Considering the fact that most players crawl inside bushes all the time, that oughta be an interesting experience!

I like that word... Perma-Prone... Ooo! I'm going to yell it out everytime I die! 'Going perma-prone'. Then everybody would be like... Wtf?

Also, I wonder if anybody will take the challenge of winning a match without any kills. Like an entire team goes in, gets no kills, and still wins. Like these guys on CoD. It would be much harder. But still.

Well, it's all new to me!

Same for me! With the exception of Wake Island which looks super special awesome in BF3 according to the concept art they have. It's my favourite BF1943 map. (In an earlier post I may have said I had 1942 by accident. Excuse my mistake)

For anyone who hasn't seen the concept art, it's in this spoiler right here. I figure it's probably old, so most people will have seen it already, but meh. Huge picture by the way.

http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/05/Battlefield-3-wake-island-concept-art.jpg

Also, is there gonna be some kind of LBPC clan/platoon/whatever they're called? (I missed the whole beta because my old PS3 was busy being dead, but I got a new one in time to play one night of it)

Yes, we had (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=43736-Battlefield-3&p=934914&viewfull=1#post934914) a Platoon (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=43736-Battlefield-3&p=934998&viewfull=1#post934998) during the beta and I plan on creating another one once retail hits. Problem is that Battlelog is closed down until the retail version hits stores. Unless someone else wants to run a new platoon, it doesn't matter either way. And you can belong to up to three Platoons at once, but only choose one as active.

Yea. You can count me into that platoon, too. I was in it for the BETA but they didn't have any use for it on consoles. :/ What they should do is have it like an in-game friends list. Or at least be able to send invites over the battlelog to people on the same console as you. This way you can play with your platoon but not have to worry about making space on your friends list.

Edit:

Just found this video. Not sure if it's new or not. But I haven't seen it before. Sorry if it's already up here... D:

o.o That's a good question... Well, they've had it on GTA for years... So it must not be that much coding... But I don't know...

Don't quote me, but you should be able to. With realistic destruction of entire buildings, it would almost seem lazy to not have blowing tires.

Oh wow, I just realized that the Back to Karkand pack is actually four maps :O I thought it was just Karkand. So that's like, 13 maps on for launch. And those maps have different areas for different gamemodes, so... wow. That's a lot of mappage.

Also, in the new multiplayer trailer, you can see what look like huge hovercraft things that are carrying jeeps. I really hope they aren't static, because, boating in on those things with a huge group of players sitting in land vehicles, ready to hop off when they get to shore, would be absolutely amazing.

You mean a drop ship? If they included some drop ships like the ones Warhawk had, then that would be awesome!

I haven't played Warhawk so I can't say, but I'm pretty sure they aren't 'drop' ships, because they are boats.

Day 1 dillema... single player campaign, co-op, or multiplayer?

I'm taking the day off work, but once the little one comes home it's no more BF3 until the next night. But i'll have about 6-7 hours of full-volume gameplay all by myself at home until I have to pick my little munchkin up from day care. Do I start and finish the campaign first? Try unlocking the exclusive weapons for MP in co-op with someone online? Or just start taking down MCOMs?

I second it!

EDIT: My friend got this game early. I was at his house last night playing the campaign and thought it was pretty fun, we also played a bit of the co-op and that was cool too. I wanted to try MP but he didn't want to appear online. I'm going to go tonight as well to play MP as I think it'll be okay to play MP a few hours before release.

I'm definitely going to be playing campaign first. I'm undecided on what to do after, however, as having more weapons in multiplayer from co-op could be helpful. But yeah, I'd definitely recommend playing at least some of the campaign before multiplayer as you'll more than likely gain some experience with the vehicles.2011-10-23 20:43:00

Well, actually have to share the TV with the other lovely lady in my life. Not only does that mean I will probably be exposed to multiple episodes of Real Housewives of New Jersey, 9021blow, and Jersey Shore, but I won't be playing BF3 until she hits the hay. Tuesday night is my computer night.

Campaign was where I was leaning initially, as it has been two weeks since I have played the beta and it actually looks pretty fun. But other than a few trophies, there's little real incentive for me to play it other than to get it out of the way. I'm really looking forward to co-op and multiplayer more than anything, but I suppose I can do a mix of all three throughout Tuesday. Probably will hit up campaign from about 10:30 to 1 PM (assuming I'm in and out of Best Buy by 10:15), then multiplayer from 1-4. When I reclaim the TV later that night, I'll look for friends online or just roll the dice on a co-op partner or tackle some more MP.

I get to pick up my pre-order either midnight tonight or at 5:00 PM tomorrow, due to me only being 16 and not allowed to buy rated M games without a parent. (3 months 'til I can!)

The guy at EB Games said that we'd be able to come at midnight to pick it up, but it's in the mall, and I somehow doubt they'd open the whole mall just to release Battlefield 3. If it's not open at midnight, I'll have to wait for my dad to come home from work at 5:00.

I think since I'm gonna have to share the game with my brother, he's gonna make us play multiplayer first. And take turns.

If anyone wants to add me to play, go ahead. I won't be able to play it by myself for a while, but meh. I might get a bit of time in. I'll be using my Prattz PSN account.

By the way, does anyone know when we get the Back to Karkand pack? I know they said a month after release, but then PS3 gets it a week early, and I wanna know if PS3 gets it in 3 weeks or 4...

My PC fanatic friend preordered his copy just today, in time to get the 50% discount (which makes the game cost as much as it does in the USA ) Anyway, he's also getting a "Battlefield 3" T-shirt that I must see.

By the way, he's selling his awesome computer to buy an even more awesome computer that can run BF3 on ultra. And I'm trying to convince my father to buy it from him because my actual computer is steam-powered.

I'm going with my dad, brother, and his friend's mom to go pick up 2 copies in just 4 hours. (One for us, one for his friend)

We won't be able to stay up and play tonight though, because of school and stuff... Gonna wake up early to play.

I'd better not have to fiddle around with account details and stuff to be able to play online. Having to have an EA account is lame. I dunno if my EA account has my real age or not.

So, some first impressions.

It's fun.

Oh, and long loading screens.

Multiplayer is pretty fun and battles can get pretty hectic and epic. (Though, this isn't always great as it can get really disorienting.)

Something that I also found interesting was the launch of the Battlefield merchandise store, which is full of expensive, yet awesome, shirts and stuff. They even have a cool wristband that is for charity. I'm hoping to grab that, and a shirt with the Assault class logo on it. (Heart + defibs ftw!)

I got the last Limited Edition that they had at EB Games last night. Waited in line for an hour and a half.

Now uhh... Could someone please tell me how the online pass works? Does it work for all accounts on one system? If so, how? Do I have to like, use the same EA account for all of them or something?

Can someone please test this for me? I share my copy of the game with my brother, and we were gonna have an account each, as well as one we share, (So we can take turns playing) but I don't know whether to activate it on our Prattz PSN or not, or whose EA account to use...

EDIT: I got it done with. It works.

It's kinda complicated to get Battlelog and stuff working properly if you're new to EA accounts and stuff. I ended up wasting 2 account names before having to settle on "KlawwTehClown" instead, since I couldn't use the others I made. >_>

I wasn't able to log in until I had the disc in the system and logged in. It recognized my player data from the beta, which was nice, and I seem to have lost my friends (I think), so everyone will have to add me again (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/schm0/).

Also, I hate the AK74M. I can't aim down the iron sights to save my life. And I'm kinda not good. I will be much more accurate once I get a red dot sight for either gun, I'm sure. Also, my K/D is like 1:2. And my win-loss percentage is also not good. And suprisingly, for all the people that bought this game on day 1, nobody uses their mic.

