Art of the Ninjaferret :3 {_Updated Regularly_} {REQUESTS:CLOSED}- I MAKE SHIRTS NOW

Archive: 811 posts

I can't believe it took me so long to see this thread. Your work is amazing! I have really enjoying looking at what you are producing.
As far as someone buying your work, don't sell yourself short. My Mom was a stained glass artist. She started off by joining an artist guild in her area and would go to craft shows and flea markets to display her work. She asked some of the local businesses if they would display her work. The quality she had in her work was noticed and she began getting requests. Mom had a very sucessful business for 25 years. Even after her passing away people are still calling my Dad to buy the items that are left.
So just get your work out there,be patient, and all your hard work will pay off. YOU ARE VERY TALENTED!

I'm sure Zim thought that too when she had the idea.

So anyways, what we got there? A school of sackpersons and a naavi hybrid genet?
Yes, that's exactly what we got here!
Good eye my friend, good eye.

Wow...
Thank you two very much for your kind and supportive words!
you have no idea how much they're appreciated, especially in this time in which I've been frustrated with myself and severely doubting my own abilities.

Lady, I'm sorry about your mother and her story is very inspirational- i'll certainly think of it in my more troubled times as an artist.
Oh and, I must say, you've sparked my curiosity; what exactly is an Artist guild? It sounds so official and sophisticated..
Must you pass a great test and pledge a sacred oath of honor to join one?

Never doubt your abilities, you are truly gifted!
I am honored that you are inspired by my Mom's story.

This is from the Artists Guild my Mom belonged to:
Basic Info Name: (Town) Civic Art Guild Group
Category:Organizations - Non-Profit Organizations
Description:The (Town) Civic Art Guild is a non-profit group of area citizens dedicated to the advancement and promotion of art in (Town) Texas and surrounding areas.
Competitions, exhibits, events, workshops, festivals, and other activities are planned, sponsored, and hosted each year for the Central Texas Community.

They are a group of artist (all types and styles) that not only promote, support, teach but also sell their various crafts. Love of art is usually the only requirement.
Check in your area and see if any are available if that sounds interesting to you.

All of your Drawings are outstanding Ninja, so out of curiosity I thought I'd ask if you don't mind
I was wondering, when did you first start drawing and painting? What's your inspiration?

Sorry for taking so long to reply! D:

Ok, let me try to remember this fairly accurately...

I drew a bit on and off when I was little. I would draw Ed from Edd Ed N' Eddy and a few dragons here and there because those were two things that I was absolutely crazy about back then( those are drawings that I assure you will not ever be seen by anyone that hasn't seen them already and that are currently being held in an undergound safehold in a remote corner of Russia so that they may never see the light of day for the rest of their existence), but drawing was never a really big thing for me until I was 10 or11(i'm 14 now).

I began watching a show on animal planet (which was new at the time, and I wanted to see what the big deal was) called Meerkat Manor(which is basically a natural soap opera about the lives of a family of meerkats called the "Whiskers") It had alot of drama, but it also had its interesting parts, and I loved the different personalities the meerkats had, not to mention that I found the general social behavior of meerkats positively fascinating- I had no Idea what the heck a meerkat was (I later found out that they're a type of mongoose)- They seemed almost like foot-long canines to me because of they're social structure and the odd bark-like noises they made.

I became a fan of the show, then discovered the internet for myself for the first time (i'm not sure what is was like for you, but for me, finding the ever expansive compilation of information where you could search for anything and get results instantly that is the web was astounding and overwhelming.), and after a bit of digging around(unintentional meerkat pun D: ) I found the website for thestudy project that the particular meerkats from Meerkat Manor were apart of. There, I found a page showcasing fanart that people had sent in for the show.

just loved what I saw; The way that a semi-realistic drawing captured the meerkats'personalities while still being anatomically accurate was just amazing to me. knew at that moment that I wanted to do that. "if they can do it, then so can I! How hard could it be?"- that was basically my mentality, and I stuck with it for awhile.

