I'm not a man, A woman, or a ferret... ima NINJAFERRET!
(A rare species, yes- but existent nonetheless. )
Also, thanks.

Anywho, I feel the sudden need to barf some more new artwork onto the table, so here's a result of me being bored and sick(and with a congestion-induced headache)

http://www.sumopaint.com/files/images800/aahcddezfpaaptpg.jpg
Normal artists tend to draw wolf eyes, or human eyes, or even tiger eyes, but I... draw mongoose eyes :arg:

Mongooses have basically the same types of pupils as goats (oval-shaped horizontally), which may seem a bit creepy, but for the mongooses it cetainly comes in handy when it's time for them to scan the distance for danger in a 'wide screen' view.

Method: drawn with a graphite crayon on plain paper, then scanned and touched up in Paint Tool Sai.
reference was not used.

I love the eye Ferret , The three streaks in the pupil make me think of three bursts of light shooting through.
But that's just me.

Alrighty...

Terribly sorry for the double-post, but yesterday I accomplished something I didn't feel i should even bother trying until i was a considerably better artist; my first digital speedpainting

http://www.sumopaint.com/files/images800/aahggfezptbqhaem.jpg
The type of semi-realisim i attempted was inspired by the work of several incredible artists i've seen on DeviantArt recently.
Time elapsed was at least 2 hours (give or take a few minutes..lol)

It was originally just going to be a plain meerkat, but it began to look a little like Flower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Meerkat_Manor_meerkats#Flower) from Meerkat Manor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meerkat_Manor), so i reddened the fur a bit (her fur is characteristically redder than that of some other meerkats) and added a radio collar.

When i say that 'it began to look like her', you might be wondering exactly what i mean. A little question might've popped into your head that sounded something like: "meerkats are just animals, don't they all look the same since they're the same species?" .
The truth is, they simply don't, and to me, it's one of the most interesting things about them.
Each individual, much like people, have unique facial structures (though it's far more noticable in some than others) that can help researchers(or fans) in telling each one apart.
Examples:
http://www.wellingtonzoo.com/imageGallery/explore/animals/africa/meerkat/lrg/Meerkat%20002.JPG
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/04/chico_the_meerkat.jpg
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/06/11/flower_bloomed_into_a_tv_darling.jpg
(Real image of Flower)

Anyway, the painting is meant to be a semi-realistic charicature'd portrait of her, or something to that effect.

Looking at it now, i notice many mistakes such as the fur looks almost nothing like meerkat fur, the shadows seem a bit off, and the fur on her side/back looks kinda weird
I should really stop using reference pictures that are in poses diffrerent than the ones i'm trying to draw.

Alrighty...
Most dramatic painting of a meerkat I've ever seen. If I'd offer any criticism it would be that the whiskers simply should be a clear white and not pitch dark, the eyes seem too large, and the back protrudes too far like a bad hair day.

Very good though, it's excellent.

Yesh, I used SAI ( i don't remember how many layers, but it was alot)

Very good though, it's excellent.
-The eyes are larger than they should be because it's meant to be semi-realistic
-The meerkat in the particular reference i used had black whiskies for some strange reason, though most meerkats don't. I simply wasn't paying much attention.
-I'm aware that the back fur looks odd, but i was unsure how to fix it after it turned out that way.

Thank you for pointing those out

As a few of you may already know, DeviantArt.com is holding an LBP2-themed art contest (http://news.deviantart.com/article/141527/) in which participants must depict a custom level design in any visual art medium they like. Though i likely won't win, i'm entering, just for the heck of it (ya never know unless you try)

So here's my entry (it's a bit unfinished)

http://www.sumopaint.com/files/images800/abxccaxzaemqlabq.jpg
I'm not even sure if i did it right, but whatever xD
I'm probably going to make a second entry with a different theme just in case the strange one I picked doesn't fit the bill.

Before actually entering it, i'd like feedback or critique of some kind (I made it- there must be something wrong with it!); so if you think there's something i could add, improve, or otherwise, please let me know :3

(and sorry for the double-post yet again D: )

EDIT: i see no signatures so you're good...and since you're allowed to turn in more entries then yeah feel free to submit more so you have better chances...hope you win...at least even 3rd place since you'd get a PS3 but yeah hope you get 1st place. I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Thank you for the optimistic support Shadow
And yeah, actually making it into a level would be great, but it's just that drawing such things -to me- is much easier than creating them in-game.

Anyway, I've made progress since my last post:
http://www.sumopaint.com/files/images800/abxdaeazlxrexrgj.jpg
Well, not sure if it's 'progress' per say, but I consider bit to be:arg:

Well, if you want a semi-proffesional tool for digital art, then you should certainly get a tablet.(a wacom bamboo, to be exact)

You know you want one

I love that level concept, Ferret. The colors are very moody, yet calming at the same time. If that makes sense. Oh, and I use the Bamboo myself, and it works for me pretty well.

You should do a livestream too, sometime. I'd love to see how you go about drawing your work. The brush strokes are always so unique.

You convinced me. I've spent a couple of hours researching tablets and all and will probably end up getting a bamboo, just a couple of Q's though.
First off, do you have the small one, if so does it's small size limit you?
What would be better, the bamboo or bamboo fun?
How many fingers am I holding up?
Does paint tool SAI work well on it?
thanks!
And yes I prefer getting my answers from real people, not google....though i tried.

(I've numbered your questions so as to answer them efficiently)
1. I have the Bamboo pen & touch, it's one of the smaller ones, but it's not even limiting in the slightest.
2. I've never tried the Fun or the normal Bamboo; as i said above, i have the Bamboo pen & touch. The only difference between the normal and the Pen & touch is that with the normal you can only use the pen but with the touch you can use both the pen and your hands. You can compare all Bamboo tablets here (http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/product_comparison.php)
(http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/product_comparison.php)3. 2.5
4. Paint tool SAI does'nt work well on it, it works beautifully.

with paint tool sai on the other hand its working just fine :] (yess i just got it and it's aaaawesoooome!)

I think i downloaded GIMP once, and when i got to trying it i don't remember liking it at all. (not to mention it gave me a virus, like eveything else i ever download.. )

I recommend Paint Tool SAI over all other programs for tablet compatibility; Of all the programs i've tried with my tablet, it simply works the best and is the easest to use.
Thre's a 30-day free trial (http://www.systemax.jp/en/sai/), and to use it and be able to save files after that you have to pay for it.
Beware of the "free full cracked" versions of it though, some contain viruses.

