Ahi I imagine.

What he said. It's Ahi and the Golden Gauntlet, a level series and/or comic series I'm planning.

Sounds more like a name for a comic than a level.

How do you pronounce Ahi? (Ah-he?)

Well anywho, nice to hear you're gonna get a new tablet soon.

Which tablet will you be getting if you don't mind me asking Zim? I'm not gonna assume it's that Wacom brand that's eluded you for so long

Hope you're new tablet puts a spring in your step regardless

I'd imagine you creating a backstory via comics...

...possibly what happens to some characters after they [removed] from comic (by Death, adventure ect..)

Not sure what you mean by that, considering I haven't drawn anything in a month. :L

Aaand I'm not sure what you mean by that either, I never had a Wacom. It was a Genius brand, which was cheap and not-so-good. I was gonna get a Wacom Intuos4, but now I've been hearing about a lot of people having problems with Intuos4 and Windows 7, so I'm not so sure.

Eluded, in this context, means that you never had one but wanted one forever. But yeah, I hope you finally do get the Wacom of your dreams.
Also, "OOOooooo pretty poster"

I meant, he said "I'm not gonna assume" with a sad face at the end, so I was a little confused as to what he was saying.

Naw, I mean it's unlikely that your first Tablet since your last broke is going to be the one that you've wanted for a while now. It's not like your situation has improved since previously wanting a wacom. :/ (hence my sadfaceness)

On another note:

Tablets and Guitar Hero controllers... If you keep using them for too long, BAM! They break.
But you can't draw epic stuff with a guitar controller...
But you can't pretend you're the pwnz0r with a tablet (well, maybe Zim can )

And no, my plastic geetar didn't broke, I'm just making an analysis.

Waiting for your tablet. (so I can wait for more art )

That Turtle just made my day. It should be you're motif, like Eva Cassidy's "Bubble" which features in lots of her artwork. In other words, I want to see that turtle in everything.

I probably would have retuned to the stream at some point but Mumford & Sons threw me into one of those trances where I have to go through an artists songs and download everything. Atleast my Ipod and my ears are very happy with me.

Zim I wants more Turtles.

I agree with Doggy on losing the eyebrows. I also think that the color scheme works really well on him, and compliments his design (though whether or not he's considered a good guy or a bad guy yet I dunno). I like how is arms are exaggerated and that he has a large jaw, giving him a more cartoon-ish appearance but still feel a bit serious due to his eyes. Overall, he looks good for a concept; just make sure that this translates well with his personality, though (if he's even gonna have one).2011-04-26 13:57:00

I agree with Doggy on losing the eyebrows.
I shall make my self 3rd to say that he looks better off without eyebrows; things just always(to me, at least) seem cuter without them.

Also, for some reason when I look at him I imagine him making normal sackbot like noises when he's happy, and sackbot meanie ones when he's angry(or when he's in some sort of battle mode where he gets all bad-donkey and his eyes turn red- like Gir from Invader Zim ).

it's an interesting concept, i agree that it will look better without the eyebrows, dunno if you can put the same material of the arms a little bit on the legs too, so when you make him walking itr will more easier to draw because of the curves of the material, also for the tubes on the back, i think you can try also different sizes so it will look more appealing, if you don't like you don't have too, overall, i want the little robot *___*2011-04-26 16:47:00

Uggh... I wish dA commentary was editable. -_-

I think you've definitely improved on the shading, and the colors (though a bit monochromatic in terms of being consistent) look nice and give Ronin a mysterious, badass persona. And I like how you've kept the focus on the character, and not filling the BG (or anything else) with too much detail.

Oh, and that cracking armor effect around the blade is a nice touch as well.

I've made a much simpler drawing now. I just made it to find my 'sackboy drawing style'..
I'm aiming for a cute and a big head, and a small body.
But, i just wanted to know how a fat sackboy would look
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/6403/sackboy.png (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/638/sackboy.png/)
That blue thingy was just to test lightning
Overall it looks pretty good, though there are a few small mistakes. The eyes should be a bit closer together, and remember that Sackpeople have fingers. The top of the zipper should be moved up closer towards the neck, and the arms should be a bit bigger so it really looks like a ragdoll.
I'm actually surprised by this one's style since it's pretty different than your other style - Why don't you try drawing a Sackperson in that style? I'm sure it'd look awwwwesome.

