I hate John Marston

Marston's just a total tool. He just does WHATEVER. Someone tells him to do something, okay, yessuh, he does it. He's a total ****** the entire time, it's like the motion capture artists confused "bad-***" with "obnoxious shirtless jerk standing outside the 7-11". After a while I just hated him, he comes across as such a spineless ninny who gets taken advantage of over and over, and it's all so cheap and exploitative to get you to hate the bad guys. I was having severe GTA4 flashbacks.
I like John. He's a gentlemen.

With Tommy, Carl, Niko and their mute predecessors I never felt they were decent people but with John I do.

As soon as I get on my PS3 (which is in a few minutes).

I like how the main character this time around isn't all macho and stereotypical (unlike Huang and Niko). He's a sensible man with religious morales (for the most part), actually looks cool, and has a neat feature that'd blow the other GTA guys and Rockstar protagonists outta the water (Dead Eye anyone? ^_^). This might be my cowboy-ish nature screaming out, but John Marston is definitely one of my all-time favorite fictional characters.

@Incinerator22 Buffalo are ONLY found in the great plains. Using dead-eye and a powerful gun is also good to take down a bunch, (Be sure to skin everyone, as they get you lots of monies) but if some get away, just leave the area, make a tent somewhere (Macfarlane Ranch area?) then return. They don't appear often, which does suck. )

I just got a trophy "manifest destiny." I looked it up and it's for killing the last buffalo in the great plains. I saw it running alone and I thought something was up. Why would they put a limit on my pleasure from hunting? Do other animals have limits?

Well, I don't think I'll ever be able to hunt buffalo again, and I'm reminded of history where the U.S. killed off the buffalo...

It's a depressing trophy

Just finished sp missions today, absolutely loved every second! That's despite having the ending spoiled (Still cried like a baby!) for me by some moron on YouTube mind you, so steer well clear from legendary hunt location videos.

I now have a bit of a thing for grimy middle aged cowboys!

@Littlebigdude805 Well you're gonna have to. To unlock either buffalo (Normal or Albino) You have to get to level 50, go into legend mode (restart from level 1) then get back to level 50 (That's for the normal buffalo) then go into legend mode AGAIN and get back to level 50 for the Albino Buffalo.

And I can tell you that getting to level 50 is like watching paint dry. (Unless you want to take a year to get to level 50 and have fun.) Nothing in this game gives you enough XP, and as you level up, the challenges you unlock give you less XP than getting one kill in Competetive mode. I played Solomon's Folly (Fastest way to get XP) around 200 times. I hate it now, but I know if I ever want to get the buffalo, I'll have to play it a HECK of a lot more. A man can lose his mind to this game...

thats brutal, yea i noticed that pikes basin jumps you from 1-5 but the dang exp curve is so steep that 3 levels later it only puts me up 2 >

i can't imagine how to level up once im past like 25

EDIT: free roaming all night to celebrate first night of summer anyone in? :3

I did Solomon's Folly about 5 times but it is boring by yourself. One time none of them reacted to me shooting them and only did anything if I shot them directly. The reinforcements were just walking around about half a mile away. xD

I got into mexico this morning... so not at the great plains yet, I'm loving every minute on RDR. It's just so awesome.
I love dead eye targeting and have mastered it quite well...

I might go for 100% trophies before any DLC comes out.

i love the semi- auto pistol... best weapon ever...

just massacred a whole gang for a bounty target with it (no big deal), but without getting shot or taking cover. hehe...

i also shot the poppycock guy (don't do drugs, so i kept the $1,000 and looted $204 from his dead body) ahh don't care about my honor i'm a hero anyway!

I got this for my Xbox 360, and it's definetly a great game. It reminds me of GTA San Andreas.

Oh, tip for the cougar hunters or w/e, use the Bolt Action Rifle. Works on Wolves Cougars and just about everything else.

I'm going to my friend's house tomorrow to play it online, I heard that's fun. And, for online players, in free-roam go to bearclaw camp near Tanner's Span and see what happens.

If you go to Thieves' Landing you can buy a mask that hides your identity so you don't gain or lose honour.

Like Cog says you just press select to bring up your items then you can put it on. There might be an animation for putting it on and taking it off, I'm not sure.

You know what annoys me? You have to go into your items menu to use your binoculars. It would have been so much better if they were something like your lasso which you select from the rotary wheel thing.

Oh yes now i remember, it owns!

