LittleBigPlanet 3 Private Beta Invites (Thread #2)

Have we got any time frame on when people will officially be able to show beta footage? I can't remember how long it was after the LBPVita beta went live we could actually post youtube videos.2014-08-23 17:26:00

Why cant everyone just be happy with the fact that they are even making an lbp 3 even if you don't get to test the beta you shouldn't be upset about it. So what you don't get in, its not the end of the world. lbp 3 will be out November 18 which is only three months away and then everyone can play it. Just because you have played lbp since it first came out doesn't mean that you should get special treatment there are still people who have never played lbp who should get introduced to this great game.

Anyway im pretty excited for the 16 layers that you can create on, im also excited for all the new logic. Its gonna be a really fun day for me when it comes out.

I agree, we the people on the forums are greedy. Most of us here just joined LBPC to get into the beta, I feel bad to say this just like everyone else who is afraid to say it... I joined to just get into the beta, I can't lie that I enjoyed the community and received help but other than that my eye was on the gold which is the beta and it still is. StenenI... Before all this, we had maybe 4 - 5 members join a day if that. Then came the July rush.. 400 - 500 new members all wanting and expecting codes. Many due to an incorrect article listing us. Even after we quickly pointed that out and they updated.... they all were coming for codes.		2014-08-23 17:49:00

NOBODY should expect codes, not MVP's, not EXTREME creators, nobody, it's very hard to get in

I mean if you are an XDev, then that is a different story obviously, but I have totaled thousands of hours on LBP and I still don't expect codes

Although it would be nice if there was an all seeing sackboy eye that could tell if you were a creator and pass you a code, sadly nobody is stalking everyone and hence you are not getting a code regardless of merit

I mean, it's not hard to understand the concept of slim possibility in getting chosen, but lots of new threads popping up with the same concept think to think it is so let me clarify for all of you who expect a code coming soon

I'm pretty sure I only signed up here because an article said that LBPCentral was giving away keys for LBP2 beta. If any users signed up because they thought they'd get an LBP3 beta key, I wouldn't hold it against them. I just hope whoever's spreading that misinformation didn't get a key.2014-08-24 00:01:00

Can't wait for this game to come out, I'll probably flunk out of college when this releases haha.

There's SOOOOO many games in my head that I want to try out when this game is released, like actual FPS games with 360* rotation, multiplayer games, RTS games, Tower Defense games, RPGs, BIGGER shmup games (My specialty) with more complexity, more customizations (like a couple billion variations in 1 game) with bigger BAUS FIGHTS, more room for levels and more detailed backgrounds...

IT BLOWS MEH MIND what will be possible with the next game.

Hopefully if they do a 2nd wave for testers, the kids with their nose up the window salivating for a taste can get in...

I mean, that would be cool and all.

I'm sorry, shouldn't of just thrown statements out. Every LBP beta there has been waves of beta keys, so using that I'm applying that to the LBP3 beta.

EDIT: Not trying to give anyone false hope, take my statement with a grain of salt if you must. Sumo is going to run this like MM would, they wouldn't just completely take LBP in a 180. The LBP1 beta, LBP2 beta, was ran in similar fashions. Why change it?		2014-08-24 16:34:00

lol... it depends. I just felt him boasting about seeing NDA and flaunting in this thread was a bit much. Especially considering how many have been so good about it all.

I know how frustrating it is to be out of the loop, so I take exception to that particular type of gloating.

I made another post that I think I explained it quite well.

Look.. I am trying to be nice and let those that didn't get in talk about the beta in this thread. ..but if someone flaunts "I know this and you can't stop me" due to someone else breaking the rules and posting info or videos.. I think that is pretty irritating and not fair to others that don't break NDA and are respectful to other members.

So in this case.. it has nothing to do with NDA. It has everything to do with not respectful to other members, which is also part of our rules.

We especially have to take account what kind of forum this is, I think. I've been on several forums (take IGN Boards for example) that have inflammatory content and unnecessary debates. The reason? There's a constant traffic of posts. There's so much activity, as in several threads made per minute, that it's impossible for there to be any strict moderation.

Now looking at this forum where only 3-4 threads get posts each day (often less), there's a much larger sense of intimacy and therefore respectfulness of each other is expected. With activity so low compared to other sites, we also see anything and everything that is posted which makes a huge difference.

