I didn't get in, but a riend of mine did, who rarely plays lbp, and played the beta only once so far...
I guess all I can do is laugh...

Just seen a video of it in action.
The physics look impressive, but it's uses seem limited, I can tell a load of people are going to be disappointed as they were expecting it to function like a material, where you could designs levels with puzzles that involve moving water around.
That's not going to happen, because it acts like a global lighting switch, you stick this 'water switch' down and it simply has settings such as water level, water colour, clarity, and time (I assume the time it takes to fill up to that level), proximity (I assume player proximity to switch in order to trigger it)

I wouldn't think so.
Because if that was how it worked in Global Lighting Switches, it's how it'll work in this one.
Besides, since when was water a hazard, you can clearly swim in it, it's not like it's full of dangerous acids.

You can drown.

Now as appealling as this detail discussion is, I pretty sure it's in breach of beta terms and conditions.

It's possible that the beta emails were just delayed in the SCEA region. If that's the case then you probably just have to wait until next thursday when they can get everything up and running again.

Also remember to have the "Accept emails from Sony and third parties" checked in your account info. If that isn't checked then Sony aren't allowed to send you emails and you wouldn't of recieved the beta mail.

What's this I'm hearing from everyone I meet in LBP about the Water Testers getting exclusive costumes? I'm not against it or anything, I'm actually excited to see these costumes if this is actually true but, I do find that a little weird. Exclusive costumes for 90% (give or most likely take) of the testers who are only there for bragging rights and not to help out in the very least? That's double win for the Testers, triple if they actually report bugs, and lose lose (lose) for the normal folk.2009-09-18 20:41:00

It all goes back to the original Online Create Beta.
When that was first made public, Mm announced that the testers would also be receiving a special beta tester costume item.

This still applies for those who receive a key for the water beta.

MM is still going to get a response from people even if they don't send bugs in. So they know if anything might be good to add.2009-09-19 02:14:00

I guess it must be a leaked video then.

Time probably means how long you can survive in it(0 makes it a hazard etc.)

There was only one time setting, and I don't think they'll just make it poof into existence.
How long you can survive in it will probably depend on the 'oxygen' powerup.
There's probably a default air capacity that Sacboy has, and then you can set how much you want to extend that time with the powerup, or if you want it unlimited.
If you want to make it a hazard, stick an invisible sheet of gas over it.

CC still doesn't want anyone talking about leaks or something like that. Just a heads up.

I hope the final product isn't till next year.

I think, given how private things need to be, I should just not post at all if I get an invite and start playing.
Better safe than sorry, as one crazy Church Guy once said.

Changing the water's color will be neat.

Indeed, I can see people trying to create religious Dead/Red Sea levels already.

...Ew, dude.

That'd probably be russel's newest gimmick once water's released to the public.

what a dead thin layer of gas just below the water level, coloured yellow, with those stupid jump towers floating on top so if you fall in you die?

that would be neat if it wouldn't be exploited
