Correct. Private betas usually fall under an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) that basically has you agree you aren't going to tell anyone about the magical things you've seen. Because this is a legal agreement, it can only be made by those 18 and older.

But seriously, who would know if you'd used a fake age to sign up? It's not like Sony has any way of actually checking, so I guess it's pointless anyway.		2012-05-19 03:49:00

I think Sony will have bigger problem letting you in underage, since they made invalid "contract" since they can't do that in legal law, all they can do is cut you from beta, since its only againsts PSN beta aggredment. Not big deal as long as you not break NDA, so if you cheat you better stay quiet about it and follow NDA, specially that there people who chose players are visiting here ;p

Besides no body say that there will be NDA (or else i missed something), i don't really see point of NDA or else they have some marketing plans or plan to hold it in whole beta, lifting NDA after makes that NDA pointless since content is exposed anyway orelse they been holding for some reason.

the reason for an NDA at the start of a beta is in case there is a game breaking bug, they wouldnt want talk, videos or pictures of that kind of thing all over the internet. at the very least i'd expect a an NDA to b in place for a week or so, but with an NDA they normally keep the beta with a smaller group of testers

well you dont actually own the game with a physical version either, just a license to play said game. however if you buy the digital version you are allowed to back it up to your ps3 and pc (maybe not seperatly ) or redownload from the store at any time. if anything happens to the disc you're screwed		2012-05-20 03:57:00

If it's anything like the lbp2 beta... I wouldn't get my hopes up that SCEA releases the beta codes anytime soon. I felt sorry for our American friends as by the time they got in most of the bugs had been reported extensively (not that that's a bad thing of course) So a few weeks would be a drastic improvment... but hopefully it will be out soon for all.

But as to why its so spread out... its just how betas go. New features come online through updates which may require a larger testing pool, also it gradually tests stress on the servers... that kind of thing.

As to the matter of secrecy, you can say you're in a beta... just not what features are in the beta until the developers tell you it's ok to or you reach an expiration date on the NDA.

The memorizer is definitely one of the biggest breakthrough tools in Vita. Definitely adds a lot to level series and the continuity between levels.		2012-05-22 21:20:00

I think people get over obsessed with "Beta is for having fun, it to find bugs", i bet they don't even expect most of this people they invite to return any feedback, if they want sure feedback ;p there also other reasons for beta:

-Get random factor in to development which is player, except random bugs finding, players also produce random traffic which allows to test servers, produce random data which allows to test lot of aspect of the game, produce more accurate normal use statistical data. Things that are not much possible to do with group of people lower then 100 which are more busy developing game anyway.
-In LBP especially, promotion. It's hard to promote community aspects of the game without a community, specially that thereuser generated content, if you look on LBP2 ads in 90% of them showed beta user content.

Either way, don't get too serious about finding bugs, even if you not doing that, if you not even creating anything, by playing and having fun you causing traffic and already helping them anyway.

I think most impotent selection key here is people who actually be active not just play once to check and go away, thats why for example they picked most active people in LBP1 to LBP2 beta

A very fair point, none of us ever agreed to its NDA. However, its common sense that it says you arent supposed to reveal information about the beta that hasnt been announced yet. The art style and design of this game sure pops out at you, IMO it has a bit more perspective than its predecessors. It's like the Before-LBP LBP. You could place stuff in more than three layers, although I don't think you can in this game. Sure looking forward to it. It has so much character and looks like a lot of work and time was put into it. It seriously looks fantastic.

Keep in mind that is just a demo, and the graphics are probably improved greatly by now. I'd say it doesn't look too shabby.

Especially compared to the pixelated mess that was LBP PSP :kz: (kidding)

You really shouldn't use link shorteners, when possible. There aren't many good reasons to want to obscure where they are leading. And trust me, they don't charge by the character here at LBPC.

Gameplay videos of people who got it early (I don't know how they got it) but it runs poorly and looks mediocre. I may still get it if that was just a beta or something because I had high hopes for the first FPS game on the vita...

Well think of it this way, how many LBP players own a vita? Not very many.

How many LBP players who own the vita know about the beta or even care about LBP Vita, probably a very large sum (for some reason)


Now the amount of players who have LBP1 or LBP2 AND a Vita AND are interested in the beta is probably the smallest of all these percentages. Therefore there is a bigger window for you Brapp to be one of the lucky few who gets into the beta. Unless they're making the beta only available to like...50 some players..which.. would suck.

My guess is there will be at least 500 beta invites which is more than enough for all of us who just have everything.		2012-05-28 05:12:00

Yeah, very true! Just about all the bugs will be patched by the time we are playing the beta. Most of the bugs I found were already reported by the time I was finding stuff.

Today is Memorial day in the U.S. I doubt invites will be today, it being a holiday.

It would be painfully ironic if I get a beta key tomorrow. The day Resistance Burning Skies, Pure Chess, and the Gravity Rush demo comes out.

Urrggh.. why would someone feel the need to post a question like this.

Betas NDA is simple. Just don't go spoiling content or features that could hurt a games release sales when it's officially released. If you say something in the game is broken and a reviewer picks it up, then his review will be biased therefore greatly affecting unit sales.


In other words, keep your mouth shut if you get in the beta and avoid publicly showing anything that happens in it. You are there to HELP the company sell the game, not to decline estimated sales.... It's all about money



On another note, eagerly waiting to help test this game out. I plan on giving very detailed reviews for anything and everything in the game. Also have an idea of what kinda level I'll create using that new rain tool 		2012-05-28 21:27:00

edit: darn it! i had to restore my Vita because it wouldn't delete Frobisher Says. it will not connect to my network now! it finds the SSID but it can't find the IP for some reason. when i try to play Uncharted it tells me i must have a memory card (which i have) i can only assume it's because i can't go back online and register as Gribblegrunger. any idea people?		2012-05-29 08:49:00

Kinda off-topic, but I had issues with Frobisher Says too. Waited 25 mins for it to delete, and eventually gave up and forced the Vita off.

All I can think of doing to fix your issue might be to completely restore the Vita, and then format the memory card.		2012-05-29 10:39:00

yeah, he showed all the playable levels and create mode in 1080p. luckily he was terrible at it so you never saw anything too revealing. there were things but i'm keeping quiet on those. i was waiting for him to go to his own moon but when he did i couldn't quite make out his name properly. that's another reason i wasn't sure about reporting him... and i also don't know if it may have been a level he downloaded

Not all of them were, i remember some spanish kid with an ugly costume posted almost a hundred videos, recording levels, create tutorials etc. and did everything he could to hid his PSN. I remember talking to CC about it, unfortunatly the NDA was soon lifted so they stopped pursuing him and he got away with it. Once i got in i realized LBP2 beta had a working LBP.me, which people could've used to track him down (By comparing his score and time the video was uploaded).

So if there is a Beta Vita LBP.me (obviously no one can answer this for me with the NDA) like LBP2 did, you beta testers may be able to track him down.

EDIT: Just realized other possible ways to track him down, if like on LBP2, Vita has a recent activity section (in peoples profiles, or for a level), Beta testers could try that to find him.		2012-05-29 23:34:00