One of the drawings inparticular (the best one, in my opinion) had a link to the artist's DeviantART profile next to it. Her username was Servalgirl, and at the time she seemed like a 20-year-old me that lived in Norway (though I later realised jus thow different we are after finally having a first conversation with her almost 4 years later- When I first join DA for myself) . I was awed by how many of her interests were similar to mine; She had the same favorite cartoon as me, liked Meerkat Manor, and a few other things like ferrets and their relatives. She helped spark my interest -and later, passion- in strange and unpopular animals,as well as my inspiration to become an artist myself.
I had, for awhile, restricted myself to ever viewing her DA page (I was afriad of what content might be found elswhere on the site, and wasn't about to get myself in trouble.), but I eventually let my curiousity get the better of me, and found a few other artists there that also inspired me quite a bit.

My first attempts digital drawings were of failed meerkats, a wolf( never again, unless somebody pays me to) and a two ferret-ish character thingies with long ears, and unnaturally colored manes, all drawn using only Microsoft paint and a mouse (which sucks toes by the way. If you ever want to be a digital artist, then I urge you, in the name of all that is good, to use a tablet and any program better than MS paint. It takes getting used to, but you'll be glad youdid. )

I eventually got LBP and in turn took a break from practicing art as much to be obsessed with it, until I found Lbpc and started taking requests.
Requests have helped me improve a lot over time; they present a challenge for me that gets me much needed experience every time I make one, not to mention it makes me happy when somebody really appreciates me doing it for them or is amazed by the outcome.

In a nutshell, it’s generally my fandoms, interests , passions, and other artists that have fueled and inspired my artwork from the very beginning, and still do today.
It’sa weakness of mine that If I put no passion into something i'm drawing(like if Iforce it or don’t particularly like the thing I’m drawing), then it usually doesn't turnout quite right. I’ve unfortunately learned that the hard way.

I'm sorry that I wrote a memoir of my life as an artist instead of just answering your question.
I often have a tendency to assume that people care about the details, though they usually don't.

Oh well.. :arg:

Sorry Ninja ...my dog ate them.

Haha, I don't mind how long it took to answer, I'm sure you're quite busy.
Wow, that's an interesting story ya' got there. Quite inspirational also. I'm glad you got into all the Art stuff because you're a great Artist and so many people look forward to always seeing more work from you. I'm a fan of your Art, I now admire it more since I heard the story.
I like how you didn't give up the drawing, it's what made you the awesome Artist you are now. So don't ever stop drawing.
Oh, and no no no, I like how you write a lot to answer a question, it provides more details.
I was the same way when I got internet, except I didn't know how to use it.. Didn't go well hence all the locked Threads. D:
Good luck in the future with your Art! Keep it up n' you could make a business of it.

Don't mind the details at all. Imo to fully understand and appreciate how someone has evolved you must know the details. I find them extremely interesting. You have accomplished quite a bit in just 4 years. Again you are truly talented!
LOL
I'm sorry, how about - I tried to put them up on the website but apparently it went into a digital black hole. (Rick gave me that one).

Welll, when you put it that way...
go ahead and post up a picture here(or multiple ones if you can) and i'll see what I can do; I just passed to the 9th grade and my semi-manic-depressive self is in a pretty good mood.

-Something about me, Inspirational?
That's a bit surprising. :o

-A business would be great, but I have a feeling i'd make a cruddy entrepreneur.

-Well I probably would've had a lot of locked threads when I was new too if it weren't for me being to shy to make one back then.