I think I would love using SAI but... I have a Mac. *sigh* I can't seem to find anything that good either. The closest thing I can find is something called "SketchBook Express" which is the free version of "SketchBook Pro". It only comes with 5 stinking layers....... ugh.2011-02-07 04:41:00

Well, I (quite stupidly i might add) found that out the hard way.

Also, I should probably take this opportunity put the thread back on topic:
http://www.sumopaint.com/files/images800/ababdgxzlppeqmoj.jpg

Its a colored pencil/soft pencil drawing of my two characters- Zilly (my ferret fursona) and Tim (her meerkat assistant)- when they first met, or something liek that. (and to me, it looks terrible)

one more thing; I might re-open sackperson requests soon(provided anyone actually wants me to xD).
I miss drawing things for people and making them all happy n' stuff

Ay, Tis' because he's of a much younger age in that depiction. He'd also been separated from his family recently, so zilly took him in and began to take care of him and teach him to survive in an urban setting after she met him (despite them being pretty much the same age).

i'd explain more, but i barely have half the story figured out for myself...lol

awesome when zombies are involved.

And if zombies aren't romantic enough for you, here's something more V-day appropriate:

And about the request itself; When you say you want the sackboy "in mid air on the moon", do you mean he's in mid air after jumping off the surface? (Sorry if that's a dumb question )

About 5 or 6.

Yes, can you make him in mid jump. Thanks
Sure
My sackperson skills are a bit rusty though, so ima warm up first with normal sackboy sketches.
I'm also going to remake the request 'closed' and 'open' signs because i realise how ugly the old ones are now 8D.

I'm now taking sackperson art requests. If you'd like one, just post on this thread or PM me. Please be sure to include a clear picture of your sackperson, (preferably several from multiple angles) along with you're preference of whether you want it black and white or colored, what pose you want, whether or not you want a background, ect. I can also draw pictures with multiple sackpeople together and interacting.

I'm actually curious to see how a drawing of Amaterasu (http://images.wikia.com/okami/images/5/5e/Amaterasu_image.jpg) would come out.

-not actual request-

I think it'd come out nice, seeing as how the game is drawn as a painting.

Lol, yeah! Maybe with the Sackboy commanding an evil army of Sackbot's or something? That would look cool! I'll get some more angles for you to work off of too. I was just in a rush before! ^_^

I'll put them in the previous post with the other picture.

Though that sounds like it would turn out super awesome, I'm not sure if i'd be able to draw an army of sackbots in any short amount of time.
If you'd like to go through with it, however, i'll have to draw yours last. (if that's ok. D: )

Hmm...come to think of it. Maybe an army of Sackbot's would be too small to see (since i'll be using the pic for my avatar.) So, i'll let you decide what to do with it. My only words for you to go on would be "Dark" and "Hi-Tech."

P.S. Uploading the other angles 'n stuff now!

I'd like to make a request...

Of my raccoon costume!

If tail is included, it's just the werewolf tail stickered gray with 2 black rings on it. But I can just get more images if you need them.

The whiskers aren't supposed to be colorful but they were the best I could find. Also the hands don't normally have a weird purple tint either.

Please note that things are a little brighter than normal in those pictures.

Very nice, if critique for the sketch is acceptable (even though it's no where done) then I'd suggest some kind of smoke breezing off the feet or perhaps a shadow on the terrain to show that he is not in contact with the ground. (Looks like he's a giant on the crater lol.)

Oh, and if you're wondering why there's a mysterious green light coming from the lefthand side(or from his perspective, the rightpaw side)- I honestly don't know.
It could be anything you want: him being abducted by aliens, a green glowing blob floating toward him, ect.

Well, what it took for me to actually make the finished product look like that was extremely tedious and inconsistent. I had to keep re-positioning the eyes n' stuff until it looked even partially correct D:

I guess what i should've said is: "It's times like these i wish i could draw felines efficiently"
What i need to do is practice their anatomy more; i'm just always so set on practicing meerkats and ferrets instead xD

I'm currently in the process of making Mr_T's request.
Here's the WIP:
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/053/e/8/wip_request__mr_t_shirt_by_ninjaferret22-d3a2z17.png

I probably should've used some type of spaceship interior reference for the background
instead of coming up with my own; it likely wouldn't have taken as long that way. But then again, thinking of one myself makes it more original, so i guess that's good.

Oh and......

Nah, you're sackboy art is sure better than mine was before i started practicing alot.
Practice will always make you better, provided you enjoy the thing it is you're trying to get better at .

Hopefully you don't take as long as me to finish one batch.
Well at least you have an excuse- you have homework that needs to be submitted on time.
I , on the other hand, can do mine whenever i want provided i finish it all before the end of my school year, so the only reason i have not to finish them quickly is lazy procrastination and loss of motivation. :/

Hey, just to be sure, the OP saying that I've yet to send reference pics, is that because the OP hasn't been updated, or did I forget to send something?
Just asking in case I did, I'll send it ASAP.

Oops..
Sorry, i'm just ignorant and forgot to update it. It's now fixed.

I'm sorry the last few have been taking so long (i've been having motivation issues), but i've managed to start warlord's and it's just about complete; It just needs some finishing touches.

In the meantime, here are some animals
Viverrids:
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/057/b/3/viverrrid_doodles_by_ninjaferret22-d3ahaj0.png

I've always been passionate about the less popular animals in the world. Civets, linsangs, and genets are all members of a strange, mostly nocturnal, and not-so well-known family of mammilian carnivores known as Viverridae (http://www.arkive.org/search-taxonomy.html?q=Viverridae&requiredfields=Search_Family:Viverridae&client=arkive-info&site=arkive-info&related=Family&commonName=Banded)

The ones i drew here are are of different species, though i'm unsure which they are specifically because my reference was not labled and i'm too lazy to compare them to images of real viverrids on the web to tell which one each is... so yeah..
Also, If you're wondering what the one in the top-right is doing, he's munchin' on a taco.
They're beautiful creatures, and despite the fact that this is my first time drawing them, it actually was pretty fun and didn't turn out as bad as i thought it might.