Also, I hate tanks. With a passion. Although I have had the opportunity to destroy a couple so far, which is absolutely exhilarating. And I am very good at driving helis and jets into the ground.

Anyways, go to my profile and add me already (link above.) And sign up for the platoon (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655240983416324/).

Tanks are easy to get rid of. In fact, you die easily when you're in a tank because of the suicide bombers on the other team. BF: 1943 had the same thing, only it was kamakazis, and the crashes looked hilarious!

Do you still get more points for a squad revive than a kill?
This is how I'd always finish in the top 3 in the previous games despite killing hardly anyone... playing as the squad medic.

Sure, they're easy to kill unless you're on a map like Grand Bazaar or Tehran Highway, where the streets and buildings are so close there's hardly any maneuvering or hiding before you're mowed down, run over or blown up. I just hate them on those maps because it's very difficult to avoid being caught in its crossfire unless you can head down an alley or get behind something BIG, like a hill. On bigger maps, such as Operation Firestorm or Kharg Peninsula it's a bit easier to find cover or keep your distance. It's especially worse when you're defending and they park it right in front of the MCOM and start squad-spawning from behind the sucker.

TL;DR: I was not prepared for the vehicles in this game.

Edit: also, the SPECACT pre-order bonus was mysteriously missing from my purchase. I am currently waiting for a representative to give me the PSN code. Even MORE mysterious is the fact that this pre-order bonus is NO LONGER MENTIONED on the BF3 website.

Edit2: Apparently it's a known issue (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Gadgets/Battlefield-3-Spec-Act-Kit/td-p/351522/).

In addition: PS3 voice chat is pretty much non-functional, according to forum reports. Now I did hear some chatter and it showed my mic as being on, but there was pretty much nobody talking for the duration I played.

EDIT: Maybe not. When I attempt to log in, it says "Your account is not allowed to log in."... the hell?

Can't sign in to BattleLog until you activate your online pass... I'm so glad I actually looked through those papers in the front cover... ._. I was about to run back to GameStop for another 20$ PSN...

Well, the platoon is back, and so is the emblem... let me know what you guys think.

Is there any story behind the heraldry?

Is there a motto?
If not there should be.

I suggest "Ludo Lorem Ipsum" - Latin for "Play Create Share"

Well, the heraldry is simple: the cog/wheel represents the cold, steely nature of our metaphysical philosophy, a juxtaposition of Nihilism and Post-Modern Modalism. The skull represents death, but more so the skeletal structure of the corps de espirit that makes up our platoon. The star is actually representative of the star Sadalsuud, also known as Beta Aquarii (http://stars.astro.illinois.edu/sow/sadalsuud.html). It is the home solar system of the Aquarii race, with whom I have been communicating via telepathy for quite some time. And the bullets are, well... just bullets. But it's got a shield with WINGS! How awesome is that!?

In reality, I made it in about 15 minutes of doinking around in Battlelog and used the beta platoon logo as a template and added a few more icons. If you have any suggestions, such as more fire or dinosaurs, or anything else, let me know. You can also fool around in Battlelog and create your own platoon and figure out an alternative logo. I'm open to new/better ideas.

Motto sounds good.

No, that explination was so brilliant - we have to keep it now!

I think the proper latin (not that I would know) would be;
Adludio Lorem Ipsum .... It sounds latiny enough for a heraldic motto

Well, the heraldry is simple: the cog/wheel represents Kog. Obviously. And who cares about the rest.

So me and ryan beat the co-op missions. They were really fun, yet short. But oh boy, have fun getting a helicopter mission thrown at you almost instantly, with no option to choose who flies and who doesn't.

Also co-op is a really quick way to get good weapons. AKA THE REX AW YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I think we played 3 or 4 missions, and got the REX, and once we had finished the sixth mission, we had almost unlocked the next thing. So, I'd say fairly quickly.

@Macnme I didn't really see any randomness, aside from some enemy spawns on the helicopter mission. On the other missions, it seemed pretty much the same each time we played them.

Also, I am getting my butt handed to me every round. It's a bit infuriating but it makes me want to be better. By the end of the beta I was on the positive side of K/D and winning more rounds than losing. It would help if chat were working properly so we could coordinate better. I've also been primarily playing rush. I'm looking to mix things up a bit... what game mode should I try next?

Also, I've been equipping the underslung grenade launcher, which with the underslung attachment is supposed to let me switch to the launcher without using the gadget, but I have no idea how to access it without hitting the gadget button. Am I doing it wrong?

It's a pretty interesting subject. I've been meaning to read this book (http://www.archive.org/stream/completeguidetoh00foxduoft#page/n11/mode/2up) on heraldry for ages.

There's a strict order and use of colours involved. All I know at the moment is the emblem in the top left quarter of a shield is considered dominant and I think "LBPC" is in the place the motto would be in the pic.

Compare the English and Scottish variants of the UK coat of arms for some lols.

Not too bothered since I already have 1943 and I forgot about this but it's alarming nonetheless:

You have to hand it to Electronic Arts on Battlefield 3's launch: when EA borks something up, they really go for the gusto. As if botched Betas, shadily dealt-out review code, broken Xbox 360 servers on launch day, and hilariously bonkers nonsense like this weren't enough, now we can go ahead and add randomly missing console-exclusive bonuses to the endlessly burning tire fire of rage that EA refuses to stop pouring gasoline on.

You may remember waaaaayyyyyy back in June at a little industry get-together called E3, that EA, by way of Sony's Jack Tretton, announced that all PlayStation 3 copies of Battlefield 3 would come with an extra-special bonus game packed onto the Blu-ray disc in the form of Battlefield 1943. Up until the game's launch yesterday, no one had any reason to believe that Battlefield 1943 wouldn't be appearing as a bonus in the PS3 version. Then yesterday happened, and suddenly it was not there.

Responding to this understandable query by the confused masses, EA's poor, unfortunate community manager in charge of Battlefield 3 was forced to take to Twitter and announce that...no, I can't re-type it. It's too painful.

In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers.
Right.

So, just to recap, instead of a free game that had been previously promised to be included on the disc, PlayStation 3 owners will be granted the first opportunity to buy more Battlefield 3. Is anyone else feeling a little like Will Ferrell at the end of Zoolander right now?

The issue is less that EA had to go back on including Battlefield 1943 as part of the package--dumb things happen during development, and it's understood that sometimes things don't work out as you expect--but the fact that nobody notified consumers of this fact prior to the game's launch is straight-up horrendous. At any time, any time, during the PR cycle for Battlefield 3, someone at EA could have piped up and said, "Oh, that was just craaaaaaazy uncle Jack at Sony getting loose of his bed straps again and talking crazy talk! We don't have Battlefield 1943 on this disc!" Instead, they let people continue to believe that a console-exclusive bonus existed when, in fact, it did not.

If you can't see something deeply, deeply wrong with that, I think you may be beyond help.

http://www.giantbomb.com/news/today-in-battlefield-3-screw-ups-battlefield-1943-not-included-with-ps3-copies-as-promised/3770/

Had about an hour and tried the campaign, good so far but nothing special. After experiencing the 60 fps and mega textures of RAGE the visuals are...lacking (except the lighting and particle effects which are quite impressive). Sound however is just as fantastic as I remember it in BC2, it can only be described as vicious and unrelenting. Real test will be once I dive in MP this weekend.

:hero:

Well, you can't do it from your console, you have to have access to Battlelog (i.e. purchased a copy of BF3 and entered the online pass code into PSN) to join.