The multyplayer's pretty good too, specially with a friend, i played wich Blizzard_cool today but he shot my ***...but he gave me a horse to replace him, so its cool.

lol tho some people think you're shooting at them when shooting the hideouts or shooting animals.

Btw, i got a good tip when hunting for or just getting ambushed by Cougars (or any other dangerous animal), some of you probably know this already, but just in case, you know when they jump you, you fall, leaving you defenseless thus if there's another one or that one returns fast you're rather shrewed, right?
BUT even tho you're unable to draw weapons, you're still able to summon the items menu, so as soon as you're getting overwhelmed or ninja'd by a cougar or simply wanna get out of that fight, simply open the items menu with SELECT button and choose to camp, and boila! I swear, almost everytime I go play online with littlebigdude, we always get mixed up in some large, chaotic gang fight, usually with me provoking it

. Usually, me and kill one random dude and hit the high-ground, some random lvl 20 or higher manages to snipe littlebigdude, I kill them back (usually) and everyone else in their posse, then they kill me and take my gun, yada-yada-yada... then they leave the session (in fear of me and littlebigdude

). It's really interesting to watch at a distance... considering that almost everyone else on the map joins in and wants to snipe me and my black booty.

Then again, who could resist?

that was annoying, we were ontop of the saloon and we kept owning everyone who tried to ride in guns a blazin XD so then we get like 3 people sitting super far away hiding behind rocks with snipers, and he just sits there with his cross hairs waiting for me. I don't have a sniper yet so all i can do is wait and watch as outlaw either snipes them or runs at them across a wide open field and manages to kill them with dynamite without getting sniped till he gets in range XD crazy

lol... clever. I always use tons of medicine. Select doesn't always work though

. You have to wait a few seconds after you fall before select will work again.

Side Note: No hunting in the RDR campaign is challenging anymore ever since I got the high powered pistol. Even bears and cougars are a walk in the park.

I've got to say, most of the people who play Free-Roam are vengeance seeking A-Holes. I mean, can't people just let it go?

One time me, and my two friends were traveling across the map, when we come upon a random player. This player turns to us and starts shooting. Seeing as theres three of us, and one of him, we destroyed him, then we left to do more adventuring: But not for long. The same player comes back with a vengeances and kills one of us randomly, then me and my other friend. So we spawn, and we get attacked again, so we kill him, and then rode off. This happened for so long, and it was making us all PO'd. Over the mic we were just like: "Dude, let it go." and he said something around the lines of; "You killed me."

SO many times things like this have happened to me and my friends. If people want to kill, they should go play competitive, and not rage on others in free roam.

... sorry if that was me. I sorta do that from time to time. O_o

But most of the time, I don't even provoke it. If anything, the players come out of nowhere and start shootin' at me! (Is it because I'm black in-game?!) One good example was a team of two and two lone players that I killed off earlier today. They literally chased me across the map to kill me (which was annoying since all I was doing was pickin' flowers... seriously!!) So, obviously, I killed them off and start running away... but they followed me. EVERY, FREAKIN', WHERE I went... to all four corners of the map. They were at it for 2-3 hours, until one of them got PO'd because I started using dynamite on him (Come on! It was 4 against 1 here!!), so he sent me some sort of GTFO message and left. Pretty soon, the other two-three players chasing me left as well. Now almost every time I go online, I have this general mindset that someone whose running up to me is gonna kill me, so I shoot first, then ask questions later. I seriously freak out every time I see someone head in my general direction.

God, what has Free Roam done to me?!

Odd, people keep saying how people online just go killing ya and stuff, but that rarely happens to me, sure there's the random dude going around killing everyone every now and then, but usually as long as i don't shoot then they don't shoot me (probablly because i try to get to higher ground or advantegeous spot b when they're near

) but of couse i usually take the most powerful gun i got and walk around just in case they decide to go a little trigger happy...

But most of the times everyone just minds their own business.

Btw, me and littlebigdude encounter a weird bug yesterday.
After a session of legendary animal hunting (all were good, except for Gordo, that guy took ages to spawn and lbd killed him once. XD) anywho after a while NPCs were acting all weird, lke none of them were moving and stuff, even when i went shooting at towns the lawmen and bounty hunters never showed up. O_o
And when i went to Armadillo to shoot around some people to gain bounty, it was empty...

And after that both me and lbd went to the outfitter to change title and we couldn't select them, and if i went to the character selection same thing bu we couldn't get out of te outfitter afterwards so we had to quit...

