Call of Duty: Black Ops

Archive: 571 posts

If I remember right, in the one hour gamespot video, I saw a guy lie underneath a dropping care package, and survive it :o

Actually yes, I'm sure of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDVm8yAGNpg
Go to 2:48 and watch that guy who lies under it.

You can still get killstreaks in care packages, but it's not luck of the draw like in MW2, there are actually odds in Black Ops... Like it would be extremely rare to get dogs in a care package. ( Heh, that sounded funny... Dogs.. in an airdrop... funny... *cough)
Actually, there are some odds:
[info is messing up so just click the link below]

Source (http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Care_Package#Content_Probabilities)
If you see, the chance of getting something awesome in these crates isn't random, most of the times I get a 3/4 and rarely a 5 killstreak. Even rarer are the stronger killstreaks. (but that doesn't explain the fact that I already got 3 AC-130s using care packages )

Hm, then I play with some pretty lucky people... They should try gambling...

Watch this and cry tears of happiness, as no longer are noob tubes OP, they actually look UP! (Go to 3:00 for the noob tubing.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtuGH_ZeCgw&feature=player_embedded

And then some sniping tests and lunge distance (Which doesn't look as ridiculous as MW2, but still could be annoying.)

Yeah, and look how little damage he took at that range. I don't think they made flak jacket give a ton more explosion resistance than normal, so you can imagine that they don't do much damage anyways. Also, a lot of people will be using flak jacket, you can't get more ammo for the noob tube in one life, and you have to wait a set amount of time to use the noob tube when a match starts. So I think they have been nerfed a fair deal.

Actually they did. They gave you tons of explosive resistance, noob tubes have been nerfed, but they aren't underpowered. 2-3 feet away would still kill a guy, which I think is good. Also how do you know you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can use a noob tube? If that's true then wow Treyarch has gone whole hog on this game.

Forget noob tubes, learn to shoot a gun!

Will dive in the new zombie mode a lot, though. Maybe we could even make a "zombie party"! :arg:

I find it funny that it tells you it won't activate but it still deducts the ammo lolol.

Will you be able to play the multiplayer maps offline with bots?

The thing that annoyed me about Bad Company 2 is that you had to be online to access the multiplayer, so you couldn't mess around offline.

Some very good gameplay in 1080 of Black Ops. Shows off the Sniper with the Patch, Theater Mode, The customization screen, gameplay of TDM, and more.

@Whaaaaale Ah, thanks. Gotta love good gameplay by people who can actually play! Funny how he didn't get a triple spray because of someone using second chance. (I can tell that will be one of the most used perks D: )

I saw a video that showed how effective the RPK with sleight of hand was. It destroyed. So I'm probably gonna buy that with my AK-74u.

No problem, I agree, this guy is pretty good with quality videos as well. Here is one with him using the Olympia (Double Barrel Shotgun) in HQ. Pretty good gameplay, the spawns look HORRIBLE though. You'll see what I mean.

Lol. Yeah, Fall camo doesn't look as nice as it did in MW2. Still, you have I think around 12 camos, and you can just buy which one you want, it's not by headshots or anything.

Well that's it, whoever makes next years call of duty is either going to make nothing but an exact copy of everything treyarch have done or they are going to mak a rubbish game. Either way this will probably be the best COD game from now untill years to come.

Yeah I think this game will be a shining example of excellence within the FPS genre for years to come. For a developer to give so much value for money, so much fantastic content (none of it filler) really deserves recognition. This year has been the best ever for gaming and I have bought so many AAA titles. I did not think Black ops would be on my GOTY list but I have changed my mind

I had BFBC2 and spent 130 hours with it making it my most played FPS ever. Taking that into consideration I still believe, looking at it objectively, that Black Ops will be a better overall package for all the many reasons that I and others have stated.

I think TheChannel is basically trying to say Variety is the spice of life.

While I love BFBC2 (more than any previous CoD - even uploaded a suicidal vid of me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd-uuEyMPtE ) you gotta praise Black Ops on it's range of game modes. You can't really say one is better at the moment without playing Black Ops, but I've always found the two series fun for different reasons. CoD is faster, more 'twitch' gameplay, TOTALLY solo, and at times cheap... while BFBC2 is much more team based, balanced and at times pretty epic. I'm usually in the mood for one or the other, best of both worlds really.

A friend of mine on PSN already has the game so I checked the trophies (which I shouldn't have because one in particular spoiled what is bound to be one of the greatest moments in FPS history). Almost every trophy is related to the single player campaign. I counted two relating to Zombies, two relating to Dead Ops, two relating to wager matches and one hidden trophy. There is also a mysterious trophy (I do not want to spoil) that makes it seem as though Treyarch had one surprise left that no one knew about. Anyway, it looks to be an easy plat. My game shop already has the game but can't sell it to me until tomorrow (there is a midnight launch but I can't make it). Very excited!2010-11-08 15:33:00

I went and pre-ordered it just now in Game. Found out it uses VAC on PC, which probably means it uses the steam server ports. So it should work! Otherwise I'm buying a game I can't play online for a month or so, and I'm doubtful I'll get through single player unless I get real bored.2010-11-08 16:42:00

Theres 4 player zombies co-op, and I think that's it. I remember hearing that Treyarch hated the MW2 co-op missions (So did I) and so they didn't add anything like them.

Doing SP atm (wont get MP working till tomorrow if it even does).

Gotta say - so far unimpressed. Graphics are worse than MW2 and it runs worse too! (I'm playing at max setting 1920x1080). Story is okay, not far in enough to say though yet. First few missions seem okay, nothing special.

It's all about multiplayer anyway. Better work tomorrow or I'll be annoyed.

EDIT: On a positive note, the guns feel great.

Haha just kidding!

Actually there are people with Prestige 15, the 360 version has already been hacked. Thankfully there is a new Report option, let's see if it works.

I just picked up my copy along with a shiny, new 320GB Slim PS3 (it was time to upgrade my 20GB PS3 lol). Now I just need to count down the hours until I can play tonight.

IGN review is in. Not that their reviews matter. These guys seem to have a penchant for judging what a game isn't rather then what it is:

I have mixed feelings about this. For me, Call of Duty 4 was the best experience of the series. Everything felt fresh, especially the multiplayer. Good times. But now it feels like a formula they use over and over again. The only thing that's tempting me to buy it is Nazi Zombies.

Anyway - do you think I should buy it or not?