Edit: Also, I seem to be ten times more horrible at this game than what I recall from the beta. I'm fairly confident that it is the quality of players that I am up against, and not my own skill, that's causing me to die and lose games. Well, that and the complete absence of voice chat or squad management on the PS3.

So my accuracy is way down, too... so I decide to myself, I'm gonna be all creepy and attach my acog and make my shots selective, single-fire like. Nope. Still get blasted in the face.

By the way, Engineers are WAAAAY OP in this game.

So to make me laugh away my misery, I watch this:

So I was going through the Battlelog forums when I found this...

why are the vehicle controls ****ed? in bbc2 i was a bada** shot with the sniper rifles now i cant hit anything.you ****ing ******** ruined a perfect franchise.fix the controls add button mapping and bbc2 control options, fix hit detection, stop the guns from jumping all over the place, remove the stupid ****ing "hold breath "******** and swaying scope, snipers should fire like previous games (leading, gravity at distance )add more jets in more levels, there needs to be at least two jets per team, just give the weapons the same great feel they used to have.the levels are well constructed i will say.i have never been terribly upset by bf before but now im ****** and if you read this please forward it repeat it do what ever you can to make sure those buttplugs who changed the game can read and fix this.it feels like they tried really hard to be mw3 when they should have stayed true to themselves.

So, being me... I had to respond! Gotta fix how them noobs think!

Addressing your points one by one. (Hopefully in order)

The vehicle controls are not '****ed'. They are actually the exact same as BC2. They're just harder. They take more skill. I personally like it this way because it's challenge is appealing to me. Me and a buddy sat in that Co-op mission for a while trying to figure out how to fly. Still don't know how. Well, I do to an extent. Lets just say my 'mad skills' from BC2 aren't there.

Bullet drop = Fixed. There wasn't enough drop in BC2. The bullet went too fast in BC2. Now a cross map shot takes about 3 seconds. Not 1.5-2 seconds at the same distance.

Button mapping was not a feature on BC2. And the control scheme is exactly the same. The only difference I have noticed is that you can now go prone.

Hit detection needs only a slight improvement. The issue you're having is probably that you're leading according to BC2 physics. All you need to do is spend 30 minutes (A single Rush match. Usually) and learn the time it takes your bullet to go a certain distance. Then, after a while, you can judge that automatically. There you go. Now your hit detection has been fixed.

Guns jumping all over the place? You mean recoil? High power gun = lots of recoil. Low power gun = lower amounts of recoil. Simple physics.

In real life, you have to hold your breath to stop the scope sway. This is a realistic simulator. Therefore, holding breath is a given.

I agree that there does need to be more jets in each level. But just remember, 4 jets per team means 2 extra people off the ground going for objectives. Then you have the helicopters. There another few people. By the time all your air is filled with an extra 2 jets per team, you have maybe 6 guys on the ground. Now imagine playing Caspian Border like that. Even then, most are going to be in tanks. Or spawn camping the jets. Meaning even less people in the actual map.

Another thing I agree on is that the maps are well constructed. I like them much better than the BC2 maps. At first I was disappointed that they were reusing building models once again. But now with Frosbite 2, each one feels completely different.

As for the final few sentences, those 'butplugs who changed the game' are the same 'butplugs' who made BC2.

Did I get any info wrong there? Did I hit the nail on the head?

By the way, the only good thing he had going for him in way of grammar was that he used the words 'previous' and 'franchise' correctly. I was for one surprised...

Alright, the campaign is really starting to grow on me and I (mostly) take back what I said about the visuals lacking. 'Thunder Run' looks just as photorealistic as the vids had us believe. Nighttime levels really show off the spectacular lighting effects, no other shooter comes close. I found the jet level exhilarating and the Paris level had a 'Heat' vibe in one particular section which is always a good thing. Guns all feel great and I can't help but keep praising the ferocious sound which is a major factor in my overall enjoyment. Pro-tip: use headphones, thank me later. 5.1 Audio setup is the way to go!!!
Every game, especially FPS and TPS in 5.1 are on another level of enjoyment.
Only played Rage and Batman so far with 5.1 (and LBP which doesn't support the feature, but it makes sequencers really more enjoyable)
Yesterday I played the Ratchet & Clank All4One demo and with the 5.1 it was gigantic!

Well, are any of you guys playing on PS3? If you are, come on down and sign up for our LBPC PS3 platoon (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655240983416324/).

So, I've been doing some thinking about how I've been dying and against whom. It's mostly engineers, and it's mostly in close-quarters. Why? Because the fire rate and damage of SMGs and PDWs in close range is much greater than my assault rifle, meaning if we shoot each other in the chest I will always die first. Here's a list of the things I'm thinking I can do to make it better: Always go cover-to-cover, even if I don't see an enemy nearby. Stop sprinting long enough to bring my weapon back up. Take advantage of the tactical light in close-quarters. Aim for the head when going up corridors. Fire in short bursts. Any other ideas?

As with most class based games, you need to try to stay at a place in which you class excels whenever possible. If you have an Assault Rifle, try to stay within its effective range, while not getting into combat at close quarters with Engineers. Equally, if you're an engineer you need to try to stay in areas where your gun is most effective - so close quarters. It's just about getting in the right places I guess...2011-10-27 13:31:00

Don't let me pilot a Heli again... Just don't.

Anyways, I have a horrid K/D ratio right now, but I've been worrying less about that, and more reviving/destroying vehicles/etc.

I've been doing decent-to-good my last few matches. Any tips for a newcomer to Battlefield?

...

Sweet, that's ok... did you hear me on voice chat? LOL

To be completely frank, I have crashed about a dozen times worse than that, so don't feel bad. I have had much more success switching my heli and jet controls to "Legacy". I wish I could remap yaw to L2 and R2, respectively, but unfortunately all the vehicle movement controls are locked into the analog sticks. But having pitch and roll on the right analog and yaw on the left is very helpful. I was able to successfully spawn and drop off my teammates, mostly because voice chat was actually working for the first time since I've purchased the game (and then only for about 15 minutes before I went on radio silence for the night.) I think I even got a kill in there.

What I need to focus on is having a squadmate man at least one side of the guns to allow strafing runs. Flying solo makes me focus on aiming at players too much, which ends up having me push my nose forward to the point of pushing my heli right into the ground.

Practice, practice, practice...

Anyways, I have a horrid K/D ratio right now, but I've been worrying less about that, and more reviving/destroying vehicles/etc.

Besides learning to fly a Heli ._.Yeah, I've given up caring about that stat. Although it has slowly been inching back up to 1.00, which is what I consider a good balance considering the objective-based play of this game.

@Sweet: I've been focusing on improving my accuracy, firing in short bursts, and really trying to playing my role (nearly always as Assault.) @Alex, your advice has helped out tremendously. Hanging back a bit has allowed me to pick off players from medium range and has worked wonders on my efficacy. The downside to this is it makes getting to a fallen squad-mate to revive a bit more difficult.

When playing as support, it's hard to know where you can safely sit down and provide suppressing fire without getting picked off. Once I unlock the Suppression bonus I'm going to try and level up my Support class some more. I also really want to get good at recon. Engineers seem to be lacking when we need them, and too many of them when we don't. Engineer is actually the most easy class I can think to play with. There's very little thinking involved, and their utility is hands-down the best in the game. And in tight quarters, they rule supreme. They repair and take out vehicles, which is crucial. And most of all, they make very good M-COM cappers.

Also: patch #2 is incoming (http://mp1st.com/2011/10/28/battlefield-3-patch-details-jets-pistols-and-ump-will-be-adjusted-and-more/), no ETA, but some crucial fixes are in the works.