So if all NPCs stop moving in yer session i reccomend you save and change sessions or you may end up trapped in the outfitter.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best Games ever released and i think it's the best free roaming Game you can get.
I'm in my second Playthrough and since a few days i play the Multiplayer Mode a lot.

Yar you've been playing the story mode the last few days we didn't wanna bother you D: Outlaw just comes on at odd hours lol. and wheel whenever we posse up we set up a PS chat, you just enter it and always have the little keyboard up and typing a message is as easy as pressing the PS button and entering it, same with checking longer messages, short ones can be read from the pop up in the corner

its quite handy. Especially for challenges, me and kab finished all the outlaw and all the hunter challenges last night

, I got to go back in single player and get some more trophies, i think that I'm only on 31% or something. I would also like to get 100% game completion as well as 100% trophies.

But at about 4:30 I finished the story, and had a laugh in multiplayer I'm now rank 8

Yeah, I do that for Fat Princess and Armored Core. The situation often changes while I'm waiting on it to come up. RDR is probably easier though, the ability to actually drop away from the combat. I never bothered using it on RDR because I mostly wind up with randoms. I'll be happy to try it.

The only reason I didn't join you guys last time was because I got involved in a massive 8-10 player fight at Escalara (couldn't back out, man... had to set some things straight). That, and if I ever stayed in place for even a few seconds, someone was gonna kill me in that time frame. Guess it was a self-dignity thing or something (come on, half of the guys were whiny British 10-year olds; had to use dynamite and a girl character to scare them off). I promise to join you guys next time y'all are on.

Oh, and, well, since the 22nd will be a Tuesday, I guess it's a typo or some sort of automatic-updating error.

lol, time for me to join the "Hunting Stories."

Actually only one's a hunting story, the other are just rather odd/ funny (to me).

First i was at Thieve's Landing, you know getting out through the north bridge on foot when i see some guy kidnapping a woman. so i shoot the guy in the foot, tie him up and free the woman, the guy fell near the bridge's edge when i tied him, then i say to myself, meh, mission's over, he'll probably just run if i let him go, didn't feel like shooting him, so i go near him and press square to free him, and bam screen goes black and it says "DEAD"...
I'm like "what the?!" then i realized he was positioned so when i tried to free him, the animation to free him placed me in a position that would drop me in the river... -_-
Should've had shot him in the 1st place.

The second was same place, i was getting out same way again when some guy on a horse suddendly decides to start shooting at me, so i offed him right?
And then his horse just kept running near the edge of the river, so i thought i'd have a little fun and give that horse a little push, bam he falls onto the river, then i hear someting behind me, i turned around and there was a boar...
I had my laso equiped so i knew i was shrewed, i only had time to think "Aww sh-" when the boar ran at me full speed, trowing me onto the riveer like a ragdol...
Well, that's Karma for ya. XD

You know i used to think people were exaggerating when they talked of the "Ninja Bears" i mean i get ninja cougars, those things are supposed to be sthealthy and fast, but how in the world do you not see or hear a bear approach?
I'll never make fun of that term again...
Lastly, i was hunting actually while walking from Manzanilla to Jhon's Farm there's this little area of "Tall Trees" in the middle so i decide to walk through almost in the ranch i see a boar and rememberd that i had to skin 5 of them for a challenge, so i kill the boar and as soon as i get up a bear is runnig towards me, wth!
I go into dead eye and kill it, and as soon as i skin that one 2 are already behind me, almost killed me but managed to camp while on the ground (one actually hit me while the camp was loading :eek

As soon as i get out of the campi see a boar and decide "Ah wth, no bears around" i kill it and while skinning it i see a bear behing me in that little skinning animation...
But as soon as i get up the bear was gone.

And now i understand that these beares ARE indeed ninja, they can appear in packs in seconds and no sound...
Seriously, if it wasn't because i had some medicines and a flat area to camp i'd been doomed!

So...yeah first actual somewhat interesting stories that happen to me.

(Tip, in that edge between the farm and tall trees, its a flat/ tree-less area where bears appear, great place to hunt them, i got my "Kill 3 bears with a single shot each" challenge there thanks to that place and my trusty sniper rifle.

)

Mine just arrived a few hours ago. Obviously not done much yet but I'm regretting it already. I just can't read the on-screen writing at all. I've never seen such bad text in my life. Even if I could it goes off far too quick to read anyway. I can't find any option to alter it either. Even the journal is really difficult to read. When I was doing the horse race with Bonnie there was tons of text coming up that was impossible to read and went off in a couple of seconds. How the hell are you supposed to read that while racing anyway, even if it was legible?