In short, this is probably the best easter egg in the history of gaming. Classic 8 bit music, power-ups, multiple paths to choose from, zombie carnage galore. I love this game already 2010-11-09 18:28:00

Just reached level 10 and made a cool emblem for my character. This game kicks the crap out of MW2 and that is due in large part to the maps. I spent over 100 hours with CoD 4 but only 30 with MW2, it was a big disappointment. Black Ops lives up to the hype 2010-11-09 21:38:00

I love it
there is what frustration but not like throwing a controller though the window
but more like confusion Rage (i say mutch times/ he?, what?, How did that happen?)
there are no overpowerd weapons
but there is a Huge overuse of Smgs

i dont like
That the gas grenade is not effective
Zombies in zombie mode kill you in 2 or 3 Hits

It takes apart all CoD games since CoD2. So by that reckoning, it'll be the best console CoD PS3 users have played

I'm rank 18 now, but the M14 is brilliant, gotta love semi-auto I'm a fan of the enfield as well.

You should add me, I won't be on today as I have practice but it would be nice to play with someone from LBPC.

x NarwhaI is my gamertag, but it's a capital i instead of an L.

I think what's turning most people off from the game is the fact that they're too dependent on MW2. You have to remember this is running on World at Wars engine, you have to sort of lead your shots when they're running, it's more like Cod4 then MW2.

I personally love the game. Also there was this 1v1 tournament at the Gamestop I went to, got to play Black Ops before it came out, we also had this Dj outside playing music and it was LOOOOOOUD, you could hear it from a mile away. Started to hurt my ears towards the end of the day.

While single player is extremely average, with AI being the equivalent of a lampost, I've just been on MP for a good while (lvl 4 to 23 lol) and gotta say, this is pretty awesome. True Dat.
1 more thing...
1st off, you don't kill Castro, it's a double, and in the second mission you meet Sgt. Reznov from CoD 5, and guess what, his personality hasn't changed at all. and also you stop a missle that the Russians fire with a guided missle, pretty cool. And John F. Kennedy (I think) gives you orders.

Hopefully someone can give me an unbiased answer here: What's the game like in regards to WaW or MW1/2? I own those 3, and WaW is my favorite. Because:

-Single player was more objective-based with more linear paths and less flanking or backtracking. A lot of people enjoy fighting enemies everywhere, playing in complex gameplay, and running through multipath environments, but that just makes things less fun for me. I'm not a very good player either, and an FPS is something you need practice with to be good at. It didn't have an overwhelmingly ridiculous story either. I cannot stress enough how MW2's story was THE most uncreative thing ever to come out of the human mind.

-The guns were more fun and varied in my opinion. They all had very different sounds, feels, and shapes especially, which I think is lacking in the Modern Warfares.

-The maps, the original ones at least, seemed to have designs behind them. I don't like it when they scatter buildings and hills around sloppily and call it a map. For a map to be fun for me, it is probably geometric or symmetric and easy to navigate. Secrets and climbable roofs that aren't obvious are generally downsides.

-Zombies! I think the difference between shooting NPCs and shooting Zombies is like the difference between LBP and an FPS - it's huge. A label like Resident Evil has an entire series dedicated to fighting zombies but I feel like WaW has pulled it off the best. If Black Ops comes out with a zombie mode I don't think I could resist.

Does Black Ops fit with my preferences? And does anyone else want to share their preferences? I know my views aren't mainstream and it's interesting to see what other people look for in an FPS.

Well the story is pretty ridiculous in BLOPS, but potentially Cool. The problem comes when your doing a mission in one place, then jump straight into the next in no time at all. It makes the whole thing feel way too rushed. Each mission tends to be in a different location with different characters and there's just no time to take in the story. One second I'm in Vietnam going chuggachuggachugga, the next I'm in a darn limo. It's typical cod. I'm only just under half way through, but I'm unimpressed with SP. The enemy AI all seem to forget there are other people on your team, and your team mates don't seem to know how to shoot either.

-The guns were more fun and varied in my opinion. They all had very different sounds, feels, and shapes especially, which I think is lacking in the Modern Warfares.

Guns are great in BLOPS good range, and feel great! Definatly big positive here.

SP map design is run of the mill stuff MP maps are cleverly thought out and very fun to play! Also haven't seen as many cAmping spots which is nice!

Zombie mode is more of the same, and in no way do I mean that as a negative. Also an awesome map unlocks later in the game

Does Black Ops fit with my preferences? And does anyone else want to share their preferences? I know my views aren't mainstream and it's interesting to see what other people look for in an FPS.

If you want an awesome MP game with fun zombies, yes! Want an awesome SP though, look elsewhere. As a whole package though, brilliant.

I would bold my answers usually, but I'm on my phone so it'd be hassle sorry!

Wow. Has anyone played Combat Training against Veteran bots? Shows how bad the AI is. I mean, they can't make skilled bots, but they can make bots with EXTREME aimbot and I think they also have increased damage, seeing as the M16 almost always one shots you. I played it with my friend, where it was the 2 of us against 9 of them. It was extremely unfair, but quite fun! Oh, and if you do try it, always watch the killcams when you are killed by snipers. They do some epic things xD2010-11-10 05:22:00

Good to hear that most people on this board are enjoying the game. I was up playing until 3 am last night (and waking up for work this morn was NOT fun lol). This game kills MW2. The map design is absolutely superb. My favorite has to be Nuke Town, it's non-stop action and a ton of fun. We had a Demolitions game going and I launched Napalm on the attackers base for 6 instant kills. At another point I drove my RC into their base and took out three of them (love this killstreak). Havana is another favorite as is the jungle one.

It seems like Treyarch really got the weapon balancing right. I have not encountered anything that seemed OP and I the game is mostly devoid of those cheap moments we often experience in other shooters. The killstreaks seem balanced too and the perks seem less powerful overall which I think is a good thing. I love the new points system and I was happy to see my beloved M16 unlocked from the start (have been using it exclusively). The contract system is an ingenious idea and I like how there is an actual time limit on them. This adds another layer of intensity to the action.

I am only lvl 3 of the SP campaign but I feel comfortable calling it the best in CoD history. The second mission in particular...wow. My one and only complaint is the sometimes moronic AI, both from enemies and teammates. Your buddies will run right past enemies who are shooting at you as if they weren't there and enemies will often perform hilarious animations like circling a lamp post. Fortunately the story, level design and action is so fantastic that this is really a minor point. As mentioned before, Dead Ops is a blast. I have yet to try Wager matches or Zombies but I know I will love both.

Black Ops lives up to the hype and I repeat what I wrote in a previous post: best console FPS experience ever!

