Good point.
Speaking of flying things, I think that the flying level of my Spyro series will be updated with a vehicle when I move the series to LBP2. I also hope to make use of the 'stringing together levels' part.

OK, so I just picked up EDGE magazine, which also features LBP2.
There is tonnes of information and at least 3 new screenshots in it. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner. :/
Maybe someone with one can pick it up and scan it for others

-Grappling Hook

A powerup in the mould of LBP's MGS DLC, the grappling hook is thrown out with R1 and attatches to any grabbable [so sponge etc] surface until you let go in the same way a grab would usually work. You can reel it in and out by pressing up and down on the stick, and also swing, your tether flexing with a satisfying 'boing'.
- There are BOUNCE PADS
- A HUUUUUGE visual upgrade ^_^
- Level Linking 'Badges'

Place the new level-linking 'badge' in your level and you can seamlessly transport players to another. Useful for building multi-level games as well as for collector types to create level hubs for great levels that they've found

I guess our profiles in LBP1 will be usable in LBP2 (collected materials, stickers, decorations, etc...) This would be useless to transfer our levels from LBP1 to LBP2, but without being able to use what we used to make those levels (materials, etc...)

Well the DLC save file you have in your GAME DATA FOLDER is basically a key, so all they would need to do is include said DLC DATA on the actual disc. and/or it'll just also use your LBP1 save file.

The game would effectively use that file to tell what DLC you already own and then unlock that DLC in the popit ready for you to use.

I am really hoping stickers and that will transfer over, even from the themes. I can understand theme objects not coming, nor do I want them but the music, stickers, decorations and materials I really want to cross over. That leads to one more thought, are they going to improve popit browsing? If those things do cross over there will be a megatonne of stickers!

The fur to me looks like a decoration stuck on.

I'd better start planning my massive free-roaming Hogwarts level then! Just think - a huge castle split into multiple levels, seamlessly linked together, with NPC's all over the place to ineractive and maybe even a direct control seat Buckbeak that you'll be able to fly around. It'll be awesome!!!

-You can make Sackbots harmful (electrify, fire etc)
-You can grapple sackbots
-Microchips work like so: Once you place them, it projects a space in which you can build logic etc. When you are done it minimizes the logic and store it inside one little microchip
-Colour filters for certain areas, eg x-ray
-Instead of sliders in lighting and sound menus, they have percentages
-It IS possible to record something and apply it to a sackbot
-If you program a sackbot to follow you, and then jump into a vehicle, the sackbot will catch up and jump in with you.
-You can use direct control seats with sackbots
-Cutscene cameras are now white... (Seen in a screenshot)
-You can program sackbots to hang off things
-New hazard: Laser
-Direct control does control momentum, so no unwanted shooting up into the air
-Photos on lbp.me will be the oens posted on the level itself
-Usernames on lbp.me will be PSN names
-New torch/flashlight lighting object (Just looks like one, sackboy cannot actually hold it)
-You can place decorations and stickers on your planet
-There will be a facebook-style 'stream' (possibly lbp.me) which will show highscores, hearted levels etc for each player
-So far it is 4GB extra content (will get bigger).. Meaning it is too big for a patch
-If they were to make it as DLC it would be VERY expensive DLC. (Last 2 points for all those 'Is LBP2 necessary'-ers)
-There are cool Futurama-esque green clear tubes which suck Sackboy through them

And I think that's all the new info from EDGE. As I said before, I don't have a scanner so I can't show you all the awesome new screenshots but if someone has a scanner and buys EDGE, they could possibly do it.....?

This all sounds really awesome plasma. I think we know what they did with those people from Sackbook...

And yes, I'm loving level-linking. It opens up so many possibilities...

Microchips sound brilliant. I don't think logic is gone like everyone is saying, it just seems to be condensed.

Anyway, did they say anything about increasing the level cap? It would suck if people with 20 levels out would have to delete some.

It would be nice to sticker different 'zones' on your planet depending on each level series! E.g. Morgana25 could have jewels and multicoloured stckers in one area for the Chroma Stone Chronicles, and dragon stickers and teeth decorations for Dragons of Myth! You gettin' me? ^_^

Yeah! It sounds really cool. So, like where there is a level with snowy mountains, put some snow stickers down. Really awesome stuff. Can't wait until tommorow!

Yeah I'm just looking at the sccreenshots now to see if I can spot a Magic Mouth. They might look different though.. :/

EDIT: There is an AWESOME character (not a Sackbo or Sackbot, a story character) made of rolled up balls of newspaper. It looks AMAZING. Still looking for magic mouths though....

EDIT: OMGOMGOMG UPDATE! Just been looking at screenshots and I've seen a number of different looking planets.
There is:
A sepia style one with a sheet (story mode icon) of an old man with a beard. Also has tree trunks? and a wax seal on it - Reneissance level?

A blue one tht looks like one of those old scanners with a sheet of what looks like a propaganda poster on it, has little lights on it. -Cold war?

A green vegetated one with flower decorations on it. Sheet is a strawberry- NAture level?

By the looks of things each different time period has a different 'planet'.. :/

I made a petition/suggestion for pretty much exactly what Sackbots are awhile back, I'm pumped to see them in action.

