Aah, tomorrow I'll be seeing a load of you awesome people! I'm gunna print of a checklist and go LBPC-er spotting.

For the first time in the 2/3 years I've been following LBP and Mm, everything will escape the internet and become reality. I'm scared/excited.

(Not looking forward to getting up at 6 in the morning though)

Look out for me in the sackboy Spacesuit t-shirt (assuming of course I'm the only one wearing one, which I probably won't be). Will prob be around the LBP2 area most of the time, and I'll be at the OPC meetup in the cafe area at 3:30.

I luck forward to meeting you all tomorrow! (and seeing what Grant and Jack have been making...)

In the que for about a hour now. The doors should be opening in 10 mins.

Can't believe Alex Evans was on my tube. I told some some of my mates who he was and when he heard his name he turn and smiled, like hey they know me.

Should've said hello really....

Was a very good day indeed. Had a great time. Spoke to coxy, grant, rtm, jack (although I don't think I intoroduced myself to jack lol), spaff, dan and shermz from sackcast. Probably some others I forgot and probably some others I didn't even know were from here lol.

The funniest thing though was when I was speaking to rtm and didn't even know it was him. I was asking him how he managed to do something with a sackbot that he was showing tom. And when he was explaining it to me that he was using a DCS set as a reciever so it has inputs aswell as outputs. I then said to him, oh that's what rtm was talking about. And he was like, errr that's who I am lolol knew he was from the community as I recognized him, but didn't know it was the infamous rtm himself

What an awesome day.

Met Spaff, Tom, Alex, Christophe, Johnee, Danny, Grant, Jack, rtm, Chimpanzee, moonwire, Shermzor, Dan, and a lot of other people who I'm still not sure who they were. Think I spoke to you at one point dorien but didn't realise it was you at the time. A load of us and some of the Molecules went to a pub at the end, had a few drinks, were joined by three of the devs from Hello Games, and even played Zombie Dice.

Saw something rtm was making, it was quite incredible. A sackbot with a different jumping mechanic, that sped up the longer you ran, that could roll through fire (and jump roll), jump and slam through sponge floors and even wall jump. Jack was making what looked like a platformer with a sackbot with a double jump/rockteboot sort of ability. And Grant made a cannon that fired sackbots. Awesome stuff.

Oh, and we saw the trophy list too! Although it's probably not exactly what the final list will be like. Somebody got a video (can't remember who), but I remember seeing some weird ones such as 'Play LBP2 after 9pm' and ones like 'Get 50 plays' still existed. But I didn't see any heart ones. And they actually mentioned the trophies in the dev session too but can't remember much of what they said, although I think the idea for the Create trophy was Danny's. So we can all blame him for H4H.

EDIT: And got a glimpse of debug mode. You could unlock everything, buy all DLC, unlock levels, edit story levels in create mode, and a load of other options that presumably make life so much easier. But that's only for the devs to use.

here's what I did at the expo, in exciting list format.

watched the MM developer session. It involved cheese projectiles, flaming zombie pandas, tanks and Tescos.
The flaming panda received spontaneous applause.

peered over rtm223's shoulder while he was demoing his awesome custom sackbot.
The highlight was its meteoric ground-pound ability, which caused explosions and sent shockwaves along the floor. Epic.

nabbed Johnee on the way out of the Killzone 3 conference, and had a great chat with him about random LBP-related stuff. Johnee is a complete legend.

said hello to Spaff briefly. For some reason the conversation turned to the hot-button issue of "Rocket cheetah" vs "Jet cheetah".

gave Tom_Molecule a drawing of a rocket cheetah. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

got a very large MM t-shirt.

failed to play any other games at the show.
I didn't care about them anyway!

I wish I'd read this thread more thoroughly so I would've had a better chance of identifying folks. I realise in retrospect that I walked past Nuclearfish on several occasions. bah

In conclusion, I award this event five stars and a <3!

It was me that recorded the trophy list.

I was next to Dorien when we queued up to go into the MM conference but I wasn't sure if it was him. I was with my dad at the time and I said, "I think I know that guy." I called out his name, not looking at him, and my dad said he didn't turn around.