Banded mongoose:

http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2011/057/5/1/banded_by_ninjaferret22-d3ah0o2.pngOf all the members of the mongoose family(other than meerkats), the banded
mongoose(Mungos mungo)is on of my favorites. Not only because of their
adorable red-nosed appearance, but also because of their intiguing behavior and
willingness to bully jackals out of their food xD

Meerkat(meh)

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/057/b/4/meerkat_portrait_by_ninjaferret22-d3agv5t.png
I just drew this mainly for anatomy practice and to test out a new coloring techniqe. It's nothing special.

For those awaiting requests, thank you for your patience.

Alrighty.. Warlord's is done:

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/059/4/3/lbp_request__warlord_evil_by_ninjaferret22-d3amtb9.png
I depicted what i think of when i think of a raccoon: A succesful omnivore that has become accustomed to an urban enviorment and that's willing to dig through garbage cans in order to find food and survive. (he's supposed to be holding a peice of beef jerky by the way)

I didn't have computer access when i made it, so Instead of making it digitally like i always do, this one was drawn with waterolors... which is why it ended up looking like an illustration....
from a children's book..http://a.deviantart.net/avatars/t/e/tearplz.gif?1 (http://tearplz.deviantart.com/)

Anyway, I hope ya like it Warlord.

Actually, that ferret drawing isn't charcoal... It's a watercolor pencil drawing that i fixed up in a digital art program called Paint tool sai, though i understand how you'd think it was charcoal.(i do use charcoal sometimes)

Also, i know i said i'd finish Silver's request like 2 days ago, but i haven't had alot of PC access lately...:/

Oh. My. Gawd...
That, my friend, is the pinnacle of epicness!

I can't even describe the pure awesomeness (in my eyes at least) of it!
You went far and beyond my expectations! (and I had already expected something awesome before!)
Don't worry, the wait was very well worth it, and the lighting makes it look as if they're in a cave, which makes it even more perfect for what I had in mind!

Thanks soo much Ninja, sure glad I managed to get a request in before they were closed.

Hai ya'll
http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/068/5/7/if_ferrets_could_talk___by_ninjaferret22-d3b90g4.png
This is what happens when i'm bored in a car with a sketchbook and try to
draw a ferret without reference.(and for some reason i drew on the
cardboard of the sketchbook instead of the paper. Go figure.. )

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/067/5/0/my_scroll_segment_by_ninjaferret22-d3b6tdm.png
Me and my sister had a long roll of paper lying around, so I decided we should
make a sort of a 'scroll' out of it. (by simply attaching a bamboo-like stick to each end
and drawing/painting on it)
We made an agreement that she'd get the left half and i'd get the right; this is my half.
I'd show hers, but apparently(according to her) it isn't finished and therefore not presentable.

I used a mix of paint, watercolor pencils, markers, colored pencils, and pink
flowers(by rubbing them on the paper. and yes, I'ma crazy hippy.)

Here's an unnecessary close-up(and fix-up) of the top-right corner http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/068/4/1/scroll_segment_close_up_by_ninjaferret22-d3b9jw6.png
"Hiya neighbor!"

Oh, and i'm gonna try and start Lgjoka's request now, provided i don't get hopelessly distracted.

As artistic as me? If anything, she's more artistic than me!(And she's only 8!)

She always has these crazy, elaborate, clever, and random stories about cats, ferrets, meerkats and dogs that can talk and hold weapons and dance and have wars and she's constantly drawing and writing them out or acting them out with her toys, and she's so dang enthusiastic about it all!

She draws them fighting, dancing, talking, having parties, going to the grocery store, and doing many other very random things that i can't even think of at the moment.
She draws sackpeople(pretty good ones for her age!) also doing all those things aswell.

She practically has a new story every day and will sit there for hours telling me the whole thing. They have so many elaborate twists and turns and after awhile it actually kinda gets annoying

My username on every online thing i have accounts on is NinjaFerret; hers is FunkiFerret(and with good reason, mind you. she's seriously funkay)
She's crazy, funny, annoying at times(the spongebob kind), but also loving and a good sister.

And sorry my reply is so long, but if yer gonna know one thing about her, ya might as well get the whole story. xD

.

As for the painting itself, well, she sorta painted over a real image.. but she did it to understand colors and shading better.

I'm glad she started art young. (unlike me, who started getting serious about it at 11 or 12)
She might get a chance to improve more than i did in a shorter amount of time than i did because she draws more often(almost every day) than i did when i was young.

I have a drawing for a ... -*pauses to look at list*-.. Mr. Lgjoka here:

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/074/9/6/lbp_request__lgjoka2002_by_ninjaferret22-d3bq526.png

After a (much) longer time period than i expected, i have finally finished this batch of requests.

This one in particular took such a long time for many complicated reasons that i don't feel like explaining at the moment, but it has to do with my brother using the computer more often than he usually does accompanied by my unexplained recent lack of motivation.

Anyway, enjoy.

Sorry dude, but requests are currently closed. I'm not going to re-open them until my brother is caught up with his online schoolwork (In order to catch up he's been having to use the computer all day every day)and I'm not sure how much longer this'll have to keep up.
When people request a drawing and i add their name to the pending list, i feel very obligated and pressured to finish each one within a reasonable amount of time( though there are times when i cannot), and I don't want people to be waiting too long, so until he's caught up i'm keeping requests closed. :/

And again, i'm sorry.

*Crawls out of Ferret Cave*

I come bearing art(or something that resembles it)

#1: Ugly attempt at drawing my pet flying squirrels realisticallyhttp://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/090/d/0/my_paranoid_flyers_by_ninjaferret22-d3cvi9s.png
This is from my sketch book and I don't know much about there anatomy; i was just bored and decided to sketch them from life.

They're a male anf female- Male on the left, female on the right; both trying to be invisible.
They're interesting to observe, but to actually catch them doing anything worth
observing, you have to have extreme patience- they'll only start moving around
once they think you aren't there, and that requires you to sit in one place and
not move a muscle for quite awhile.
In the few months i've had them
i haven't really given them names- i just haven't seen a whole lot that defines
their personalities very well other than the female is more dosile and the male
is just a big jerk that hates being touched.
They're both cute, but
pretty paranoid and iffy about people aswell- and for whatever reason the male is just alot meaner
about it than the female.