Before you ask I haven't got an HD TV and no chance of ever having one unless I win the lottery. It shouldn't matter what TV you have anyway, the text should be much more clear to start with.

Are you sure you don't need glasses? Perhaps your eye sight is starting to deteriorate as you get older, or you've been pressing your eyes to see stars, or you choked the chicken once too often...or something?

Well obviously they aren't as good as when I was younger but they aren't bad. mrsv stood right up to the TV screen and she could hardly read it either. I can't believe anyone finds that easy to read. If you do then I must have a duff copy.

I also am having a bit of trouble with the subtitles, I wish they didn't use that font

I know this isn't much now as its a month late, but still i thought i should tell/ wrn you and the others that there IS a huge difference between HD and SD, Mistervista said that he had SD and he couldn't read the subtitles, and i agree 100% that it wasn't his fault, (well his eyesight wasn't that bad) belive me i know, when i played GTA IV in SD the letters were just diminute and unreadable, they were bearely readable, but i recently switched to HD screen with 1080p cable and those letters turned as visisble and readable as they could.

The problem Mistervista was indeed the SD, a lot of games nowdays are made specifically for HD, just like the GTA and RDR for PS3, among manby other games.
Like i said, when i played with SD i used to have so much trouble reading a lot of stuff and seeing small details, but when you see it on an HD screen, its a whole new deal!
It DOES make a difference m8, it's way easier to see a lot of stuff on HD-only games.

Perhaps it is possible that's why you were having trouble with the game too, aiming has to have been a bit different, and targets a lot smaller of course, not to mention dark areas look a lot darker in SD than in HD.

Well anyways, i know its alreday too late for RDR since you already sold it, but still, thought i'd tell you just in case you decide to either re-buy it or to buy other HD-only games

, and also to educate others with HD that are mocking yer sight, because those guys don't know how puny those letters are, how darkness increases, and how it may be more difficult to play games in SD...

Alright! I just grabbed this game today. I'm getting used to the controls and stuff, but I still don't see how you all are using lassos and skinning animals or using that "Dead Eye" thing... Lol I'll keep working at it. I did have some fun just free-roaming! I had no clue there were BEARS! I'm just riding my first successfully stolen horse somewhere and a bear runs right in front of me! I jumped so high cause that thing scared me to death. Then after about 6 or 7 fails, I finally shoot the dang bear enough dor it to die; just to learn you can't do anything with the corpse! I mean.... wth!?! So.... yeah :/

yyeaaa you can't skin in multiplayer

yesterday i got bored and started knife hunting, ide wait for a big pack of wolves and let them run at me in 2-3 at a time and ide knife them all down without a scratch it was epic >:O lol then i rode into town and purposefully ran over people

Then i started doing a funny thing, if you punch a sailor or really any white male under 50 they will want to fight back

if they hit you with you guard down it will send you across the room XD anyway knocking males out isnt illegal (or maybe its just the ones that fight back

) anyway ide make a guy fight me and lead him up the fire escapes to the roof of the blackwater hotel :3 when he comes up that last ladder and stand up i punch him till hes KOed and 50 percent of the time they will fall and slam there legs or back on the fire escape railing and then fall to there death and the law doesn't mind

!! good entertainment

First off:
XP = XP
$$$ = XP
Shooting people = 1XP
Shooting players or cops after you = 10XP
Different challenges = Different amounts of XP
Going to Gang Hideouts and beating them = a lot of XP

Andnranking up gives you certain advantages, like better mounts and more and better weapons, it also gives you xtra titles that show up under your name, and more characters to choose from to play as.

That's all i think.

Anyone feel free to contribute to this if i missed something.

Xp can be earned by doing mostly anything in the game. Some will give you more than others.

there are three types of categories that unlock when Xp is earned or challenges completed.

Characters
each rank you rise, characters are unlocked."prestige" is earned every time you pass rank 50 and legendary characters are unlocked.

Mounts
Same, but mounts are not unlocked at every stage. "prestige" is earned every time you pass rank 50 and Special mounts are unlocked.

Title
this is split into sub categories and is earned by either ranking up or completing challenges in game. (for example GANG LEADER Pattington_Bear)

Weapons
Another weapon is permanently added to your inventory each time you pass a rank (but you can alway pick up weapons on your travels).

