NA LBP2 Beta. [Beta Patch 1.01 now live in NA!; READ BEFORE POSTING]

I sure hope so.... I really do have this problem all the time. Two weeks ago I tried to download a demo... it took 2 days! What's that about?!

What results do you pull on http://pingtest.net ?

For those downloading in background, just play single-player game that isn't constantly online (such as LBP/ Demon's Souls, etc.) but one that doesn't require anything from the online.
Downloads still work as long as you're not playing online, so it should help pass the time better than just standing around, no?
(The game can have online features or multyplayer mode, but as long as you're "offline" DL will continue.)

If you don't have offline games, just go on the PS3 browser, go to Youtube, roam the forums, watch some series or something.
Downloads continue even while on the internet browser as well.

I have a slight problem of sorts... Well, I received a beta code once for an LBP Beta some time ago... About after the Water beta. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think I remember reading somewhere that Mm had accidentily sent out non-working codes for a non-existent beta. I was wondering if maybe this still counts me as a beta tester, I mean, would I be included in the group of Water/OC testers who automaticly get into the LBP2 beta? If so, I havent received any emails about it, I am in NA also.

Not trying to rant or anything, I just wanted to get this sorted out. I still have the email if that helps. Should I try contacting Mm?		2010-10-16 02:40:00

Got home and found the beta code in my email . So I downloaded the vest and now I'm downloading the beta. My PS3 is set to turn off when it's finished so I don't know how it's doing, but from what I hear, it's gonna be a while. I want to work hard and try to get that beta bug blaster suit though. So when I finally get into it, expect me to report bugs left and right. I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy helping out the developer even if it's through a little work. Makes you feel like you contributed. Anyways, I'm going to quit blabbing and wait for the download. Listen to music, watch a movie, etc.2010-10-16 03:02:00

U.S. Players can't play with EU Plaers because U.S. players' beta is pre-patch, but at least U.S. players will be able to enjoy his "Real T.v." level fully! ^^

I'm glad their's a patch coming, because I've frozen twice now. Though I must say, a level I worked on that used lighting a lot, looks BEAUTIFUL with the new engine. It's amazing. I'm probably gonna do a comparison video tomorrow, so people see how much prettier LBP2 is.2010-10-16 03:21:00

If anyone happens to have a US Beta Pass from a a seperate account but had already been in the UK Beta, would you mind sending me a code? I haven't lucked out on Betas recently and am getting increasingly anxious about this game, and I would really love to get to grip with the new logic system.

Extra Info: I have Programming experience in Visual Basic, C++, and GML.

I've re-read the quote about the 20th of October but I'm not sure if that means more people are being chosen till then, just people being let into the Beta forums who haven't signed into any of their forums yet.

Fun fact: Not having Patch 1.01 = Not being able to play any levels made in 1.01, which is every level out there. (Pretty much.)

I had a friend who had gotten a code when the EU codes were going out... It took her around three days to reach around 20%... And then her download corrupted.		2010-10-16 04:04:00

Search for secret materials or secret item levels, people publish god-glitch items there, there should be some that will work on 1.00 and you will find grabinator

I'm not in the beta so I'm not 100% sure about it, but O-K-I-N-G-O told me that people were able to use create tools in the tutorials, and they were able to save Grabinators.		2010-10-16 04:13:00

you should have all the logic and gizmo's by default....least i did. - i too got the sackbot glitch as well. bummed me out as i wanted to dress up a sack bot in a costume i created in LBP1 specially for this occasion, tried glitched cried.

NA users be wary that the 1.01 patch has not gone live for us yet, so don't post any bug reports until this becomes available. i was posting like a mad man until this was brought to my attention.

Well costume change freeze can be walkover by tuning off controller on freezed menu, waiting for sackboy to disappear and turn controller back.

Pretty disappointed not to get an email. I'm pretty sure I've lost more time due to glitches in LBP1 then a lot of folks have spent playing it.

If you are in NA using v1.00 and your menus are all spazzed out--disconnect any keyboard/keypad you've got hooked up.

OP is too big for me . Does it say anywhere how to check your notification boxes and how to ask for them to re-send you your email? If not, I think you will need that.

Oh, and I've thought about it too much and I forgot. Does the bit where it says that the site is being updated every day till 20th mean the forums are being updated with new users (completely new to the PS forums) or does it mean more beta people? However, for fun try going to the beta forum and when it yells at you about no access or you see the generic forum list, and if you are logged in (still with no official access), try logging out then hit the beta forum link again. Sometimes browsers and web sites can be funny.