I actually tried it with more of the same style, but it turned out to be too much human looking... :/

SO...I know this isn't really meaningful art, and that it isn't LBP-related so you probably don't care, but I thought I'd post it here anyways.

Still trying to get humans down. :I
Can I get some critiques on these?

Those look really good. Almost like a Disney style and anime style put together. To tell the truth, the real problem is some of the noses. The side views of the faces' noses look great, but when there's the front face, their noses look a little skewed on 2 of them (#2 and the last one). Like even though their face is looking straight, their nose looks like a side view nose.

The faces themselves look great. All that's missing is the bodies, but based on these, they'll look amazing.

Top right one was just a space filler, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Anyways thanks for the feedback.
LOL why do you think I've only done faces so far? Gotta master those before I get on with the most difficult part...I have a horrible sense of anatomy.

Oh, and if any of you here use Twitter, I post extra sketches there (http://twitter.com/#!/TheZimInvader) sometimes. Just in case anyone's interested in seeing the useless stuff (http://i52.tinypic.com/2rz55dh.jpg) not worth posting anywhere else.

Wow, that firefox persona is great, and don't worry about the line, that is how they designed firefox.
As for the sketches, IT IS NOT USELESS. The MLP stuff is perfect. The rest is as well. You say you are not any good at drawing humans, but you seem to be really good to me.
What is that vehicle up on the left? I WANT.

Useless as in, they'll never be put to use or be of any purpose.
I made that hover-jetski-thing for that Sonic-themed tournament on deviantART. This round's based on Sonic Riders, so you had to design a vehicle to race with.
I'll admit I've gotten pretty good at humans when it comes to faces. I haven't got even the smallest sense of anatomy, though.

Nah. A livestream is when you get to see her draw live. Nothin' about requests.

Hmm... I dunno what to say about this one, Zim. His head seems a little large, and he's missing a scar or two around his eyes. Actually, his head should be a bit more box-shaped. Other than that, though, the colors are good. The tattoo looks right, and his hair (though I think that the outline on his forehead should be removed) looks good. I know you're still new to drawing human characters, but this isn't bad. Just takes practice.

Sorry, requests are closed, as it says in the title and the first post of the thread.

Anyways, after an hour of streaming, the recording program went out of whack and was lagging way too much, so I had to stop the stream. Maybe I'll do another one later this week, I don't know.
Thanks to the two of you that came to watch, tho.

I haven't seen kappa's original but I'm noticing a few feminine features such as the eyes in your rendition. Femininity is associated with softness and roundness so large, rounded eyes (such as the ones in you're piece) will have a more feminine look than small, narrow ones. The large Irises do a great job of emphasising the characters youth despite the fact that this is something we again tend to associate with feminine characters. If you then factor in the rather slender and less muscularly articulated limbs it becomes apparent where people may be getting confused. I'd perhaps differentiate the two genders by the broadness of the shoulders but with this particular character, I'm stumped in that department :/

Great piece though, I'd love to see Kappa's origional....hint, hint.

Well then. ~_^

Seeing how this was suppose to be a bit more elaborate compared to other requests you've done, it was a nice change of pace (or, well, at the time). I can tell that you sorta just rushed through that last bit there; I'll elaborate:

- The most obvious part I can pick out is the left-over outlines of the security camera and ventilation grate. Seeing that you weren't going to do anymore with that (unless you have plans on revisiting this picture), removing them from the piece would have benefited it more, imo, since then it'd give it a cleaner look.

- I'm not sure if it's my resolution or if the piece is suppose to be that way, but it feels a bit too dark in shading and/or palette to really get a sense of all of the detailing put in there. This is more of a personal preference, though.

- The camouflage... hmm, I dunno. It looks as though you were going for a more traditional look earlier, but then sorta brushed over various shades of green to achieve the look. And, the more I observe it, the more I feel that this was a bit sloppy on your part. Should you ever take the time to ever do another camouflage rendition, try referencing to actual camo patterns, like this (http://www.threeskins.com/acatalog/cam-jun0681_s.jpg) and this (http://www.camouflage.name/camouflage_patterns/woodland-digital-camo.jpg). (Actually... your camo pattern looks sorta like this (http://www.crestock.com/images/310000-319999/314047-xs.jpg).)

- The sheen/lighting in some areas is off, considering that the only possible and visible light source would be the green panel itself. Perhaps putting some sort of beam or visible ceiling light would help justify those spots.