I had a nice chat with Alex Evans. He can't see 3d but he reckons he would have to program the game still if they made a 3d one, so he would have to keep asking people to check if he is doing it right. He also said I could upload a video of the trophy list!

But.... You were peering over my shoulder and didn.t say hello?? Is it because I smell? :-( grant, jack and I are quite suprised at how many people who were knocking around and didn't introduce themselves. We don't bite, y'know.... Though grant might, but only if it's after 1am, and a few other rules are adhered to - can't really explain that story on this site, but it involves spooning, and jack being jextremely jealous. Regardless, if anything like this does happen again, grab us for a chat - we can play lbp anytime we want, it's rare that we get a chance to meet you guys from the forums and thats what we were really there fore. And if there is a next time and i find out people aren't saying hello, i will RRAAAAAAAAAGGE

That said, it was great metting all you guys, i'm afraid my memory of faces to psns to real names is hazy, but I've barely slept all weekend (not least because of the aforementioned story involving spooning) but it was cool seeing you all and i had a great time.

Appologies for this post being full of in-jokes, this is just how we roll ;-)

I had an absolutely amazing time for so many reasons. The nights were fantastic and ensured the mornings werent so good but they were well worth it

I met so many awesome people. I met that many that I honest don't think I'd remember who was who if I seen them again, it is all just an introduction blur, but nevertheless every person was a delight to talk to

I think my major highlight is all the little children that I met and seeing how much they loved the game, both play and create. It really is inspiring to sit and watch a 6 year old create pure awesomeness. The age range that was there to see the game was simply incredible and really does show how special this game is.

I was kind of amazed by that. All these people that blame cool page rubbish and H4H on 12 year olds, and there are people younger than that who are probably better at making stuff than the accusers are.

I arrive from what probably was the most amazing experience in my life yet. Never before have I ever met so nice people while being able to talk freely and not being shy at all. I am still PTSD'd by it all...

I arrived with my dad though he went quite early and I was left on my own. I wandered and tried LBP 2 for a bit (but a bit useless as I am already am in the beta) but it was fun anyway. After that I haunted the place a bit more and suddenly caught sight of Dan (from sackcast). I did not recognize him at first and when I first did he dissappeared... So then I roamed the place to try to find him again (thank Gosh he did that video blog thingie) and found him at last with shermzor and his sister (at least I think she was... or a gopher in disguise... anyway,) and the fun began.

The Molecules arrived and I got to talk with Tom, Spaff and Evans, got all three autographs, a picture with me and spaff (which I may post later on here). I even got a t-shirt for myself, and boy am I going to wear it until it stinks of rotten eggs and old lettuce!

Had a tiny chat with everyone, stumbled upon Shropshirelass, Adi and Claire, NuclearFish and lots of more... I wish though I had said hi to more of you all and talked more as well

I had a good time trying to imagine what people would look like and how they were like in real life... Jack is higher than I thought he was  (that's a compliment btw ) And rtm... He looks like a mod in real life as well (also a compliment)

Apart from LBP 2 I tried out Infamous 2, which was satisfactory and also Assassins Creed 3, which I totally got to buy along with game 1 & 2 as I have not played any of them I wish I got to play some Brink though, but I never got the chance

I had an awesome time and I hope you all who went had one as well!

I mostly failed to pipe up because I'm a lurker on these forums, so if I'd said "Hi I'm TIG!!1" it would've been met with baffled silence probably. xD
Next time I shall fail less hard!

But I wish I'd grabbed onto someone's coattails when I saw Spaff, Tom and the community folks leaving the expo. The post-show pubbage sounds truly legendary.

(though I'm not so sure about all this spooning business)

Much more likely that someone would have blurted out "llamas!" and then wished they hadn't, lol!

Yep, I mostly lurked too, for much the same reasons. It was great to meet TheAdipose, Clarie and Moonwire though and we got some cool freebies from Tom who is such a nice guy (he went out of his way to find some T shirts small enough for my kids).