I've unlocked everything for the jets. The best unlocks for me are

Heat seeking air-to-air missiles
Air to air missiles against enemy jets and helicopters.

Beam scanning
An upgraded missile radar which speeds up the time it takes to lock on enemy aircraft.

ECM radio jammer
A chaff launcher which makes it difficult for enemies to lock on your aircraft.

The laser guided missiles and the pod launcher are crap.*

Only use the the guided missiles if they don't want to fly against you.

Just spent about 3 hours (PS3 btw) playing assault with defibs and shotty and I have to say it: This game is *****ing brilliant. The maps are amazing, the vehicles are actually fun to use this time around and pretty much everything is improved ten-fold. I spent a full 10 minutes in the air with a heli as the gunner (and thankfully the pilot seemed to be a veteran) and about 1 minute in a jet (which ended pretty hilariously with me crashing into a sticking out bit of scaffolding) and it's just so frikking fun. I haven't tried out Rush yet due to having so much fun on Conquest but I already know I'll be playing for months if not years to come. 'Nuff said. 2011-10-29 00:51:00

I probably will... when I can find an Origin name which isn't taken. And so far I've tried 50+ variants...

EDIT: Turns out it glitched on me... I'm TheM3rkat if anyone wants to know.

So, the Dr. Pepper promotion was just updated to include Battlefield 3 stuff! I was gonna just give my 2 codes to my dad, but now my brother and I are probably gonna each get a dog tag. (Battlefield 3 is the ONLY game in which they offer codes for the PS3)

I was going to just give them to my dad to use for the Sims Social, but...

I'm not sure which tag I want to get... I kind of like "Opener" "Roar" and "Bye Kitty" but they're all cool.

The prizes are...

Question 1:

I'm too lazy to do the work to go look this up. So, you get the Dr. Pepper codes from buying cans and bottles of Dr. Pepper right? (The question is both or just one [bottles or cans])

Question 2:

Do you get a code for all in a pack? So say if I went out and bought a 6 pack, I would get 6 codes? Or no?

The codes aren't working... I try signing in with my EA account and it takes forever, then says:

"Signed in as Pretend there's nothing here"

And when I type the codes, it says there's an unexpected error.

My brother decided he wanted "Opener" and I was gonna get "Roar"

They're on 590mL and 1L bottles of Dr Pepper that are marked with the EA logo on the cap, and Battlefield 3/Need For Speed on the front. (At least in Canada they are)

Question 2:

Do you get a code for all in a pack? So say if I went out and bought a 6 pack, I would get 6 codes? Or no?
I don't think so, but I don't know.

Hey people, I'm getting a new laptop and I want to know from the PC experts how would this run Battlefield 3:

Model: Alienware M11x
Processor: Intel Core i7 Second Generation (1.5 GHz to 2.6 GHz with Max Turbo Frequency, 4MB cache)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (2048MB DDR3)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
RAM: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3, 1333MHz
Sound Card: Soundblaster X-FI Hi-def sound

Because I'm in doubt if I'm getting it for PS3 or laptop (or both).

Great, so the PC version finally updated for no reason at all - it just randomly worked this time. Great, I thought, now I can play on PC as well as 360. Battlelog shows me as being updated etc...

But oh no, because BF3 is going to fail to verify the release date.

Well done EA, well done.

Yeah, they're having all sorts of issues with Origin. Glad I'm on PS3, even though it's a bit laggy and there is NO voice chat.

I'm no expert, but everything looks good. Maybe not on Ultra Settings, but you'll probably be able to run it close to that with little to no problems.

Just played a good 4 hours with a friend, zero issues beyond problems with voice chat so we switched to skype. Played Rush, stayed in the same server the whole time, owned everyone with tanks, got tons of bomb plants, received the MVP 2 and 3 trophy now I just need to rank 1st overall for the last mvp related trophy. if your focusing on K/D ratio in this game then your doing it wrong 2011-10-29 17:15:00

I can't help but care a little bit about my K/D ratio. I honestly don't care what it is, but I like to keep it above 1.00. The only stats that I think matter are the score-per-minute, and things like that. I mostly play conquest mode, and I generally sneak into enemy areas, kill 'em all, and take it over. (By then a random squad mate usually spawns on me and we get it pretty quick)

Whenever there's a tank nearby, I just sit there and use that to defend my team and I while capping the area. I usually get a few easy kills, too.

I'm waiting until the squads are fixed before I add people and bring out my headset.

Last night, I started campaign. 5 minutes in, the game froze while saving and it corrupted the save file. Good thing I only lost 5 minutes of campaign and my loadouts... I'm definitely not playing campaign for a little bit. Maybe when patch 1.02 comes out.

I ended up getting both the "Roar" and "Opener" dog tags, since they're downloaded to the PS3, not saved to your account like I thought they would be. My brother and I each picked one, and now we both have both of them.

Well, all I want DICE to fix is voice chat, server lag, server browsing, squad management and have them ban the MAC addresses of all of the boosters. I ran into a booster about an hour ago and it wasn't even funny.

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/leaderboard/schm0/show/Mp_Main_ScorePerMinute/1/skill/soldier/1/0/

Pretty much anyone over 1000 ppm has been cheating, if I had to guess. There's no way one person can be that good to average more than that for so long. Especially this early in the game. There's people who have played a total of 6 hours with 1,000,000 points.

How do they boost? They must have some efficient strategy to get that many points.

Now, I totally love the defib, (As of right now I have 190 revives) but it really annoys me that aside from the revives showing on my stats page, the defib itself doesn't track anything. By this I mean that, I can't get service stars with it for reviving, and yet it can't kill people and so I can't get a service star with it that way either :/

Speaking of the defib, in one game on Metro, me and my team were attacking the third section, and we were moving up the leftside tunnel thing, very slowly, dying a ton, and oh boy did I get a lot of revives. Pretty sure I got 6 medical ribbons My goal at the moment is to get the medical medal.

Now there's a small possibility that the guy I played against (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/soldier/icer11590/stats/174774837/ps3/) just happens to have a 70" plasma and no job, as he was level 38 and has played for 40+ hours. That's practically a level every hour. his stats don't show anything that says he's a booster himself, but then I took a look at his platoon (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241005753104/stats/). (Well, he uses their tag, but he's not an official member.) Specifically, their stats (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241005753104/stats/). At least one of them is a booster.

So yea... I just posted this on the BL forums... I think I got everything right... It's just annoying to see all the people complaining about something put in on purpose...

I have seen many people complain about the aiming on the PS3. Most have come up with the answer that it is the FPS (Frames/Second) that is messing it up. This is untrue. The game is built as a simulator. Therefore, the aiming had to be slightly more realistic.

When you go to turn and it turns slowly at first, it's because it takes a second when turning in real life to get up to speed. When you stop turning and it takes a second for your person to stop, too, it's because you don't stop dead in real life.

I have also seen many people say that CoD is better because of the 'smooth turning'. Okay then. Stand up right now and try to do a reenactment of a full-sensitivity 360 from CoD. Now, how easy was that? Or, better question, was it even possible?

The aiming on here is perfect. The only thing that could be worked on is the gun wobble. But that is only there because of the Frostbite 2 engines momentum mechanic.

In conclusion, there's always going to be something about a game you don't like. What you need to do though, is stop complaining about those things and just enjoy the game.

Yeah, I know you're talking about their ACTUAL score-per-minute, not just with one class, but I thought this looked kinda funny.

I think it's pretty obvious when people are boosting or hacking, just look at their score, playtime, points, and even match logs. It's pretty sad actually. They should at LEAST have their scores reset.