I was sort of leaning towards naming the female
'Rosey' or just 'Rose' because it sounds pleasant and peacful, and calling the
male "The Jerk" or "Mr. Don'tGetNearMeOrTouchMe", but only time will tell what i'll
actually end up callin' 'em.
All I know is, i need to stop just referring to
them as "The male" and "The female" >.>

#2: This is my half of an art trade with an artist that shares an incredible amount of interests with me and that inspired me to become serious about being an artist myself: Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/).
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/089/8/a/pffft___showoff___by_ninjaferret22-d3cudlv.png
Originally, it wasn't going to be a trade; she was just gonna make a gift for me and her friend Avanii (http://avanii.deviantart.com/), but she ended up telling me about it by accident(she wanted it to be a surprise, but blew it..lol), and i suggested we just make it into a trade instead because i was going to draw her something anyway ... xD

[/URL]

(http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/) She's been a great friend and aquaintence in the relatively short time i've been on DeviantArt.com and I feel really lucky and thankful that my first trade is with her

The characters depicted are:

(in the foreground) Herbie (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2vofv6):
from what I know, he's a fairly well-aged stoat(mustela erminea) that herds rabbits to trade for better prey.
And now he plays guitar too! xD

(in the background) Bucktooth:
A young, loud-mouthed least weasel(mustela nivalis) that's missing cuspids for taking down prey.

I was a bit iffy about how to make these two characters interact because i'm not sure of the full extents of their personalities, nor what kind of relationship they have/develope in Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/)'s story about them. I tried my best with what I had to go off of, and according to her I did an excellent job too.
The characters depicted here were created by and belong to to Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/).

Also, if you interested in seeing [U]her half of this trade, here it is. (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3ctp8b)

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/089/d/0/you_blew_it_ferret_by_servalgirl-d3ctp8b.png In case you couln't tell which one is mine, it's the white ferret with the flower :3. the one ripping his beard out is Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/)'s stoat character Herbie, the one sitting to Herbie's right is her other character Bucktooth, the one to Bucktooth's right is one of Avanii (http://avanii.deviantart.com/)'s old characters(Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/)added it because she needed an extra character there to deliver a certain line of dialogue) and the one with the pole/torch in it's lap is also Avanii (http://avanii.deviantart.com/)'s.

#3 A drawing for a friend's birthday:
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/089/3/1/the_silver_fox_by_ninjaferret22-d3ctl03.png
I'm not the best at canine anatomy, but it coulda turned out alot worse, and i'm
surprised it didn't.
Also, I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a
silver-furred, blue-eyed fox, but nonetheless, it would sure be cool if there was

#4: Pony haters beware
http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/pinkeSFh-1.png?t=1301593957
Pinky Pie means business.

Well, That's all for now and i'll see ya'll next time on the next episode of

Stuff That Resembles Art And Could Possibly Be Considered Art
hosted by ninjaferret22

EDIT: A poll has been added.
The results will determine whether or not I should re-open requests.

And about that poll... do whatever you want to do. It's a free country.

Thanks Outlaw, it means alot. Though i've only seen like, one of your drawings(the drawing you posted as our group's new logo) and i found it pretty impressive (especially considering that I can't draw hands worth a crap!)

Hmmm... it's apparently been over a week, sooo...

New art time!

Kalbrinan:
http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/097/b/4/the_kytorii_hunter_by_ninjaferret22-d3dfif2.png this is a concept for a species that will prey upon the Kytorii (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/art/Species-Developement-Kytorii-193471687?q=gallery%3Aninjaferret22%2F28065045&qo=2) in the little world of mine known as Bantoma (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/gallery/28065045).
For now, this species will temporarily be called Kalbrinan(s) (however I might change that in the future).
it was painted from scratch in Paint Tool Sai.
---

Bantoma concept poster:
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/097/2/3/bantoma_concept_poster_by_ninjaferret22-d3dfge0.png

this is a concept poster for if I ever take Bantoma and make it into an actual series (most likely a comic/graphic novel) with an actual story.(it would probably be a good idea to finish developing the technical aspects of the world first though)

This depicts two Kytorii (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/gallery/28065045#/d376rpj). -A female on top with her paws rested on a male which is flying below her (Bantoma has fairly low gravity, so getting around from 'land-clump-to-land-clump' is fairly easy. Creatures that fly can practically 'float' around).
The appearance of these two might seem a little different from my development sheet; This is because i'm still developing their appearence.
I first painted it on a watercolor canvas that i've had lying around for a pretty long time (about a whole year, actually)
I wanted to save the canvas for when I had a really good idea of what to paint on it (didn't wanna waste it on something that I wasn't gonna be satisfied with!), and then I thought of this.

After being scanned, it was fixed up quite a bit in Paint Tool Sai. (curse the way that scanners show all the nasty little mistakes that you don't normally see by looking at the image in real life!...)
---

If you took the time time to look at these images and read all the text that follows them, then thank you; if you take the time to critique me, or simply tell me what you think, then thank you even more.

Beuatiful drawings, making me want to know more and more about Bantoma. Now I know you may not be the fanciest creator in the cosmos but you do a wodnerful job portraying art for the world in the levels and drawigns shown here. I could most certainly see it working for a graphic novel, just imagining all the beautiful lands to explore in this world, you've got a great idea going for you that can grow into something even bigger. Keep on thinkin that Bantoma thing, me likes.2011-04-12 22:09:00

Today on this potentially exciting episode of

Stuff

That Resembles Art And Could Possibly Be Considered Art

hosted by ninjaferret22

We have an easter special just for you! and with that being said, I have one simple question:

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/108/0/2/who_needs_bunnies__by_ninjaferret22-d3ea6ay.png
bunny-lovers please note:
The caption of the above image is not meant to be taken literally.

Yes, that's right! Ferrets as replacements for easter bunnies! Personally, I think ferrets would be better candidates for hiding eggs than a big fat bunny that nobody has ever even seen before. they are naturals at hiding things, after all, and they're far more intelligent than bunnies due to the fact that they're carnivores. (though on the other hand, they'd likely consume the eggs briefly after hiding them.)