At least that's how I view it. If there's a student texting in a college class of 200 students, and a student texting in a private class of 20 students, which one is more likely to get caught? 		2014-08-24 18:37:00

Funny... we don't feel sporadic. ..and no we are not an Official PS forum.

However we do comply very much so with their NDA agreements as we have a very good working relationship with them and would like to continue to do so.

If you post leaked information... that is a problem. If you don't... no problem. If you look around there is a whole other set of threads concerning wishes, rumors and suggestions concerning LBP3.

But the reason I say I feel like i am in a official Playstation forum is because I remember someone posted the patch info for somthing and the posts were deleted followed up by you saying that LBPC has an agreement with Playstation or something along those lines. That is what made me uncomfortable here, the removal of posts liks those. Saying that your not allowd to post things not confirmed by Sony... what? Then whats the point of the forum? ..and the site rules specifically state you cannot disclose NDA information and we always will delete those types of posts. Even hacked information is not allowed as it goes against Sony's EULA. This site has always done that and will continue to. That was the only stuff we removed. We don't care of people guess on what all will be included. ..in the speculation thread. The other thread was a thread about What we know that was confirmed by Sony. ..anything else would be off topic. You keep missing the point of why we are doing things.

Speaking of which can we get back on topic? ...if you have anything further, you are more than welcome to send a PM. I just think it sad we have to disrupt this thread. You could even make a thread in Site Feedback. Just please no more in this thread.

How about scones? I'm starting to become less of a sweet tooth. If the 2nd wave is confirmed and there's more chance of getting in, then I possibly make scones and munch on them while I find some bugs to report (don't know if they already found by popular creators)

Yep ... that's always a problem, especially when sites that write articles get hold off it. They tend to write lengthy articles on what doesn't work and finish with 'but I'm sure it will be sorted out eventually', which is too late because the damage is done. 99% of negativity cannot be easily balanced by a 1% 'aside'. I hate these types of articles and the people that comment on them on Gaff and N4Gs!

I personally would love to help(member since christmas lbp1) but i never got the chance. Why wouldnt people find bugs? Have some faith in humanity, maybe an 8 year old wouldve found a game breaking glitch, age doesnt matter. A public beta would be good for stess testing, so even if people didnt find bugs, they could still help. it wont cost money or resources/time, justmake it a public download onthe store and done. That bit in bold proves you don't understand the flaws of public betas. Private betas are better than public ones, the negatives of a public beta outweigh the positives. Many people agree with this, and may developers also believe this, so there is no need to highlight me as some anti-public beta guy. Judging my your join date, you only came here to have a chance of getting in the Beta. The majority of people who did that only came to get early access, and weren't saying "Oh yes, pick me, I love finding bugs and flaws!".

It is equal to a lot of people shouting in a room without any order.

Most "public betas" are actually just server tests and glorified demos, without actually paying attention to bugs because of the aforementioned reasons. In all fairness, if you are trying to debate a point you don't really want to give fuel to an opposition which could use it against you.

The fact of the matter is that at this point in time the beta is a private one. This might change, it might not. We must trust that the developers organised a system that best suits them and at the end of the day that is what's most important. A beta is a tool for them not a gift for us. Sure public betas have their uses, you pointed a few out, but if they don't need to waste resources to make the game better then they shouldn't.

November will soon be here. In the meantime we have the fantastic efforts of the Spotlight team to keep us occupied and there are always contests going on to get our creative minds into overdrive. The best advice I could give is simply forget about the beta and time will move much quicker.		2014-08-27 00:01:00

In regards to luck, maybe someone on your friends list in the beta will happily show you the new tools and tricks when the game comes out.

If not; I expect to see a raft of tutorials and tips pop up as soon as beta folk are allowed to post. I remember reading a similar list when LBP2 was about to come out and having my mind completely blown.

Also debates about public beta... My thoughts are... Well; it won't be a laser focus on squashing bugs. It would be more for server load and publishing issues (as mentioned, not really a huge priority as the servers are tried an tested by now).