Okay my honest opinion. People said MW2 story was crap, I begged to differ, it made sense, I knew why I was at places... This is not the case for Black ops, I had no idea why I was at any place I was at half the time. Action pieces were fun but the stupid AI... ARGH, wrecked the experience.

Oh and the online plays like uncharted 2 too much. It's fairer but it has got rid of the unbalanced part which was fun when you were exploiting it...

Although I can't understand how you don't find online to be enjoyable I can understand that the campaign is a selling point for you. I generally play the campaign first before jumping online but with Black Ops I keep switching between the two. The campaign for Black Ops is the best I have ever seen in a shooter, period. The presentation, level design, variety, voice acting, story, cutscenes, everything is AAA. So far every single level has left me saying "wow!". I am playing on Veteran difficulty though and it can be tough lol. Also, I am sure as a fellow old school gamer you will really appreciate the Dead Ops Arcade game

CoD will never be a massive RPG like story, if you want that, go play Fallout or something. The MW2 story wasn't great but it had some cool set-pieces. This one will apparently be epic, i can't comment because i haven't started it yet. So we'll see.

But please enlighten me, how the **** is making it balanced making it worse? balance is nescessary for a fun game, i don't want to be forced to use 1 gun/perk/killstreak combo just to be competitive. I wanna have the option of using what i want, and in this i have that. And if you are exploiting glitches and balance issues, then it's probably better that you aren't online so that you don't ruin it for people who want to play properly for fun.

Also, i just got screamed at by some kid, because he got 4 RC cars, and i one-shotted all of them with my M14

Alright, I played my first 45 minutes, and I have to say that I do like it. It feels like a different game to me compared to MW2. I like the different feel of the guns, the new maps, and the new equipment especially.

My only complaint is the dang spawning. It's not extremely often, but 1 out of every 5 spawns, I'll turn a corner and get shot at. I think the spawns feel more problematic than MW2, but overall this game kicks MW2's butt!

EDIT: On a positive note, the guns feel great.

yes I have and no not with 2 PSN accounts, I cannot figure out how to do that.

it's crap, as the game has to render twice, the textures takes AGES to load.

zombies has no performance drop though.

This "texture taking ages to load" thing lags the game, our does it only increase the time that it takes to the textures to be fully rendered without any effects on performace?

Overall, most things in this game are fine. The one thing that needs changing, and was made terribly was knifing. I can't understand the logic behind adding a lunge feature. It was flawed in MW2, and yet they decide they would just bring it back and make it just as bad? Even without commando the lunge range is still ridiculous. They talk like melee is just a secondary thing, but they OP it and favor the knifers over the gunners.

I'd be happy if they just removed knifing all together.

Okay, I love this game haha. And I'm pretty good too, had some epic matches. k/d is 1.62 which is better than my mw2 0.8 or whatever xD But yeah... too fun. Leveling up is fast too, just hit 43. Will prestige in no time lol.

Also, diving is so epic. Such win.

I've been maining the sub machine guns so far, but now on to the AK assault rifle to level up faster Chopper gunner is awesome.... Gunship is just mad lol.

Got chopper gunner on nuketown though. SO funny.

If so. Imma sell mw2, red dead redemption, mirror's edge. To trade it in for BO.

Yes sir, probably my favorite CoD.

The floating apple reminded me of the gravity switch in LBP2.

In other news, I'm getting this game soon. And stuff.

Hope that glitch gets patched first!

Well, after hours of frustration about MP not working, I beat the campaign, and...
Black ops has the MOST generic ending ever, kill a guy, an epic escape scene, and someone saying "We won" at the end, followed by a "For now" and epic credits music. Also the interigators were Weaver and Hudson, big suprise. Also Reznov was just a figment of Mason's imagination the whole time except for Vorkuta. Woods dies, and Bowman dies. there, that and the last one shold sum up everything you need to know, and also the numbers is a code to activate a set of bombs armed with the Nova 6 gas all over the U.S. also Steiner and Dragovich brainwashed Mason to try and kill JFK but it failed somehow... something to do with Reznov, meh, so yeah, this is for all you lazy people out there, enjoy.

Black Ops is officially the biggest entertainment launch in history (Treyarch deserves it!):

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/113/1133549p1.html

I played zombies with a friend last night at it's really special. The things the characters say are hilarious ("******* you fido!" when the hell dogs attack lol). We could not make it past round 5 though, those dogs seem impossible to kill. Do we need to set up the traps to take them out? I will try 4 player later today, maybe it will be easier. We also played Dead Ops, so much fun. The winners screen had us laughing

The campaign continues to impress, blows every previous FPS campaign out of the water imo. The joys of multiplayer are never ending. I LOVE THIS GAME!

EDIT:

Btw, if you are looking for maximum enjoyment and do not care about trophies then play the campaign on normal. On vet it is the toughest FPS I have ever played lol (but I want those trophies!).

Really?!

Do they really deserve it?!

For making yet another generic military shooter, in a market that is awash to saturation point with military shooters?
It's the most unoriginal thing they could possibly do.

It's not even their franchise, they are just piggy-backing.

If you ask me, the fact that this, now yearly update, of an FPS is "The Biggest Entertainment Launch In History" is a sad enditement on the gaming industry and on the general public of gamers.

When clearly, unique and innovative titles, such as LBP - deserve FAR more priase.

Oh well, it's like democracy, the majority don;t know any better, so we have to go with their opinion

wouldn't call the campaign in its whole generic though, it was just one big mind*****, and I haven't seen many games that did this.

and
reznov programmed Mason to kill Dragovich, Steiner and Kravchenko and that overrid the JFK assassination

Well, LBP won over 80 prizes...

Sure, if there's a game that deserves recognition, it's LBP.
It has won pretty much universal critical acclaim.

But sales wise, it has nowhere near met it's potential - in fact Sony viewed LBP as a flop. Only coming 4th in the week of it's release, and dropping to 19th in it's 2nd week of sale.

This proves, I think, (when compared to the sales of a generic FPS like CoD) that the gaming public have no real appetite for originality, or quality - and would prefer to be spoonfed a load of generic action mush that has no real taste or flavour.
And they lap it up

Just look at EA vs Activision for example.
EA used to be known for their generic yearly updates of their sports titles - then they decided to reboot their entire ethos... and rather than release a "Fight Night 2008" then next year release "Fight Night 2009" - they decided to only release the game when it was ready (why they are called Fight Night - Fight Night 2 etc) - and as such, their sales have plummeted (despite the fact they are making FAR superior games to what they made previously);
Where-as Activision have now taken on their mantle for releasing generic yearly updates that have no real differences to the previous years title - and as such, their sales have sky-rocketed.