Drawn in real life with a thin sharpie on printing paper, then scanned and touched up in Paint Tool Sai. (I'm out of multimedia and watercolor paper, so printing paper was the only option... )

Happy Easter everybody! And stay tuned, for I have a few finished peices that i've yet to upload, And following the posting of said peices, I will likely re-open requests. The poll results are leaning more toward 'yes' than 'no', so that's encouraging enough for me.

It's been pretty long since I posted any art, so here it goes:

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/120/d/5/zilly_by_ninjaferret22-d3f8gzq.pngThis is a semi-realism, hair-by-hair digital painting of my ferret 'alter-ego', Zilly.( I wanted to draw her in a similar style to this (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/gallery/28064998#/d38k3ly). )
I would've liked to have made this a speedpaint, but it took so much longer(several weeks longer!) than I originally hoped, that It was soon too late.
I dragged it out due to overall lack of motivation; drawing each little hair individually tends to get very boring after awhile, so while working on it I often got sidetracked.

Here's something else that i'm quite less proud of
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/125/3/6/death_of_a_matriarch_by_ninjaferret22-d3fmnx5.png
Some dramatic meerkats drawn with a thin sharpie on printer paper(*needs more actual drawing paper*) and colored pencil for the rose.

And I'd like whoever cares to know that i'm working on a very short(and by short, I mean like 5 seconds ._.) animation using this (http://www.pencil-animation.org/)free program and will post a link to it when and id if I ever manage finish it
Also, i'm re-opening requests tomorrow provided something doesn't get conveniently in the way.

And for everyone(all zero of you!) who was/were even remotely interested in that animation I mentioned earlier:
I must sadly say that i've lost all the data. I'm not sure how, but when I last saved it, it somehow only saved the number of frames I had and not the actual drawings within the frames. I'm pretty upset, but I must realise that it is, after all, a free and partially unfinished program(which means it'll have it's bugs) and I should have seen this coming or at least been emotionally prepared for it long before it happened..
().
I now feel much sad on the inside...

OH MAI GAWD..
I found a version of my animation data that isn't screwed up!!! My hard work has not been lost forever! I'm soo happy! I thought it was gone!

The Meerkat one reminds me of that Meerkat family show that was on Animal Planet.
When the matriarch died.

Very moving.
That's actually the moment I intended it to depict! I just didn't think anyone on this site(or at least, anyone that visits my thread) would have ever seen the show or known anything about it, so I spared myself explaining all of it(it would have been long and with many links).

too bad we dont get to see them, I was looking forward to it
Not quite I was really looking forward to seeing it actually.
I'm glad to see you guys are actually interested in the animation(2 is better than zero ).
It isn't anything too special, just a ferret, and now that it suddenly isn't gone forever, i'm going to show you guys what I've made so far once I upload it to DeviantArt (even though it's horribly messy and short).

WAAAA *head explodes*

well you can always look at some anime if that helps since their always in classrooms
hehe.. that is so true that it's kinda sad.. xD
Thanks for the advice, but I think i'll just use Google images.

Maybe I'll try it out then. Could you please post a link to a place I could download it safely?

Yeah, I noticed that while drawing, but at the point that I did, I was just too sick of working on it to care and hoped nobody would notice xD

Thanks Super i'll be sure to try it out once I figure out how to make each frame of my future animations into GIF files (i don't have a program other than MS paint that can save images as GIFs, and I tried in MS, but it turned the whole image pitch black everytime I saved. D: )

Anyway, speaking of animations, here's my cruddy animation. (http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/138/3/a/animation_test_wip_by_ninjaferret22-d3gnn5t.swf)

Please note that:
1. this was made with a program in which you must hand draw each frame individually.
2. I have no prior knowledge of how to animate what so ever.
3. the animation itself is unfinished.
4. I had no reference.

I'm currently in the process of drawing slightly cleaner lines over the messy, nasty, original ones. After that, i'll add the eyes to each frame and then probably color it (provided that I have any motivation to work on it anymore after all that).

Please tell me what ya think.

Wow! Thanks Ninja! It looks so good! You truly have awesome skills when it comes to art work!
Once again, you're welcome.

And I have a horror story for you all.
It is something that happened to me just this day:

So there I was, drawing deer to get a hold of their anatomy(which failed horribly), when suddenly, it made me think of that part of Portal 2 where GLaDOS rubs it in your face that she was just watching some deer frolic on the surface, so then, on that very same peice of paper ...
-------------------------------------------------this happened
----------------------------------------------------------v------------
----------------------------------------------------------v------------

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Deer.png?t=1306534391

I know it's a sad attempt, but can somebody (that's farmiliar with Portal) please tell me on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard I failed? ( on GLaDOS, not the deer; I already know that I failed the deer on at least a 9.5.!:arg
One of these days i'm going to do a more serious depiction(likely a digital painting) of her in which I will aim for ultimate GLaDOSness.

HOLE. EE. GUAC. A. MOLE. E. O_O

I knew this was gonna be epic, but I'm seriously blown away right now. And I know I've been impressed and surprised by many, MANY things on this site alone (especially 'round these parts)... but good Lord, you've got me caught speechless. I'm just... WOW.

And you did this in one sitting? WOW. I can't even do this in a week!

Kudos to you, partner!! Makes me feel happy 'bout bein' an outlaw again...
I'm glad you're happy with it, Jack!

Sooo... Now that Outlaw's request is done, does that mean there is a slot free?

If so:

That's a pretty elaborate costume ya got der..

Ok, soo.. requests are technically closed(>.>), but I suppose I could add it to the pending list when they're open again ( provided that you remind me when the time comes around; I'm quite forgetful sometimes).

Speaking of the pending list, here's a status update:

Status of Pending requests:
1. DominationMags: not yet started
2. ShamgarBlade: Sketched
3.Wait wtf: not yet started
4.Outlaw-jack: Finished
5.Sackgirlsrule: Finished

Oh, and here's Chell as a meerkat:

Well sorry, but the answer is yes.
There's quite a bit of planning out to do because there are 4 sackpeople with the addition of a fairly complex background. It will be big, and it will take awhile, but you will hopefully not be disappointed by the finished product.

Well, I only managed to draw the braces and not the actual boot part, and even that was a kinda hard.

As most dedicated gamers know, It's that time of year again......
Time for The Gamers' Super Bowl, because as far as i'm concerned, that's exactly what E3 is!