Anyone wondering why my SPM is so high with the support class, I basically ran out of ammo, picked up an RPK class, killed somebody (and got 160-or-something points), and died within 8 seconds. It's just multiplying my score to see how many points I'd have at that rate.

...And yes, next time I get to go online I'll lower my SPM with that class so that someone else who deserves it can have it.

Yeah, these guys averages are much, much higher. Your actual SPM is around 300, which is better than mine by about 100.

It's not unfathomable for someone who has spent 10 hours a day in the game (x5 days now) to be pwning n00bs as much as they can, but I doubt they'd average 1000 per minute across all of it. I'm guessing there were a few boosting matches tossed in there for fun along with their normal ones.

So, apparently I've unlocked the M16A4, which is an upgraded version of the M1A6 that allows burst fire. And that is available on both sides.

The best part? All the unlocks for it transfer over!

I might switch over from the M416, I just might... but I might also wait for the F2000 to unlock, which has a deadly ROF.

Well, I'm getting better. The controls are very touchy. I'm mostly having problems lining up tank strafes, as I have mostly played Rush which doesn't allow for much air-to-air combat.

I do have one question: why haven't you joined our platoon (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655240983416324/)?

Also, I decided to play some Conquest last night and our team (after several server switches) was getting slaughtered. I managed to break close to even in two of my matches, but the other two I had more deaths than kills by a factor of two. I can't improve my stats to save my life.

Also, in unrelated news, make sure you've enabled port forwarding on your system's router! Use this page to configure your system (PC, PS3, or XBOX) to allow BF3 to communicate effectively and reduce lag!

Well, according to Battlelog, I'm improving at a nice rate...

Instead of -133 skill, now its -70! And my K/D is up from my old .42 to a .455!

Now lets make that positive...

Well, according to Battlelog, I'm improving at a nice rate...

Instead of -133 skill, now its -70! And my K/D is up from my old 4.2 to a 4.55!

Now lets make that positive...

A 4.66 K/D? Seriously? You're either a liar, a cheater, a K/D whore or an insanely amazing player...

'doh! I meant .42 to .455

NO, I'm not amazingly great, but I am half-decent now.

My K/D is 1.11 or something, same as it was on BFBC and BFBC2. I go positive but other than that I don't care, as long as we win...2011-10-31 01:46:00

So my K/D is 1.021. Sounds right, but I'm still amazed it isn't lower. I always rush the objectives and sacrifice myself for the team. Huh.2011-10-31 02:05:00

I just finished a match of Conquest (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/1748695/4/228892531/) going only for the objective... I got -12 skill level but first in the match... 18 kills, 10 deaths. All I did was make sure nobody took B at Grand Bazaar. Meaning rockets down the hall, grenades down the hall, bullets down the hall, and ordering squad members down the hall so I can figure out where to put stuff down the hall. I didn't go around once. I just made sure we kept B and let the rest of the team keep A.

To go off that booster thing... Have a look at this (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/397054/1/226988141/) match... ._.;

Well, deciding to see how playing with random strangers fares, I played some Rush on the map with the base jump (can't remember the name). All I can say is that I seriously hate the community. Period.

Only small percent of them know how to work as a team, so majority of the time I'm getting no help from anybody. My first round I was picking people off form the distance while giving med kits to everybody since we were defending. Multiple times my teammates, including my squad, would die and I would become the Forest Gump of the team; I rush into the firefights, revive them, and fight off the enemies at the same time. You'd think someone will do the same, BUT NO. I get shot by a solo Engi who then dies quickly, and even though teammates are running past my body because of the med kit I put near me, NO ONE revives me. This type of BS happened to me for majority of the other rounds I played.

Another thing that annoys me is how self centered people can be. On the same map, we were attacking, and a heli appeared. I got in and waited for enough players to get in and take seats in it. We actually did pretty well in it, minus getting shot out of the air. Fast forward a few minutes and someone else gets on the heli. I was racing the two guys to it, but since he got in first I automatically became a gunner. I said "Fine" and went with it. Instead of doing the "raining Hell" thing I thought we were going to do, he decided to fly over the hills, then jump out and parachute down, leaving me and another guy to crash into our deaths. As much as I wanted to rage quit, I played the round ignoring the incident. After a while, I got a tank and drove down the tunnels to see some other guy's car breaking down. So I, being an Engi at the moment (RPG'ing the tunnels works to your advantage), helped him out by fixing his vehicle. Now this is where he p***ed me off: the d**k got out and highjacked my tank. I swear to god I hate these people so much that I raged quit the round with no hesitation.

The only things keeping me away from getting rid of this game is a) the platoon, and b) actually playing with some decent people. I got to play two rounds with an awesome team; I would revive them and lay down med kits for them as usual and they'd do the same. In fact, there was one moment when we were holding off the other team near the base jump and someone died. I ran across the map to revive and picked off 2 enemies at the process. Later on in the round I got shot by a sniper, so automatically I thought I was dead-dead since I was too close to the firefights. NOPE. The same guy I saved hauled a** and revived me! That type of bro-act made my whole day! So yeah, the community REALLY needs some people like that instead of the solo a**holes I've been mostly playing with.

Today, as clay said, Clay, Ryan and I played a lot together, and oh boy did we rock as a squad. Really, when you play with friends and have communication, it's so much more fun.

Also, just got my medical medal And with it, came a (right) dogtag that shows the defibs on a heart, with the text "Tickler Tickler" and it also says how many revives I have So yeah, that was great.

Has anyone else had super epic parkour kick *** parachuting helicopter crashing tank busting infared zooming pistol whipping flag capping knife stabbing defib reviving killstreaks yet? Those ones where you go on a rampage through enemy territory and kill everyone and revive everyone and cap everything? Cuz those are awesome.

Also:
I had a big sad when Miller's throat was slit, WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THAT, HE HAD SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR.

Also on the case of K/Ds, i think a better indication of skill would be points per life, or points per game, because there's so many things to do for points.
But my K/D is 1.51 just in case anyone was wondering.

Ever since we got wind that Battlefield 3 wouldn?t be released on Steam, we?ve heard multiple rumours that folks were working behind the scenes to make it happen. This is another of those rumours, backed with a smidgeon of evidence.
The first piece of evidence is this competition, found on the Sapphire Select Club website. One of the prizes in this competition is ?[o]ne (1) PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam?.

Now this could simply be a mistake on the part of those running the competition. In fact, Sapphire are probably so used to writing competition Ts and Cs that reference Steam codes that they just assumed it would be the same with this comp.

But there?s also this. One user found that the PBSetup.exe file, which is used to install Punk Buster for Battlefield Installs, has been updated with the following install files?

Crogram Files (x86)Electronic ArtsBattlefield 3
Crogram Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonbattlefield 3
Crogram FilesSteamSteamAppscommonbattlefield 3
Crogram FilesElectronic ArtsBattlefield 3

Despite this accumulating evidence, it could be difficult since Battlefield 3 is built into the Origin and Battlelog system ? but ultimately the audience available on Steam is just too overwhelmingly large to ignore. We believe it?ll only be a matter of time before we see Battlefield 3 on Steam.

I doubt they'd just ditch their battlelog mechanic even if it goes on steam, so I can see the only thing steam changes is that you bought it off it, instead of origin.

Also, my dreams have been turned into an amazing little short movie;

If it comes on Steam and allows for updating through Steam, even though it will still use Battlelog, I will buy it again (if I can't transfer the code over) because I can actually download things off Steam...2011-10-31 23:59:00

Really? I didn't notice a change at all. The ports are right, the servers must have just been laggier when you were playing. I'm curious to know when/what map/region you were playing on.

