Totally agree. I think some people are just jealous and it's an easy thing to moan about.

You don't believe women should be equal to men? How odd. That is what feminism means you know.

That may be what feminism MEANS, but a there are a lot of women in the world that seem to think that it makes them BETTER than men. I am not one of those women. lol. That's all I was saying. I believe all people are equal and I CERTAINLY am not going to play the female card to try to get sympathy that I wasn't there. That isn't my style.

I do think that everyone needs to stop being upset about the whole "no females" thing, though. It certainly wasn't a deliberate move on Media Molecule's part. The fact is that 15 people were chosen on skill level and sight-unseen. Personally, I'm more upset that my skill level is considered sub-par above than the fact that there were no women. hah hah. I think we can agree that, regardless of the fact that there are no women, that the people that WERE included deserved to be there, right? Because they are also good creators. It's not like they picked any creators who had two levels with sponges, dark matter, cheetahs and no exit gate

I think it's a gosh-darned shame that people like MrsSpookyBuz, Morgana and Kiminski were not included in this, however, what happened has happened and there's no use dwelling on it. There were a ton of MALE creators that are awesome that also couldn't be included... so... yeah. I sound like a broken record, but this is a thread to celebrate the awesomeness of lbp2. These lucky souls got to see it, so let's live vicariously through them for now, okay? ^_^

You're right. Just like you, they're both awesomely talented and popular creators who shouldn't be ignored. All the guys who did get invited are also great talents who shouldn't be ignored though, and as Spaff pointed out there were only limited places to go around. They probably had a bigger list of people they wanted but could only select a handful of those. I feel really bad for you Morgana because I'd like nothing more than to see your contribution to the game given the recognition it deserves from Mm, but I can totally respect Spaff's explanation too, and in retrospect I'm quite sure it had nothing to do with gender, race, etc. I suspect they may hold a similar event at some point in the future though, and my money is on you getting an invite. Hope you like flying!

Um, doing what? You mean stop trying to inject a little humour into the thread to alleviate the bad atmosphere my original post re: "nice boys club" seemed to provoke? Okay, sure...if you say so. Let's get back to bickering and resentment.

Yea I know it was limited and I don't want anyone thinking that I think the guys didn't deserve to go - they absolutely did and did a great job representing LBPC I also don't think MM did anything "wrong" nor intentional. It was just unfortunate.

I think one of us is missing something here and I'm honestly not sure if it's me or you. As far as I can see there's quite a few post in this thread that have implied quite the opposite of what you're suggesting. *dons moderator cap for serious post*

roux, I'm sorry but there is no homophobia here. Sure, we're making jokes about sexuality in general, but that could work both ways. I've actually had similar conversations with homosexual friends regarding them and members of the opposite sex. So what, am I heterophobic as well now? No. Because there is no implication that there is anything wrong with having a specific sexual orientation here, there is no negative attitude and in honesty, if any of us were homophobic, then this conversation wouldn't be able to happen in such a light-hearted manner. It's not funny because we think there is something wrong with being homosexual, it's funny simply because that happens to not be our orientation. TBH, the fact that large groups of hetrosexual men (who don't really know each other that well) can talk so openly about homosexuality is a great thing. It means that as a whole society is no longer so hung up on the whole thing and homosexuality is less stygmatised.

Also, please refer to the whole make-over / sleepover / pillow fight in pyjamas part of the conversation (and quite a few other parts of this) which have nothing to do with homosexuality, but are essentially based around the same style of humour - it's funny because that's just not something we would do.

Now, I'm sorry if you don't "get" this, but the idea that the people here are homophobic or that in any way we are promoting any negative attitudes towards homosexuals, is honestly absurd.

Guys, it's the stuff like 'questionable sexual orientation' that's tiresome. Statements like that really do imply that there's something wrong with being queer. I know it's largely unconscious or unthinking, you're not doing it on purpose to make the queer members of the forum feel bad. Just think a little more before making comments like that, is what I'm saying.2010-06-28 15:40:00

roux, there is nothing wrong with being of a different orientation and I don't think that anyone on this forum thinks that there's anything wrong with it. The boys around here joke about that, but they know that it is no laughing matter. I'm sure no one at lbpcentral wants to discriminate. Jack was making "women belong in the kitchen" jokes with me a little while ago, but I was not even slightly offended by that. I thought it was hilarious. And I'm a woman. LOL.

I do understand that it makes you uncomfortable. But, don't think of the posts here as a blatant attack, because I do not think they are intended that way.