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/159/4/a/the_gamer__s__super_bowl_by_ninjaferret22-d3icwol.png
I drew this in a hurry right before Gametrailers.com started their first day of live coverage of the Sony and Microsoft press conferences(that's why it's kinda sloppy) right before watching it all day with my family until 9:00 pm.
There were alot of exiting announcements and footage of games that i've been anticipating such as Halo 4, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (*fangasm*) , and Battlefield 3 as well as many other games that I had no previous interest in until seeing footage of them, like Prey 2, and Journey.

this depicts my 'alter-ego' thing, Zilly, whom I am still sorta developing a look for.
I've decided to give her visible pupils, rather than making her eyes nothing more than little black dots like real ferrets appear to have. I've found It's easier to show her emotions and whatnot that way.

The actual gates of E3 opened only yesterday, and Gamespot.com is having live floor coverage (http://e3.gamespot.com/live-cam-tour/live-cam-day-2/?tag=gumballs%3Bimg%3B2) for all who are interested.

And sorry for the double-post.

I agree on the pupil, it humanizes the eyes, and there's no other animal with more expressive eyes than humans.
EDIT : And yes, E3 is my Super Bowl. I only wish I could have an E3 party.

Me and my family have a sort of E3 party every year.
I make little flags and everything.. xD

On a seperate note: i've gone and made a comic..

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/161/5/2/the_answer_by_ninjaferret22-d3ijf9i.png
This is my first actual comic ever(not counting a few short messy ones I did awhile back), and I therefore have little previous experience with them.
I must say, making comics is just incredibly fun in every way, and If I happen get any more ideas, i'll be drawing more from now on.

I based it off of something that actually happened to me the other day. As a matter of fact, as soon as it happened, I immediately grabbed a peice of scrap paper and wrote down the comic's script. xD

as many of you know, I don't actually draw me( I am, in fact, human) to represent me in my art, I draw my ferret 'alter-ego', Zilly, as is apparent here.
I simply can't draw humans yet, but i'm going to try to start learning..... one of these days...

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/shamgar-1.png

I sketched the backround, and a few days after, played his level 'Shamgar's Hideout", which was surprisingly similar to look of the sketch, and it gave me a fair bit of motivation to finish.
My cruddy perspective is so very cruddy >.>..

Now that i'm not tired anymore and my brain is working relatively properly, i've looked over the request and seen alot that could be improved- the lighting being one of them:http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/shamgar-2.png
It was waaay to grey-ish and depressing before, So I fixed that, touched up the shading, as well as adding a bit more detail to everything else.
I wanted it to seem a little warmer and more lively, so I hope I've achieved that.

It's almost the birthday of a friend of mine from Deviantart.com(servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/)), so I made this drawing of her character, Bucktooth the weasel, as a baby(or kit) with his siblings whom I made up for the sake of the scene.
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/164/7/2/little_weasels_by_ninjaferret22-d3iuer5.png
To the left is Bucktooth, and to the right, his siblings staring in wonderment at the strange face he's making. I always imagined that if he was part of a litter, he'd be the odd one of the bunch.
i'm really not sure if he is supposed to have had any siblings when he was little, and if so, how many, but in reality weasels have litters, so that's how I decided to portray it.

I painted this with watercolors and greatly improved it with paint tool sai after scanning.
One of the big mistakes I had to fix is that I gave Bucktooth a black tip at the end of his tail, which is a characteristic of stoats (http://www.arkive.org/stoat/mustela-erminea/) rather than weasels (http://www.arkive.org/weasel/mustela-nivalis/), and an even bigger mistake in a gift for sombody as knowledgeable about members of the weasel family as Servalgirl!
If I hadn't looked for pictures of weasels real quick to make sure I'd gotten everything right, I would've uploaded it that way, which would've prabably ruined it... *faints*

on another note, I'm sorry if it seems like i'm putting off doing requests by drawing stuff in between, because i'm not- to me, having pending requests feels like having a bunch of people waiting in line in front of you expecting you to give them something cool because you promised it to them, and doing un-expected art in between helps me keep a certain flow and freshness(also known as creative motivation) going, and also keeps me from going insane!...
Unless i'm already insane, in which case I suppose it hasn't.

Thanks
Though looking back on "Inside a Sackboy", I can't help but think that I could probably draw the same exact thing so much better now.
I absolutely hate looking back at old artworks because I realise how terrible they are. In my mind I think things like "how the fudge did I ever think that looked good?" or "I can't believe I allowed that disgusting abomination to see the light of day." , and it honestly makes me want to draw them all over again (which I might in fact do someday). It's a sort of feeling of shame that many -if not all- artists get one time or another, but it also helps us realise how much we've improved, and in turn inspires us to keep moving forward.

And speaking of things that I will look back on one day and most likely regret showing anyone, looky what I made:

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Vykalanora800.png

So I was going to make a sad attempt at drawing a human, and I drew the circle/oval foundation for the face, but then I gave it a beak, and made the head shaped weird, and then I began to make the body, and I made the arms as wings, and covered it with feathers, and then I blacked out and woke up with my pants on my head.
True story.
I often start to draw one thing, and then make it into something completely different.

If you think it's reminescent of an owl with sharp teeth and fangs, then great- that's pretty much what I was going for!
The person that has a rope tied around his wrist that's being carried by the creature in the top-right sketch is not the creature's lunch, just to be clear; It's actually saving him from..something. The pose it has in that particular sketch kinda bothers me for some reason, though. It looks a little.. stiff.

I might do something with this, but for now, it will remain an idea.

It was sketched with a pencil, inked with a pen, and colored with watercolors... I love watercolors. :arg:

It's pretty late now, so tomorrow I will try to finish DominationMags' request.

I seriously need to stop trying to predict when i'm going to finish a request, because, well, I'm usually wrong, and this is no exception. I've been kind of busy as of late.

I apologise for saying i'd finish it earlier than I actually did.
http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/DOMI.png
If I did as bad a job at posing him in a way that shows what he's trying to do as I think I did, then I must explain.
When you place two portals on the ground in Portal, and drop an object(i.e. the weighted and dearly beloved companion cube <3)into one of them, it will bob up and down(provided that it' relatively centered) until thrown off balance. I' not sure how this mechanic would work with a staff, but I assume it's pretty much the same.
I drew him attempting to grab it after droping it in. I sort of just wanted to incorperate his staff into the picture somehow without him actually holding it (since he's holding the portal gun and all), but sadly I think i've chosen a way that makes little sense.