Public beta can only really see if something super random can happen... Which is likely to be discovered later down the line anyways (overlord, spawn issues). So while it'd be cool I'm not holding my breath.		2014-08-28 08:48:00

I'm glad you have somthing to do to wait but, I don't have much to look foward to. The only thing that can make me wait, is collecting things in a game and I'm not going back to LittlebigplanetBigPlanet 2 or LittleBigPlanet 1(I already collected everything before losing it all and all the other games I like too and Knack). I can either get picked and report bugs (which is very unlikey from hoping for a month) or just sleep (and have another nightmare) to wait the full game off (that or get a 3DS and play Mario games).		2014-08-31 00:50:00

I wonder if Sony will use the levels from the LBP3 beta to advertise/showcase the game in the future. I sure hope so because I know in LBP2 if you wait without doing anything in the pod a video starts playing that shows beta levels and also some story levels. At the moment the media are trying there hardest to find negatives about the PS4 (as witnessed with Driveclub and The Order) so DO NOT let LBP3 get dragged into this. I've never been a fan of surprises. If the game is as good as everyone's saying, then they should have nothing to hide. I'm not looking to see the game in its entirety; I just wish I could see the level editor not being played by a goofball.

It's not about 'hiding'. It's about making sure it's ready. I'm sure you've played friends levels that were either locked or not even published. They're not 'hiding' it's just that the level isn't ready. Showing the entire world an unfinished product can give people the wrong impression.

I've seen people post stuff on leaked unfinished Movie footage saying 'the CGI look so bad... This movie is gonna suck' That's not the initial impression you want out in the public.

It's simple. The game comes out in November. It's not finished, if you were to drop by some one in create mode it's at a point where changes can still be made which means things aren't glued down, this bit over here still doesn't work yet, oh and this section is still made out of cardboard (ie the code is not optimised, it's not stable, some things don't even work, there is some place holder images... etc).

All the type of things that shouldn't be in reviews. You don't want people making up their minds based on incorrect assumptions.

Rushing the release because people want it sooner never works out.

Im sure Sumo are going to demo create in more detail when they are certain it works how they'd like. Up until the I have to say the official create demo already shown was pretty mind blowing!		2014-09-01 08:53:00

This. I get that you are excited and want to see the game, but Steven's role as a community manager involves building excitement about LBP3. The Beta IS private, and none of the participants should be leaking any information, but Steven is sort of above the NDA in that he is one of the people who actually controls what information is released, so those rules really don't apply to him 		2014-09-05 10:18:00

Well... aside from the leaks, multiple NDA reminders, and the "I want a Beta one!!1" requests, just little over 2 more months until LBP3 hits the shelves! We made it this far guys, and we are getting even closer! 2 months is not even a long wait, especially since some of us has classes and focusing on that can speed up the time. There is also a new round of PS Plus games and so much more happening, these 2 months will fly!

For those who saw leaks, I am sure the right people are reporting them and working hard to keep Sony and Sumo in the loop about them but personally as a LittleBigPlanet fan, I would highly suggest you guys avoid looking at them, and here is why!

If i knew there were leaks on YouTube, etc, I would not want to look at them. As much as I would really want to know much about the game and what is has to offer, it will ruin the most important element of all - the fun.

I like to be surprised, I want to have fresh new experience when we drop into our pods for the first time and see our friends join us soon after. Then we explore this new world together discovering new things and having a new fun experience all along. Not opening up a gift early then reclosing it so no one would know you saw it and then when you revisit you'll be less surprised because you knew some of these things were there. Is that what we really want?

Just hang in there guys, every beta in the world of games have these problems and its, well, the game industry life. We are always going to have people who choose to break rules, I wasn't surprised when I heard there was leaks because a part of me knew they were coming, of course I did not guess from where. Its all part of the beta experience overall, and it also gives us a good relationship with the report button.

I figured, the franchise is guaranteed to get my money anyway, I don't care if I see the footage, it needs reporting. And I'm more of a creator than a player so my enjoyment comes from create mode. I'm already planning my levels so leaked footage gives me a better idea, as much as I like the suprise, I'm still impatient. I don't think I'm explaining myself properly but basically:

I find beta footage to report it, anything else is a side-effect of that. I think I even found some that hadn't even been reported yet so I'm definitely getting good at this.