So yea... I just got called a hacker... -_- Because of this (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/2129645/4/228892531/) game...

Shan-1985 accuses me of being able to stay out of bounds for more than 10 seconds, take uncountable amounts of bullets, and aimbotting.

I have never done any of those things. On any game.

My side of the story is this. My team was owning. We pushed them back into their spawn. I tried to talk my team into letting them out but they wouldn't listen. So I went along with it. I would run out of bounds, shoot off a rocket, and rush back into bounds. When I ran out of rockets I would have my friend/squad-mate, subsidedworm, throw me an ammo pack. I would replenish and go attack again.

I could pick them off so easily because they kept their TacLights and Lasers on. So I could easily see where they were. When he accused me of being able to take bullets, I have no clue what he's talking about. I was rarely shot. It's like they never saw me 50 feet in front of them or anything... They also wouldn't move if I got a hitmarker on them.

you aimbotting piece of ****

Not aimbot dude... Just don't stand next to walls when I'm shooting rockets... -_-" I was trying to get my team to let you out... But they wouldn't listen... So yea... Blame yourself. Not me. I could tell where you guys were because you kept blinding me with your TacLights and Lasers...

no aimbot bull **** you are a hacking piece of **** you can take 45 rounds form a type 88 and give me a quick burst an i died an you can stay out of bounds for longer than 10 secs and you were leading the spawn camp you cheats need to get some skill to play properly

I was not staying out of bounds for more than 10 seconds. I went out, then back in. And I kept doing that. I would resupply from my friend. I don't know what you mean when you say I could take rounds. I rarely got shot. And if you think I hack, go on the Battlelog and look through my recent games. It'll prove I don't.

typical respose for a hacking piece of **** an it show that you are a liar you said that you wern't spawn camping an than admitted that you were leading it so eat your words and stop hacking play the game properly

Never said I was leading the spawn camping. I said I TRIED to talk my team out of it. They wouldn't listen. And I want points. So I played PROPERLY against people who obviously don't know how to hide from rockets. Now get on Battlelog and see that I'm not a hacker. If I was a hacker, I would be max level, have over 100,000,000 experience, and be using better guns.
You need to learn how to spot a real hacker. If all you're going to do is *****, complain and write unreadable English, then I'm done with you.

So there. I was getting really annoyed by the end if you can't tell... xD

Yeah, no worries... I know you're not a bot. Or... are you?

I'm not sure if this is related, but I've been noticing more and more new people picking up the game recently, too. Looks like people were waiting to get paychecks or their parents to go to the store to pick it up. And miraculously I'm doing much better recently, sitting on the top half of the leaderboards at the end of each match and my K/D is slowly creeping back up to 1.00. I just want that and my W/L to get better.

Also, played recon quite a bit last night. Had some fun running around with pistols and trying (somewhat successfully) to cap as much as I could. Conquest is still #2 to Rush, though... for me, nothing beats the challenge of having to continuously beat back the other side on a single pair of objectives.

Had a fantastic session last night. Played RUSH for about 4 hours in the same server, played with random ppl but still managed to own, consistently ranked in the top 3 overall and was MVP twice which felt great. During my session I had two squad mates (at seperate times) who knew what they were doing and together we were able to dominate every game. Played about 12 games, won 10, ace squad about 9 times. When defending the opposition rarely got past the first point. Attacking meant me planting without delay and giving no room for them to breathe. Just goes to show that 2 ppl, even without communicating, can make a major impact if focused on the objective and playing smart. Had the best game on Seine Crossing. Defending, that armored vehicle rolls in next to A, we flank through the side tunnels, RPG surprise. Attacking, bridge checkpoint. I RPG TWO guys in the towers, one in each. A couple more come forward to attack and my AK-74U makes short work of them, love that gun!

Finished the campaign on HARD, enjoyed it. A few too many cheap deaths and overdone QTE'S but otherwise a great ride. Co-op is great fun. Finished the first two with a buddy on HARD, can't imagine doing these without communicating. Chopper mission was cake! Speaking of which, that vid is pretty epic

Ryan and I were going to a sniping spot on Operation Firestorm when we were attacked by a jeep. He was ran over but I dodged. I then dodged again and sniped the driver with a SVD I had no idea how to use. I then killed the confused gunner, picked up Ryan (who spawned on me earlier), and drove to the sniping spot in style.

It (the Origin content delivery system) scans to see what programs you are running so they can watch for cheating programs on PC. Doesn't apply to consoles. And if one thinks that EA really has the time to look at their secret video collection (ahem), I have several styles of tin foil hat available for sale. It's really no different than Steam, which also scans your computer for similar information.

If you just don't like it on principle alone, I suppose there's a point, but I'd blame the cheaters who make the game less fun to play, not EA. Just sayin'.

Also, I've complained about this before, but for cryin' out loud can I get some functioning voice chat up in here? Screaming into my bluetooth in hopes that my teammates may or may not be listening is getting rather frustrating, especially so when your entire team is failing to spot, use cover, communicate, coordinate or anything else remotely related to winning a round. *sigh*

I will say this: I did have two matches where one other teammate could communicate with me, but still... it was only one player and it was the first time in about 3 or 4 days I heard anyone other than in-between matches.

Can't wait until the incoming patch is announced.

Last I heard EA was coming under pressure in Germany due to Origin.

The strict terms also might put EA in violation of German law, which includes a provision that states no contract shall override the laws of the state in which a customer resides. If the data the company is collecting conflicts with federal privacy laws, the EULA would be rendered null and void until it had been revised to meet the proper legal standards.

While EA has refused to comment publicly on the matter, they might not have a choice for much longer. The State Commissioner for Data Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia has reportedly taken an interest in the case, as EA Germany's Cologne heaquartes are located within his jurisdiction. The Comissioner is expected to conduct a full inquiry on the matter, beginning with a subpoena for the information being collected about consumers, the purpose it serves, and who it is being distributed to. If EA's answers aren't satisfactory, they may be forced to change their practices, update the EULA, or potentially even face legal action from the state. -- gameranx (http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/3477/article/origin-s-invasive-eula-could-meet-legal-opposition-in-germany/)

A lot of people have been returning the game, and some retailers have had to put up notices about Origin in their stores.

To be fair, that is pretty much what everyone needs to realise. It's like the people who complain about DRM, and then pirate games because of the DRM - all they do is make the DRM even worse in future games, making more people pirate the games... It just keeps going...

It was relevant to the conversation... Would you delete any other relevant meme image, because it belongs in the meme thread?

Reaction/pony/"fffuuu" images (i.e. pretty much anything from 4chan) on their own have always been considered spam (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36936-Moderation-Policy-Overhaul). Your response should contain text and relevant content in addition to any images you may want to post. Furthermore, in this case, the image served to poke fun at another member. Lastly, we prefer that pony-related images stay in pony-related threads. By their very nature, BF3 and My Little Pony have very little in common.

What tends to happen when we allow image-responses like that is that they tend to derail a thread and devolve it into one-image replies, which turns an otherwise harmless thread into a spam-fest. Occasionally we try to pre-empt this from happening and get a thread back on track, like I did above.

It was nothing against you personally, just putting on my mod hat for a bit.

Now, that's not to say we can't post relevant images that are both on-topic and hilariously funny:

Reaction/pony/"fffuuu" images (i.e. pretty much anything from 4chan) on their own have always been considered spam (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36936-Moderation-Policy-Overhaul).Well, I've seen them all over the forums, and as far as I know they're still there.