I hope you like it, Mags!

To be perfectly honest, that was just about the last thing on my mind while drawing this.
The floor looked like that in the refence, so that's what I drew it like.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Watercolor/iguanas.png?t=1310007678
..They just are.

One day I asked my brother to tell me to draw a random animal(I'm trying to diversify my skills for the sake of taking comissions one day), and he requested me to draw an Iguana with a tophat, so I did. :arg:
It took me awhile to get a flow going with the scales, and the text was a quick, last-minute decision, so that's why it's kinda sloppy.

I sketched it with a grey colored pencil, then simultaniously colored it with watercolor pencils and inked with a ballpoint pen on regular Strathmore drawing paper( which I do NOT recommend using with watercolors at all; If you have the choice, get actual watercolor paper that is mde for use with watercolors. I have learned this lesson the hard way. )

--
I like to call this next one 'Crazy Mystic Hippie Meerkat Playing an Unnamed Instrument In the Moonlight with a Shiney Metallic Frame.'

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Watercolor/Mystic.png?t=1310007017
It's a pretty deep title, I know, but please refrain from getting teary-eyed.

It was made with a combination of watercolors(watercolor pencils and brush) and normal colored pencils for some fur and frame detail.

Despite the fact that Intended for her to only be semi-realistic, I sorta feel that I screwed up with the proportions on the meerkat; the head should probably be a little bit bigger.

--

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Watercolor/Leader.png?t=1310007697
I was just going to practice drawing meerkats a bit, and it somehow turned into a serious illustration.
It depicts a family of meerkats being lead by their their wise and experienced matriarch(the red-scarfed one) through a hostile, unknown wasteland. They will follow her faithfully through the perilous trials ahead.

Much like the meerkat previous painting, they are meant to be drawn only in a semi-realistic style. I love it because It's more expressive than true realism, but not too exaggerated or crazy as too be considered cartoonism or complete caricature, and is the major direction i'm going with most of my animal art.
as far as i'm concerned, It's just overall more pleasing to look at.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/Watercolor/DRAGIN.png?t=1310007017.
This one is actually pretty old in relation to all the previous pictures, but I haven't posted it yet, so yeah..
It's an abstract-ish dragon and I painted it with only one color of watercolor pencil
(black).
The day I drew it all I really wanted to do was experiment with scratchy and splattery brush techniques. I'm not really all too crazy about it.
--
Oh, and while we're on the topic of art(I think this is an art thread..?), I'd like to announce that me and my brother have started a project on DeviantArt.com (titled 'Mission: Impossibly Possible&apos to promote and support relatively unknown and talented artists by featuring them and providing them with constructive feedback on a few of their works. Our first edition of features can be found here (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/journal/41625380/#comments).
The features we have are currently weekly, but due to time issues it may change to once every two weeks instead.

If you have an account on Deviantart.com, please help spread the word of the project- Every little bit of promotion helps.

I'm glad you think so, though if I were to try to sell them, where would I do it?
a 14-year-old girl sitting in a stand on the side of a road with a sharpie-drawn sign that says "art for sale" is not very appealing to potential customers and probably not legal without a permit or something. and nobody buys home-made art on eBay that i'm aware of. D:

I've made a few of my paintings available as prints on Deviantart, but nobody has purchased one yet.
In order for prints to sell there,it seems you have to either draw/paint things that are popular and overrated (such as anime, wolves, anthro wolves, fanart, wolves with wings, cats with wings, magical canines/felines with crazy and unnatural colors also with wings, food with "cute" eyes and mouths, various perverted things i'd rather not describe, ect.), Or you just have to be popular as a person there (how you achieve this without drawing popular things eludes me) , be very good at what you do, and have a consistent style (which I don't think I do yet).

I've been planning on taking comissions(paid requests) on Deviantart once i'm confident with my abilities and with the amount of people there that like my art and even know I exist.
All in all, I think I need more practice- the range of things that I know how to draw well is too miniscule at the moment :/.

You've become one of my favourite artists... I mean some of those pictures I think would warrant their own section in a gallery. It's an incredible art style you've got there, and I actually consider it an honour you drew something for me.

..

.. :3
:o....
Thanks
And they are in a gallery:
In my gallery on Deviantart (http://ninjaferret22.deviantart.com/gallery/)! :arg:

Also, ninjaferret, I think you drew the iguanas are cool pic a little wrong. Shouldn't he be in a fez and bowtie?
Hmmm, well, my brother asked for a tophat on it, so I blame him.

all my meaningless babble aside, here's my half of a trade with somebody from Deviantart:

http://th05.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2011/204/6/5/request__ladaniel_by_ninjaferret22-d41dqfk.png
The trade is with a deviant by the name of Ladaniel (http://ladaniel.deviantart.com/). It's a painting her Golden eagle (http://www.arkive.org/golden-eagle/aquila-chrysaetos/image-A10282.html) character, Sora, armored up and ready for battle(or whatever it is that armored Golden eagles do).

I never draw birds or landscapes and i've never really drawn armor at all before, so this was definetely good practice for me!

OMG! It was a while since I checked this thread, and I must say that you've improved in an impressive way!
Awesome works!
Love both the style, the mood and the technique, everything is very personal.
Cool!

I dont know anything about selling art on the internet but if you live in or near a city it shouldnt be too hard to find a gallery or just somewhere to display them.

Heck, I live in a swamp but theres a library a little bit away from where I live that puts any art up on display(as long as its not overly adult in content) and thats good enough for me

You definately have talent.
Keep making stuff in your style, dont change for popularity.

Commissions are frustrating, its not what you want to make, its what someone else wants and you dont know if its right or not until you show it to them.
You should focus on making art for yourself, more self improvement that way, its fun, and you dont have anyone to answer to so as long as its good to you thats all that matters.

Due to the event of their site's birthday, the staff over at DeviantART are holding several contests this week, one of which i'm entering.
I didn't win the last DA contest I entered, and it's unlikely i'll win this one either (there's never shortage of super-talented, already-highly-established artists there that are willing to enter a contest that offers prizes that they don't really even need to enter a contest to get in the first place because they're famous and have drawn like a million comissions for people.).