Well... Do you want one enough to pay real money for it? xD..
I'm kinda trying to save up to get a move controller so I can make an animated film with my friend in LBP

It's ok if you don't want to pay, but I just want everyone to know that'd be the last free request i'd make when requests are closed.(Please see the new poll)

You've done some wonderful artwork that has been an absolute delight gazing over so I'm sure it's fine that you push on forwards to commissions, gotta make money somehow. Anyway though, not sure I'm gonna be able to pay for a commission but I support this effort wholeheartedly, but since that's not exactly an option, I just clicked on "Does it come with fries?" x]2011-09-27 04:23:00

I thought you vanished from the face of the internet... I haven't heard from you in [insert long time measurement here].

Thank you for your support.
Even though you aren't going to shower me with riches(likely 4 dollars or less. or more maybe more- I don't know how to price these reasonably D: ), I still appreciate it.

Haha, yeah...wild story, has to do with huge amount of technology screwing up <_> But I finally got it all working, for now at least. Anyway, I posted it on your profile just cause it would probably be too off-topic, posting it here. Also, about commissions, it also might be good to figure out how they would pay you. You could do it via Pay Pal, maybe also via PS codes or gifting incase you wanna not just get move controller but the LBP kit aswell, unless you bought kit first already, but up to you, just making some random suggestions.

- I'll get right to reading that. :o..

-If I do end up taking comissions then it would definetely be through Paypal.

-I already do have the pack. I just need the conroller to play the levels, collect the stuff, and use the Paint tool(which is the #1 reason I got the pack at all. That, and the new instruments which are awesome.).

So this can't be like a guy riding anything, etc.?

Well it depends; If it's a vehicle, then that would be way more difficult for me and take much longer than just a sackperson (by "guy" you do mean a sackboy right? Because I really can't draw humans yet.) by itself.
I'm not even sure I could draw a vehicle in any amount of time actually. I don't have the technical skills or knowledge- heck, I can only barely pull off backgrounds... Perspective planes are a nightmare for me; It's an area where I really feel I require formal education.

For example: It's not like I can't draw a box and make it look solid, but when there are multiple boxes different distances away from each other, I have trouble making them all look like they're sitting on the same ground level, If that makes any sense.
I've tried reading instructions and tutorials alike on the subject, but the way they explain it always outright confuses my puny ferret brain.

That all being said, drawing vehicles properly requires symmetry, perspective, and a steady hand( not to mention parallel lines, according to my friend's art teacher; I'm not sure what the full trick is.) which are all things I somewhat lack, so I don't think I'm not qualified for the job.

However, if it's a sackperson riding an animal, then I've done that before, and i'm sure I could do it again easily

only One thing to say About that Sackbot......HOLY **** ON A **** SANDWHICH....Its Beautifal

**** on a **** sandwhich? hmmm.. I'll have to try that later.

Glad you like it!

So im guessing you can't draw a TRON Lightcycle xD? How can you say that you can barely draw backgrounds?! They look amazing to me!

Hmm.... How about this guy shooting a Huge Lazer out of his Frying Pan ?

Ferret actually PM'd me about a month ago noting how she was incredibly busy and breaking away from the internet incidentally, mind the PM she sent me was a response to one I sent to her about 3-5 months ago...so it took her a while to respond, which means she's really busy.

I would copy/paste a part of the PM she sent me but I just realized I probably deleted it while cleaning out my inbox a week or so ago.

Edit: Oh and there's also this obvious message on her profile I just noticed:

To all that are not me:

I have been inactive for one true reason, and that reason is that I am very busy with online school. I don't know if anybody cares that I am gone or wonders why, but for those who might, you know now.

I am very sorry and hope to become active here (art and all!) again sometime soon, but until that day comes, please do not forget about me completely, because I have not forgotten about you.

Sincerely,
Ninja

As many (perhaps even one!) of you may have noticed, I have been gone for several millenia or something like that, the reason is school and nothing more. Now that I have tiny window of free time I will try to be an artist again.

I feel like I need to learn more than ever, after losing a bit of my "skill" during my absence from joy- I mean- art.
Alright, well, I'm here now. I have an actual ferret now, which is the best. I got him right after Christmas and he is the cutest little sock ever.