Ranks also add new challenges in multiplayer that you can do (challenges have their own separate ranks system).

Ranking is more complex and so is Xp, but this is a basic or simplified understanding.
Dynamite is earned at level 15

idk, im hoping 20, its a nice round number and im close XD, also weapons that are unlocked by leveling will unlock weapon challenges and are not lost after i think its either dieing or quitting or both XD all your unlocked weapons stay with you and get free ammos when you die

lol i read somewere (think it was a tip at loading) that if you complete all the challenges for a weapon it will be made in gold for you to show off, a day or two ago i got my *** kicked by a high level guy and wwhen the kill cam zoomed in on him sure enough he had shot me with a golden revolver IM HONORED

EDIT: surprisingly there is a challenge or two for dynamite...so what...do i get golden dynamite!?!?

We were at Bearclaw Camp and it was my first time. Just in case, I had brought my Bear magnet and I gotta go see the guy who sold it to me and tell him it WORKS!
Watching us running through the hills of that camp with a handful of angry bears made me laugh to tears. Seriously, you never know when a bear will whoop you from the back. Oh and awesomans, your knife skills are priceless.
Just so you know, the 12 bears he's talking about were at the same time, 12 bears running after us AT THE SAME TIME.

MRVISTA: I gotta agree with you on this one. I'm 16, healthy and if I'm at a certain distance, it gets kinda hard to read the subtitles.

Yeah, but this problem isn't exclusive to this game. Ubisoft games are WAY worse. Assassin's Creed and Rainbow 6 Vegas both had, literally, indecipherable menus and subtitles.

As Chuck_18mp as my witness, I knifed like, 12 bears in Red Dead Redemption today. That said, I think it's safe to say me and Chuck have successfully wiped out the entire bear population. That will be all.

I'm sorry to say this, but those weren't 12 bears, it was just one after using its "Shadow clone" technique to clone himself several times.

That's how so many bears appear out of nowhere and ninja you in an instant.

Hunting isn't as fun in multiplayer as it is in campaign.

In campaign, the fun idea of hunting for me is picking off cougars from the top of a hill.

In multiplayer, I'm assuming the game is programed to have them spawn in packs from behind hills so they can charge at you from afar with little-to-no warning.

im loving the sniper, i sniped some guy across pikes basin in the head, he was so angry he followed me half across the map, i just stopped every 2 minutes to get off my horse and turn around and finish him again, which only fueled the fire XD

Also i sniped some loud guy on a mic across pikes basin and ofcourse he pulls the sarcastic remarks "oh thats real nice man reaaallll nice..*mutter tone* little*****er"

The "Owtlaws to the end" Co-op pack, has 6 co-op missions that a posse can take on thoegter.

Not the hole population if it's only 12 bears.

Try 30 or so bears. Happened to me when I was playing on my friends PS3 last week.
I'm sorry to sya this again, but this was the same one bear that attacked Awesomemans, in your case he was also using a bunch of shadow clones.

(Btw, neiter you or memans managed to kill him, he still roams around...somewhere :kz

Me, my friend, moley, and silverleon all had fun completing the missions. For the cost of several seconds to wait for the download, it was TOTALLY worth it, but you get next to no XP, so if you are wanting XP, they aren't for you, but if you are going for fun, then they are worth it.

Also, once you complete all the levels, you unlock the Advanced missions, which puts you in the same missions, but with Expert Aim, and tougher enemies. Also, the classes are all upgraded, and they add in a new one that lets you use all the stuff you have in free roam. (Which is good for my because I'm level 50 with every weapon!)

Getting a gold star on all the advanced challenges is going to take some time

at some point in the day RDR fell apart, making multiplayer basically unplayable, let alone the coop, everything got screwy, i can no longer enter multiplayer threw the title screen and have to first enter single player and then switch over uhg.

Odd, you guys say it was all screwey, but its working fine with me, i'm able to enter alone or invited, and pretty much te only glitches we i encountered are the ones where cog was left behind by the raft.

And when 3 of us suddendly fell off of it and were unnderwater for no reason... O_o

hey guys, i'm having probs with online play, since i downloaded the DLC (this morning)... my loading screen takes like 15 mins to find a game which has no players, and it used to take 1 min to find a game which was full, and when i do find a game with at least 5 players, they disappear (they are completely invisible ), i can see them on my HUD but they could be standing right next to me. could this be a connection problem? my connection is working fine... hmmmm any help?

it's okay i found the answer it's a bug, rockstar said that they've deployed a fix soo i might have to follow the instructions and wait.

