now let me clarify my response. Someone, I think long ago pulled up a definition of I think "Soon" it was. One of the definitions said less than 30 days. I somewhat laughed. Then a few days ago someone replied from another thread and brought it up. I then said my thing and... I did Not mean to say it will be done in 30 days. Infact, I'm not sure when it will. If you complain to the authors to create, we'd probably be working faster. Our group is actually going a bit slow on creating, but we are ACTIVE bringing new ideas such as contests, story, and more. I'm sorry if I brought attention, but there is no release date as of now.

We are, however, working on the first three levels. Not just one. So I hope that helps.

If you want me to cheer you up, then I'll add something somewhat off topic.
Halloween is near!! (I hear a certain creator is building a Halloween level.)

@Spark: Thanks for clearing that up, keep up the hard work.

Looks like you guys have got some (possible) competition: http://www.littlebigland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=52162010-10-25 12:41:00

Ouch. Do they realise we are not that competitive? Or how much danger they are in if the Hoarder finds out?!

Hehe, they may be in for a whipping.

It would be nice if LBL took initiative and started creating some community projects of their own though, I haven't heard much from their side, but correct me if I missed something.