Yes.. that was posted on the official Beta site. We were supposed to get 1.01, but oops.. we did not. I figure they will load the patch out there on Monday or so.

As you may know the BETA testers that were in the tests from Online Create onwards were the only ones guaranteed to get the LBP2 BETA.

The original BETA, from before the game were released does not count and is irrelevant.

MM never said those people would get in the beta. However they did say recently there will still looking for more ways to let us play the game. So this isn't really impossible.

Really wish MM would simply post of list of PSN and dates their getting it - sure would solve a LOT of issues. All of this, "some people, with "certain DLC", etc has been confusing and irritating to say the least. I feel bad for folks with a slow connection, mine's really good but it still took 40 minutes to download on Friday. When I found out it was the 1.0 version I didn't even bother to run it...I worked on my LBP level instead. I've love to help Mm out but I'm not going to waste my time with an old build. Someone messed up giving NA the 1.0 version...I can certainly understand Mm not wanting to hear about/waste time with bugs that may have already been fixed; you can be sure the devs didn't want to give us the old build. don't blame Mm blame the most masterful minds of idiots known as SCEA...they NEVER let us down and they're the reason we have the 1.0 version of the game instead of the 800MB patch thats can't be background downloaded and will take me years to download :'(

Well reason is simple MM made install version of 1.00 and patch version of 1.01, and you need to have 1.00 to install 1.01, so one way or another you guys would need to patch anyway. But it's Sony fault that they didn't deliver patch yet2010-10-18 21:57:00

Yes that was my drive, but it's not like I completely ignored all the other benefits. Im sure any LBP player who gets plus is thinking the same thing. Leaving PS3 on overnight doesn't YLoD PS3s m8, not taking good care of it (cleaning vents often and such.) does.

Sure, leaving it on w/out stop one week in a row may cause it, but leaving it on over night one day every now and then will most likely not.

Unless you have a REALLY old model, heck I used to leave my Fat 80GB PS3 on oveernight pretty often, and it never YLoD on me for the time I had it.

i had a 2 year old phat ps3 that ended up YLOD on it...i took extremely good care of it to the point that it surprised me that it didnt last longer...ended up getting a slim at the end of the day...so i guess ill leave it on overnight and see if this finally ends for me

and hopefully ill be able to download the 800mb patch the same way too...because GOD i want to play this beta as much as possible (since they told us NOT TO REPORT BUGS for this current update i like to see it as a playtime window for us to enjoy the game until patch 1.01 when its back to going to work on bugs)		2010-10-19 06:00:00

First, check the title for if NA codes went out.

NA beta phase 1 was supposed to start with, or close to EU, but didn't. The activity invites from it were lumped into Phase 2 (the one that started last Friday aka this thread) phase 2 invites were water+oc beta + phase 1 and some PS+, some DLC owners, and some community contributors.

{WE DO NOT know anymore than the above.)

Small tip, check out your levels that you made in 1.00 first, they might be bugged after 1.01

Woah... calm down, there's no need to yell about it. It's only been fifteen minutes since your original post, plus we are not Sony or Mm so we don't have the answers you're looking for. What makes you think having a 77 as opposed to a 78 would increase your chances of getting a code anyways?

I'd suggest asking one or all of your four friends for that email address, as they clearly know what it is. If they don't give it to you, perhaps they aren't really your friends after all. That's what I'd do if I were you. 		2010-10-20 00:30:00

I followed the instructions given on the front page of this thread below. Now my problem is waiting till it downloads which it randomly stops sometimes. I'm watching now while playing my DS.

Technically, phase 1 and 2 of the NA beta were lumped together. (Source: Info gathered by Foofles)

There probably will be further phases, but we have 0 info aside that there could be further phases (Source: I think it was mentioned on that PSBlog post)

I just downloaded the beta Friday night after I'm invited about a week ago. I don't know if the patch is installed already or not. I encountered the bugs that supposed to be fixed according to the private beta forums so either the patch is not installed or maybe it's just me. Every time I leave LBP2 beta, my PS3 makes a beeping sound before it turns off and/or I'm about to enter the PS3 menu and sometimes it froze. Its a long shot, but theres one thing you may want to try...