I just finished storymode (i think) and wanna ask those who finished it some stuff.

I mean when they killed Jhon. my jaw literally dropped for like a minute... i was liek what the...this that just really happen?!
Eeryone kept saying there was a sad ending and when he reunited with his family i was actually expecting something like his wife or his son dieing but no, instead, all of a suddend and without me expecting it (i thought i was gonna get to shoot them... :/ after dead eye) they shoot John and actually off him...

So now i'm already roaming as John's son but see no missions, so that's it?
Don't get me wrong, it was epic and all, but he's not getting revenge agains't the government for killing his father?! he's just gonna let it go?

If that's the end, i smell a sequel coming up!

So yeah, just asking if that was the end i ask, because: A) i didn't se thecredits roll afterwards, and B) There's still a "Hidden Trophy" in the trophy list under the story mode ones (the ones you get after completing an arc of the game.)

If there IS more indeed, please don't tell me what happens, just if there is anything more or not.

you just pull the normal R2 when in melee range, unfortunately you can also do it to your friends if there close to you >_< annoying when your friend is trigger happy and you try to get by them and they pistol whip you 5 times XD

The third time I played RDR was with myself, alone, in free roam. It was awful. I rode to some random person, and while he was throwing fire bottles at some gang members, I started shooting him. he ran 8 feet up to my horse, and just when his gun puled out, he died. We had this massive war and we were pretty evenly matched, but I eventually got bored and rode away from him.

Then, I wanted to know what it'd be like to not shoot a bystander. I was on a trail heading towards some random guy, so I slowed down and was ready. Even though I presented a harmless approach, he pulled out a shotgun and missed completely. I shot him in the chest and he fell off his horse, then I killed him while he was getting up.

He spawned at the top of a cliff near me, and he tried to jump down the cliff but died three times. Then, will I got bored again and was exploring, somewhere along that line I saw his posse. I didn't stand a chance. It was embarrasing lol. As soon as they got up the cliff, I would hear about 20 pistol shots that almost seemed to synchronize like a machine gun, and I would die in two seconds just about every time. I went into a gang hideout where they followed me, and they were split up behind rocks and buildings, and I finally stood a chance and got some revenge. I started riding away when I was satisfied, only to find they had gathered on a cliff with sniper rifles. They killed my horse whenever I called it. I just ran away on foot as fast as I could, hoping I would spawn in a different place when I got far away enough from the cliff. It worked, eventually, ~after five or six deaths~, and I didn't see them again because they were busy doing gang hideouts.

Later, I saw a guy on a buffalo ride towards me. I was fasinated, lol. He pointed his buffalo rifle at my horse and I rode around his buffalo ominously about 7-8 times. His gun followed me perfectly. I rode up to him and his gun was pointed at my head. I pulled at my gun too and pointed it at him. He didn't do anything. I moved the gun up to point it at his head, and he finally killed me. Later, I saw him afk on the map. I was hoping he was on a buffalo so I could steal it and see what riding a buffalo is like. He wasn't. He wasn't responding to anything I did, so I decided to shoot him for the exp. Big mistake. lol. I saw him again, and he shot me with a buffalo rifle in a narrow pathway in Pike's Basin. I would spawn 8 feet from him and the cycle would continue. This cycle happened about 9-10 times. I finally was able to knife him while he was reloading, and used the 5 seconds of safety to escape.

I usually just run towards it now while it's still running towards me, and jump on right as it passes me.

I've had much more fun in this game since using expert aiming, turning off the map and auto-centre.

In multiplayer I've been using the Lusitano Nag and just taking my time going from location to location. While most people in your posse storm pass you on their faster horses I was surprised how many people slow down to join you at a slow gallop.

Run away from it, once it catches up to you and is about to pass you press triangle to mount it, its better they keep running after they reach you if you ask me, it gives you a bit oh a head start if you mount them how I said, so you start almost running.

I just bought the game two days ago, and it's a great , but it does have it's flaws.

Im still going through the single player story, it's very fun but I do have a few issues with certain things like waiting around for the time to get to X O'clock so I can start a mission. The amount of time doing noting but travel, this can get a little tedious.

Plus I find myself looking at the mini-map more than the actual game itself, not quite cowboy like to check his GPS all the time! :/

Overall though it's a great game and very enjoyable.