It's a very sad state of affairs - and doesn't bode well for the future of gaming (unless you want to see more and more yearly released generic titles that offer nothing original)

And also LBP is only for PS3, guaranteed if it was for all systems then LBP2 would win the biggest entertainment launch in history.
Maybe not though because people still love FPSs.

And has there been some update that fixes my MP problems? i'm so desperate.

Yes, they do deserve it. Does that mean that a game like LBP does not deserve it more? Of course not! All of us here love LBP so your preaching to the choir. Treyarch deserves this success because they have managed to eclipse the shadow of IW and create the most robust MP game, the most spectacular SP campaign and jam pack Black Ops with so many extras that you really feel you are getting your money's worth.

I have owned more games across more consoles in more genres then anybody else I know. I am a harcore gamer to the core and have been gaming since the Atari 2600. I like to think I have a good basis of comparison when it comes to games but ultimately my opinion is simply that, MY OPINION. If your not into the FPS genre then good for you, no harm, no foul. Personally if I did not like a game I would not spend time making posts about it. Rather I would spend that time playing the games I love

Rolling Stones + Mekong Delta + a whole lot of things going boom = the definition of epic!

SR71 Blackbird mission? Ditto

I'm not so enamoured by flash - It's good the first time you see it, but has diminishing returns on replaying... and all you are left with is the game mechanic behind the flash - which is decidedly boring for those sections.
I too am an old school hardcore gamer - gaming nonstop since the Spectrum ZX across countless titles of every genre on just about every platform.
In the end, I'm just giving my opinion also - it's all I have to give - and maybe it is a sign that I'm getting old - but I've seen it all before - there is nothing new offered in Black Ops - it's just an amalgamation of every FPS there has been - creating a generic - ultimately souless experience.

As for the single player - I completed it on the 2nd day of owning the game - this to me is a failure of single player - I expect alot more out of my games.
And it's not that I don;t like FPS' - I just want something a bit more original - especially for the supposedly biggest game title of all time.
I much prefer an FPS title like BorderLands - with it's mixture of RPG/Dungeon Crawling game elements - to this generic offering.

And I will comment on a game I don;t like as an alternative to work, anyday

lol at the last sentence. Well, from old school gamer to old school gamer, your opinion is appreciated. However, it does beg the question: why did you buy Black Ops in the first place? Surely you knew what to expect from the previews leading up to it's release. This game was never meant to revolutionize the FPS genre. It simply took a proven formula and absolutely perfected it while adding enough tweaks to the gameplay to make it feel fresh again. Borderlands on the other hand should almost be in a separate category, it is so vastly different. I loved Borderlands and I love Black Ops, both for very different reasons. No matter how great a game is there will be those who dislike it, everything is relative

Hmm, you might be onto something there.
I think part of the reason I bought it (aside from only paying ?20 for it) - was because all the guys at work, & practically everyone on my friends list also bought the game - so I felt kind of 'forced' to buy it - which may be part of the reason why it has yet to win me over.

I just think it's sad that "The Biggest Game in History" is absolutely nothing new, it's just another itteration of the most spammed genre in the gaming market.
I think I'm getting bored with the whole military shooter genre - I'm hoping Ghost Recon Future Soldier manages to do something a bit new with it - but from what I hear, they are also making it as generic as possible - to appeal to as wide a market as possible - and to compete with the likes of Black Ops.
Which is another reason why I hate Black Ops - it's causing a dumbing down of previously good titles.
It's all style over substance.

Then there's the politics behind the making of the game - which for anyone who knows about it, knows that it's a case of Big Corperation vs The Little Guy - and the Big Corperation winning.
I've always rooted for the underdog

PLus, it's proving that Bobby Kotick (possibly the most hated figure in the gaming industry) is right in his approach to try and rip-off gamers at every turn - just look at the success he's making of it.

Meanwhile - truely original, innovative titles like LBP get left behind in the mad clamour to release a new Military FPS year in, year out.

Had a funny moment yesterday on Launch. In the center of the map there are two square platforms with wheels. I was near one when I saw an RC-XD coming at me, so I quickly run behind the platform, but hear is following me. I then continue to circle the platform over and over, with the RC-XD following me. I did it for long enough that the RC-XD was forcefully destroyed.

Made me laugh.

This is because Sony is absolutely horrible at selling a game. They don't understand how things work, Sony expects games to flourish and to sell yet they spend almost no money to advertise. I see this as the #1 reason why LBP, or any other exclusive for that matter, become "flops" to Sony. I did not see a single ad for LBP before it launched, not one. Yet I saw an ad for Black Ops on almost every big website (youtube, facebook, myspace, yahoo, and a few others I missed). Sure it's a multiplatform but look at Halo Reach? Same thing, had ads on almost every website and even on the T.V.

I think the greatest addition with Black Ops was Combat Training. Nuketown free-for-all with rapid fire Ak-74u/Mac11 is the greatest thing ever. And even though the bots have aimbot some times, they aren't a bunch of try hards like the majority of the community is, and they aren't smart enough to spawn trap you like most games I play seem to become.

I only wish they added some more options, so I could play gun game and stuff with them, and not just TDM and FFA.

Same.

Completely epic, even though I haven't played it by myself yet, OR played campaign. I was playing it with my brother.

If anyone wants to add me, "KlawwTheClown" is my CoD account.

But yeah, really want to know if the guest player can sign in to a second PSN account like was "confirmed" before... I can't find any way to do it, although maybe it's because my KtC account doesn't have an online profile yet?

So I was able to sign into my own Xbox Live account at my friends house, so it's possible for the Xbox so it should be possible on the PS3. What you do is hit turn on the second controller and press the start or X button when your at the Multiplayer Main Menu. Yes I'm positive, two different accounts. Are you in the multiplayer menu? Not in the lobby, just the menu, and if it doesn't work there try it at the main main menu. Basically what happened was I pressed A on the Xbox and a menu popped up with 4 screens and it said Press A to join and I hit A then it showed me all the accounts I can use and it was either mine or "Guest" and I chose mine then we played a few games.

My guess is you wrotte this in the dark, right after waking up/ going to sleep, or in a hurry, so I'll try to translate.

Lets see now...
"This game is quite good, (**** the countries.(?) The Ak (gun) is awesome, but I just don't have the the commando thing now, should have it soon."