Also, if the guy who shouted out "apple tank" in the dev session and was in the thick of things at the LBP2 stand later is a member here, it'd be great if he could say who he is. I'm just curious and wanting to put more names to faces.

Totally agree with Jack's comment about the kids, some of them were so young and so talented it was unreal - we're talking so young that their hands were practically too small for the controllers! Watching them create was amazing.

Anyways, who else thought that Def Jam Rap Star stage was literally the most cringeworthy thing in gaming history?

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing some videos too! Every time I turned I seen at least 3 cameras pointing at the screens and about 30 people watching so there'd better be some good stuff!

It was not easy creating with so many people watching over your shoulder that's for sure...every time I turned around I thought 'ooooh *$%*! that's scary, let's keep my eyes on the screen then I won't know how many people are actually watching'. It felt like you couldn't stop for a second, if I stopped even just to look at my phone or stretch or something it would mean all those people were stood around with nothing to watch or do! Scary pressure, especially when you have no ideas and are literally making it up on the spot

The highlight of creating has to be putting anti gravity switches on literally anything I could. People behind me must have thought 'what is he doing?! What a noob!'.The reason I was doing it was because Rich was sat next to me and for every unnecessary switch placed in the level, he developed a severe twitch. Well worth it.

It was also annoying with waiting to play and having people waiting to play.
Did anybody see my LBP2 sort-of-level where you control a sackbot with a bag on his head and you can change if he is non-lethal, plasmafied, electrified, or burning with L2 & R2 and he could super jump by holding R1 and clicking X?

If that stand alone hadn't been there it would have been 10 times quieter! They had someone from the BBC interviewing someone about the game, when it really didn't seem that good. Sing-star with rap songs if you ask me.

Dorien made me laugh in the conference. MM asked what they should make live on stage and he shouts out "SHARK SURVIVAL!"

If you are reading this Dorien, I was the one that was filming sitting in front of you. And I was next to you in the queue. I wasn't sure if it was you though. When I came back to talk to you I couldn't find you.

Right then. Who was the guy with the big frizzy blonde hair? and who was the ginger guy? I was the one with the camera and the red LBP top.

I didn't have a clue what Grant was saying to me. O_o I figured out that he was making a canon that fired sackbots into dangers and the better the death, the more points you get. He made the first one jump into the canon, but missed the canon and it died on the fire on the back of it. He got no points for that.

Had a good day, but now me and leather are both ill.

Them guys had too much energy and were way to enthusiastic lol

That's half the reason I think people were scared to introduce themselves. As you guy's were so busy creating, that peeps probably didn't want to interrupt to break your flow lol

LOL I knew the LBPC peeps would appreciate the "SHARK SURVIVAL" theme I shouted out well someone had to get it started lol
And I was watching you film it and thinking I wonder if that's Moley, I think we were at the booth briefly together too and I was just about to say is that you Moley but you walked off talking so I didn't want to interrupt

Right then. Who was the guy with the big frizzy blonde hair? and who was the ginger guy? I was the one with the camera and the red LBP top.

LOL I was standing next to both the people I think you are describing and talked to the 'redhead' but didn't know who they were. Gonna go out on a limb and guess Nuclearfish????

Oh wow it was such a great day i want to go again! Shame i didnt meet anyone though
Which day did you go in the end????

Was a great day, wish I didn't go with all the other people I was with as I felt like just staying at the lbp bit all day, but didn't want to be rude to my friends lol
Then I could've got to speak to some of you's a bit more. I am proper deaf as well lol and even was I was having a good chat with rtm about his sacbot, I couldn't hear him properly and had to keep leaning in like a weirdo

One of the highlights for me was also Danny (Daniel Leaver of MM) coming up with some lady (lol don't know if she worked for MM) to where I was watching some random guy playing lbp2. He asked if the dude minded if they joined in and turned on 3 more controllers and handed me one as well. All 4 of us played Tower Of Woop and Danny kept trying to hold me back with the grapple hook to let the lady get in front. I kept fighting on though lol
I also joked with him that I had just watched him and the lady playing that dancing game on the Wii that was next to the lbp2 bit. Said he "was such a great dancer" lol