Anyone try hoping off a building that isn't the saloon balcony in Armadilo and landing on your horse? So far I've managed to pull off a landing from the Barn in the Macfarlane's ranch and the Casa Madruga roof a few times. I've almost landed on my horse from a moving train, it just seems I'm a half-second too late and I just squeak by.

After finishing the single player on this game, which was wonderful, all i have been doing is finding funny ways to kill people.
-Hogtieing a bunch of people near eachother and having a bonfire.
-Dropping people into deep water
-Dropping/shoving people off a huge cliff.

Speaking of cliffs, one of the most epic kills I had was when I took a boundy from atop a mountain and his cronies chased after me, I shot one guy off his horse and he flew off the mountainside... OUCH.

I also hogtied a bunch of people and put them on the train tracks... kind of disappointed with the effect, to be honest.

I really want to get some good MP going, if anyone wants to posse up please add me on PSN or send me a PSN message

It's SO much easier to become ultimately nasty than it is ultimately nice. It took me a whole games worth to get my honor to +100% and now i've completed it decided to go crazy and within a few hours got my honor down to -100% XD

Ah, but not everyone cares about finishing it and they'll still read it anyways. Besides, there's been like 20 posts that spoil the plot in one form or another.

It's really funny how every time you're on MP everyone reacts to other people in different ways. Last night, me, Joey and Incinerator were in a posse, tearing across the landscape and shooting every living thing in our path (including ourselves

). As we were making our way across Mexico, to my misfortune... Incinerator spots a 2-man posse at Tesoro Azul. Of course, the first thing someone should do in a situation like this is pretty obvious- start shooting at them. Or, well, that's what Incinerator did. Joey started shooting at the duo as well soon after. And me, well... I just rode to the other side of Tesoro Azul and hid behind a rock, watching the massacre unfold. As I expected, Joey and Incinerator were getting their, how you say, "donkeys", kicked. If they were to actually check the list of players online they would've come to the cruel and twisted reality that the duo was comprised of a level 43 and a level 47... with Joey's and Incinerator's levels not even reaching over 20. The duo did fire some shots my way, but not much. I even started to ride in circles around the hideout just to see what'd happen. They were so focused on punishing Joey and Cin that I even rode right through the middle of the town and not a single shot flew in my direction. Eventually, I got bored and rode away, with one of the two trying to shoot at my horse to no avail.

There were two things I learned that night:
1. It always helps to know exactly what you're shooting at,
and 2. Make sure that if you get into a fight, the other person starts it first.

You know what I hated about Free Roam sometimes? Every time I entered a game and theres a posse of about 6-8 players, and I end up rigght in the middle of them all they kill me, I respawn, they kill me, and so on for the next half hour as I pick a few of them off during each short life until I can finally overcome them all and run like fish.

True, true... in all honesty, I was actually experimenting on their reactions. I wanted to see if they'd attack someone that, although isn't attacking them, is in the same posse as those who are. They didn't at first, then fired off some shots, then went back to killing you two. I even started riding circles around them and they still didn't hit me. It was an interesting experiment, no doubt, considering that most people I encounter in those situations would immediately start firing away at me (even though I wouldn't do anything to provoke it).

The whole time I was watching that video, I kept thinking "Use the SHOTGUN, you idiot!! THE SHOTGUN!!".

Oh, and I'm the same way with a Bolt-Action Rifle. If you need to get rid of n00bs fast and efficiently, that gun will take you far.

Daaah, Lvl. 50 isn't worth iiiit D:. The rifle sucks, the bull sucks more, and you don't get anymore xp (and the only way out of that is to PRESTIGE... which will leave me vulnerable for a very, VERY, long time). But... I really want that Buffalo mount, so I might prestige soon anyways (pretty good with the Cattleman's; managed to head-shot a whole posse once using it).

I do a quick run of hideouts to get my guns lol I get the high powered pistol, Carano rifle (spelling?) and bolt action, camp an ammo crate for 5 min and I'm good to go

. I'd definitely go for the legendary thing later on, XP is fun. I am like lvl 25 or something though so I've still got some levels to go

Don't press down on L1 or L2 too hard (forgot what was to aim, havent played in a while) and it should work.

Killing nuns is awesome. They're so slow and that one giant mission in mexico only has one exit. So most of the time they just run around in circles. And even when lawmen come they only have one door to come in from, so it's pretty great. Yeah.

Well that's your problem. I thought the reason everyone played it was so they could finish it real fast and just restart. Alone Solomons is a little tricky but in a large group you can destroy it in seconds.