While I do agree for most games this is definitely the case. However, LBP is a game like no other. The element of fun for LBP is being creative, not being surprised for some extra tools. I've seen the footage and all it did was hype me up for the game (which is why I believe most people are wanting to see the footage.)

That's true (and I understand why you posted it) but at this moment in time, it is the only way. Patience is a virtue though, I guess.

Enough of that, the real reason I came here is because I just realized what "endless runner" meant! It means, when you go off one side of the level, it loops back to the other side! This would be very useful for my current project but I hope there are more options available to us.

The only thing that worries me by this revelation is that if this is what "level stitching" is limited to, I won't be able make my project how I imagined. I want to be able to have to different backgrounds next to each other as I'm going to have to use a blank background if not. I currently have "The Islands" theme but I want to add a sea, in which that background wouldn't work, I hope we can literally "stitch" levels side-by-side; It'd be even better if we could do that but still have it loop back!		2014-09-07 21:14:00

It is tough.. especially for those on the outside and all love the game so much. High expectations, questions, excitement and a dash of info here or there, but still have to wait. Everything so close, but seemingly locked away except for a few glimpses.

Just 2month left until LBP3 coming out so i might get game for PS3 or PS4 vision since i havent decide.

Anyways i think LBP Hub long gone because I think LBP Hub turn it into LBP3.

I don't know how others feel, but I always thought StevenI was either an robot that would comment on people's levels as they are famous or some kind of Santa Person (someone who's presence emit happiness) when I heard of him the first time. (I made up Santa People they aren't a species as far as I know)

I feel like this game is gonna have a special currency other than bubbles and I also think there should be a timer for how long the wait is gonna last for the game on the LittleBigPlanet website. Back to beta talk, I want there to be a funny sackboy head bobbing glitch that's talked about after game release so I can say "Haha! His head! Hahaha!" also happy for the invited people. If anyone can answer, why was the beta private? I'm pretty sure the NDA would let this be said without action. Also if this was answered by someone of the game's creation or someone very close to the game's creation I'm truly sorry for asking.

Aside from that, I just have that feeling that once the game is out, and after about 3 months of people playing there will be about 4 deadly glitches that were unseen in the game's beta since hidden in code that some people will find and infect sackpeople with. So I'm hoping there will be an option to reset the charactor in the menu, not a die reset, but a reload all the saved code from last game reset. From what I know, Sumo Digital had limited keys on the Playstation Network. It's not Sumo Digital's fault they had to only allow a small number in. Apparently, Sony wouldn't allow a ton of keys floating around.		2014-09-12 22:54:00

Most (real) betas are private, you normally want a (somewhat) controllable environment to help trace bugs. Things break a lot, and people may be required to delete installs and re-download new code, because significant changes are still being made.

Normally a public beta is a way to test server load, and gives the developers an excuse to say, 'hey... It's a beta' if things go wrong.

Ever since LittleBigPlanet Hub got swept under the rug I've been pretty bitter. I bought Playstation+ for the free copy of Jak & Daxter collection on the Vita, but it got taken down minutes before I could download it. There hasn't been a single worthwhile title on the PS Vita, and the PSN+ instant game collection has been just underwhelming. The entire year's been nothing but title after disappointing title. I expected E3 to be no different. I remember thinking to myself, "Hey, maybe we'll get LittleBigPlanet 3 this E3. Hah, yeah right. We're just going to get Playstation Allstars Battle Royale 2: Electric Boogaloo and a bunch of prerendered movies." I was so happy to see LBP3 was announced that I jumped for joy. I had LBPCentral on a second tab because I was voracious for new content. When the beta was released I did a victory lap. I thought that since I participated in LBPKarting beta I would be a shoo-in to get into LBP3 beta. I made attempts to report bugs in Karting, but I was constantly told to "calm down, it's still in beta" and so I did. Then when Karting was released, it had bugs that were in the beta, and all those guys who told me to relax were silent. So having felt shafted by having my bug reports ignored, not receiving a LBP3 beta key was rubbing salt on the wound. But I came to accept it. So here I am hoping LBP3 won't be dead on arrival like Karting was. I've been waiting for LBP3 since LBP2, so two more months won't kill me. And I have a huge backlog of games that I can hack away at while I wait.		2014-09-14 20:26:00