This sounds insanse, like programming a real game without any actual programming. I'm just dying to see some footage now...

By the looks of things each different time period has a different 'planet'.. :/


- Techno Renaissance: Whimsical alternative take of the Renaissance period. Leonardo da Vinci-like character to guide him through a technology-based twist level

- Steam & Cake: Steampunk-style level based on a ****ed-up tea and cake party

- Neon Propaganda: Cold-war era posters line a factory environment where Sackboy is liberating oppressed workers. There is a grim nature to the level that is totally opposed to the neon lights and signs.

- Fluffy High-Tech: Various high-end technology equipments like video walls are mixed with bunnies and fluffy sheep. It is a cold, futuristic environment populated by adorable creatures

- Designer Organic: Eco-architecture comes together around a designed and controlled version of nature. Described as "art noveau". The closest to nature Sackboy gets in this game. Elaborate designs comprised of plants.

- Hand-Made Arcade: A super-tribute level to tons of arcade classics. Embraces the hand-made art from the first game. Pixels made of cardboard and wood.

We can make cylinders in LBP1, but not that way, not vertical. I guess it's an object made by Mm, but I hope we'll be able to make this kind of shape.

-Microchips work like so: Once you place them, it projects a space in which you can build logic etc. When you are done it minimizes the logic and store it inside one little microchip

My thoughts exactly, so bounce pads can be used by everything. As an example, if sackboy pushed a metal block of a ledge, and the block fell on the pad, the pad would bend inwards and shoot the piece of metal up at a slightly faster speed than it was going on the way down.

I'm not sure, but it could be a bouncy material, that moves inward slightly when something falls on it and you can bounce on it too. Dunno though.

The bouncers are a nice add even because they're just tools, so they will be more thermo riendly than a self made bouncer.

I also thinks that all the things we gathered in here are less than 60% o the new things we will have.
And I may also add that with 3,36 mil copies sold and the new contract with Sony, MM will have a budget that we won't ever imagine and that is at least 5 times the budget they had for LBP, then just add the help from the other Sony studios tech wise.

I even hope that Sony will market the game better with every partnership possible.
As I said almost a year ago, dealing with some manga publishers will boost the sales in Japan, and having more themed DLCs like Assassin's Creed one will gather other audience.
I don't know how much I would pay for a Devil May Cry or a Darksiders costume.
I think that Sony didn't push too much on this side, since we're still waiting for the Sephiroth and Marvel DLCs.

Yeah, it totally got a graphical overhaul. It looks 3x better than the first one did. I like the new glossy texture of the images. New tools, new graphics, same charm and premise. It's everthing I dreamed of!

I think Mm did grant my wish...

Great to hear a lot of new features in LBP2. The grappling hook, robot, and a lot of new logical stuff looked like it has a lot of expansions that could really boost the fun of LBP franchise. The coolest feature is that you can really make different Genres. Glad to hear that downloadable contents from the first LBP can be transferred too but will the MGS, History, and Monster pack be in LBP2? The reason I asked is because I bought the "Game of the Year" edition version of LBP which came with the contents I mentioned and I don't have to buy those contents. Can't wait to see LBP2 in E3 just to see how it can really do. Looking forward to buy it when it arrives.2010-05-09 17:57:00

What's the general consensus with LB1 levels being editable using the LBP2 engine? Part of me thinks its probably a good idea to be able to access them, but not editable, a fresh slate if you will. The other part of me sees Sackbots,flying machines and laserguns and can't help get excited at the thought of having STORMTROOPERS WITH A.I.!!!!

- I hope Sackbots are customisable like Sackboy. Adding deco on them would be painfull for nothing.

- Grappling lasers, yay!

- Media Molecule still didn't get out to make truly useful stickers and REALLY encourage creativity. We need basic shapes and colors, canvas, transparency, etc. Now this aspect of the game will not be improved at all.

@ RangerZero; You can upload your sackbot with a custom costume you have made and saved, so they can look just like you! =D

And grappling lasers are actually grappling arm attachments that fire wires that look like lasers. =)

I think you can change sackbots proportions, the scan showing the fairy bots shows that one of them has a bigger head compared to its body.

From what I understand, that is what the default Sackbot looks like. Only if you give it a costume will it look like a sackperson.

Anywho, I can see Sackbots causing a lot of "You don't have this DLC" messages when you enter a level that gives them away as prizes. Theres hundreds of DLC costumes now after all...

Perhaps sackbots will enable us to take more detailed photos of our sackpeople's homemade costumes? As in, the sackbot could be scaled up, and a picture could be taken of a specific spot on the sackbot. You can even make the sackbot turn around!

I'm betting you can, Inc. I mean, what could they be useful for if they couldnt do those? They would be heavily limited.
Besides, assuming that now you can make your own cutscenes, chances are that you are gonna need some kind of actors. And Sackbots are my bet for that. So, if you can make lil' movie with them, it seems logic that you have quite some control over them, so at least you can make them jump when you want them to and walk wherever you want. I also believe they'll be able to perform an amazing plane switch!

And regarding your question about if they can be dangerous to sackpeople, wasnt mentioned in this thread that you can "hazardize" them (I'm not sure it was mentioned, though, but I'd say so).
What I'd like to know, though, its if they can have objects attached.