- I know guns aren't your thing, but there's one specific part that I think you missed: you didn't really include an action (like a hammer of some sort). That, and the trigger guard is off (more oblong than circular).

- The rich detailing (brushed metal, knitted skin, different clothing textures) aren't as apparent as they should be. Then again, those are more personal nit-picks than actual critiquing.

Other than that... you delivered on the tone, something you're quite skilled at by now. You can tell the seriousness and importance of the situation just by reading GDN's face, and the expressionless and cold details and background (though could benefit from more details, like those two you didn't include) give a good contrast to the character himself, since he's the focus of this whole piece. If this piece wasn't so tedious for you (and you finished it in full), I bet yah this would've been EPIC. But for now, this looks great, and I'm sure GDN will be satisfied.

Whoops.

Hmm...

Pretty much what Jack said, and some more.

- The proportions of the door and the hallway seemed off. The door seemed too low, the hallway looked warped, and you pulled an optical illusion with the wall on the right with the black tiles on top. I could circle it in the pic to show you if you want. (It was a problem with the vanishing point)

- Where GDN is standing, there's a "bar" on the wall edge, yet on the edge of the wall down the hall, there's no "bar".

- I couldn't tell what the things around his body were, maybe grenades or bullets, but they looked like eggs.

- This is something I just realized... And it isn't your fault... Why would a spy be wearing an infantry helmet?

- Jack pretty much said everything else. lol. So I can't really say much else besides some nit picks. Honestly... It doesn't even look like it's finished... More like you just gave up on it.

You don't have to worry much about the scenery because I'm going to cut it off and replace the sketch in my sign. I think I can photoshop it to make it brighter and match the color of the sign.

Oh, and THANKS!

GODDANGIT. I made a typo, it was 3am and I was super tired...I meant I DIDN'T want any critique on it, since it was unfinished. So, in other words, all those things you pointed out would have been fixed if I hadn't stopped halfway through.
But thank you anyways.

No idea what happened with the link, Superdork/Warlord, serves me right for using something other than tinypic/dA for once. Here (http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/149/8/b/lbp_request___gdn_by_theziminvader-d3hiyjp.png).

Well, consider this my "Beta signature" then. The ironic part is that you'll look at the sketch everytime you see a post by me.

@doggy97-: Read this stuff:

Want a drawing of your very own Sackperson? Read below!

REQUESTING A DRAWING:
Here's what you gotta do first; See that sign down there? Whether it says Open or Closed determines whether you can get a request or not. If it says Closed, there should be an estimated date requests will be open. There are no exceptions when requests are closed! (And that means no bribing. ) There is no waiting list and you cannot reserve a slot - if you want a request, you've got to be here when they're open.

If the sign says Open...Congratulations! You've got some good timing. You'd better hurry up, though; slots fill up fast! And when they do, no more requests until the next season. ):

So the sign says Open and you're all ready to go, eh? Here's how to request a drawing of your Sackperson:
-Provide a picture (or more than one if necessary) of the costume you'd like me to draw.
-What's your Sackperson like? Describe their personality - It doesn't have to be lengthy or anything. Just a simple word like "serious", "hyperactive", etc. will do.
-Are there any specific non-costume items you'd like me to include? I'm sure your Sackperson wants something a delicious ice cream cone or a little cat to follow them around, but unfortunately there isn't a costume item of it. Let me know if you'd like them to be holding or wearing something that doesn't exist in the LBP universe yet.

The moment of truth...

They will be open again in the summer when I'm on break from school!

Reeeeally sorry for the inactivity regarding the last of the requests, guys...School just ended, though I'll be working through summer as well. I'm down to three classes a week now, so I'll have a bit more free time now (though it still isn't much). I'll try to work on the requests this week or next week.2011-06-14 20:11:00

No problem!! Credit where it's due. Have you ever thought about creating your own blog and adding yoru designs to them? They will get people inspired I think!!

I like how this forum has loads of people from a design background, from music to illustration, everyone is here!! It's a huge mixed bag.

Nah, I don't use a blog, but I do post all of my artwork (Sackpeople and non-Sackpeople) on deviantART (http://theziminvader.deviantart.com/). Plus these aren't my designs, considering Sackboy belongs to Media Molecule and the costumes belong to the people who request them.