Didn't quite know if the "****" was a censored word on pourpuse, or accidental, and if it was accidental, can't see wha it meant, so I'm not sure if that's accurate.

I'm rather positive the rest should be close enough to what he meant, tho I don't have the game, so can't be sure.

Hope that helps!

Well I think I found my ideal set-up. 90% of the time I use the following:

AK74u with extended clip
Semtex
Concussion
Claymore

Perk 1: Hardline
Perk 2: Steady aim pro
Perk 3: Marathon (need 6 more "first bloods" for Pro)

Killlstreaks: RcXD, Heli, Chopper Gunner

Last night I had a 6 hour marathon session playing CTF. My best game was on Nuke Town, I went 16-0. 2 kills with claymore, 6 from my SMG, 1 from RcXD, 2 from heli, 5 from chopper gunner. I had 1 flag capture and 2 returns

I don't see why you guys don't think the split-screen is good. Dang! You must be playing a different game! Go play a split-screen Wager Match. It's a flat out blast. No problems at all, and, in my opinion, beats the snot out of Warhawk split-screen, which was great. Even if you can't get the other account, you'll still have fun. 2010-11-15 01:46:00

I know. I was just playing wager matches with my brother.

Loving "One in the Chamber" and "Sticks and Stones" mode. I haven't played "Gun Game" yet, and my brother made me quit after one match of "Sharpshooter"...

I'm making my emblem to be a clown face! I'm gonna need all 10 layers though... 5 more to go, then he'll have a mouth, and pupils!

There's ONE bad thing about this game online. And it's pretty big, in my opinion. The spawning. It's actually worse than MW2's spawning.

But yeah. Best CoD I've played. I can't say much, since the first one I played was CoD4...

The PS3 doesn't have dual PSN play. The head of the department got mad about it apparently, so we MIGHT see a patch. No promises though. So far 360 is the only one I know of that can do it.
I was happy at least that the guest is the same level as the host though. Makes things easier. I just got it today, and haven't played it yet due to religious reasons, so yeah. I'll get back to this =D

I Believe i meant "This game is quite good, **** the doubters. The AK is an awesome gun, i just want the commando now, which i should have soon"

So you weren't far off

And yes, i was... very tired...

WARNING! TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT GLITCH!:

Players on both consoles (including myself) have been experiencing a glitch related to trophies/achievments when playing on Hardened/Veteran difficulty. There is a gold trophy for finishing the game on Hard/Vet and a handful of silver trophies for finishing specific groups of levels on Vet. Now, these trophies have not been registering for many people due to a glitch. If you begin a level, make it to X checkpoint, turn off your system and resume the next time you are on, the game reads it as not completing the level on that difficulty and therefore does not give you the trophy. In other words, if playing for these trophies then play the level straight through without turning off your system. Veteran is tough as it is and trust me, you do want to replay some of these levels on Vet lol.

On another note, has anyone else played Dead Ops? I played solo the other night and managed to make it to Round 22, I am curious to know how far others have gotten. The game keeps throwing new enemy types at you and the environments keep changing. At about Round 15 I was told to "choose my destiny" and was presented with 3 paths. The one I chose ended up permanently upgrading my machine gun to the ultra-powerful mini-gun (and it was definitely needed), very cool indeed. I wonder what other paths there are...

Finally unlocked Marathon Pro and I am 2 "share packages" away from Hardline pro. Steady Aim pro is a constant throughout all character slots while Ghost and Hacker Pro are used for specific game modes. Love this game although there were some major latency issues last night. I had two people in my party and after 30 minutes of trying we could not find a game where either of us had more then a 2 bar connection (and I use LOCALE search). I hope the announced path resolves these problems. Also, invincibility glitch has been discovered in Zombie mode (apparently WaW had the exact same problem). If you stand on another players head you both become invincible against every enemy type EXCEPT dogs. I guess cheaters always win, shame.

DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY!

ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE SKY!

But yeah. I'm having problems joining matches now.

Every time I try, it'll start loading, then after it's done "waiting for players", it boots me back to the lobby screen where it'll try to migrate hosts, and fail.

I has a sad. I just got Srks (Serkis/Circus) printed on my Famas, and I wanted to see it.

Agreeing with Klaww, the spawning is pathetic. Never before have I spawned, turned a corner, and gotten shot 4 times in a row...

On a side note, I'm assuming COD: Black Ops is going with the downloadable updates. BUT, did it take the Uncharted technique? Without using download updates or whatever?

Critical Zombie Analysis:

Not as pleased as I otherwise would be if there weren't so many annoyances.

- Useful weapons. Almost impossible to get! Each round is a race against the clock to open new areas that have guns that are slightly less crappy than the gun from the previous area. In the WaW maps, it was never a problem to get a great gun if you were careful with your money. In BO, and in the "Five" map in particular, the walls are plagued with tiny submachine guns that run out of ammo after a round or two if you aren't constantly buying more. Then when you go to the hospital area, it's very hard to backtrack and continue to buy submachine gun ammo, and your best gun has a pathetic 3-shot burst that isn't even powerful enough for consistent headshots.

- Another annoyance is the mystery box. Chance is exciting... but not fun when the odds are against you. If you are lucky enough to find the mystery box, it seems to have an even higher percentage of bad guns than previous mystery boxes. The Pack-A-Punch box somewhat balances things out, but it creates a huge gap between round 8 and rounds in the upper teens. Compare a Pack-A-Punch gun with the submachine guns I talked about and the comparison is laughable. If you manage to get a pack-a-punch gun at say round 10, you're set for plenty of rounds that are easy compared to what you went through. Difficulty, prices, and usefulness of available weapons are all very inconsistent.

- How easy it is for you to die! I'm not whining about difficulty in general, but it's ridiculously hard to even brush against zombies without dying. I find it strange that Speed Cola is 3000 points but Juggernog is 2500... Juggernog is by far the most useful perk. How do you survive zombies? You either shoot them or you run from them, or both, but you can't run from them very well without Juggernog. It's not any easier to die than it has been in previous zombie maps, but such an ever-present factor combined with tricky juggernog machines and narrow walkways like in Five kill some of the fun for me.

- Smeagles or crawlers or monkeys or whatever they are called. I predict that future maps will add more and more enemy types. We already have three: zombies, crawlers, the pentagon weapon stealers, and hellhounds. I would hate to see a zombie match with many enemy types. That's not what zombies is all about but Treyarch does unfortunately have to keep things fresh for mainstream players. The noxious gas thing is neither creative nor entertaining to me. I wonder if some person in a suit at a big table said "Hey, let's make it die in a puff of disorientating gas!" because it doesn't seem like they tend to think things through. Zombies is already excessively messy with hallways that are thinner and have more cables, shadows and wires than ever.