I commented that it seemed an unfortunate co-incidence that the room was full of "white men of questionable sexual orientation". Is that not true? Do you actually know the sexuality of each person there? No? Well then, it remains in question does it not? My point was that common prejudices such as race, gender and sexuality were highly unlikely to have been a factor in the selection process, not that homosexual men suck balls. How do you know I'm not queer myself? Well, although rtm's Jesus sandals are a big turn on, I'm not that way inclined...but I could be. You just don't know.

Jeez...

Come on man. It's over and done and it really shouldn't matter too much. It's just an online forum dedicated to a video game for gosh sakes! You shouldn't let stuff like that bother you. I'm not trying to fuel any fire, but it's really not that hard to forget about a little post that was intended as a joke. If that post was going to change the way you live your life, then I would understand your thinking, but that's not happening.

What I'm trying to say is just laugh, the post isn't significant at all and really, truly is... funny. Don't take it to heart and stop dragging it on. Just forget about it. The post is what? Just a skidmark on the underpants of society!

Again...how do you know? Perhaps I or anyone else cracking jokes here has suffered prejudice from others all our lives. Almost all of my mum's side of the family were killed in Nazi concentration camps because they were Jewish, yet I still laugh at Cartman's anti-semitic jokes in South Park. My kids who are Indian have been called paki in the street, yet they still laugh at jokes that take the mick out of Indian culture when they're made in a friendly, nudge in the ribs kind of manner. I even remember my wife Sunita commenting "bloody Indians" when some pushy vendor wouldn't leave us alone at the market. There's a big distinction between non-PC humour and genuine vitriolic hatred. Besides, nobody has actually made homophobic comments here anyhow. That's just your distorted perception of things.

Anyhow, don't quit the forums...that's way too knee-jerk. Just lighten up and don't look for deeper meaning in playful ribbing and banter between a bunch of guys.

Actually, roux, I have. I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 20 years old, and you wouldn't believe what the people in school called me. It was really quite awful. When people weren't trying to beat me up, they were calling me the "l" word. So let's just say that I can empathize with the name calling thing at least. We're not trying to drive you away. Don't go because of something like this. Honestly, this forum is the most tame and understanding forum that I've ever been to.

Please lighten up. We, as a community, may have gotten off on the wrong foot with you, but you have to understand that no one is discriminating against you or anyone else.

Also, this seems like a discussion that is best suited for Private Messages. Anyone have any more silly photos of the Game Jam? Any stories? That's what this thread is all about, afterall.

Wex was thanked more for the genius comedy timing rather than the actual video

Hey I didn't ask for any rep. I just thought it was appropriate timing to bring that video back into the mix.

I shall be fine, but I fear my lifetime has been shortened due to the shortage of rep. 2010-06-29 17:47:00

Just wondering, is the song from the community game jam trailer in the game? Or can you not say?
P.S: Sorry for bump!

Since the music is in beat with the words, I highly doubt it.

Hey guys - just noticed that in the current Gameinformer Mag they have a list of top 50 games at E3. #10 is LBP2 and they used photos from your levels from the jam. Grant's actually appears twice in the mag - in the list article and earlier in the magazine for an article on the Move controller. Congrats!

Oh and you guys (comph) might be interested to know their #1 pick was Portal 2 and it has a really nice write up and photo spread. Enjoy!

LBP2 should've at least been #2 then... 2010-07-16 20:07:00

#1 Portal 2
#2 Dead Space 2
#3 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
#4 Infamous 2
#5 Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
#6 Bullterstorm
#7 Gears of War 3
#8 Mortal Kombat
#9 Halo: Reach
#10 LittleBigPlanet 2

They've mistaken Grant's level as a RTS level, is it? I thought it was a shooter.

Really? I was under the impression that every level created during the Jam was a shoot-em-up. What I'm not certain about is whether this fixation with destruction is inherent, or merely the by-product of sleep deprivation.

Well, I think I can spot just a little difference between a LBP2 shoot-em-up and a Modern Warfare 2 deathmatch... 2010-07-17 15:42:00

Unno where else to ask this...

But for Sackbots and DCS, how exactly do you set them up to be controlled? I was thinking you connect the Left analog stick to the sackbot to obtain all the functions of the basic sackbot, and then can tweak the sackbot to different settings... is that how it works? D:

Just as a little friendly reminder, it makes it so much easier on the Mods and Admins if you do not bump a thread. in case you don't know, a bump is a post that is either irrelevent or a post in a older topic/thread. Thanks, and welcome to LittleBIGPlanet Central!