Under network setting, disable media sharing. It solved a lot of my downloading problems. May not be of any help to you, but its worth a shot.		2010-10-25 05:31:00

The solution was posted on the official beta forums but I'll go ahead and repeat it here. Boot up the beta. When it prompts you to download the patch, push circle to decline. Wait for it to get all loaded up to where you're in your pod. Try to access a community feature--it will prompt you to go online and when you say yes, it will bring up the 1.01 download prompt again. Go ahead and download it now and it should go smoothly for you. No idea why you have to be in your pod for it to work, but it seems to be the case (maybe the game is still trying to load the pod in the background when you try to install the patch from the first prompt?)		2010-10-25 08:54:00

I have exactly the same problem - PS3 reboot after exit the beta and today after several levels I can't open any more levels from community moon or from story mode - sign "loading" rotates forever. Rebooting is a common thing that betas tend to do. Just FYI.


The community/story levels issue seems to stem from when a player's (or an official) earth (the materials decorations etc.) is not left to load fully - it seems as if it causes an error, which then gets communication with the server stuck and doesn't time out, nor attempt to retry. "You will have to forgive the fact that you haven't received a code so far, put simply SCEA and SCEE's computer for choosing beta participants isn't likely to be the smartest machine around, hence Media Molecule have supplied me with some beta codes to issue to those LittleBigPlanet community levels that are truly deserving."

After short conversation via pms he send me the code for lbp2 beta.

You see, I haven't gotten a code. But I've played LBP for 6 Months straight, got it stolen, got GOTY last christmas and haven't put it down since. 9 hrs a day during the summer. I love LBP, am a mature 13 year old, and don't participate in H4H. I make awesome creations, but ever since LBP2 was announced, I've been wanting to wait for release or Beta to finish. There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of other people just like you that also did not receive a beta code. Media Molecule and Sony were intentionally vague about the beta selection criteria, so how should I know?

What I do know is that spare codes are limited, and those codes should be given out to the people who most deserve them. Who those "deserving" people will be is solely up to those with beta codes to give away, not me.

But we shouldn't be suggesting to every person here on LBPC to go begging stevenl on the LBP forums for a code. That was my point.

Then I think you misread my statement. If I had a dollar for each "I didn't get into the beta" post on this site, I'd be a very rich man. The thing is, there are hundreds of "more deserving" people that were most likely left off Sony's list for one reason or another. Are some of those people talented creators? Sure. Genius logicians? Perhaps. Hard-core, 9-hours-a-day, I-don't-play-any-other-game-other-than-LBP type people? I'm almost certain of it.

Should we then advocate to those "deserving" people here, in this thread (with 27,529 views at the time of this writing), on one of the most popular LBP fansites in the world, that "if you didn't get a beta code go ask stevenl on the LBP forums. He's got codes!"

I say no. I can only imagine how much impact such a statement would have, and would be even more interested to know how many people read that post and went right out to the LBP forums and did just that.

Again, I'm not the one making decisions over who gets in and who doesn't. That's up to Media Molecule and Sony, and whatever mysterious criteria they've used to make their decisions.

What I can tell you is the reason why you hadn't yet received a beta code:

As far as I know, the Asian Pacific region has not yet been added to the beta. If and when they do, you might have had an excellent chance at receiving a code. But you'll never know that now.		2010-10-29 03:00:00

As of now, Beta participants are chosen automatically through some system Media Molecule devised, but they have acknowledged the fact that their system may leave out some deserving creators, which is why they handed StevenI "some beta codes," for human intervention.

My friend has Plus and he has been selected into the beta like me. His message to me:

How do you get in the beta. It sent him a message saying he has been picked for it for PS Plus. He doesn't know how to do it though so how do you do it?

and being in PSN+ doesn't automatically net you the code...it's just a factor that helps boost your chances

Not sure what message you are talking about, but if it was on PSN it might have been a spoofed message from someone playing a bad joke on him. As Shadowcrazy said you get an email to your home email that has the code. That code is the only way you get access to the Beta.

They will not be shutting off the beta servers considering that it is hosted on their new(ish) servers that they got while testing LBP.me in LBP. All they would be doing is moving LBP1 to the never server which I believe has been done.

If they do what they did with OC/Water/BE beta, they will wait until nobody uses it, delete all the levels to free up some server space and then leave it open until something new we need to test comes out. This way they only need to patch it instead of creating a whole new client.		2010-11-04 12:56:00

Yeah, just to re-emphasize this point: most people claiming that the beta is coming to an end are referring to an old announcement that I believe came out before the release date was delayed. According to the most recent Playstation Blog post (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/11/05/littlebigplanet-community-update-2/): "We have a few more phases of the beta planned so if you?re longing to get on the beta stay tuned, and we?ll let you know where to go to get them."		2010-11-07 02:36:00