Your response should contain text and relevant content in addition to any images you may want to post.I only commented on it because at first the post "...derp" was still there, which could obviously be classified as spam just as easily, if not more-so, than the image that was a response to it. I see now that said post has been removed.

Furthermore, in this case, the image served to poke fun at another member....I don't see how, but if anyone, it was making fun of myself.

I know what it's like to be a moderator (as I've moderated/administrated several message boards in the past), and I understand your decisions completely. Please don't take this post as some kind of argument or instigation. By no means am I trying to say you're doing a bad job. In fact, you're doing a superb job. As previously mentioned, the only reason I even brought it up was because the original "spam" message was still there, whereas my response was deleted.

But I digress, we should get this thread back on topic before it's derailed further.

I beat the campaign yesterday. The campaign was pretty epic, though it was extremely short, much to my disappointment. I beat it in a meager few hours. I was also disappointed how you don't actually pilot a jet or helicopter at any point during the campaign. So much for being able to practice! Looks like I'll have to suffer through hate messages telling me I'm a noob for crashing the vehicles as soon as I take off until I can learn to fly.

Some tips/observations for multiplayer:

- HIT. SELECT. TO. SPOT. ENEMIES. It seems like every game I am the only player doing this. WTF? Your helping your team AND your getting potentially getting points. I will sometimes manage to spot snipers by accident just by scanning the play area and hitting select.

- If you're squad leader use the attack/defend order. Again, this requires pointing at the objective and hitting select. You will get points when your squad mates are in the vicinity of the objective.

- pro pilots seem to have a lot of flares, I once wasted 5 stingers with zero result. Chopper pilots seem to have less. I have taken down a lot more choppers then jets, let pilots on your team take them out instead. If a noob takes the aircraft though then they will not have flares so fire away, I have taken down a couple of jets.

- fellow engineers, explosive specialization is your friend, it DOUBLES the amount of rockets you can carry. 10 RPG's, 6 stingers, 4 javelins. On that note, javelins are the least effective imo. Yes, you get the lock on but that takes time and you cannot use that jav against infantry (plus only 4 to play with). The damage doesn't appear too much more then the RPG either. Single RPG blast from behind will disable a tank.

- should be obvious but modify equipment/class based on map. Metro=Engineer with RPG's or Assault for lots of healing in choke points. Kharg Island is great for snipers or engineers equipped with ANY anti-vehicle gear.

Loving the game but does anyone think that overall the maps in Bad Company 2 were better? Just a thought, really looking forward to Karkand pack in December though, apparently it will have a lot more destruction

OMG YESSS. I hate how I'm always the only one who does this! It's so useful!

This too! It's free points for the whole squad, I hate when squad leaders don't do it! D:

I usually just change depending on the game mode, which team I'm on, and how I think I could help my team out. When I defend, I usually take the support class and use the Type-88 with a bipod, and kinda camp, except I move from spot to spot so that I can kill enemies before they reach an objective. For attacking I always use the assault class.

Well, I've seen them all over the forums, and as far as I know they're still there.

I'll let you in on a little secret. We tend to stay out of General Chat altogether. There's metric tons of spam there, and not nearly enough time to remove it. As long as it isn't getting to the point that I mentioned earlier, we're much more lenient there due to the simple limitations of part-time mods that volunteer. It just so happens that two mods peruse this thread quite often that it got caught by our modometers.

...the only reason I even brought it up was because the original "spam" message was still there, whereas my response was deleted.Yeah, I didn't check it the first time when I was deleting posts. :/

Looks like I'll have to suffer through hate messages telling me I'm a noob for crashing the vehicles as soon as I take off until I can learn to fly. :blush:Yeah, I'm in the same boat. For some reason I have yet to learn the rhythm to deploying flares. As soon as I launch them it seems another heat-seeker is headed my way.

SOFLAM FTW on big maps, although I have yet to unlock it. It'll decrease the time you need to lock to practically zero.

Spotting isnt used enough. Mostly because its the select button... Which is unfortunate because spotting is incredibly helpful, and can net you more points than the person who killed the guy you spotted if you suppress them after spotting, and maybe pump him with 2 bullets. Thats a solid 250 points!

On a side note, does anyone want to add me to the LBPC platoon if theyre is one still? I need to squad up with someone who doesnt hug on to an RPG like it's a brand new puppy >.>

I've yet to get computer rage with BF3.
I'm normally only a bit dissapointed if I don't finish with an MVP1/2/3 award... which doesn't happen that often.
Or if me & my mate are in a squad and we don't get the ace squad ribbon.

I think the reason I like BF3 so much is because, for once, I'm quite good at a game

Just got finished a whole night of conquest with oneof my friends who just got the game, and needless to say it was the greatest thing ever, with the both of us always getting MVP 1 and 2 and hopping in helicopters and tanks. Also really tried recon for the first time and i'm actually not too bad at it.

Also, what i've realized to be amazing gun setups for each class:

Assault - F2000 infared, bipod, heavy barrel
Engineer - SCAR-H RDS, Laser sight, grip
Support - M249 Holographic, extended mags
Recon - SKS 7x scope, flash hider, bipod

Finally got my internet running again and have been playing this game ever since. Its Amazing!

I have found many problems with knifing people in this one though. I didn't have any problems in the beta but i have experienced many issues where i press the close attack button when next to an enemy soldier and nothing happens. I then try holding the button and repeatedly pressing it but still nothing happens.
Also many times i have slashed at a victim and it does not do the small cinematic but instead just hurts them slightly which is very annoying.

The tanks are great fun and so are the jets. I haven't managed to kill anything with the jets yet but its still fun flying around trying to. I did parachute out of one thought and knifed a guy i landed on before i hit the ground that was cool.

Yeah, I only knife people who are prone now... it's too risky if they're not.
They should have made it that you just hold in the knife button and run up to them - instead of randomly slashing thin air

So last night I hooked up with a squad of 3 Russian guys I used to play a lot of Bad Company 2 with. I don't speak Russian but it doesn't matter, we all intuitively know what to do. WE. OWNED. I must have played for about 5 hours straight, won every single game (except the last one where I had possibly my worst game ever lol), ACE squad every single time. Saw the return of the indestructible tank a couple of times, once with me piloting, once with me on gunner, made the tank last the entire round. These guys are pros, one match one guy finished with 53 kills and 3 deaths. I don't place much value on KDR in this game but ****, that's impressive!

Although I still roll with engineer most of the time I have come to appreciate the merits of the medic on certain maps, being able to revive players near an objective can win a match. While this was true in BC2 I find less people playing as medic in BF3 so maybe that's why it's more apparent. I also enjoyed wreaking havoc as recon equipped with shotgun in Metro. The spawn beacon + motion sensor + shotty in those tight corridors is a deadly combination. Unlocked my first "special" dog tag for getting the RUSH medal, these things look really cool and I love that they track your stats on the tag itself, nice touch and a welcome addition to the series.

I continue to be frustrated by people not spotting, is it really that hard? Playing with a group of strangers can be the most maddening experience in the history of the FPS genre, more so then any other competitive shooter. Some of the moronic things I have seen make me want to teleport to wherever these guys are IRL and slap the s*** out of them

Yes, you have to sneak up on them from behind or while they are lying prone.

I hear that. I was gunner in some guys tank... he was driving RIGHT by the objective and then stopped. All he needed to do was move about 2 yards forward and we would have started to capture it... instead he just sat their like a useless t**t spinning his turret around.
It's like they don't know what the reason they are playing - they just want to drive a tank

Wait, how is that even possible to knife someone before you hit the ground?