Anyhow, I have started trying to draw again with questionable success, but I will not give up. Recently, I ordered some fabric paints online and I have started painting custom shirts. My friends have even "commissioned" me, and by that I mean they thought the design I made for myself was cool and wanted one themselves.

At the moment I have ywo that I need to get done before this coming Friday, so there's some pressure. But I enjoy it so much that it will most likely hardly feel like work.

Here is the design I made for myself:

http://th09.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/227/b/e/custom_linsang_shirt_design_by_ninjaferret22-d5b72gf.png

The animal seen on the shirt is a member of the Carnivora order called a Banded linsang
They are animals that resemble felines, but are only in the Feliformia suborder. Meaning, they are sort of related to cats, but that's it. :arg:

Banded and spotted linsangs were once a member of the Viverridae (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.arkive.org/explore/species?taxonomy=animalia_chordata_mammalia_carniv ora_viverridae#species?taxonomy=animalia_chordata_ mammalia_carnivora_viverridae&_suid=1344968788598009930196154967552) family, but have recently been moved to their own family, Prionodontidae.

I am disappointed that they were moved, because originally the shirt was going to say "Viverridae" instead of "Linsang", which probably would've looked better, but I chose scientific accuracy over aesthetics.

Other than this shirt I have also made a Marble Hornets (http://marblehornets.wikidot.com/)/Slenderman (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/slender-man)-themed shirt for my little sister with the Operator symbol (http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=operator+symbol#/d4es3xr)on the front and text that says "Operator", with an image of good ol' Slendy on the back and text that says "Slenderfan". It looks good considering how easy it was.
If you guys want I'll upload a photo of it too

I love Slenderman so much that I might even just draw him for the heck of it at some point!

Anyhow, this is the first of what I hope will be many other shirt designs, so stay tuned whoever you are!

Love,

~Ninja.

It's so good to see you make your return to LBPC, Ninja. That T-shirt's seriously slick, and despite not knowing very much about good 'ol Slendy, I say bring on the Slenderman t-shirt.. please. :>

Now, if you haven't done so already, you should find the time to tell gdn and >er that you're back. I'm sure they'll scream like little girls like I did when I first heard the news of your return.

All right. I'll do a Slendy shirt photoshoot today then.
It's nothing spectacular, but I think it conveys the Marble Hornets theme well enough. :arg:

I already messaged Gdn yesterday (with no reply ) and >er just now.

As for gdn and >er, I'm sure they'll respond, I do know that they've been posting pretty frequently with me in >er's comic group. Which reminds m, as you can see, a lot of the old artists are pretty much gone now. Zim, Darkie, RottenAvacado, etc.

Sorry, I have some trouble responding to people when I'm offline.
Anyway, I already saw and commented it in DA, but, Slenderman shirt? Need visual stimulus now!

What? Zim is gone? Forever? And Darkie? And Avocado?

Did Zim say she was leaving? D: What about the others? Or did they just stop posting suddenly?

It's kind of tricky, since my PS3 screwed up for a long period of time just a few days after purchasing LBP2, and my laptop then starting screwing up a couple weeks later, until I had to wait forever until I could replace it. but yeah, for a couple months I was basically away from LBPC, so I wasn't exactly sure if they said goodbye or just left. I'm pretty sure Zim just got too busy but still did a couple livestreams from time to time, did some updates, that stuff, and yeah. She basically went away like..forever, but now you'll see her meandering about here on multiple occasions, she just doesn't post anymore it seems.

Nice tee by the way. :] I like how Slendy's body molds into the shirt color.

I understand how she might have stopped wanting to post forever. That's how I felt after having no choice but to be out of touch for so long, after all. I've seen her upload one or two things on DA, but that's all. Maybe she'll decide to make a comeback like I did. Or perhaps not.. Only time will tell.
Other things may have changed in her life that we're unaware of, keep in mind. She might have happenings in her family, schooling, made new friends, or maybe even just got bored here. I think we should just remember that she doesn't really owe us an explaination, especially after all she has done(tons of free requests and other things.)