There are a few improvements for me though:

- The new character phrases. Not much more needs to be said here.

-Things get tough fast. Zombies doesn't waste time on boring or easy rounds anymore. Round 8 is the barrier for many.

We do have 2 new zombie maps that I think are great overall, so I am happy. But I envision future zombie maps having many enemy types and heaps of exaggerated perks, machines, power-ups, traps, and special weapons. I feel like Alex... complaining about the excessive perks and all.

There is a mystery box in *looks up name* Kino der Toten for sure, and I've heard it's in Five too. The mystery box in Kino der Toten can appear randomly in a door that you open and also teleport to a different room.2010-11-17 04:05:00

Did you guys know you can download mods in-game?
Just go to Playercard and Community and go to custom games.

Oh, and that teddy bear in the mystery box is frieken scary!!
When the weapon stealer suddenly popped up on my screen without noticing it, i was like ''hey, i lost my gun!''
When the teddy came up from the mystery box. i was like '''woot!''
And then i get teleported to a house with a big dead teddy bear, with blood all around it.

lol, i got more scared by a teddy bear, than a zombie.

It doesn't appear randomly, once you power up the map a green light on the "map" in most rooms indicates where the mystery box is, it changes everytime to start up Zombies but it doesn't teleport.

Also the crawlers aren't that bad, the gas cannot kill you, only disorientates your vision, you can sit in it all day and nothing will happen, just making sure you know this as some people see the gas and instantly think it will kill you after a certain amount of time.

Also I don't think the zombies are stronger, they just swipe faster, which could mean the same thing.

thing is, when you're stuck in the gas (crawler at feet, friendly shoots it and you don't notice) and a horde comes...you're pretty much effed

I. Love. Kino Der Toten.

I just made it to round 13 again...

With 2 noobs that could barely hold their guns too! They sounded 6 through their mic.

My first time using the pack-a-punch machine, and I used it on the Ballistic Knife. Too bad it was on my friend's PS3, so HE got the trophy.

We died because my two young team mates died right away while my friend and I PaP'd... Then my friend got caught off guard with his Thundergun... And I had to run instead of reviving them.

I probably could have told my friend to stay still, while I teleported up to the PaP, and shot him from there... I'm accurate with that thing.

I LOL'd when the 6 year old said: "I think he probally had this game for a long time."

In other words...

I made a short video showing how terrible the spawns were... It's in my fileshare now, but I might upload it to YouTube soon. It's kinda funny actually. The WHOLE 6-man enemy team spawned behind me.

ALSO, the update broke "Five". It won't load anymore. It freezes mine and my friend's PS3 every time.

Also, I really, really dislike the Famas. Is it just me, or is it the strongest weapon in the game?

Tip for people who plan on prestiging:

Money does not follow you into your next prestige. If you plan on prestiging the moment you reach 50, then try and save up money on your way there, only buying things that will help you reach that level. When you get to level 50, you should have a lot of money. Before you prestige, buy every layer for your emblem, and then you (if you smartly bought stuff) should have enough money to buy every single emblem. Do that, and viola; you now can forget about having to pay for anymore emblem related stuff, and instead, can buy those stupid clan tags for your guns that look extremely ugly and other useless stuff that only looks cool.

Also: this game has worse spawns than MW2, and that's REALLY bad. Seriously, I think Treyarch just made it like that as a joke. Because that's what the spawns are; a joke. A big fat, terrible joke that isn't as funny as IW's jokes. (Seriously, they had a lot of funny jokes, like "MW2" and stuff.) The next patch better have a fix for them, because I've almost had it with spawning in front of the enemy that just killed me, only to get killed again, oh and my team happens to be on the other side of the giant map, where I should be spawning.

No at the crazy brazilian gameing market. Black Ops was available for 116 dollars (already converted) at a store, while BioShock 2 was for 133$ in another. WTH???

I honestly never understood why people dislike the spawn system. I'm studying software engineering and know a little about coding and I have to tell you that there is so much that would go into the spawn system that they can't just "fix" it, it's easier said then done, they have to take EVERYTHING into consideration. Whether someone just died there, whether someone is aiming down their sights there, whether a napalm strike or a thunderbird is about to hit there, whether a nade is about to be thrown there, the list can go on and on. It's been two weeks, you need to give it time. There is so much background work that needs to be seen and done in order for them to make a fix, but something that they have done is this...

Improvements to the spawn system to resolve an issue where negative spawn influencers from specific game events were not always being deleted after the danger had cleared ? in some matches, this was causing good spawns to be erroneously flagged by the game as bad spawns, which in turn forced actual bad spawns to get selected later in the match

Well, even if it's only been two weeks since the games come out, and that it is hard to fix them, that doesn't change the fact that the spawns are terrible.

I mean, who enjoys being killed a second after spawning on a map that is large enough to not have that happen. I know Treyarch will fix them in time, but as of now, they are mainly terrible and a pain to play with. At least the game isn't broken beyond repair like MW2 was.

Oh, and random fact; I think the communities close to having killed the same amount of people as the entire human race.

Thought I'd post my emblem;

http://i796.photobucket.com/albums/yy247/CogSpartan/bo_emblem1.png
(BTW, it's much brighter than this, for some reason my capture card made it dark.)

This isn't me bragging, but I think I have one of the best emblems I've seen. Why? Because it seems that no one puts any effort into theirs. Most of the time all I see are ones that only use one layer. (Btw, my emblem used 10 layers, and will use all 12 when I get to level 50.) Any emblem that has effort in them that I see are usually the ones you wish you hadn't look at, if you know what I mean.

If anyone else can, post your emblems, I love seeing cool ones

That's a nice emblem! I'm not going to lie, my emblem needs some work, but it's at least polished and eye-pleasing.

I think the most hilarious emblem I've seen yet was one of the "work-really-hard-to-make-something-inappropriate" emblems. It involved a horse, a vegetable, a fruit, and a face...

Also, about the spawns; they've been developing for two years, I think that's plenty of time to make a halfway-decent spawn system. I mean really, two years....

I love my emblem, I'll try to post it soon.