It didn't take the guys dog tag when i knifed him on the way down just killed him outright. Very pleasing.

And i did last night manage to kill two people with the knife from the front. I thought it was possible as i remember doing it in the Beta looks like you just have to be faster than they can pull the trigger i think once they start to shoot you are then unable to knife them with a cinematic.

I met my match last night as well i had just played a match where i was third on the leader board and knifed 12 people in the match i only got dog tags from eleven though. But next match some guy named StevenSeagal25 or something like that had 2 silver stars in the combat knife to my 1 star and was like a ******* ninja. He kept appearing out of nowhere and getting my tags. At one point he even jumped through an explosion and knifed me in the chest then dived across to my teammate and knifed him then disappeared like the wind.
I did gt him a coupe times as well but hes got my tags two times more. Now i have a Nemesis

Well i've now got 135 kill with the knife which is nowhere near the 800 i have in BF bad Company 2 but i'm getting there.

I have to laugh at the few CoD players I've come across. Some have gone straight to Prone when we see eachother. On CoD this tactic [annoyingly] works, but since it takes your ability away to shoot while getting in/out of prone it's useless and give me an instant kill. Have to laugh 2011-11-06 01:46:00

Well, this game has taken my online rage to new levels. I am starting to turn into a whining, raging ball of frustration when I play lately. The skill level of the average player is much higher than COD, with the exception being the mix of brand-new players who don't PTFO... In short, it's very easy to get frustrated with this game.

I am doing some serious self-reflecting. I also find myself being very OCD regarding my stats, which I don't feel represent my actual skill (when in fact they are literally that.) This, in turn, makes me more concerned about getting kills than PTFO myself, which ends up feeding the vicious cycle of frustration. *sigh*

The good news is, I am going to try to make a conscious effort to see where I can improve:

1) I am far too likely to be separated from my squad. This is partially due to the fact that nobody uses a mic/VOIP doesn't even work. I need to stay with my squad and provide backup and firepower when needed.

2) I need to stop being so scared and take off my **** suppressor. I have 377 kill assists, which means about half of those were head-to-head shootouts that I should have won. I can't tell you how many times I've had a shootout and died, with the other guy victorious at 4% health. I think I might be switching back to heavy barrel on my assault rifle and just letting my gun climb a bit more vertically in hopes of a headshot. You can see me on the minimap? Good. Come get some.

3) Stop worrying about stats and PTFO! Nuff said.

I think if I can do these things, I'll be a bit better off. Last two nights I've snapped at my gf while I was frustrated at the game. (It doesn't help that she's nagging me with my headset on, and one time she asked if I had farted! I mean, come on...)

Anyways, what are you guys finding that you could improve?

I hate it when Squad Leaders don't set objectives.
You and your squad can score significantly more points if the squad leader sets objectives... and it's as easy as looking toward the objective & pressing "select".
...but this is apparently too hard for most squad leaders to grasp

I only use the suppressors when i'm hunting as i lose so many shootouts with them equipped. I do like the heavy barrels and up closse i do get more headshots with them myself for the same reason.

I get annoyed when i sneak into an enemy base kill a few people and set off an M-COM just to be blown up by my own team then the enemy reset the M-COM. This has happened to me four times now already.

You want people to get frustrated like you were.

The only thing you need is situational awareness and to be able to predict what people are going to do and bait them. You don't need a strong weapon necessarily, the biggest weapon you have is the terrain so you see people before they can see you. Also, you need to know when to run away.

Ideally you'll annoy them enough to try and get revenge over and over. If someone is smart they'll break the cycle first but I've literally had squads throwing themselves against me and those are the matches I get a K/D ratio of 25 or something else stupid on. It's only when the other side is coordinated that you should die.

The killcam is useful for misdirecting people on what you're going to do next.

The battle is in the MIND, man.

So the argument between me and the platoon, 'OZ ROX UR SOX !!!', has begun again. By a guy by the name of cawley28.

Here is his message to me.

hey speedynutty69 WILL U JUST **** OFF AND DIE U SCABBY LITTLE PR**K AND UNFAN UR SELF FROM HERE...before i bored a plane and come over there and kick ur ****** teeth in....

or and sorry ive reported u to battlefield for cheating ...have a nice day mate..

And my reply. Notice how civil I'm being. And how aggressive they are...

Sorry... I have to reply to cawley... First off, I already un-fanned your platoon. The only reason I saw this is because my friend told me that somebody finally replied. Second, I have reported you, cawley, for language, threats, and offensive behavior. Nothing will happen to me. There will probably be something that happens to you though. Talking like that can get your online pass banned, restricted, or suspended. 'Have a nice day mate.'

It's pretty annoying... Here's (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655391322026464/True/) a link to their platoon page so you can see the entire thing...

Why do people keep accusing you of cheating anyways?

I don't know! It's just this one clan that keeps saying it! >:O And cawley wasn't even in said match...

Well... After this last match, I think my accuracy may seem a little too high... (I didn't get top accuracy) I was hitting shots that I wasn't planning on... Random fail 'quickscope' across Tehran Highway and I get a 200 meter headshot... Close range with no optics and I go and get 4 guys all shooting at me... Jump off the overhang thingy and get a triple collateral... It had to be my best sniper match ever.

But I wasn't hacking. Most of it was either luck, skittlez, or a little of both...

Because they suck and they're trying to justify why they fail so hard.

Its also makes the game a crapload more fun if you stick with your squad and encourage your Squad mates to put on their Mics. Ive done this in quite a few matches and Ive yet to run into some immature 17 year old looking for a younger kid to pick on. If you cant fly a helicopter, Jump in it anyway, Fly straight up in the air and wait for your squadmate who Can fly to jump in with you. Then just switch seats with him and youve got yourself a chopper team! I used to do this when I didnt have flares for incoming missiles as an upgrade.

Well, that does stink, but then people would mistake you for a Battlefield developer.

They could add 'STOLEN!' or 'TAKEN!' to it somewhere when you take it from them. Then people can see how BA you are...

Whoa! He's stabbed a developer! I want to be like him when I grow up! He's my hero!

Finally, after several weeks of vying for supremacy, I got my first MVP. Of course, it came in a loss, but still.

Uh, on PC you can play against them nearly every day. They hardly ever play on console. Most of the devs/employees play on PC exclusively.

Also, in unrelated news: http://bf3stats.com/

Puts all your stats on one page and lets you do some pretty in-depth analysis. I was going to make one of those sig banners, but my stats (http://bf3stats.com/stats_ps3/Schm078) are horrendous.

Rockstar also does this too. I met one of them in an online match of GRab the gold in RDR a few months before I sold it. Turns out if you kill them you get a nice trophy

Are you sure it was a Rockstar dev? That trophy is viral and can obtained by killing anyone that has already got it.

So this so self proclaimed top clan contacted me. The leader who is ranked #3 in scout hellicopters said he was very impressed with my kills because they were air to air on conquest. He said he needed an elgible Jet pilot for a tourney giving 1.6mill!!

So I played with these guys and holy s&$@, these guys are the truth. Every one with a [TAo] tag was at the top of the list everygame. They all have like 3.0 KDRs or better. Anyway I'm in.

You can find there stats by checking my friends list on the battlelog and you can find me on the ps3 air jet leader board I'm 3rd about to hit 2nd.

Fffffff... Was checking out the leaderboards and noticed that the number 1 kill streak is 1410... And the longest headshot is 1930.19 meters... Wtf? How!?

And... Um... Boosting much (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655391363171661/stats/)? Seriously... The founder for this is in the top 8 for a few different leaderboards... And he's maxed...