I can summon her for 50 mana.
What color of mana, though? (Do you play Magic: The Gathering?)

And, well hopefully more artists will take the place of those lost (not that I'm saying any of them could truly be replaced.) We will see.

@Dragon: Zim lost interest in LBPC/LBP (and the requests probably scared her off too), just like a bunch of other people. She doesn't really visit unless someone (like me, >er of GDN) messages her to see/read something. She's doing her own thing, and if you wanna keep in contact with her, just find her on Tumblr or Skype; she always likes new friends.

@Ninja: Zilly Ninja ! Holy crap, girl ferret, it's been EONS since you buzzed around the Central. Now, it looks like you need some updating on the other artists:

-I already mentioned Zim above (lemme know if you want link(s)).
-RottenAdvocado and Darkie got occupied with college. I've managed to find Darkie's dA (http://yeomaria.deviantart.com/); I have no idea where Rotten is.

I'm actually glad that you're busy irl, cuz that means that you're doing something (something productive for that matter). LBPC isn't the same as it was a year ago; things just aren't what they used to be. BUT, little joys like you always help brighten the mood.

OH! And... if you're still intersted, I'm still writing that one story (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=68924-Worlds-Apart). Give it a read if yah got the time.

really though, hey ninja!! it's great to see you back. it's true i don't post a lot anymore, but i'm still lingering around. definitely not gone forever. maybe someday when i'm feeling motivated enough i'll do some more LBP art, but right now i'm just not terribly interested in it, and i don't have the time. you can find me here (http://zimmington.tumblr.com/) all the time, though.

but this thread isn't about me!!! so welcome back, ninja!

Hai Outlaw! I'm so happy to hear from you again (and with such enthusiasm at that.)
It's a shame that LBPC has changed, but change is something that comes -good or bad- whether we like it or not. :/

I lightened the mood? Well at least my presence did something!

And I'm definetely still interested in "that story." I will without doubt read more when I have the chance.

ZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIMMMMMMMMMM

Oh Gawd Zim, I thought I'd never hear from you again for some reason! D:

I can relate to your situation that I am sort of bored with LBP, but that's only because I accidentally bought the Move pack without having a Move controller and desperately wish that I could use the paint tool. Alas, the Move is expensive.

Pro tip: when there is $0 in your wallet on PSN and you go to buy something with your tongue in your cheek ,it does not tell you "no", It just discretely adds money to your wallet using your information that you forgot it had. I mean, seriuosly.. WHAT THE FUDGE IS THE POINT OF BEING TECHNICALLY BROKE IF I CAN STILL BUY S***...

*Ehrm*
Couple that with the fact that LBP in general consumes alot of time to get anything significant done, and 'tis a recipe for scarce playing by me anymore because there are other things I want to spend time on.

--
I'll be sure to check out your Tumblr and Rotten's DA (I think I might have seen it once already though).
Also expect a VM or PM from me with a question (I just don't want to start to muchh off-topic conversation here.)

Anyway, thank you both for the "welcome back." I really appreciate the acknowledgement.

Soooo... For anyone who still views my thread( if anyone): I've painted a new shirt design.

http://th02.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2012/244/8/3/custom_slenderman_t_shirt___request__by_ninjaferre t22-d5d7ro7.png

It's Slendy-related once more I'm afraid (sorry for those who don't lke him that much, or at all D: ), but I'm fairly content with the outcome in comparison with the last I made! I happened to actually give it sort-of-maybe-not-really-good composition by centering Slendy and making the lines go towards his-um.. 'un-face' and blah blah blah because blah is blah and that's why I blah all the time blah becauseidon'tknowanythingaboutcomposition blah.

Well, if my placement actually was that good, then I can't really tell,
SO SOMEBODY TELL ME IF IT IS PLEASE OK THNXBAI.