And also, check out this great article by compher, on Evolution of Creationism:
http://www.littlebigplanetarium.com/topic/910-the-evolution-of-creationism/

Anyone who has braved the daunting task of making his or her own level in LittleBigPlanet can tell you that this game has something about it that sets it apart from all other create-centric games on the market. It's an impressive balance of depth and user-accessibility, so that it can accommodate upstart creators, the seasoned veterans, or anywhere in between. The wild thing here is that anyone, given the right level of focus, can create something impressive.

I wanted to take a leisurely look at the stages of creationism in LittleBigPlanet, or more specifically, how the focuses and talents of a creator evolve over time. This is not meant to be an authority on the matter and is purely based on personal opinion.

It also features some artwork comph asked me to do a few weeks ago, a piece based on The Evolution of Man, but with a LittleBIGPlanet twist.

Haa your right about media molecule owning the costumes and sackpeople, but when you've drawn it, it means its your own. It would only be copying if you actually got their imagery and called it your own. But because you've gone out, sketched, drawn and shaded your own artwork, I class that as being your own now. I'm a graphic designer to and took other imagery I have found on the internet and made it in to my own, by cropping, changing colour, adding/taking away elements. Once you have done a few adjustments it becomes yoru own because it soon doesn't look like the original peice.

Have you entered the competition? I think you'd have a strong chance of winning, designs like yours gets you places. I even showed my girlfriend who is a really good artists. she designs tattoos and puts them on the web. People have actually contacted her saying they found her designs and got the tattoo's done. One of the tattoo's on deviant art has been viewed 39,000 times, whaaaat!?! If you wish to check hers out, her deviant art is http://rhianne-almond.deviantart.com/gallery/

Well...Not exactly. Modifying images by cropping/coloring/resizing/etc definitely does not make them your own - Even if you've gotten permission, it's still not yours. Images/art/etc are copyrighted to the original artist or creator 100% of the time, and if you change it a bit and claim it to be completely your own, you can get into trouble. For something to be owned by you, it needs to be 100% made by you.

What was that about a competition? What competition? Comphermc asked me to do that piece of artwork as a banner to represent his article, I'm not aware of any contests.
But wow, those are really nice tattoo designs!

alltough that would probably just make those "10 procents of diffrent-ness" her own and not the rest 90% of the original refference. either way she would still get in trouble claiming a requested character as her own.

but uh.. im just guessing..

btw if ya wonder what happened to me and the request of yours the last 4 days; both my internet and my tablet (once again) whent totally apes***t for a while but things are getting back to "normal" now

Yeah. You can't just change an existing image or character around a teensy bit and claim it as yours. That's art theft.

well maybe your right, it's not like that with everything though, I still wouldn't call your art 'copying' from mm, as it is your own work, it's not in their artstyle, but I can see where you are coming from to.

I've done it in the past, used stock imagery to make in to my graphics, people often make their money by selling their stock imagery to websites who allow other people to use them for free in whatever way they want. Their is a lot of these websites around the web that allow that. I've used it within my graphics at uni. Just so you know, the graphics didn't just have that image, it had everything I'd done aswell, and i'd cropped, edited the photo to make it look the way I wanted the artwork to feel.

Sorry, I've only just seen this page, I've been busy the last few days.

What is humourous is that Dadaist artist Marcel Duchamp actually did this and claimed it as his art. (one of the reasons I despise his work. I only really know about him from my class about art history.etc )

This is an example of my work, I found this imagery on google a persons hand putting a key in his car. I've gone on to make it look 'blury' and manipulating it in to my own work. It doesn't look anything like the original which was just a bland dull
photograph. I've converted it to give it the feel of the over all composition of the dvd cover.

Well, according to the rules of the internet, easily found in a Google search, rule 25 says :
"25. Relation to the original topic decreases with every single post."

But other rules aren't as legitimate(that one is because this is already off-topic!):

i.e.
29. On the internet, all girls are men, and all kids are undercover FBI agents.
30. There are NO girls on the internet.

Haha, that's pretty awesome (and you correctly guessed my favorite pony), but I don't really like to do anything with my signature (I think it's best off empty since I like things to be clutter-free). Thanks though, love it!

Aaaas for the rest of you...I'm still busy. BUT I will probably most of next week free before starting school again (which adds up to a grand total of one single week of summer break). I'll try to get those requests done then.