Was much fun and will defo go back next year if everyone's up for it. This time I will be coming for a drink Didn't see you's all leave, came back about 6:45 to say goodbye and you's were all gone

I introduced myself to people I recognised. But apart from standing in the middle of a seemingly random bunch of people and shouting "I'm dorien" then it was hard to know who to introduce myself to lol

And I'm not a known creator and I ain't been as insanely active as I used to be. So I didn't know if any of the newbies would know who I was anyhoo lol
Also being a 6'4" fat dude with a beard in his 30's and hanging around the 'kids game' I thought people might start getting the wrong ideas lol

If that was nuclear fish then it explains why he was making another spiralizer test! Should have put 2 and 2 together... and I thought that the frizzy blonde haired guy was moonwire too! I didn't know though and I am pretty shy... :/

Yeah, didn't quite work though. Rotators don't quite do the job as good as motor bolts. And having no corner editor made it pretty dififcult. Eventually it turned into a crazy spinning thing that didn't work so I gave up.

I didn't really introduce myself to many people because I didn't know what anyone looked like (expect the obvious ones like Grant, rtm etc). Suppose I should have just pressed L1.

Oh wait...

As I kept saying all day, next year: NAME TAGS!!! I felt like such a weirdo introducing myself as "Leather". I think people thought I was asking them a question, some sort of bondage related question. So yeh, name tags next year everyone!

Awesome day though.

Perhaps there should be an official LBPC name-tag template, which we could all print out and write our usernames on.

(shamefully geeky? probably, but who would care at the Eurogamer expo)

I didn't have a clue what Grant was saying to me. O_o I figured out that he was making a canon that fired sackbots into dangers and the better the death, the more points you get. He made the first one jump into the canon, but missed the canon and it died on the fire on the back of it. He got no points for that.

A lot of people had trouble understanding me on the show floor mate, I thinks it's a combination of accent and noise

Some little boy, who was awesome, started playtesting the level for me and came up with the best ideas for it, stuff i wouldn't have thought of. In the end we just went into a blank level and created a pile of completely random stuff, that was probably the most fun I had in create over the weekend. His mother told me they were gonna join LBPC, so if they are reading this, I didn't get your PSN, can you send me a request and put in the message who you are

It was brilliant meeting everyone, there were to many to mention, but meeting face to face and having a bit of craic was awesome.

The build we were using is not compatible with the beta, so unfortunately you won't get to see the changes i made, and i won't get a chance to finish it

I just found this photo my husband took on Saturday. I'm guessing but I think that might be Moleynator and Leather sitting chatting to Jack and rtm. Anyone else want to shout if they're on there? I'm in lurk mode just behind rtm.

Lol grant is just sitting there, and his face says like: this totally, totally, is not working.

Ahrr, if only England was a few feet from Canada, alas, it is not.

What's with the nasty matching shirts?

If there was an event like this in the NY/ NJ area I'd go. Come on, giant sackboy statue in times square!

Am I the only one in NYC that plays this game?!?!!?

I believe the matching shirts were so we could be used to distract journalists from Spaff and Tom, who prefer chatting to the fans - not sure how many interviews I declined over those two days!

@ leather, I can send you some pictures of my eyes if you want

It won't be the same if I don't see them with my own eyes. (End of that, before it gets too weird)

Some chairs with backs would have been good. And wheels. And padding. And cup-holders. They were really strange though, they kinda sucked you in as you sat on them. I didn't sit on them for hours like the green striped magic men did, I feel sorry for them!

They were hollow thin plastic as well and when I was sitting on one and chatting to rtm I was thinking that they most definitely weren't man enough for a man of my stature lol

I wasn't sure if you would know me though seeing as you have been a bit inactive. :/

Dude I could leave for a hundred years and still know moley

They were weird chairs when I sat on them. I went to the LBP2 booths 6 times, none of them comfortable. EXCEPT the area with bean bags. Those were awesome.2010-10-08 05:17:00