Bonzo is a piece of trash compared to the American Standard-bred. He can't jump and he's slower (and stupider) than the horse as well. That, and he's like a tank when it comes to steering.

And I'm talking about the Buffalo Rifle. 1-shot only, 1-second pause in-between shots, and has the same killing power as a Bolt-Action Rifle. That, and IT DOESN'T KILL IN 1-SHOT!!

Oh, and Littlebigdude... I recommend playing Pike's Basin and restarting it over and over again. My record on that goes over 2000xp, and 1 restart alone still yields more XP than a single playthrough on Solomon's Folly. That, and Co-op (if done right) can yield much XP as well.

when i was at my friends house playing this a good way to level up online seemed to be making your own free roam and finding a big town and killing all the sheriffs quickly, you rack up a huge multiplier and stuff. Yeah just a suggestion :o

I just got to ride a buffalo for the first time (stole it from an afk player and then rode like the wind while he tried to shoot me) and I'm a little disappointed. For one, your legs don't completely touch the sides. The game programmers probably got lazy because buffalo won't be ridden as much as horses.

So I was surfing the webz once while standing around Armadillo Station (Where the newspaper and bounties are) and I hear Marston say "Sorry I have problems of my own right now" and see a nun walking away from me. Did I miss a stranger mission? Or was it a random donation kind of thing?

No stranger missions come randomly. Why was there a nun in Armadillo? In the whole time I played Red Dead Redemption, I never once saw a Nun in armadillo

I have no idea but I swear it happened. I was just waiting by the bounty poster idle for a while, it seemed like such an oddity so that's why I'm wondering if I missed something important.

I had just met Irish around the time when this happened... I did some Searching and figured this out:

Apparently the nun will randomly go up to you wherever you are and give you a rosary that will supposedly lower the chances of you being hit. IF you miss her she'll eventually find you again.

Well thats a lie. I would know, I've melee killed at least 50 bears, Including the legendary bear (He was annoying to kill with just a knife).
I would of noticed if you could.
Oh, and best bear kill ever? A bear was leaning over me about to pounce over me and kill me, but just before he could I somehow managed to get my melee knife right through his head and kill him.

****. I was going for that thrown / melee only challenge in the Gaptooth Ridge and was almost done and accidentally shot someone... I must have still been on the handgun after pushing the cart. Poo, now I gotta do it over again lol.

Edit to add - Question about the train a little bit later in the game...

After the mission in Mexico where the bridge is blown up, does the train eventually resume its regular schedule? Will I eventually be able to do the train challenges again?

Multiplayer is really starting to bore me.

There is very, very little do do.

-Coop missions.
-Multiplayer challenges.
-Gang hideouts.

...and that's about it. I am really looking forward to the new DLC.

The funniest situation in RDR was when I not too long ago took my time to hogtie a lady and put her on the tracks. I waited as the train started up again from the train station....then a cowboy from town on his horse simply walks over the tracks WELL IN TIME before the train squished him too. It was hilarious. He didn't react at all. He just exploded into a red mist of blood like the lady.

I also have a problem with a stranger question mark...perhaps a bug? Not sure which quest it's related to at all. I'll use this image for reference... if you look at the map image in this quest my question mark is located at the bottom right corner of the image, right where you see the steep cliff. I rode over there and checked high and low. Nothing. Is it a known bug or anything? Anyone know?

I am not a big video game player, but I got this game for PS3 and I love it! It has a great storyline to it, almost like you are watching a movie at times. Also, the gameplay itself is not hard.

That was actually kind of easy. Go to any town in Mexico, go into a bar and look for a group of people who have guns, then Dead Eye everyone in the hand.
I used the Mauser Pistol when I did that.

An easier way that worked for me was to get the Evans Repeater and hole yourself up on the second floor of the Armadilo Saloon. Start trouble and shoot the lawmen in their hands while using the Dead Eye to reload your gun without the reload animation. It somehow didn't count the auto-reload of Dead Eye. (This might have been fixed in a patch but its worth trying out, just get 1 disarm, enter Dead Eye to auto-reload and check the challenge section to see if it still counts.)

Anyone of you had problems where you search for the co-op modes but you enter gang shootouts? I googled it and someone wrote you should delete your DLC and clear your cache memory. I started the game today and didn't have any problems though. It happened yesterday...

for the $5000 bounty: go to armadillo and go to the doctor's office, and hide behind the counter and just keep killing the lawmen that come after you.