So anywaay, here's my entry for one of the contests:

http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/231/8/3/the_celestial_by_ninjaferret22-d46ufdd.png

The following quote will hopefully explain the contest objective well enough so that I don't have do it in my own words :arg:

We've given you a random combination of lines in the downloadable pack below. Your challenge is to look at the drawing creatively and find an object or scene within the randomness to bring a whole new meaning to the piece. Use these few lines to bring this skribble to life!
What do you see when you look at this skribble?( http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/skribble-contest-assets.jpg?t=1313811450) Maybe you see two unicorns engaged in an epic battle of survival. Perhaps you see a desert oasis, filled with palm trees and delicious drinks. Or could it be that this is the lost underwater kingdom of Atlantis? However you're inspired, we want to see it!
You can do a lot with this skribble. You can print it out and use traditional methods to craft your entry. You can digitally recreate it into a masterpiece. Your creation is completely up to you!

Keep in mind...
-The skribbled lines must appear in your entry exactly as they appear in the download. You may not move or alter these lines in relation to each other.
-The original lines must be clearly visible. No covering up or deleting these lines! You may trace them, but we must be able to easily see the original lines in your work.

-You may rotate the set of lines as a set of lines in any direction you’d like within your entry.

Prizes

First place:

-Apple iPad2 (16GB)
-Wacom Intuos4 Medium Tablet
-8,000 deviantART Points
-a deviantWEAR hoodie of winner's choice*
-and a one year Premium Membership to deviantART.
Second place:
-Apple iPad2 (16GB)
-Wacom Bamboo Pen+Touch Tablet
-4,000 deviantART Points
-a deviantWEAR T-shirt of winner's choice*
-and a 6-month Premium Membership to deviantART.
Third place:
-Apple iPad2 (16GB)
-Wacom Bamboo Pen+Touch Tablet
-1,200 deviantART Points
-a deviantWEAR T-shirt of winner's choice*
-and a 3-month Premium Membership to deviantART

Looking over all those rules again, I'm now almost certain that losing is in my near future. ._.

Oh well, at least I can say I tried!

Yes, i'm aware of that and I sincerely apologise.
I've been busy with wrapping up schoolwork and have been using my free time to do other things, not to mention that the size of you request sort of intimidates me every time I think about it. Probably has something to do with my fear that my sackperson-drawing skills might have gotten a bit rusty since I haven't been practicing lately.. If you'd rather have it sooner, then I'll try to sketch it today or tomorrow, but it might end up staying in the form a sketch or a sloppy colored sketch because I honestly don't think I have the patience currently to color four sackpeople and a whole classroom consistently or cleanly-
I hope that's ok with you. :/

In other news

here's new art

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/241/f/0/the_blues_by_ninjaferret22-d48acvb.png
Some quick watercolor ferret sketches.
I never really hear of people sketching with paint, but I did it anyway(though for two of them, I drew some quick little outlines with a gray pencil before quickly painting over it.). I have actually done it before, but not recently.

It's kinda liberating, but also kind of upsetting because i'm more content with this than alot of drawings that I actually put thought or planning into. >.>

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/243/5/c/the_malayan__speedpaint_by_ninjaferret22-d48fo1s.png
A semi-realism speedpaint of a beautiful and rare species of weasel that I've just recently(within the last few days) known the existence of. ( thanks to a friend of mine on deviantart named Servalgirl (http://servalgirl.deviantart.com/) and her lovely obsession with mustelids of all kinds.( I would never have known about this species, or drawn it, if it weren't for her.)
It is now one of my favorite weasel species, second only to the Altai( A.K.A mountain) weasel (http://www.arkive.org/altai-weasel/mustela-altaica/image-G62736.html).
--
I've realised that adding a ridiculous amount of detail(like drawing each tiny hair individually) to a painting is not neccessary to make it look pleasing; in some cases it can even just be a waste of time.

I would've added an actual background, but I had not the time nor the patience to do so. I might draw one for it someday, but for now it shall remain in a state of trippy randomness.
--
Time elapsed: several hours, though I didn't really keep track; it was 2 to 3 at most.

Well, I didn't finish this as quickly as I had hoped but..
http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/dgg.png WaitWTF's is finally done!
I find it funny how when I try to draw clean lines over a sketch, that it just ends up looking like another, slightly cleaner sketch.
I chose not to color it because I thought coloring it would be tiresome, but making it the way I made it turned out to be equally difficult. I don't even know why, really.

Another issue I had was that I almost felt like I had forgotten how I used to draw sackpeople hands, which is likely an indication I need to start practicing again.. D:

Oh well,
enough complianing about my messiness and inconsistency, because I have another new art thingy! http://a.deviantart.net/avatars/h/u/hurrdurrplz.png?1 (http://hurrdurrplz.deviantart.com/)...

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z341/ninjaferret22/LINNY.png
It's a semi-realism depiction of some sort of Linsang (http://www.arkive.org/banded-linsang/prionodon-linsang/image-G110826.html)-Genet (http://www.arkive.org/common-genet/genetta-genetta/)hybrid that I made up accidentally(I had two unlabled refernce photos that turned out to be two different species.) Made with watercolors on cardboard( a $0 substitute for watercolor paper!)

Though Linsangs and Genets may seem like nothing more than distorted felines, they are not.
Though they are in fact on the feline side of the gene pool, they actually belong to their own family: Viverridae (http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Viverridae.html).

I've been experimenting with using alternative colors to shade lately, instead of just using black and mixing it with other colors, because I learned recently from a very experienced watercolorist on DeviantArt that black is generally icky and makes the image look flat and lifeless.

I don't believe that black should never be used though, I just think that it's only appropriate to be used for shading with certain styles.
--
On another note, finishing my last request for this batch didn't feel as liberating as I thought it would(probably since I didn't enjoy drawing it very much due to the fact that I confused myelf with the method of shading that I went with) , which is kind of disappointing because I was looking forward to not having anybody waiting on me anymore.

I think i'm going to do what Zim does(or did; i'm not sure if she does it anymore, or did it more than once for that matter) and take paid requests while the free ones are closed.
I don't think anyone would want a drawing/painting from me enough to pay me for it though... xD

I'm sure Zim thought that too when she had the idea.

So anyways, what we got there? A school of sackpersons and a naavi hybrid genet?