The most aggravating/funny thing happened to me today, I was playing a standard match, nothing going good or bad, the level was Crisis, and I was pointing toward the beach trying to snipe with a PSG1. I could hear some weird beeping noise that sounded like a phone dialing coming from behind me, a team mate, just standing there, was dialing something in his hand. Upon closer observation, he was holding a knife, moving his finger like he was punching numbers, how weird! But...the bad part is, that match disconnected and it didn't save to My Theater!

Your assuming the spawn system is bad to begin with. They have no way of telling whether their spawn system is good or bad until the masses get the game and start playing it, there are hundreds upon hundreds of different ways the spawn system decides where to spawn you and it would take another year for them to figure them all out, and unfortunately they would rather just patch it after the games release (hopefully.)

I suppose so, but that's also what I assume betas and test periods are for... :/

I'm just saying that I personally beleive they could've made them more... efficient... prior to release. :l

I can't watch any theater matches.
My friends can but mine are just black and I can't click on them, just look at the deaths and win/loss.

After reading a few of these pages I see a lot of ignorant (not as in dumb, as in not thinking fully about their reply) people saying that the spawn points are horrible or the game overall is lame, the spawn points aren't that bad, and if it disappoints you that badly, then get the Tactical Insertion equipment. Or if you think the game is lame and MW2 pawns, then go back to MW2 (not litteraly).2010-11-23 22:19:00

But your assuming the spawn points are bad, they're not. I can guarantee that when they test every map and their spawn points within themselves, they're perfect. With the closed beta they had, it was perfect. It's when the masses get the game that the spawns start to look horrible, and that's because everyone goes a different route, uses different tactics, uses killstreaks differently, etc... With all these options in mind the combination of things taken into account is literally endless, they can't possibly find every single reason the spawns are causing x or doing y.

Which is why the only possible way of fixing some certain things is after they find out what is causing it which can only be discovered when the masses get the game.

A beta is used to discover bugs and squish them before final release, "bad" spawn points aren't bugs.

I'll say again that I almost never enjoy the spawns. But I can get over them and enjoy the rest of the game for the time it takes Treyarch to fix them, (There's no chance in heck I'm going back to that disgrace of a game MW2.) because I just know that they are a good developer, and that they will be fixing anything bad with the game.

And another thing I've already said; Combat Training is the ****. (Wow, s h i z is censored.) If the spawns just really make you PO'd hop onto CT and just go try hard on all the bots. At least in that, you have the advantage with the spawns, and can dominate the bots. (It's also a brilliant way to test out weapon combos and stuff so you don't need to waste money in your MP account. Which I have sadly done many times... )

If you think this game is bad enough to go back to MW2, do yourself a favor and play some other kind of game, you don't want your wounds to get any worse.

hey guys did you hear about this new game called Doom?
I love to use the M60 in black ops, M60 is beast!

Ya. It's a rip-off of that other new game - Wolfenstien 3D (lol - 3D means something different nowadays, doesn't it?!)

But for seriously.
This game is nothing different to Cod4: Modern Warfare - the core gameplay remains completely unchanged, just tweaked.
As expected from Activision, it's yet another yearly update, with nothing new, innovative or original added.
And yet it manages to break all records.

People are saying that the SinglePlayer has an original story?!
No it doesn't... I've already seen Fight Club.

You - the gaming community at large - make me sick.
Don't come running to me when Mm discontinues LBP in favour of their own generic Miltary FPS

Yep. That's because Activision is smart. They realize that people like playing COD MP. They like playing it A LOT. Even though all the MPs are quite alike, it doesn't matter; people will still want to play it. So, with Activision pumping out a new COD every year, they know for a fact that no matter how bad it really is, it's gonna sell, and it's gonna sell WELL.

COD multiplayer is a formula that just doesn't get old; a winning formula. So, all they need to do is refine it and add some new things in, but keep the basic formula, and it will attract a lot of attention and it will be played for years to come. One day there'll be a Call of Duty: Operation Warfare 13; and it will still sell well, and it will still probably break sale records.

The gaming community loves playing COD, and so activision gives them COD, but a lot of it.

Oh, and the campaign is in most CODs so that it can be called a full game. They are there to be played through once or twice, and the story is only there so they can have a definite ending.

Yes, Activision is "smart" - or shall we say "Business Savy" - the same way that Simon Cowell is "smart" or "business savvy" ;
They know that gamers are addicts, and deliberatly include manipulative game aspects in order to foster that addiction. They actually employ psychologists to add addictive game elements that are based on the "Skinners Rat" principle (ie, they view you as nothing more than a rat in a cage who has to push a button to get a pellet of food).

Simon Cowell knows that what-ever sanitised clone he picks to front his album doesn't matter - it's a case of Monkey See - Monkey Buy. After being bombarded with enough exposure, people will consume what-ever filth he produces and say it tastes like chocolate, regardless of quality.

But just as Simon Cowell is single handedly ruining the entire music industry, so too Activision are singlehandedly ruining the Games Industry... it's certainly not a 'good' thing.

What we have in Call of Duty: Black Ops is the gaming equivolent of an X:Factor winner.
They do nothing original, nothing unique - in fact quite the opposite, the idea is to be as generic as possible, as unoriginal as possible, as 'risk free' as possible, so that the maximum number of consumers will consume the filth that they are churning out. And surprise surprise - it tops the charts.

Activision have dropped any title from their books that cannot be made into a yearly updated generic formula - in the process canning alot of projects that were genuinely original.

What we'll get is just a hashed and re-hashed version of the same old tripe - again & again - with no innovation and no originality.
And because this business model is backed up by the sales success - other companies will follow suit - and shy away from something "risky" that is original (future LBP's?!) - and instead go with the tried and tested (completely unoriginal format) and bankrupt themselves trying to compete with the "top dogs" (Simon Cowell/Bobby Kotick) of the industry.

I fear for the future of games if something so vaccuous & unoriginal tops the charts.

Cod is now the gaming equivolent of X-Factor album... manufactured, populist, unoriginal trash.

So, has anyone seen/heard anything about the hidden story in Nazi Zombies? I love that kind of stuff, I think it's awesome.