Anyhow, this jerk (and by that I mean the shirt) used up the last of my white fabric paint, which upsets me because I use white in everything I paint at least a little bit (I could try to make something without it, but it might not turn out well.)
I blame the economy

This requested by a friend in real life who seems to like Slendy just as much as I do, if not more.

*Ahem* So about the image itself:
As much as I had initially wanted to paint it a funny parodic shirt making some kind of witty reference to some part Slenderman lore, but he insisted it be serious, so I sucked it up and then I tried to find the theme I wanted within the range of things about Slendy that are serious. My friend was generous enough not to be too specific though, and I am grateful for that.

I honestly thought it would take me forever and that I would be less than satisfied with the result. Success did not seem imminent to me, but to my relief the idea came surprisingly fast:

One of the coolest characteristics of Slendy is how he is seemingly "made" to blend in with the woods he so eerily treads. He is almost alwaysamongthe trees, whether or not you can spot him; whether or not you are aware, he blends in with his slim physique and extending branches/tendrils that reach out ominously from his back. This subtle presence is one of the most unsettling things about him, and since my friend wanted it to be serious bussiness, I tried to take advantage of it.

To fit with the tree theme, I attempted to draw him in his more elongated form with those famous branches of his (it's one of his many variations out there, and my favorite.)

I hope my friend likes it! (he hasn't seen it yet.)

If he does like it I'll know right away because he does this fangirl squeal when he's excited and... well... you get the idea.

I made a shirt for my boyfriend too, but I haven't put the photos together into one image yet (it isn't neccessary, but that's how I can upload it on DeviantART,) which is just neater.

If you guys want to see the Images in their un-compiled form though, then let me know an I will post them as soon as possible.

Thanks for taking a look a my crud,

~Ninja "Zilly" ferret22

EDIT:

I guess I'll add this:
http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/SLENdemon.jpg

I drew it for Bremnen because he was sort of having this Slenderman theme to his profile and he adopted a kitten recently.
I had the Idea for an image like this beforehand, so I thought the situation was puurfect for me to draw it (it's ok, you can shoot me if you want- I'm not normally a big pun person myself.)

Have you showed it to your friend yet?

Well, funny story. He saw me upload it on DA before I actually got to show it in person, so he wasn't as fangirly as he would have been without the spoiler.
He was still giddy, though. xD

Nice to see you back Ninja!

Nice to see you too Jaruto!

All that aside, here is some stuff.

http://th06.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2012/253/c/0/lbp_request__gamerguy5432_by_ninjaferret22-d5ebfqo.png

It's been so long since i've done one of these! It feels good to draw one once more, though.

Gamerguy requested 'anything' depicting sackboy and said that just a sketch would be fine, but the sketch was not particularly satisfying, so I painted it. I hope you like it, sir. :arg:

Lastly, there is this:

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/252/1/0/__silver_fox___custom_t_shirt_by_ninjaferret22-d5e0v6n.png

Here is the last of the requests for my friends that I managed to snap photos of before they took it home. This one is for my boyfriend. He didn't really "request" it, but he sort of implied that he wanted one.

There is an actual coloration of the common red fox (Vulpes vulpes) called a "silver fox" which looks nothing like this at all, but I was not thinking of it at the time, and he doesn't really know as much about animal stuff as me and making it look like the real variation would've probably caused unwanted confusion and need for long explaination. xD

So that's why it looks like a red fox with the orange parts of the fur replaced with grey.
But this wasn't about the factual accuracy for me, it was about trying to make something that looks appealing. I don't think it worked D:

---

That's all for now. Since i've made these requests Ive gotten two actual commissions(the kind which money comes from)!http://a.deviantart.net/avatars/h/u/hurrdurrplz.png?1 (http://hurrdurrplz.deviantart.com/) One from a Norwegian friend from DA and the other from the mom of the friend I made the Slenderman shirt for. It's really exciting and I can't wait to get started on the shirts themselves.