This guy made the first video before Der Reise or the Black Ops maps even came out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz0ZdyZaKuQ&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_867445&v=6tH0S2O84RU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&v=j4JgTn4TL-U&annotation_id=annotation_483102

Some things the videos don't mention:

Fluffy "having babies soon" can explain why there are multiple hellhounds
The monkey bomb, mystery box, and teddy bears seem to be Samantha's toys
Dr. Richtofen teleports away before Sam & Dr. Maxis die, so their fate is unclear
Sam's ghost is present in Der Riese (But not the Black Ops maps? why?)
Dr. Maxis may be the Pentagon thief in Five
Nothing about Sofia is referenced apart from her name addressed in a message

Kino Der Toten:

There is a table in the Projector Room with a Dr. Maxis name card and pieces of an element 115 meteor on a plate
By shooting 3 different rocks of element 115 in 3 different places, a song " '115' by Elena Siegman" plays
One of the random rooms that the teleporter can take you to is Samantha's bedroom (you can hear her name called)
"Samantha Emilia Abigail" is written on the wall in one of the rooms (Wait! Sam Abigail is the daughter of Ludvig Maxis? Erm...)
"Edward Richtofen" is written on a book on the floor
The film reels are all related to Dr. Maxis' experimenting (the film reels hidden in the secret rooms that can be put into the projector)

While I do realize how hard it is to program spawning and the likes.

And I have faith that Treyarch will fix it...

I have to say, THIS was pretty funny.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPLlraIF1GU

Recorded by me using the Theater mode.

All 6 enemies spawned right behind me, and 3 of them rushed at me.

Thanks for that. I've been wondering how to get that song to play.

What bothers me though is that "Five" has Eminem's "Wont Back Down" playing instead. I have nothing against the song, but it just doesn't feel right. Playing Zombies since WaW's release, you get used to that screamo/metal sound with that female voice playing dark lyrics. So hearing a rap song on there doesn't get me pumped to kill zombies like all the other Zombie maps.

Sorry to interrupt..... but in Black Ops, can you make offline profiles for offline splitscreen like in Modern Warfare 2?

I don't think you can, which is a little annoying. But this is outweighed by the fact that you can, if I'm correct, play online with two players from the same system?

That's probably a bit confusing.....

And Combat training is awesome.

Or maybe they've realized the mistakes other companies have made by trying to make something "new" and "innovative" and decided to not fix something that isn't broken.

Example? Halo 2, best game ever. Halo 3? Horrible. Halo Reach? Is the 3rd most played game right now, behind Modern Warfare 2...

Nope.

Actually, you hold square (Or X, for the Xbox players.) on all the meteors. I found 'em all last night. (Without looking them up.)

1. In the first room, go under the stair case, and look right. It's on a pedestal encased in glass.
2. In the dressing room, right beside some dummies. On a pedestal like the first, but the glass is broken.
3. In the other room*. Right across from the mystery box/map, on a shelf. No pedestal or glass.

*The room that is upstairs from the stage, and can be accessed from the alley as well.

Another thing I'd like to point out is, and I'm not sure if this is well known or not, the random elements on zombies multiplayer are not there on solo. Once you die, and a solo game restarts, the dogs will come on the same round (6 or 7), and the mystery box will be in the same spot. It might be beneficial to have a quick round to check where and how everything will work, before trying to survive. But once you quit to the menu, and re load it, it'll randomize again. (The weapons from the mystery box are random though.)

Wow, they really went deep on Zombies. If only they had done the same on Combat Training and Private Matches. They both could easily be so much more, but sadly they were made really basic. You can't really make a variety of game modes, theres only normal gamemodes and certain weapon vs certain weapon stuff, like no scoping. (which you can make by editing steady aim so it only gives 5% spread, then give everyone snipers and ) You can't play wager matches or some sort of spin-off of them (Like russian roulette D: )

There are tons of things they could add to CT and PMs that are basic, but would really give players a variety of choices. Maybe Treyarch will in the future, I dunno, but I'll hope.

I really don't get what the big deal is with this game?

It's average at best, monotonous at worst. Not helped by the seemingly unending supply of tagnuts who you play with in the community.
I found I had a much better time playing Battlefield - it's just a much better multiplayer all round. More squad interaction, destructable environments, distinct classes. It's just a FAR superior game in nearly all respects.
Oh wait COD is slightly shinier - that is all

lol, you hate this game but you spend so much time bashing it on this thread instead of using that time for something more productive (yeah yeah at work and bored). Also, I though you said in your previous rant that you were sick of military shooters in general, does Bad Company 2 not fall into that category? Have you sold your copy of Black Ops yet? I am still trying to understand the rationale behind purchasing it simply because you felt "pressured" due to your friends getting it. I might understand the peer pressure argument if you were a teen but apparently you are an adult like me. If I already know what to expect from a game and what I expect is something I will not enjoy then I do not buy the game lol. I couldn't care less who is buying what, I buy things I know I will like

Having said all that, now that I have spent a good amount of time with multiplayer I agree that the online component in Bad Company 2 (my most played FPS of all time as of writing this) is superior (for ME of course) although, to be fair, the style of gameplay is so radically different in both that they are almost not worth comparing. However, as an overall package Black Ops is still my FPS of choice and (in my opinion) the best console FPS experience of all time. To each his own

I don't understand why you keep coming into this thread only to bash the game, if you don't like it that's fine and it's your own opinion but your basing your opinion as fact. The game is average at best, monotonous at worst, to you.

The game is amazing, I hated Battlefield because it's slow, and clunky. Call of Duty is a high paced, action packed, video game. There is never a dull moment online, there is ALWAYS something going on. And to be honest Black Ops is the most balanced FPS I have ever played. And I've played them all.

You keep saying the gaming industry is rehashing and feeding us the same thing over and over, but like I said before, Activision is the only company that has it right. If it isn't broken, why fix it? I can name 10 games off the top of my head that tried to do something "new and innovative" with their sequel which was their ultimate demise.

Call of Duty is the ultimate FPS package, it has a solid single player, and splitscreen but it shines in the multiplayer aspect. People love Call of Duty because it gives you customization like no other game before. You want a red M16? Here you go. Oh you want a red dot on it? No problem. OHHHH, but you want the red dot to be a smiley face? Sure thing.

Gun customization, contracts, seemingly endless challenges and 15 different killstreaks that can be combined in different ways make Call of Duty one of the best FPS games out there. And I only scratched the surface, the amount of customization is really endless, and that's what people want, to be able to play the game the way they want.

As for the "tagnuts" who you play with in the community, well there is a mute button for a reason. I personally love a good active lobby, with lots of trash talking/and or jokes being thrown around, it's just the nature of the beast I guess.

Oh and zombies anyone?

I enjoyed this a lot when it came out, got to rank 44 and then just sorta... stopped. I dunno, it's the same thing again and again, and while it was masked in a way by the addition and omission of certain things, i noticed it in the end. I'm getting my FPS fix from MAG at the moment, and the BF map back 7 is out tomorrow, with 'Nam on the 21st...2010-12-01 00:08:00
